Dead Phone? (Stuck at samsung Logo) - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Decided to flash back to stock lollipop as I was going to send my phone back for repair, so flashed using odin. I got the message <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0). But then the phone just boots to the Samsung logo and goes no further. Then tried flashing twrp to see if I could recover one of my old backups, but doing that just takes me to download mode and every time I take the battery out and boot up I end up in download mode again.
Any other ideas? Thanks

Can you boot into the stock recovery after pulling the battery and inserting it again?
I'd suggest flashing the latest 4.4 rom for your region from sammobile.com with the correct pit file, and repartition ticked in odin.

Managed to rescue phone by booting to stock recovery and clearing data/cache.
Is it possible to revert back to kitkat using the procedure you outlined even if you have an updated bootloader? I.e it you've upgraded to lollipop via ota?

[Q] [SOLVED] Stuck in download mode! - Bricked?

Hey guys!
When i boot my phone i get this error:
"firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again"
I can't flash access recovery or Android OS, and i can't flash from Odin (No PIT-partition error)
What to do???
I am almost panicking - my phone didn't work earlier today because of CWM, so i tried to flash TWRP from Odin, and now I am screwed again!!
It this fixable?
Please help me
Thanks in advance
First thing you need to do is stop panicing. That will only make things worse. If you start messing with your phone, then prepare yourself that these things happen.
Also, there is little usefull information in your thread. If you want help, I suggest you make more work of you topic. What rom were you on? What did you do with CWM? What version where you on? What version of TWRP?
Can't you just flash CWM again and then flash a custom rom? If not, then try:
1. Do you have knox enabled bootloader?
2. If so, then flash any stock rom with a knox bootloader.
3. If not, then flash a stock rom without a knox bootloader.
4. Root again and flash recovery again.
5. Flash custom rom.

Be sure you have or get the official stock odin flash rom for your phone baseband/model
number from SamMobile.com. They only have official stock roms their with exact model
and basebands.
Make sure the battery is at least 50% charged.
Open odin and set it up so it's ready to flash.
Then remove the battery for 10 seconds & replace the battery then then hold/press the vol-down
and the power button at the same time until the phone is in download mode.
Connect the usb cable from computer to phone and then:
Be sure ODIN is ready to start, if it is then start the odin flash.
Have patience, after the flash it can take up to 4-5 minutes for
the phone to go thru the initial boot.
REMEMBER, only flash official and specific odin flash rom which is designed for
your phone's baseband and model number. Double check before flashing to be sure.
Also to avoid problems in the future, once you get your phone working properly
uninstall kies on your phone and in your computer.
Kies is really not required unless you plan to stay STOCK/UN-ROOTED and don't
plan to flash any custom roms, mod's, themes.
Good luck!
Solved it by using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
had to change to USB3.0-port before i could flash without getting an error.
Thanks for the help guys.

[Q] have i lost root forever ? help !

all.
I have an i9505 on 3 UK that has been rooted for over 6 months. I've been running the excellent TW based Echo Rom but wanted to try an ASOP rom but quickly wanted to revert.
I tried to restore my Nandroid but this failed and screwed up the phone (dont ask)so back to ODIN and i flashed back to stock 4.4.2 firmware for the UK via Sammobile (NG8)
Now back to square 1 so attempted to reroot with CF Autoroot again via ODIN. all show pass and i get the black screen on the phone with the red android logo and line stating stock recovery restored. I then used ODIN to flash Philz recovery again shown as Pass, however when i try to get into recovery i get some small white text on the bkack background that is there too briefly to read before the phone reboots as normal.
The Su superuser app is there but states the Su binary is outdated and the phone has no root access.
Ive read a few methods to get round this but they all seem to follow the same process ive tried a few times now.
The Rom for Echoe is auto root so id have thought if i could get to recovery somehow i could just flash this ?
Any one any views or have i screwed up for good ? .
You will be fine.
If you want to flash a custom rom anyway the shortest way would be to just flash the custom recovery. You don't need root for that.
Uncheck auto-reboot before you flash the recovery and it should work.

so i reflashed Philz recovery and unchecked auto reboot. This then gives me PASS in ODIN. I guess then i unplug and try and activate recovery - but still nothing...it just boots up normally ?

What is the model descriped when you are in download mode?

GTI9505...(Bootloader i9505xxegng8)
Originally I tried philz_touch_5.15.8-i9505.tar.md5
and then updated to philz_touch_6.23.9-i9505.tar.md5 with no avail.
Try redownloading it. If you say that if passes, then it should just work.
If it still fails then try TWRP. Uncheck auto-reboot before flashing.
Could it be connected to me flashing a generic unlocked UK firmware on a 3 UK handset ?
That's sorted it ! Flashed CWM recovery and am now running Echoes v28.
Thanks for the help. I was really panicking for a while.
I wont be changing roms for a while but I guess if I did I won't lose root ?

