So, I got my OnHub sometime ago. But I haven't took it out of the box yet.
My friend was one of the early adapters of the chromecast but he took it out of the box too early and it updated so that he wasted a rootable system. When I got mine, they are no longer with the first version of the OS.
I don't want what happened on chromecast happen again with my OnHub, so for now it is just another paper weight on my desk.
Am I being silly? Should I keep it in the box?
Also, do you guys think there will be third party roms coming to OnHub?
Thanks!

Anyone still owns/use one? such a great device but pity they killed it for the sake of their own pockets.
it would be nice if someone still develops for this device as its still lacking in comparison to other more mature products
afaik it is still an android based device like the motoactv so it would be great to have similar development on it

Still have mine, and have purchased several smart watches during that time -have to say the WIMM is my favorite ... waiting for my Kickstarter Pebble shortly and I don't know if I am going to give up the WIMM even then. There is a developer forum out there that carries on with alpha and beta apps for the WIMM, although I do not know how often people submit.

Do you happen to know the name of this developer forum? Or are you referring to WIMM's official developer forum?
Still have mine, have been wearing it and using it daily for over a year and love it. However, I am considering selling it as I have started training as a private pilot and could do with a no-nonsense analogue chronometer. Certain key features in particular I will really, really miss - the ability to sync with both my personal Google calendar and my work Exchange calendar are truly priceless. Open to offers if anyone wants to buy my Wimm - one of the very few in the UK (I DHL'd it from the US and like a good boy paid all import taxes and duties - I really don't want to think about how much it set me back...) but will consider posting abroad.
Cheers,
Tim

I'd like to bump for this.
well apparently it has been reviewed who bought wimm and went into an exclusive deal, it was google
i wonder if there is any new firmware releases that would complete the device / add new features whether its from google or 3rd party independent devs
Oh, at last WIMM One appeared on the stage of smart watch forum in XDA...
See also this was afaik the main thread for WIMM One :crying:

Just bought a Wimm One on Ebay. However, I'm afraid to do a reset because I'm not sure if it absolutely needs to connect with the old Wimm server to set itself up and I don't know that the server is still up and running. I don't want to get it into a loop that I can't get out of so I'm just using it as a watch with some pretty cool watch faces. Does anyone know if the Wimm server is still running and accepting new user accounts? I'd still love to find a current forum with people still playing around with the Wimm.

As far as I know, the server is still running, but they haven't been accepting new accounts for over a year. The person that sold you the watch would need to give you their login credentials; once you have them, you can change everything over into your name, and also change the username. That's what I did for the user that bought mine.
Thanks Uncle Louie, that's what I thought. I asked the seller before I bid if he had set up a Wimm account and he said no. I took a chance and bought it anyway. I saw another thread somewhere on here where someone had the same problem and was looking for an ex-Wimm user to get their account information. Do you happen to know if doing a reset will put the watch in a loop or if I can just revert to using the built in apps?
Wimm One user account
Any old Wimm One users out there who wouldn't mind passing their Wimm user account on to me? I have a Wimm that has never been activated and the Wimm server no longer accepts new accounts. If your watch is long gone your account isn't doing you any good and it would be much appreciated by this new Wimm owner.
hmm my wimm stopped syncing for quite a while now, i'm wondering if their servers are still up or did they just abandoned us who have supported their devices?
ever since they were bought by google we were left in the dark. is there any 3rd party forum or dev or support dedicated to this device?
i really dont want to throw it in the bin especially since so far no other smartwatch got the screen right
@akromatic. I finally got an account for my Wimm and it's still synching fine as of this morning.

cool, good to know that servers are not completely dead, no idea how long does this status quo would remain when they finally axe all support.
my wimm stopped syncing quite a while back and still couldnt get it to sync. website still says it as linked by the watch itself says unlinked and it seemed all the official support channels got axed aka the forums

I bought mine a few weeks back, synced right up, got myself an account, downloaded every app, dug up the dev files on various servers and even have both companion apps. You can still use vshare to install it on a jailbroken i-phone but it won't be int he store. It's still in the android app store though. The neat thing about this unit is the dev ability built in. So presumably it won't be an issue to flash either a custom build or an Android wearables build. At least that's my hope. It's really more of a novelty to me right now
Try going in to your wimm account and delinking the watch. Then fire up the companion app, login and relink it.
Stopped syncing July 8
My Wimmone stopped syncing on July 8, 2014. Happens to be just about 2 years after acquired by Google. I checked, it till finds my Wifi, so got to be the site. Went to their site and it won’t allow me to sign in. Anyone else now having trouble, still syncing, etc.
Thanks,
Clark
I'm having the same problem, won't sync anymore. Interestingly, my news feeds are still updating.

