Hi Everyone
The Engadget show, demo'd some great UI's from TAT using 3D on a desire!
Take a look:

or direct on youtube:

could be a real possibility! Hope its gets leaked!

The clip from Engadget is much better, the host even jokes about the apk file
OH MY LIFE!
Been waiting on news from TAT for months. Glad to see it working on the Desire. Doubt itll leak though, theyve been testing for a year or so and no one has dropped anything. Dont wven know if any testers had posted anything about it.
Sent from my HTC Desire
The demo showcases what is possible with the desires hardware and possible routes for future smartphone UI's
It can offer us so much more. Just need more devs on board!
Well, if we can generated a lot of interest, we might see some movement from TAT!

Just shows that HTC arent the only ones to make a great overlay system on Android. Theyve taken the benchmark and gone an extra mile with their work.
I absolutely love everything ive seen from TAT, its just visually stunning and looks easy to use. Heard they arent going to release it publically via the market etc, but that was a while ago and its come a long way since then.

wow thats awesome.
hope its not true that they wont release it publicly
thats pretty immense.
not a fan of sense, and android being ugly, this pretty much has me gobsmacked.
would happily kill people to get this.
I'm sure someone would be able to "acquire" this, seeing as the people here have repeatedly performed the impossible, and done nothing short of miracles
I look forward to this, even more than gingerbread or the new sense
only problem now, this will now haunt my dreams till it's on my desire

Over a year of testing on old devices and now up to date ones, not a single apk has been leaked. Theyve done the best job at keeping it hush than any other devs and im impressed by it. Annoyed, but impressed
Sent from my HTC Desire
They have apparently released a few TAT home beta "previews"
"Why wasn't I part of the UX Preview?
We were completely overwhelmed by the number of people who signed up. To keep things under control and take care of feedback in a good way, we could send the preview out to only a few of the 60,000 who offered to participate."
http://tat.se/home/
Surely someone would of leaked it, but heh.
EDIT: It seems like the UI is a "for sale" basis to vendors who want a custom UI. So no marketplace apk, maybe a flashable zip, but chances are, it's going to be like sense. A major annoyance
Found a Fuse concept phone bearing the TAT3D which has been designed by thealloy.com, who, judging by their website, have worked with several large UK companies to bring "interesting" styles to the home...

Yes that may be, but since they got it working on the desire there must be some kind of apk that works. We'll just have to wait and see...

Who has contacts at TAT?
Oh my ***! Astonishing!
Any Swede here who lives near Malmö who can go visit them?
Great eye candy...yeah. Practical...no. I mean, who looks at their phone when its parallel to the ground. Everyone tilts it a little bit. So imagine tilting it, and the view changes!!! And all you wanted was a simple contact list!!! So i think i'll pass on this one.
Sent a few emails to thealloy.com, trying to find out some info about the Rom on the FUZE, but I doubt they'll be happy sharing the Rom from their new phone...

Without actually using the app, how can one dismiss the concept so quickly? I guess the tilt with have accelerateometer setting allowing you to adjust sensitivity. If you need a simple contact list, open the stock contact widget!

So...who wants to build the first 2.3 ROM? (Well...when the source code is released. )
that would be so exciting, gingerbread looks so refined. The keyboard screens I've seen look nearly identical to the iphone, and that is to date the best on-screen keyboard. I'm stoked.
Let's set the timer for htc, I wonder how long it will take them to push a sense version out? I hope to see the new sense from the desire and also a full bluetooth stack, im dreaming big but that's the reason for the season!
Come on guys!! I just came back to NY trusty ole dinc(from DC, fascinate) and can't wait. HTC Makes the most customizeable phones(don't use ****ty RFS filesystem Samsung uses) and they don't give u a ****ty source to work with and RIL dlfrom android 1.5( talking to you Samsung) this should be exciting!!!

I figure that since essentially the incredible and the media one are the same phone it shouldn't be too terribly difficult to get a port this way. If I was smarter and could do this stuff is being all over it, good thing we have people who actually ARE that smart... lol. First dev to get it up and running will get a 24 pack from me, donation wise at least.

