No mobile data on install of LS 5.1.1 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Deciding to post this here since I'm not getting any response on the official ROM thread. I updated to from 5.0 official on the DOH1 bootloader. I have no data, and yes I have double checked the APN settings. Does anyone know what would cause this? Would installing another modem help?
Thanks!

[Q] No GPS lock possible on Lollipop

Hey everybody,
I've been having an issue lately. Since I upgraded to Android Lollipop, I have not been able to get a GPS lock anymore. This issue only applies when I'm on a Lollipop ROM. As soon as I flash back to a kitkat TW ROM, everything works again. When I go back to a Lollipop ROM, the issue returns again.. No GPS lock. This is not ROM specific, but just related to Lollipop in my experience.
I have not seen anyone else yet with this issue, so I find this very strange. I'm currently on the latest version of GPE5 by @Danvdh if this helps. But like I mentioned before, the issue exists on every Lollipop ROM.
If someone could please help me, this would be very much appreciated! Thanks!
Anyone? ?
Me Gusta!
It seems to be a Lollipop thing.
I have the same issue with my Find 7 since installing Lollipop.

[Q] Cannot update to lollipop using FOA

First things first, I am not very techy and am only trying to accomplish one goal on my galaxy s5 - update to lollipop.
I'm trying to do it by going to Settings --> About device --> Software Update. Everytime I try it check's for updates and says 'The Latest Updates have already been installed'.
My device is unrooted and running Android 4.4.2 and is unlocked. My brother bought the exact same phone and got the update over FOA more than a month ago!
I can't find anywhere on the internet to help me out, I don't want to update manually.. I wan't to know why my device won't update automatically.
Any thoughts on what I can try? Does it need a factory reset? Has anyone else got this issue? Help much appreciated.
sorry my friend the only way is to manually update it using odin on computer.
but, you can try to connect your mobile with kies and see your csc country then look in sammobile website if your country csc got lollipop, if so try to factory reset and then check for an update , but first make backup of your data.

But why won't it update via FOA? Is this a common thing where Samsung picks and chooses who gets it (seems kinda wrong), or is it possible I've got a fake phone? I've got a lot of stuff on the phone and don't really wanna go through the whole backup system restore process. I type on google my problem and it just comes up with stupid articles like 'How's lollipop treating you'.. it's like nobody has my problem but me?
Did some more digging around and found the following info for my phone:
AP: G900FXXU1ANJ1
CP: G900FXXU1ANJ1
CSC: G900FOXX1ANJ1
Searching the CSC on Sammobile tells me that the latest version for my phone is still 4.4.2 (not even 4.4.4?? It's like Samsung forgot about it).
Oddly, it says the country is Portugal (TPH) for this CSC, even though I bought a UK phone. This prompted me to check the IMEI on IMEI.info which confirms that the phone is legit..
I downloaded keys at it tells me the firmware version is:
PDA:NJ1 / CSC:NJ1 / PHONE:NJ1(TPH)
It says the latest firmware is already installed.
I'm wondering if my phone will ever get updated to lollipop (the fact that its still on 4.4.2 tells me maybe never). So I want to try and do this manually. Is there a way to change the country code? Will this void my warranty? Or can I manually force lollipop onto the phone via Kies? Do I need to root?
Some clear instruction for me to follow would be much appreciated. Thanks guys

yes it is... but i want lollipop .. will it void it? If yes thats ok Ill go ahead anyway
Rather than focusing on the goal of upgrading to lollipop, do some research about whether you actually want/need to.......
Quite a few members have posted here about problems and instabilities with lollipop.
Also, if you intend to root your device and tweak/modify it, the general advice is to stay at 4.4.2, as 5.0.0 tends to 'reduce the possibilities'......

I have no idea if it will void the warranty. When I flashed my device to 5.0 with the Polish release my CSC changed to XEO from H3G and my knox is still 0x0. What is your carrier? Head over to sammobile.com and download the rom corresponding to your carrier, and flash it as normal.

^^ I am currently flashing back to 4.4.2 so my stability and battery life isn't wrecked. I would also recommend staying on KitKat.
5.0.0 seems to be (by all accounts) a bit of a 'rush job'......
5.0.1 and/or 5.0.2 will be more polished and stable.....
Also Samsung have (from what I've read) included a new 'secure' bootloader with 5.0 and beyond, which apparently is causing 'issues'.........

The latest firmware for Portugal TPH is 4.4.2, Lollipop for that region has not been released yet.
If your brother has 5.0 on his phone with UK firmware than he most likely has BTU firmware
You can update yours to BTU which as actually a UK & Europe generic multi CSC firmware from Sammobile here. LINK
You will need to download it you will need Odin to do it, but after installing you will need to do a factory reset otherwise you CSC will not change and the phone will be unstable
Lollipop 5.0 for me is extremely stable and battery life far better than any other version I have had, screen clip below shows 2 days 20 hours since last charge and phone at 62% this is with light usage though

Hi ag4751.. this sounds good.. I will get odin and try this. Do you mind being more specific about the factory reset? Is this something I do within settings or do I need to do that volume up power off button thing and access the function from there? Also (probably silly question) but does factory resetting completely wipe all my data and apps? thanks

