Rooted My s6 edge+ and now i need help - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I've been a longtime iPhone User, Since the first one infact and the new 6s didnt really impress me so I decided to jump ship and try the android world. I was always a jailbreaker and I decided i was going to root my phone to get the benefits but I ran into a problem. The root went well but since I rooted my phone wont remember Wifi Passwords. If i leave wifi on and leave my house and come back its fine but if I switch Wifi Off then I have to re enter the wifi code. Is there any way to fix this? If not is there an easy way to unroot and restore?
Thanks

It's a very easy fix you'll need a build.prop editor which you can find on Playstore then open your build.prop editor and change ro.securestorage.support from true to false then reboot you'll have no problems after that. I've attached a screen shot to show what it should look like

Thanks man that worked like a charm. Any chance you could tell me what you can do with a root? I did it for adblock but can't seem to find it anywhere and all the stuff from xposed installer don't seem to work for me it says framework not updated or something like that.

Lots of fun with root I use it to debloat my device to increase performance and battery life via a custom kernel You can flash custom Roms and themes as well for customisation. Here's my Dropbox link for AdAway
https://www.dropbox.com/s/oa0lsdv7v2auk01/AdAway-release_Build-02.28.14.apk?dl=0
Install and reboot

Yea thanks to all the hacking guys here, our phone is now finally rooted, and so we are able to add Hebrew on the xperia, its very simple, download from the market "israelpack" and install fonts, then download anysoft keyboard + Hebrew extension and you are ready to go.

joel and amir, i have been trying to root my device and haven't been successful. i had a look at the thread here and it simply isn't working. i had a lot of errors till i got to where i am (mostly java errors that were resolved by upgrading and setting the path). i have completed everything, but for some reason when i download and try to install the israelpack, it says that i do not have root permissions. any ideas?
phone details are:
x10i
firm v 1.6
bb v 1.1.27
kernel 2.6.29 rel
build r2ba023
first thing to try is reseting your phone and REDO STEP 3 ONLY, Reset again.
Good luck.
no good
this could only mean that the rooting wasn't successful
any other addon you can thinkoff for me to test to see if i am able to gain access to the root?
OK - i finally foound out what i was doing wrong, and this could be something that might have to be added in the steps when rooting, but that is for a different thread.
joel, i added israelpack and the anysoftkeyboard with hebrew ext. how do i use it? do i have to install it after downloading? the israelpack works fine after the reboot.
he he - fixed it as well

Rooted phone refuses to activate fully

Hey there. I have a rooted Sprint Galaxy S5. Recently I realized the WiFi Hotspot I'm paying for just doesn't work. It enables. It allows devices to connect. It remains turned on. But any device that connects to my phone fails to achieve an Internet connection.
Yesterday I took my phone in to a Sprint representative who spent a valiant amount of time trying to fix my phone. Unfortunately when he entered ##72786#, the phone started an update process that completely screwed up my activation. I believe he later reprogrammed the phone, but the S5 is still obsessively trying to "finish" activating.

}
(fun fact: right now when I google "reporting firmware version to server ", nothing is returned. Maybe this'll put it on the map.)
When it's done trying, I see "firmware update not completed."
I've been seeing these messages since yesterday. And I hadn't no idea if any of this has to do with my device being rooted. Rooting is really all I've done, no ROMs or anything of that nature have been attempted... only SDFix and SELinux Mode Changer were run using it.
But I HAVE had activation woes before. When I enabled tethering on my phone, it took the better part of the day for sprint to reactivate it. And I was flying, so the process took several major cities before its success. And this was well before I rooted.
Tl;dr is it possible to use the stock Hotspot and reactivate your sprint phone while rooted with your device in a Custom status?

I'm probably just going to factory reset my phone. Is it safe to do when rooted?