This is probably a silly question, but can I not just download Gingerbread and install it, or do I *need* to get a customized HTC version?
You need the version made for your phone.. So yea the HTC versiob
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Anybody know if we are getting an official upgrade?. Or is this phone too old now lol.
Edit: just read the new features list. Oh man I just got really excited. Gyrosensor support, dual camera support, better keyboard, better power management, better 3d performance, Better copy/paste. I can't wait. I'd say 2.3 is on par with iOS now for some cool hardware

It would be really nice if HTC supported the incredible, but I won't be surprised if it isn't. However there are a few reasons why we might get it (and they're all purely speculation):
1. Evo and Incredible run off very similar framework/hardware, would be two birds one stone sort of deal to help reinforce customer loyalty
2. The original Droid got froyo and that was almost a year after its release. We are in a similar situation and seeing how cool HTC is with updates we might get lucky.
3. Our hardware is still well within the requirements for gingerbread. As a matter of fact the Nexus S has a 1Ghz processor so there's no reason from a hardware standpoint NOT to do it.
Conversely, HTC did out a number of new devices (G2, MyTouch 4G, Desire Z etc) which might be a higher priority for them to get on gingerbread. Its hard to know for sure, but speculating is fun

The Nexus One is getting Gingerbread today and the Incredible/Evo have almost identical hardware, so I say the odds are in our favor. If not, we will definitely get a port from the Nexus One or an AOSP build from one of our great developers.
alright i am a sickass noob! *cant express that enough* i mean it even took me like 5 min to find a way to post something on this *so yes this is my first time posting something*, i am just wondering if i am rooted *which i am* and a new update comes out, ei Ginger, how would that effect my phone if i clicked update? would it update my phone and i'd lose root? or would it simply brick my phone? real curious havent been able to find a plain answer anywhere
If u are stock rooted without having removed any of the factory bloatware then if u click update is will simply apply the.update and you will not be rootes anymore. Wala

Really liking the new keyboard. I've not been a fan of any 3rd party keyboards (I'm still using the HTC one), but this may replace it. The only problem with it right now is the autocorrect doesn't work right. Don't want to send a bunch of messed up messages to folks.

Many times it does, but I find it fixes common typos pretty well. The main thing I hate about the HTC keyboard is the autocorrect... I'm NOT a fan of it just popping up there and then it being difficult to get it off the screen or saving a bad spelling in the dictionary. I guess that could be reason enough to turn it off though... lol.
According to the video on the nexxus s site its not just autocorrect but autolearn and correct so the auto correct adapts to the user better thus eliminating the usual hatred for most autocorrects. So far is learning me quiet well.
Here is a flashable of the gingerbread keyboard...
Should work on all roms

As someone who has owned an iPhone4, only thing better is the camera, and I guess the screen, but I don't really care about that.. Show them ANYTHING ELSE and they will be impressed.
Also, I bet when the Evo was announced, the person making the announcement was able to get a data connection on their phone.