Stock ROM Backup

Hi,
I have rooted and installed TWRP on my 910F Note4 as I was fed up waiting on the lollipop update rolling out. I am currently on 4.4.4 and have made a full backup using TWRP of the stock rom.
My intention was flashing the Cyanogen ROM and using that, but i now see on sammobile there is a stock 5.01 rom available. I have a few questions about this.
1. If I flash to Cyanogen can I still revert back to the stock rom 4.4.4 I have made a backup with? I read somewhere there might be problems as I was on KitKat then moved to lollipop(Cyanogen).
2. Can I flash the stock lollipop rom from within TWRP? Or do you have to do this via ODIN?
3. If I flash the Lollipop stock ROM with Odin I assume I will lose root and TWRP? So this would have to done again?
Guess I am asking what is the best way to proceed?
Thanks again
Paul

hi Paul,
1. i beleve to flash CM from kitkat you will need to install the lollipop bootloader first.
2. You have to flash the stock rom via Odin, you will keep all apps settings and files but you will lose root (you u can re root in 3 minutes)
Best thing you could do is flash the stock rom first with odin, see how that feels (IMO its good been using it for months now) and then root it and back it up and flash CM12 (you dont have to flash any boatloader at this point)

Ok tried to flash Stock O2 UK lollipop ROM via ODIN and got error message on screen. MD5 too big or something. Had to pull battery on phone. Had to then reflash TWRP. Got back into TWRP and tried to do a recovery of the backup I took but phone is stuck at Galaxy note 4 screen. It then shuts down and restarts and gets to the same screen again.
Do I try a different ROM? What can I do?
Thanks

Note 4 910C Boot loop only with stock rom

I was playing around trying to install CM 12.1 for 910C and I did sucessfully using TWRP 2.8.1.2 and every thing went fine till i wanted to go back to stock rom (N910CXXU1COI4_N910COJV1COH1_N910CXXU1COI4) but after flashing with odin it starts with "installing system updates" but after like 25% it stops and writes "Erasing" then fall into a boot loop stuck on Samsung logo (and recovery shows KNOX: 1)
When I tried to install the custom recovery and rom the phone boots normally
Tried back and forth and tried CWM recovery but every time i go back to stock i get stuck
Any help
Thanks

Did you do a SWM recovery before flashing CM12? Hopefully...
If so restore that. If not, lesson learned.
What were you running before you tried CM12?
Looks like it was older than COI4 and it knows it.
Knox is 1 because it knows you flashed something other than an official stock rom.
I use stock. Flash twrp and wide and flash cm 13. After odin stock and bootlook
Please help me. I speek englis not good. Sorry
1. before that I was using Stock (XSG-N910CXXU1COI4-20150925140936) 5.1.1 flashed through odin and Knox was 0
2. I then installed TWRP 2.8.2.1 then installed (cm-13.0-20151215-UNOFFICIAL-treltexx) then (cm-12.1-20151202-UNOFFICIAL-treltexx)
3. then I flashed the COI4 again and it did the problem
I did not install any radios bootloaders or kernels
the weird thing is that now all roms i download other that CM gives me zip verification error and cannot install
so is there any solution ?
Thanks

Not sure how I can state it any clearer than this
Knox is 1 because it knows you flashed something other than an official stock rom.
You will never be able to fix/clear it. You have tripped the Knox security.
Perhaps you should do more reading before you attempt things on your phone.

Flash a stock ROM. The COI4 is good, it's working. What you are missing is after you get stuck on the logo, try pulling the battery. Boot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset. That should fix it.

N9005 custom ROM cannot go back to Stock

Hey all,
I hope everyone is well. I'm having some issues with my Note 3 N9005 intl variant.
I am currently running Resurrection Remix Marshmallow (6.0.1) and its pretty stable and is a good daily driver however it has some bugs that I'm not a fan of. I used Odin to re-flash the stock ROM I got from sammobile back on to my Note 3 (N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005BTUGBOJ1_BTU) however every time I flash it, I am stuck on a boot loop. This is also the case if I try to flash another custom ROM using TWRP, so I am not sure what is wrong.
[Edit] I tried to flash the purify kernel for this ROM however this also results in a bootloop. Currently I am on the kernel that came with this rom which is the temasek kernel
[Edit2] I've managed to get to the samsung logo but its been 10+ minutes and I am still on the pulsing samsung logo. I've done a battery pull and I've also done the cache partition delete and factory reset from the recovery menu, however I am still stuck on the pulsing samsung logo.
Thanks guys
Does Odin successfully flash the stock firmware? You confirmed the model # in download mode?

Odin says that the stock firmware has been successfully flashed. As for the download mode it says the following:
Product name: SM-N9005
After flashing a stock ROM, are you booting the phone into recovery and performing a factory reset before flashing the newly-installed stock ROM for the first time?

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean I flash the stock and then boot into recovery and factory reset before the first boot? Or I should flash the stock and then factory reset and then reflash the stock ROM?
