Enabled LTE Bands - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Is there any way we can check for enabled LTE bands on our Moto X Pure?
My carrier (Digi Mobil Romania) only works on TDD band 38, but my Moto X is unable to find that network.
Thanks!

As a new poster, actually I´m not so new to XDA I only can post URLs on posts created by me.
So, to answer several other questions I decided to post this to help others know which bands are compatible on Pure X Style:
Middle of the page, under Specifications:
Bands
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1700 (AWS),1900, 2100 MHz)
CDMA (800, 850, 1900 MHz)
4G LTE† (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41)

I have checked the official specs, everythings looks ok there.
I have even contacted the Motorola customer support. They confirmed band 38 is working on the XT1575.
But it isn't working for me.
That's why i started this thread.
Is there any way we can see what bands are actually enabled/working on our devices? Maybe an app or a hidden menu?
I have messed up the 4636 menu and had to factory reset my phone to get it working again.
Thanks!

Go into the 4636 menu and go to select radio band and try a different one than the default. Enable LTE ram dump and force LTE see if that helps?

Tried the 4636 menu, but i messed it up and had to factory reset the phone.

i dont even have those 3 selection in 4636 menu lol

This thread can be closed. My issue was with band 38, that was included in the original specs, but Motorola took it out after a while, and doesn't show up now.
It's weird and i don't understand how can an LTE band be removed from the specs, but that's another story.
Fortunately, band 38 is included in band 41, and i can access the network by forcing the phone to LTE (via xPosed /GravityBox).

HTC Snap (Telus) into GSM in canada ?

Hello is it possible to make a CDMA Telus Canada HTC Snap, work on Rogers Canada GSM networks, i see there is a Sim Card Spot for international Roaming but i was wondering is there a way too unlock it so i can use it on Rogers here in Toronto ?
Good news for Canadian readers – not only is the HTC Touch Pro 2 and HTC Snap going to show up soon Telus, but the CDMA EVDO devices will also be so-called World Edition devices ie. they will contain GSM circuitry allowing the devices to be used outside the confines of North America on GSM networks in Europe, East and Africa.
It appears such World Edition devices are becoming increasingly common on CDMA networks as the technology faces inevitable winding down in the near future.

I went to BestBuy to see a Snap today.
They don't even have the common courtesy to have devices that boot. Like you can easily see how it works by just looking at it.
Lame.

The HTC snaps they have don't have a trackball (which I would prefer).
here is what they have.
Just an update. Not sure if anybody is still wondering about this... but i have successfully unlocked a Telus HTC Snap and am currently using full data / exchange etc.
just have to update the gprs settings. also it thinks it is roaming.
I wanna get a custom 6.5 ROM on it, but I have yet to verify if anybody has been able to do it successfully. Anybody know? Maybe i will start a new thread...

How did you get it working, because I have a htc tytn II that I can't get working on the data with Telus im using wm6.5, do I have to go back to 6.1.
Thanks in advance and God Bless.
Is it possible to take out the d-pad from a snap and replace the trackball?

Htc pure 2100mhz/hsdpa

Hi
I've bought a HTC PURE AT&T, but I noticed on the box specifications it does not have 2100MHZ band. Vodafone provides HSDPA/3G on 2100 band in my country.
How can I activate HSDPA on 2100 BAND?
I have tried Advance Config application and have enabled HSDPA icons but it still only shows GPRS.
Will installing a new custom ROM fix activate HSDPA?
Thanks
Well you bought the wrong device. The Pure only supports UMTS850 and UMTS1900. You should have bought the European Diamond 2 for UMTS2100 support.

But this seems to be a screenshot from a Pure:
I think you onto something there Tom.
What is the menu path to get to that screenshot?
I still have the AT&T rom on, which I would like to uninstall( have already HARDSPL), but I want to install the HTC official 6.5 rom. Could the AT&T rom be hiding the functionality to choose the band?
Ok found in other posts there should be a band tab:
Settings/All Settings/Personal/Phone/Click on the Band Tab it is under the Selet your GSM/UMTS band.
But because i'm using AT&T ROM still I assume its been removed.
What application can I use to change the band? Will RegEdit work?
Radio bands are hardcoded into the processor. no way to change it. sorry

Go to following registry key [HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting] and change "ShowUMTSBandPage" to 1 will enable band selection page in phone settings.
there you are .. works on my stock rom .
Thanks that worked.
Now i'm able to select GSM(900+1800) + UMTS(900+2100)
but does this mean device is supposed to work on 2100mhz, because I still am not getting 3G?
nope it will not work, with no matter what software config u throw at it
i got a topaz and i am on the att network, i know the internet is slow but i dont really need it

Hi, sorry to dig up a relatively old thread, but im from Australia and am looking to purchase a HTC Pure. Problem is, my carrier runs on 900/2100Mhz for HSDPA.
Did changing the radio band work? Does the phone now work properly on 3G/HSDPA?
Also, how hard is it to access the registry key? Do i need to hack the phone in any way? Or is there a guide i can follow?
Thanks.