Yes, factory reset will basically wipe you apps, data everything so backup everything, pictures, music etc, anything that is on your internal storage your External SD Card wont be touched everything else will, It resets the phone to the out of the box condition so if for example you are on level 300 in candy crush unless its synced up to facebook you will be back at level 1.
You do the Factory reset through Settings > User and Backup > Backup and Reset.
You will need to enable Developer Options in About Device if not already done as you need to enable USB Debugging.
Factory resetting is a last resort normally but it does tend to clear a lot of problems if the phone is not working properly but do it after you have flashed the new rom.
This is a good guide to using Odin, its on the S3 forum but the procedure is exactly the same with the S5, If you download the BTU rom it will contain a single .tar file you need to extract that from the zip file.
Reply here is you have any other questions regarding flashing with Odin it is simple but if you are not used to it, it can be worrying.
Cool. I'm downloading the firmware now. I've got USB debugging enabled. A question about the factory reset though. Is there a reason why we do this within Settings and not by pressing the power-->volume down--> home button and accessing those options? Under that menu there is also a 'wipe cache' option. Basically I was planning to flash the firmware using odin, then immediately factory reset and wipe cache before actually loading up lollipop. Does that sound ok?

You can do it that way, the only reason Factory Reset is in setting is to save you having to boot into recovery to do it, its exactly the same, there are additional wipe options in recovery such as cache and the factory reset, a factory reset will wipe the cache as well when its run you don't need to do it separately.
If you want to wipe the cache and factory reset from recovery it wont hurt anything.

[Q] How to update to 5.0.1

Hi,
Im from the netherlands and noticed that the update for 5.0.1 is available.
I have the Exynos (N910C) version android 4.4.4 rooted installed now.
I have changed dpi settings true xposed.
What is the best way to update to the new version 5.0.1 ?
Thanks,
Roy
I have used the auto root to root the stock rom.
N910C is Exynos, not Snapdragon, so choose your ROM carefully.
Best way to upgrade is to backup everything first, then install new ROM with Odin (download correct version from sammobile), then root using your method of choice (I personally recommend flashing TWRP recovery and choose root on exit).
After that, you can restore everything you need from the backups.

Your device was rooted and no way to upgrade 5.0.1 via OTA. The only way now is download latest Firmware (for your Area) on Sammobile.com or similar website then using Odin to upgrade. Remember: full wipe on recovery first then flashing FW via Odin on Downloadmod.
Thanks for the awnsers. i meant the Exynos, sorry for that.
I havent tryed to update it true normal update way becouse i thought this wasnt possible as my device is rooted.
So i might try if i can do this?
Roy
OTA will fail because you tripped Knox when you rooted.
Besides, lollipop brings a new bootloader, modem and csc, so even if you choose to flash a custom lollipop ROM, you still need to upgrade those using Odin.

thanks,
I have installed the 5.0.1 version true odin without doing a full wipe. I still have all my apps and files and it seems to work oke.
Did i have to do a full because of the battery draining stuff? or is it oke like this?
Roy
Should be fine as it is, but a full wipe once in a while never hurts...
If you notice something wrong, battery drain, lag or even applications force-close, then why not... perform a full wipe and restore your apps and settings gradually.
Make sure you backup everything, i failed my stock update to android 5..0.1 (OTA), and now i still didnt found anyway to get my data back, it remains dead there
Titanium Backup FTW

910C - Revert from 5.1.1 to 4.4.4

Hello All,
I have an Exynos 910C currently on 5.1.1 -- pure stock.
After almost 2 weeks, resetting the cache, doing a factory reset and resetting the cache, my battery life is quite bad with almost no apps on it. WiFi seems to be draining faster than Mobile Data.
I've decided to revert back to 4.4.4, if possible. I would just like some questions.
I plan to downgrade first to the latest 5.0.1 version (BOE1), then to the latest 4.4.4 version (ANK5) and keep it there.
Is this possible? I am currently downloading the files from sammobile.
What buttons should I check on ODIN? Should I need to do anything with the bootloader?
Sorry, my first time doing this...
Thank you very much!
Hello,
Have successfully downgraded to 5.0.1
However, even if I disable software updates, the phone checks and downloads 5.1.1 upon first connection to wifi.
Any way to disable without rooting or other modification?
Thank you.

Root lost after upgrading to G900W8VLS1DPF3 !

I recently upgraded my S5 firmware to G900W8VLS1DPF3 and a few hours later security update prompt popped up. I went ahead and installed it. Later I realised that root was lost, not sure if it was the security update or the firmware upgrade. Tried PD3 version of CF-Root, it ran successfully but still no root access available. I have tried to look around on the Internet to see anyone has been able to root this firmware, couldn't see anything relevant.
So, is it possible to root this PF3 version, has anyone been successful? Any other methods I could try?
Thanks
No one has a clue?
Hi!
It seems your phone is
Canada (Telus)(TLS)
SM-G900W8
GALAXY S5
6.0.1
flash SuperSU through custom recovery (TWRP for example)

extract the modem firmware and flash it, which you
probably are aware.