I did it via Samsung Kies... this seemed safest. I used to have negative experiences with custom ROMS and ultimately decided this was the best way to go forward.
P.S. Kies is like iTunes but it doesn't suck and it doesn't require a whole lot of authentication. I just learned this. I did a text message backup and restore and that worked great. An app backup was a lot more hit-and-miss; only the apps were backed up, not the data.
So you fixed it this way? ☺

You can easily root your note 5 at this link
MOD Edit: Please do not direct traffic to your own ad infested blog to make money for you
Try all available rooting ways in this post ,maybe you will get your phone rooted ,or you can wait until i find the 100% working rooting way, and i will post it here .
This looks fishy
This does not work for me. Device gets not detected...
Fake
Need to wait for Chainfire to release autoroot for note 5 then...

you have to download Samsung drivers first for your not 5 from here or you can search it on xda forum And you have to enable usb debugging
I did, but it is stuck at "Detecting device".
I updated this post with another rooting tools
Any opinions regarding rooting Note 5....
... with respect to Sprint, T-Mobile vs AT&T and Verizon?
Will there be the same problems with Verizon and AT&T Note 5 with locked bootloader as there were with the Note 4s?
Based on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016,
maybe all Note 5 versions will behave similarly, since it's just a knock-off off the Galaxy S6 ?!?
Any help appreciated a lot! - Looking to buy next Friday and Sprint is more expensive, but I need some chance of proper root in the not too distant future...

I suppose the guys behind ping-pong root can help us out....

Not unless they find a brand new exploit. The ping ping root exploit has been closed and never open for business again.

Gear VR Not Working On Xposed Stock Rom, Needing files I think

I'm using a slightly modded and xposed mod for my USC 6Edge+ (r4). Anyway, I got a gear VR, but it will not work. Initially, I just tried sideloading the oculous store then I realized I was probably missing more than I initially expected.
I did some research and there are APK for:
Gear VR Service
Gear VR Setup Wizard
Gear VR Setup Wizard Stub
Grear VR Shell
I managed to find the first two but the second two are nowhere to be found. Im not even sure if they are phone dependent. As I said, I use Galaxy S6 edge 64GB (US Cellular) Phones - SM-G925R
Is it possible for anyone to pull these APKS to see if I can get this thing to work?
Thanks for your help!

IT's just new to me, I've no idea how to take care of this. My best guess for immediate results is to downgrade but if there were a more skilled person to come along I;m sure they could pull them no problem.

so i know how to extract but i'm now on nougat and i dont know to downgrade because its impossible because samsung did something that you cant downgrade (modem, bootloader etc...) sry for my english^^ i hope you understand what i mean
i tried it to install all the files (gear vr setup etc.) but i got network error.. i think we must edit the build.prop
edit: so i installed oculus home and the other stuff.. i read other threads.. i know the problem... its the problem with Csc files.. for android nougat isnt available..

MM, Nougat, stock, root...Which has best overall performance and reliability?

I'm rooted via instruction from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/how-to-root-s7-edge-t3410470 and continually have to adjust settings just to have mediocre performance, not even to speak of other issues there seems to be no workaround for (like the OS not being able to handle background apps properly so I'm getting notifications late, or not at all...But I DO get notifications from apps/games I haven't opened or played in a week). I also signed the petition to unlock the bootloader. I WANT the keep the fight going, but I NEED a properly working phone more (ultimately, my way to really show my dislike of Samsungs lockdown decisions is when I buy my next phone from someone else!).
So I ask, what should I put on my phone for the most reliability and performance? Is that the current stock Marshmallow? Nougat? Or something else?
Thank you.
Stock whatever if you really wanted root sorry to say this is not the phone for you.
Stock TMO Nougat, very closely followed by stock Universal Marshmallow. Some people are experiencing very minimal lag with rooted TMO Nougat, which gives me hope for rooted Universal Nougat.
Definitely rooted nougat.

Care to share your kernal settings? I'm having a very bad time with my root on ENG kernal. Do you suggest a different method?
Thanks for the replies folks. I decided to go with stock nougat and so far it's been like a breath of fresh air when you've been breathing nothing but convoluted smog and I haven't even debloated it yet.

Seems to me root isn't the way anymore forbs7, lot of bricked phones, everyday people saying they're stuck in a boot loop or its laggy after root. The only reason I would want to root is to disable native upsampling across the whole system. Right now disadvantages > advantages imo. Other than that there is nothing else I want to do that I can't already do with Nougat and formely MM on my S7E.
I wish they would release the U version...
