So i am able to listen to music via headphones, and the aux cord i have qorks with this tablet, but for some reason every other aux cord ive tried to use wont work with my tablet, but that same cord will work for them when they plug their phone into it. Its not the case cuz i tired it with the case off. Any sugestions?
I have it under warrenty so i can just replace it if need be bu tthat would be a pain so i knly want to do that as a last resort.
I have a similar problem, seems that there's some kind of earphone detection. My grandfather has two hearing loops, neither work and earphones work fine. Both loops work in my nexus 5.
Either something is wrong with the socket design or something funky is going on.
It never use to be the case before new updates were released. I think the tablet came with kitkat installed and it wasn't until they released the lollipop update when the loops stopped working.

Ok so maybe I spoke too soon. Yesterday I was telling my brother that the Note is the most reliable phone I've ever owned.....then....
I started having issues with charging. My Note would not charge, then it would change after several resets. It would charge, then stop, then start again etc etc....making a lot of beeping noises.
Now, it seems to be charging, but Voice talk keeps loading, and I've turned off the home key activation option. I also get the notification icon saying to disable car mode.
I really hope someone can help, thanks in advance.
kris
Great, now it's not charging, again!
Actually when I get the notification issue from Voice talk, the battery starts charging for a second until the notification disappears and stops charging....
Now factory reset my phone again and charging worked while restarting and restoring but when loaded the voice talk app keeps coming up and going off, so I have a black flashing screen constantly....gonna try restarting/reset without restoring...
Hi leicashot, this shouldn't happen. Which firmware version are you currently running? I recommend installing the latest LB1 stock, unless you have AT&T Note.
Some users have reported similar symptoms when there was dust in the mini usb port. Try cleaning the device, and if all else fails, you should send it back to Samsung for repair.

I'm using the latest 2.6.35.7. Any idea how to try clean the port? Definitely seems like something is wrong with the port....
No charging issues for me but my Note started doing the driving mode thing at about 3am today and has been doing it on and off all day!
Exceedingly annoying!
are you trying to charge from a PC or a wall outlet?
I usually charge via mains but it wasn't charging or even plugged in at the time this started happening. It was just sitting on the table by my bed. I even powered it off but it switched itself back on!
Here is how to fix it.
Take out the battery and take a plastic edge like credit card or even a regular tiny small screwdriver and push the pins (strip) inside the phone. I mean, to take the screw driver and push in the pins back inside the phone, in inside the usb charging port. your problem will disappear. make sure your plastic flexible after-market phone cover has a big enough hole at the bottom to allow you to connect a usb cable easily to the phone, or else, cut open a bigger hole on the cover.
Good luck
so here it is again: you have to push in the usb port pins back inside the phone, straight in without bending them. you can also buy a usb charging port from ebay for 22 bucks and change it yourself in 10 minutes. its a hardware problem so stop resetting your phone.
Nop bro i dont think so, cuz it happened same with me sometime after i bought galaxy note same thing happened with me too. I mean exactly same. So before i didnt knew rooting and flashin roms and all so i gave to service centre and they put newer version of ron in it and my problem was fixed after that.

Indeed. I remain convinced this is not hardware and is software related. The main reason for my thoughts there are that as well as the driving mode thing it seems that some piece of software is trying to load up as it asks me if I want to run whatever it is in either Clock or TuneIn Radio. Bizarre. Also, the first time it happened it was bang on 3am. Everytime I turned the phone off it would come back on exactly two minutes later.
The second night it started doing it bang on 1am.
I'm waiting to see what time it starts tonight.
It doesn't (so far) do it at all during the day.
Going to give it a couple of days to see what happens then go figure out how to go back to a factory ROM rather than the the Rocket 22 I have on here now.

Same thing is happening to me. I tried pushing the USB pins in slightly. I'll let you guys know if it helped or not.

I've been having the same problem for a few days now.
I've just pushed the pins in with the corner of my charging cables connector and the problem stopped.
There was also a notification that flashed up saying something like: USB connector or device removed.
Voice talk is still managing to launch itself, even after pushing the pins in. I'm on stock LB2 so maybe I've finally found a reason to flash a GB rom?
Happened to me yesterday. Got a toothbrush and cleaned usb port on phone. Now seems ok

this method solve my problem.
Device rooted - stock ROM - stock kernel
I was harmlessly playing a game (Nexus 7 connected to PC using USB cable at this point), when the screen started flickering black and white making popping noises then a loud pop and it went off. Device won't come on at all now, tried holding down all the buttons (individually and altogether) for over a minute each and I unplugged the battery and put it back, still nothing. When the device is plugged in, just makes a buzzing noise and there's no sign of life what so ever.
Should I just send it back?
ouch .. what was the name of the game.. Im surely not going to play it...
on a serious note Call google and get a new tablet.. Sorry but this is not heard of alot . Good Luck
The game was granny smith, but I'm confident it wasn't the games fault, I'm running it on this device also.
More information which might be relevant... I'm using a magnetic case for the automatic wake feature.
I'll ring Google in the morning.