So far 13 days since I filled in a support request
1st one for non-delivery of second controller (they have since sent out info to eveyone saying second controllers will be delivered etc etc...)
but never heard anything via support about my direct question.
2nd - Only about 5 days ago
My Ouya is bricked sort of, after the last automatic update it is now stuck in a boot loop, Red/White flashing Ouya icon, then a black screen, then reboots and doe the same again and again.
Still no direct reply from their support about either
Maybe they should redirect their @playouya tweet workers into their pretty slack support team instead of sending out tweets about how happy everyone is and how wonderful their product is.
Just my afternoon grumble...
Pretty much the same issue here. Get the Ouya logo, flashes 4 times, screen goes black for a split second, then repeats.
11 days with nothing but the automated response...
I sent in two support tickets over a month ago and still haven't heard anything aside from the auto-reply. I was hopeful at first, buut I'm not holding my breath anymore.
I actually got fairly quick responses and solutions to the horrible controllers I originally received - but that was back in May because I managed to luck out and get my KS console in one of the first waves before they ran out of replacement "correct" controllers and started getting deluged under a pile of support requests as people actually got their consoles that had supposedly been shipped weeks earlier. (kind of like how the problems with the controllers had supposedly been fixed months before mine was shipped but I still got two controllers with problems they had said were fixed long before mine shipped.)
And to be honest even that wasn't what I'd consider "quick" just "fairly quick" it was a few days to get an actual response which then requested more info and while I replied almost immediately with what they asked for it was another couple of days for the next response which came with a tracking number for the replacement controllers - but even though they generated the tracking immediately it was almost a week before they actually shipped them.
Really not sure how they couldn't have anticipated the size of support staff they'd be needing since it sure seems obvious to me like they were fully aware that they were shipping buggy hardware at least to some KS backers. All I can guess is they were assuming that a lot of the KS backers weren't actually interested in getting a functional console/controller(s) but had deluded themselves into thinking that people were backing solely because they liked the idea.
I posted a ticket about my 3d not working on zen pinball. Got this automated reply. We'll see how long it takes them to tell me they don't support side loaded games.
"Hey there, thanks for dropping us a line. We realize auto-responses suck, but wanted you to know we’re on it! We are working around the clock to answer your questions as quickly as we can (with the most up to date info). Right now, it can take up to 2-3 business days to respond but we aim to be faster."

