2G/LTE Network Toggle - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Has anyone find a way to toggle from 2G/3G/LTE automatically.
I've tried Tasker, but ii says it's not supported.
I've tried Smart Networks for Xposed but I loose all connection when it tries to get back to LTE.
I've also tried Toggle Network Type 5.0 and I also can't get back to LTE.

I don't know about LTE because my network doesn't support it, but my phone automatically switches between 2g/3g.
In theory, Android will automatically try to search and connect to the fastest network available. So I don't understand what you're trying to say.

I want to limit it to 2G when screen is closed and bring it back to best network when screen is on.

Oh. That looks like an oxygen issue then. Maybe ask on oneplus forums, you might get a better reply there.

Gravitybox can do it.

How to force LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) or any other Preferred Network Type.

Hello, I have no problem receiving an LTE signal on BCE (Canada) through the Phone Info Menu. I can select any of the preferred network types including LTE, LTE/GSM, CDMA, LTE/GSM/CDMA but it won't stay. Every day I have to go back into the menu and it reverts back to the first selection "WCDMA".
Does anyone know how to force this so it stays on LTE/GSM/CDMA. So it will stay on the LTE-enabled network unless there is a loss of signal and it reverts back to HSPA? It does this automatically when "LTE/GSM/CDMA is selected, but again reverts to CDMA within a day usually.
I did some searches here, but 99% of what comes up is just people asking how to enable LTE or if their network gets it?
Any ideas? Maybe some sort of macro thing.
Regards.
Add this line in build prob
telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1
Save
Reboot
Now in settings/more/mobile networks u will have an option to choose and it will stick. U have to add the line every time u flash ROMs.
But I keep iron WC DMA/gsm for better battery speed is OK on h+
Thanks for the helpful reply man. I haven't edited a build.prop yet, so Ill have to check it out.
Alright thats all done now, works like a charm. Like that I have the option now either way. I typically stick to WCDMA/GSM when on the road or at work where LTE is spotty, but on days off for around town I would rather just be on LTE as I usually just looking up something quick when Im shopping or something.
Thanks again.

I keep it at LTE, it does have less bars but quality is same for me, speeds are amazing. Also 4G is only data, not voice, so when u have an active call it will change to 3G.(but that's not the phone it's the network)
don't forget to do it again if you flash new ROM, also Tethering WiFi won;t work, there is a fix but it's complected for me, so I just go to W/G if I need to share connection.
So, my Nexus 4 shipped today, and it'll be in my grubby little hands by tomorrow evening. I, unfortunately, can't activate it until March, as I have to wait for my Verizon contract to end, but I keep seeing this LTE stuff, with no real explanation. I do know that the Nexus 4 has an inactive LTE radio in it, but what's the use of activating it, if T-Mobile doesn't have LTE? Is this only for the AT&T users?

There are other threads dealing with who can access LTE in the USA. I am in Canada and on Bell.
I'm in Canada, using Fido. I activate the LTE on my Nexus 4. It works fine, but I'm not able to share internet with wifi hotspot.
I have Android 4.2.1 (latest OTA from Google).
There is a bug with this version or it's only because I activate LTE manually ?

what is the fix to get hotspot internet sharing with the Nexus 4 ? Do i have to had a APn for 3G and swith that it to share my connection ?
I'm with the original firmware. Android 4.2.1
process com.android,phone hase stopped working
i recently got a rom from revolt on my n4 and i switched cdma to lte gsm wcdma auto
i also went into build.prop and wrote down telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1. i went and to setting, more, mobile networks chose the correct setting. so now i got 4G. great i can make calls. GREAT. but i cannot receive calls...
need help with this. im really choked about this ROM
Even if I select "LTE/CDMA" in the Mobile network settings menu. The settings page keeps displaying "CDMA preferred".
Does this mean it didn't work? In quick settings, I see my mobile data connection as 3G Bell.
LTE only seems to work when using the *#*#4636*#*# trick in the Phone app.