.... why doesn't the iphone have widgets? such a fail. Thats the biggest thing its lacking imho.
Hm... Widgets. 'Nuff said. I'd like to see an iPhone search the App Store from the phone's homescreen. Or for that matter do anything besides open its programs. I would have thought the big clock and weather widget on the main Sense screen would be enough, that was honestly part of why I chose the Evo over the Epic. (that and a dislike of Samsung after my horrible experiences with my last phone)
edit: yes, show him custom ROM loading and backup, plus how easy it is compared to the iPhone.
steve jobs.. dont believe in widgets!
Wireless tether, hulu, and Angry Birds. When I first got my evo the Iphone people would eventually default back to "I got angry birds" since that was the only thing their phone could do that mine couldn't. I suppose you could show them qik even though it sucks, it is definatly going to be the future of phone callls.
Nobody take me wrong but at times I kinda regret not going with the evo just because its forums are fast moving and really active. like I said none take me wrong because I love my shift its so smooth. I thought all android was like this but I'm proud to say my phone runs android smooth. I thought this phone was going to be a hit like the evo. I'm hoping in general things take off. Anyone having the same feelings about the evo shift?
Sent from my HTC speedy using Xda Premium
Development is going fine, most of the development goes on behind the scenes and there are a lot of non-public builds out there.
Most of the action is in the IRC right now. I'd say about 1/2 of the builds are on the irc only. Some of the best builds are on the irc, or released early with bug fixes in irc. Things have taken off, but it's mostly behind the scenes.
I don't regret getting a shift at all =P
In no way do i regret getting a shift
No regrets here! My girlfriend has the evo so I've played with it since it came out and this was my upgrade from the hero. I love this phone! Lol
Sent from my PG06100
I'm rooted but still running the stock rom. The phone runs smoother than the Evo (especially when running live wall papers) and battery life is much better when the phone is in use. I'm not blown away by the phone like when I first purchased the Evo, but I still think the Shift is a better phone. I thought I would miss the bigger screen of the Evo, but the sharpness of the Shift's screen almost makes up for it.
All I'm waiting for in a custom rom is one that has toggle switches in the pull down notification bar.
My perception of the Shift is that development does move slower than I had hoped/expected. That's just my perception coming from the Hero. (Not slighting those doing the good work.) However, my "regret" comes from personal tastes.
- I don't need a physical keyboard and the added bulk has started to bug me
- The keyboard slider isn't as tight as I feel it should be, and makes the phone feel a little more cheap that I'd prefer.
- Small design elements bother me (Chrome trim and circles, blue...)
The main "regret" feeling now comes from the Nexus S 4G that's rumored to be announced at CTIA. Likely selling the Shift to pick that up if it's released relatively soon.

Did you remove the plastic from the back? If you did, that's probably why. I left it on and it's pretty tight.
Ahh me too!i wish i would have waited for the nexus from sprint but my heros charger port failed so i had to get something fast.=/ im have faith for the shift development.the hero rom development was amazing!!it made me love the phone.Im just looking forward to what everyone can do with the shift also im hoping in a camcorder mod or something like the nexus one did =] im sure it is possible.im starting to get into cooking some roms and everything but i just havent gotten it all down yet.my shift makes me wanna learn though!alot more than my hero!and the keyboard does feel a bit loose after a while but ive always had that problem with phones with slide out keyboards.i just hope it doesnt mess up like one of my old phone that caused the screen not to be touch able anymore.Dont Regret!give it time!

I'm very happy with my phone. It's as if HTC remade my Moment awesome.
^ Shift Faced
The Shift is still a young platform, give it time. The EVO has had almost a year head start on the Shift as far as development goes, so it's no surprise that the community would be booming over there.
I too had this same question when it came time to upgrade. As a Hero CDMA user, I enjoyed a fantastic, active community, even for a phone that was based on ARMv6. If a phone of that caliber STILL has a community as vibrant as it is, the Shift is SURE to foster a wonderful kitchen of ROM creation and hacking. We've already got some excellent folks on board (I'm looking @ you NFX!) and more will come as people upgrade their phones.
I much prefer HTC builds to the likes of Samsung. The slide on my Shift is taught and feels solid - I too left the plastic on the back / edges. When the time came to select a phone, I tried everything at T-Mobile and Sprint and the only phone that would have enticed me away from the Shift would have been the G2. That second gen Snapdragon / Adreno 205 rocks my socks. So fast, so smooth.
I love this phone.
(ps. I also did not want a physical keyboard, but I'm falling in love with it, ESPECIALLY when ssh'ing into a box or using the terminal emulator)

Hi ushare!
Have you take a look at this thread? It's created by MarylandCookie.

will it work on the s2 as well??
Why don't you just trade in your phone for a Sensation and save yourself some cash?
Bout the s2 because of its beautiful external look. Love the slimness and features.!!
Anyone interested??
Maybe Kenia1234 or apreichner can be enticed to develop their sgs1 / nexus s sense ports to the sgs2

If I'm not mistaken, porting Sense would involve porting an entire HTC ROM over to the S2 since Sense relies heavily on HTC frameworks that are embedded everywhere in the ROM

according to you, the HD2 should not be modded either, with its support for WP7, MEEGO, LINUX, wm6, etc etc
shame on you for preventing development. no flaming in the forum remember? nothing is "absolutely ridiculous" here
on another note, if all radio functions (bt, gps, 3g, gsm, gm, etc) works in the sense rom I am willing to pitch $50