None same behavior from imwatch
Im currently going through one of my tickets still with OUYA about the new console.
Im a little pissed.
My GF bought it for me for xmas when I mentioned interest and I loved it. I was actually a kickstarter donator (only like 20$ but still).
Any way my games were UNPLAYABLE. The lag and issues I had with the controller were just abysmal to the point of near screaming.
I decided to open a ticket with OUYA and that was a PITA. I opened a ticket for a new controller. I got a response and no matter how many times I emailed for an ETA they gave me none. My friend the next state over opens a ticket the next week and gets an ETA a day later. Needless to say I was PISSED. Luckily he gave me permission to use his info as to why he got an ETA so fast and his controller was being shipped and mine was is limbo.
When I finally got mine they had the audacity to tell me I HAD TO PAY to ship the old one back. My buddy basically said screw them and kept his, but to me it was useless and I wanted to stay in good graces for future warranty issues and paid the 6$ cheapest shipping with tracking to get it back to them.
I had to move my console out of my tech area which was a neatly built and shelved doorless closet to my right where my ps3, 360, 2 media PC's and any other equipment I had (all hardwired no wifi) to under my TV on its side in front of me with all my wires now in a tangled mess line of site like it was a ball of string unraveling.
No more than a couple days after I get my controller this version is announced and it would seem the plastic case and enhanced wifi/new firmware is a fix to the horrid controller system they use. I emailed them because technically I was still within my 30 days with target to return the console and had someone mentioned this new version I would have returned it and just got this one.
Right now Im going through it with them again to see if I can exchange this one for the new one and pay the difference but they say I will then have to pay MYSELF AGAIN to mail the old system back to them.
Sorry I had high hopes for this but Ive lost all interest after this.
I feel so bad because now I HAVE to turn this hunk of crap on every few days and goof with it or my GF thinks it was a bad gift. There are really some neat games. I have bought quite a few already and have all the emulators loaded but the controls and lack of REAL MEDIA APPS (netflix, hulu, prime, etc) make this thing not worth the 100$.
U can sideload Netflix it works great with the controller my kids use it everyday...
Sent from my TegraNote-P1640 using XDA Premium HD app
I use mine as a NES,SNES, PSX emulator as well as watching movies using MX Player. I only payed $30 for mine. It works well.
XBMC
Make it your dedicated XBMC box. Thats why I bought mine.
You could have just mentioned the poor controller reception part. You didn't have to complain about the 2 cables coming out of the Ouya and into the TV making your shelf look messy. And they accepted your return, obviously admitting the problem of defect controllers and trying to help.
Some people have DOA and some people don't, it happens to everyone. If you want it to be everything you thought it would then either ship the controller back for a new one, or use something else, almost anything will do (xbox 360 wired, ps3 sixaxis, dualshock, Moga, madcatz) I've tried some of those myself and now consider this my perfect retro gaming device with tight controls, high compatibility, and updated graphics. As for home media either install some of the sideloaded streaming apks like netflix or hulu (there are guides on here) or connect a flashdrive/external to it with your purchased media to watch through vlc, mx player, or xbmc.
There really are a lot of options and this device is made to be tinkered with, it's android for one, the company was promoting developers to hack it, and all software is freeware/trial with sideload options. :good:
Mine sat in a box for 8 months whilst I tried and failed several times to return it to Jide as it had a dead pixel. Couldn't find a courier to take something with a lithium ion battery overseas. I eventually gave up and got it back out intending to use it as something to watch netflix/kodi but it's ****ing awful. Netflix won't work at all. Keeps thinking I'm using a proxy when I'm not, or throwing up random error codes. Kodi just hangs.
So what do you use yours for? Is there another OS I could try? Another version of remix that works better than the current cobbled together OS? Don't wanna sell because the faults (the back bracket has warped too) mean I won't get anywhere near what I paid for it back.

I am running 2.0.305. There is a full version of this on the forum that you can flash if JIde's OTA is not running. I must admit that both Netflix and Kodi work on my tablet. I never thought we would get an advanced operating system for this tablet, but thought we might get patch support. Not so. Development support is, obviously, not evident. I have a 5 year old Moto G that has multiple Nougat ROMs available. That's what a healthy community provides. Jide is just dying a slow death, mostly brought on by their own lack of concern for the customer base. You can get started with a kick starter campaign, but when you have to do thait multiple times, it shows how close to folding Jide must be. Further if you you pruchased an UltraTablet via the kick starter or not, would you actually spend more money after seeing the absolute lack of respect or support JIde has? I would not consider another Jide product until I see security updates and a promise of support form Jide. There are just too many reputable companies that would be happy to do business and provid support.
The built in obsolescence of android 5 has started with my VPN. I use NordVPN and the last few versions are only compatible with android 6 and up.
I am unsure as to how long my old version will last so will have to start thinking about a new box or a different VPN and I have 18 months left with Nord, it's a pity but my 2 Firetv's have served me well.
Why don't you drop those guys a note and explain the old version issue? Often, there is no real reason to bump up versions, other than lazy developers.
I like these Gen2 Fire sticks, they run great, and are rooted. I anticipate many more years of productive life, but perhaps with a shrinking app pool.
Thanks for the reply.
I have contacted them in the past and found them very helpfull. In that instance it was a version of Nord compatible with an old linux based DM8000HD satellite receiver, they did give me the last working version but, be it the receiver of NordVPN, it is not very reliable as it keeps losing all my vpn id's for no reason. I therefore expect the same to happen with the firetv box.