No, there is no way to make what the software says about the settings make the phone do something it cant. it PHYSICALLY cannot support 2100, as others have stated, it will not now nor ever work.

att has it listed as a world phone working in 2100 wcdma areas .. it worked for my aunt in japan .. AU i dunno but it can use 2100 .
From everything I have read and researched there is no way to change it. I believe the option of the 2100 is a carryover from the HTC Tilt 2 for AT&T. Tilt 2 has 2100 capability.

T-Mobile service menu access... (PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURES)

So i just found out from another thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11088696" that we can access the tabs service menu with the the following code (*#*#197328640#*#*). Now this is a LONG shot but here it goes, for all of those with more technical knowledge than myself, would it be possible to set the tab with Voice+3G using a T-Mobile sim through this menu or no? Just wondering but i am sure i will get bashed for this.
I tried that! The menu has the choices we want, but they don't do anything. I'm sorry you got nervous to post that idea! I wish it worked. Did you try it yet?

just noticed something interesting:
this picture shows all the bands while on voice+edge using Roto's modem switch:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and this picture shows all the bands while only on 3g using Roto's modem switch:
now clearly while on 3g the is an extra band, WCDMA 1700(FDD IV) , and it does not show up while on Voice+edge does this mean anything? i wished someone with technical knowledge regarding this would chime in....
sorry for the way the pictures are layed out.
Well that confirms what we all have experienced. The modem in use that allows voice calls to be made does not have theT-Mobile 3g Bands( Band IV/ AWS/1700). The original T-mobile modem does allow 3G access but does not allow voice. How we combine the two is the challenge.

Under cellular networks its a setting called enhanced 4g lte. That is what enables volte. *#*#4636#*#* will take you to a menu to check bands and other stuff.

WiFi calling and VoLTE both work out of the box on T-Mobile. You can download the LTE Discovery app which will tell you what band you're connected to
Enhanced 4G LTE Mode (VoLTE / HD Calling) works!

Sry. Didn't actually read. I just saw a new post and did not connect that you are the OP. Lol
Its an issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64227798
I am on fi now, but the first day I had the phone I put my tmo prepaid sim in. Noticed in the APN, the setting APN type was : default,supl
On my previous t-mobile branded phones the setting has been:
APN type: default,mms,supl
Not sure if it matters or resoved any problems, but I edited mine to match.

If I am on LTE with VoLTE, I stay on LTE. If I am on HSPA+, I drop to Edge while on a call.
Not all LTE towers support VoLTE yet. Find someone else on T-Mobile with a VoLTE and see if you get HD calling. You can really hear the difference. It sounds like a Skype to Skype call.
My APN settings are the defaults for T-Mobile. You can reset them to defaults when in the APN menu from the three dots drop down.
The first one if for data and Assisted GPS (default,supl).
The second one is Wi-Fi calling (ims). Not sure if it is used by VoLTE.
The third is for MMS (mms).

4G not working at all / 3G not fully working

Hi guys,
So when I was at Portugal, my JY S3, was working perfectly at 3G & 4G.
For professional reason, I had to move to Switzerland, near Lausenne.
According to them, they have coverage around 97/98% of the country with 3G, and around 90% for 4G. By the way, I bought Swisscom card and it supports 4G speeds.
But my phone, was never connected at 4G. And 3G only on some places.
I've checked the band modes on the phone, and my question is, if I can activate more bands?
I have the latest MadOS, 7.1.2, and I read somewhere that the Engineering mode is not working anymore.
According to this website, the phone is fully compatible with the Swisscom frequencies.
https://www.frequencycheck.com/carrier-compatibility/nEx24/swisscom-switzerland/devices?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q%5Bfull_name_cont%5D=jiayu+s3&q%5Bdevice_brand_id_eq%5D=&commit=Search
Can anyone help me?

Hi,
Yes I've checked the apn settings, and have confirmed against the ones from the Swisscom page, everything is the same.
Later on, I have found this website, which has the frequencies used by the carriers, and it has an option to check the compatibility of a mobile phone, and curious, the S3 is fully compatible.

I'm wondering that, actually, the fault is the operator that "forgot" to enable something.
I probably, will pass to a Swisscom store, to check.
Thanks anyway