Would you have by any chance the line for the built.prop to stick the setting to GSM Auto (PRL)?
TIA!

Thanks, but LTE doesn't work in my country, its always stick on lte/gsm/wcdma but it doesnt detect my gsm so i have to manually set it on GSM only but wont stick here every time i restart my phone i have manually set it on GSM only otherwise it wont detect my network
Any advice ?
How can I make "WCDMA Only" the default selection?
Where I Iive there is no LTE and the coverage of the service is quite poor, so the phone keeps jumping between E and 3G/H. I have to manually go into the phone app and select "WCDMA Only" is there a build prop tweak to make the "WCDMA Only" the default option instead of "WCDMA Preferred"?
Thank you.
So is there a way to get the nexus 4 to work on Verizon ??

No. Completely different technology.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Dial *#*#4636#*#* then phone information then select what you prefer.

Aah Crap ! Well thanks man saved me from buying on guess i will have to stick with my rezound for now then
fixed it
For everyone still searching for a solution to this problem, this worked for me. Go to phone information and turn your radio off. Then switch to LTE/GSM/CDMA then power down, DO NOT TURN YOUR RADIO BACK ON. Now remove your Sim card, put it back in, reboot and you should be good to go. DO NOT HGO BACK INTO PHONE INFORMATION OR ELSE IT WILL NOT STAY
If it still isn't connecting try fiddling around with your APN settings.

4g / LTE Toggle / radio control

At work the 4g LTE signal for ATT is very poor in the building, but we have 4g repeaters for ATT to fix this issue. Unfortunately, phones are stubborn and like to stay on 4g LTE despite having 1 bar of signal vs full signal with 4g. I had this same issue on my iphone 5 but was able to easily force off LTE while i was at work and have a steady, reliable data connection. My Note 4 seems to have the same affinity to wanting to be on 1 bar of LTE, but I cannot figure out a way to toggle / force LTE off and just use 4g. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone know of an application I can use to resolve this issue?
Thanks
try settings...more networks...mobile networks....network mode....It should be in there..I have the sprint model so I don't know for sure...but that is where mine is....hope this helps

Unfortunately, there is no option for Network mode on the ATT version. I wonder if this has to do with voLTE....
I did find a backway to the network mode via *#*#4636#*#* but I am unsure of what I should be setting to "disable" lte while I'm in the building at work.
I think I've sorted this out now. If I change LTE/GSM AUTO to WCDMA preferred it seems to immediately switch and hold onto 4G. I do have to change it back. Maybe I will write something so I can quick toggle this since nothing on the app store seems to work.
hi,
If you are rooted ? You can use an xpose module called Intelli3G
I use it on my phone ,works 100% and switches smoothly/fast between eg 4G..3G automatic
eg if my data is of its on 3G as soon as i switch data on /wifi it changes to 4 G
For interest sake ,here is a link to market ,you can read desciption what it does ?

[Q] Force 2G Network Mode?

I am using Verizon Galaxy S5 on 4.4.2 Stock NCG with towel root applied.
The problem is that where I live, I have very weak 3G signals which makes my Verizon Galaxy S5 to automatically switch between the 2G and 3G network mode. Is there a way to force only 2G network? So that it doesn't switch to 3G automatically.
I have tried using the "Network" app from playstore. But when I run it, it get crash (Unfortunately, Network has stopped.)
Please help !!

I'm going to guess you never got this resolved? I've been searching ask over the net recently for solution to this very problem with no luck. Apparently Verizon didn't think that was a feature we would ever need. I just switched locations with my job and my new location has crap 3G and 4G coverage. A previous shift at my old location would only drop me down 30%, tops. However the same shift at the new location has me down 60% at least and I can only chalk it up to constant network searching...

