You are correct
Just bought a brand new S5 and the main reason I want to root is to be able to change privacy settings which can only now be done through root (app ops doesn't work 4.4.2) and I hear xprivacy is way better than that any way.
My question is, how do I root and get xprivacy without tripping Knox? It new so I want to keep my warranty.
Also, if I was to unroot would that trip knox?
So um anyone?
Btw I have the g901f version.
So yeah...
Btw is there even a root for my s5 version? Modl number in previous post.
Try towel root?

I think it won't trip knox, since it was successful on S5 and some older device.
But if that towelroot can used to root this note 4.
I heard towelroot isn't updated anymore and can't root newer device.
But you always can try and report here..
Thabks a lot for the answer
Towelroot was patch about a week after it was out so it no longer works if you really care about knox wait for someone to do a Rom rooting it without tripping knox otherwise Chainfires root will trip knox
Sorry if it has been asked before, but I couldn't find it through search.
So the question is, is it possible to root S7 Edge without tripping knox? Even a temporary root that doesn't trip knox would be acceptable (even though the phone will lose root after restarting).
Thanks!

Really? This has been answered a million times already . . .
Rooting AND custom ROM will trip KNOX, and you can't use i.e. Samsung Pay anymore...

Thanks. Well I was hoping that there might be a method for some type of temp root that wouldn't trip KNOX.

rooting without tripping knox isnt possible afaik. Why does tripping know concern you? Warranty claims for S5's have rarely been hindered by a knox counter issue

You could try to use cowroot, but it's temporary, and it was patched with december security patch...I haven't tried it though...but it could works:good:
EDIT:
If it works it won't trip knox but when you have root permission if you try to install custom recovery with something like "dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery" from terminal emulator and you reboot into recovery mode, you will trip knox (same thing with the kernel).
