Some websites are claiming it is a TFT and others are claiming it's an IPS. Motorola's website does not state anything except it's a 5.7' QHD. Anyone know for sure?

It says IPS on the Moto page. Probably the nicest looking screen on a phone I've ever had.
it says "IPS TFT LCD" on their website. So the answer is yes both of them are right . Btw Q and A section

I thought it was a TFT LCD screen.
LOL just like sprint to possibly print the wrong specs on their own website. I guess from a development stand point it doesn't matter if the screen in AMOLED or TFT. I worry about AMOLED considering the stuff being reported about the nexus one screen though.
as someone using an AMOLED phone I'm glad it has a high quality TFT instead. My phone is absolutely atrocious to view in sunlight. While Super-AMOLED takes care of this problem, it isnt available on any non-Samsung phones and Samsung probably wants to keep it exclusive for a while

I edited it for you to give you the actual link
This came from GSMArena

That's only misquotes from the original article at Mobile-review. What he is really saying is "Europe will get a version with Super AMOLED screen, while in Russia S-LCD screens will be offered instead". So looks like its only Russia who will get the inferior SLCD screens Link to original article
Inferior? I think I'd rather have SLCD... since I read text a lot on my phone =(

I think they fixed the messed up text issue with nexus S and s-amoled
As long as they use pentile matrix it's always gonna have ****-tacular text. (Don't get me wrong, the screen is gorgeous, but the text is... less than desirable.)
Since nothing was said about screen material, I guess it is probably TN LCD,I hope it would be AMOLED, or even Super AMOLED, or at least IPS LCD.
Any thoughts?
It is going to use a Super PLS Display.

They already said it's PLS. If you don't believe - watch the presentation again. I believe Asus will have similar (the same?) screen in their two 10.1 inch tablets.

Yep, said PLS in the press materials.
I've read on several sites about this phone and i'm planning to buy one but the problem is i'm confused whether this device is pumped up with a LCD, TFT capacitive or AMOLED screen? now some websites state that it has AMOLED tft capacitive screen. I would like to have some clarification about this. and some feedback would be appreciative about this device...
The first stock had AMOLED screens, now they are produced with TFT's you may be able to find an AMOLED one via ebay etc.
Many people will say there isn't much difference anyway.
Well actually, there's a huge difference..see for yourself !

Yes it's brighter etc but also the con being screen burn!
Anyway you will have to buy second hand or old stock for AMOLED
Glad baught mine when first came out...
It's actually quite easy to find out if your Blade has the AMOLED or TFT screen.
Go to settings> About phone> Build number
If it ends in 05, it's an AMOLED. If it ends in 08, you've got yourself a LCD. (This is only true for grey devices.)
im lookig forward to buy this phone. just want to know if its display is IPS or just a regular Lcd panel ? is colour quality same as 2013 moto g ?
First of all, there is no "regular" LCD screens. All LCDs use some type of screen technology, wether it's TN, IPS, PLS, VA or something else.
That beeing said, the Moto X Play does have a IPS LCD.

by regular i meant TN/tft etc. since those doesn't have great colours and viewing angles.