I'm not sure if this will help, but it has helped some others with this issue. The problem with Verizon is that they really don't have an all out 2G network now. They use 3G, 4G (HSPA and HSPA+) and LTE. A lot of people notice poor 3G connections because the phone is trying to find and connect to an LTE frequency all of the time. I've recommended the app "Advanced Signal Status" to many people and it's helped resolve the issue for some. You get this app from the Play Store and it's free. Install it and open it. It may crash on you the first time because it's slow at asking for root permission. If it does crash just open it again and you should be prompted to grant root permission. Once opened, scroll to the bottom and hit Additional Info. It might ask you to promise you're a developer (aren't we all LOL) Once you confirm this you'll select Device information which is the first choice. After this you'll scroll until you see "Set preferred network type" Make sure you remember what it's alreadyset to so you can revert back when needed. By default it should be "LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)" You will change this to "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)" This should help you stay connected and have a stronger signal while on 3G. I hope this helps. If it doesn't, just change the network type back to what it was by default. Let me know what happens and I'll try to find another solution for you if this doesn't work.
Thanks a bunch! I have the app installed and I'll have to test it out the next few days, I'll update in a few days.thanks
In a perfect world this process would be automated based on location or time of day or Tasker... or better yet not a problem in the first place actually!

Maybe it'll get the job done for you. And it would be good if it could do it automatically for many people. For me though, I like doing everything manually to my phone that's possible, that way I know exactly what it's doing and when. If I had to pick something to be automatic, it would be things concerning network functions though.

Yes it's a very good app. And not only does it do what it's supposed to do, but it also helps with battery life when you have it locked to 3G. It can cause some pretty substantial battery drain on most phones when they're constantly looking for different types of networks. It requires more battery all together to stay connected to LTE because it's a weaker frequency and has less signal strength. We can't have it all though. At least it isn't an iPhone. Lol
i cannot select device info itself after promising to be a developer.

Network Mode not working

On my K3 Note, I can't pick preferred network mode on ANY rom/firmware.
I've tried everything, but it always sets the default preference which is 4G>3G>2G.
What I need though is permanent 2G and I can't set it this way. (4G signal is weak on my operator and then it keeps switching between 4G and 2G over and over)
Is there any way to entirely disable or block 4G on a phone so it will never set that mode again?
Any help would be appreciated!
Any help guys? No one knows what could be the issue?
I tried using the *#*#4636#*#* code and set the "GSM Only" but it still doesn't work.
Is anyone else having the same issue?
Edit:
Also what I've noticed is that while using CyanogenMod (atm), it stays on 2G until I turn the screen off. Then it goes back to 4G.
After turning the screen back on it then goes back to 2G again.
same problem here when dialling number it said invalid MMI code and when switching to 4g the other network appear no signal.. hope someone here have solution. i try several roms but same problem issue.
Well after a lot of fiddling, it seems it works on the stock firmware, but the mobile operator as himself has quite troubling network.
But I think we are slowly coming to a conclusion..

Switch network mode 2G/3G/4G (Tasker; without root) ?

Hi there.
Is there any way, to toggle network mode from 4G to 2G without root?
The problem is, that when im at work or at home, my 4G signal strenght is really weak, so it drains my battery too fast. When i manually switch to 2g, the signal strenght is good.
Is there any way without root to toggle network mode with tasker or other apps, while my smartphone is connected to my home or office wifi?
I tried AutoTools w/ tasker and changed the preferred_network_mode1 according to this tutorial, but it did not seem to work:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/6aif23/tip_change_network_type_2g_3g_without_root/
any help appreciated.
cheers

im on the international/european unbranded version.
yes, i do have that option but i would still like to use 4g, when not connected to my home/office wifi.
I hear ya, I'm on sprint which is a bit of a pain because it'll reboot phone when switched, try dialing *#*#info#*#* from dialer and you should be able to change network type from there on that model(yes I know not exactly what your looking for), but that's only thing I can think of without having to root or reboot phone each time(I don't own that model so I don't know that particular phones software)