Sounds like your device is a victim of a hardware defect simply by the pop and noise problem you mentioned, no app should ever cause this (unless you're rooted and overclock the processor or something). Contact Google, I've heard they're pretty good at exchanges and stuff.
Some computer usb ports could cause hardware problems for mobile devices. Ive fried my ipod while synchronizing it but ive used the same port for month before it happened. So its not always a good idea to charge your phone or tablet using a pc port especially if its a custome built rig. Some people overclock their system using a really cheap motherboards that never meant for ocing. That can cause all sort of problem.. But even a premium motherboards are not perfect consider the fact that my ipod was fried by evga 680i sli which back in '06 was probably the best mobo out there.. I got it to run dual 8800gtxs $649 each! Gosh what damnass nerd i was..
Hi guys. I ran in to an issue I've never experience before, for some reason my Nexus 4 is no longer recognized when plugging in a USB cord. It was working fine like 2 weeks ago and I made no changes since then. Everything is pure stock with unlocked bootloader, no root and I'm on Lollipop which was updated via OTA with no issues plus I did a factory reset right after just to make sure. I tried everything that has been mentioned in other threads, made sure MTP was checked, USB debugging off or on, updated drivers on my computer, changed USB cords, rebooted phone, booted in safe mode and here's the thing, it isn't even recognized by my car stereo when it was working fine 2 weeks ago. I already made sure it wasn't the stereo because I plugged in a USB driver and it read it right away. I started to think that maybe the USB port on my phone went bad, but it's charging fine so I'm like clueless to what could be wrong right now. I only have 1 last thing that I could do and that's to do a factory reset, but I'm trying to avoid that so if anyone could help me in anyway I would greatly appreciate it.
Turns out that it is in fact the USB port, I noticed it was pushed back past where it's supposed to be because of an indent or line of where it used to be in the inner opening so I started to wiggle it around with the Xbox One controller USB charger that I have which is newer and grips more when plugging it in and I got a reading finally but it didn't last ?, I think this cable is what pushed it back farther and now I can't get it any closer without causing damage SMH, just when I was starting to like my Nexus 4 all over again. Oh well on to the Nexus 5 then faster than I expected.

Earphone Shutting Galaxy GP off Problem
My entire family just got the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime this weekend. The phone is great in all but it seems to not work with ear phones. When my dad plugged his earphones in his, it shut the phone off and turned it back on. I tried his ear phones on my phone and it did the same thing as soon as I plugged it in. My young brother left for college already, but he tested it with his ear phones and says it freezes his screen for a bit and then doesn't work. Has anyone had problems with using earphones on the Grand Prime? Any solutions?
I'm going to test more earphones and see what happens but I think I may have to go and take all these phones back. Really hope I don't have to since I'm not sure how I'll get my brother's back.
Are you using the stock headset included? If you're using a casing for your phone try removing it. I have this problem with ATH-M50 headset it freezes and reboots if i have a casing on. Some other headphone or earphone i tried will just freeze the phone no matter if i have the casing or not. Just try other headset it is certainly a headset problem not getting enough contact causing it to ground the phone.

Ya your right. it's a contact problem. After taking the risk and shoving the audio jack harder, it went in one more level. At that point, the earphones started working again and the phone didn't reboot.
I thought that might be the problem when I first saw a hint of silver still showing from the audio jack, but ignored it because the whole cellphone rebooting was something i've never seen happen to a phone from plugging in an earphone. I didn't want to have to push the headphones in really tight but it turns out that they needed to be pushed in one more level. None of us have cases for our Prime's yet but ya, I realize from what you pointed at that we weren't pushing the audio jack completely in. My gosh, you have to push hard.

Wow thats an interesting solution, I have not had this problem though its really good to know.
We can't all be buying headphones that cause the same problem. It has to be the phone. Sometimes mine gets stuck in a restart loop until I unplug the ear buds.
Same thing is happening to me a few minutes ago. Never had a problem with my earphones plugged in until now. I don't know why it's something that happens to Galaxy Tabs or phones, but apparently it is. It always freezes and then turns off when I put in my earphones. My Galaxy Tab A only turns on when I take out my earphones. This has never happened before, because I've had the same earphones plugged into my tablet for months now. It's definitely a device problem.
My Samsung Galaxy J5 just freezes when I plug in the stock earphones in. It has almost been a month since I been using the same pair of earphones for the same phone but this issue has only popped up recently.Any idea as to why this happens and how to fix this?
I have a Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 & everytime I plug in my earphones my phone freezes then shuts off. My ear phones are new &when I first used them my phone wasn't shutting off. Now all of a sudden it messes up. It started happening recently & I have no idea what to do. Please help.

11.0.2.2 in2025 just realized diversity won't stick in the dev options no idea why... Last gripe with this phone is the poor Bluetooth.... Can anyone help me enable this somehow?
About to factory reset and try getting it on before root and what not to see if it works
Well slight update...
Idk what happened but the connection has severely increased... Setting is still not sticking but I stopped touching it. I restarted a few times and everything... Nothing changed until I connected my fresh headphone like it caught then??... Idk, all I know is I can now sit on my phone without losing connection to my headphone anymore
Was scared to but shut Bluetooth off and headphone off and restarted both to test again and all is well
Glad you got it sorted! Cheers
Well tonight I have it figured out. One headphone gets good reception the other one is **** lol time or order a new pair
Just got home and tested 4 sets of headsets, all 8 are working strong but that one earbud....
But it happened for a reason tho, for some stupid reason they stopped making these Bluetooth headphones(the smallest ones I ever found) savfy yes mini true wireless headphones with a 2100mah bank to charge your phone if needed has saved me many times only orange left on ebay so buying a few more sets before they are gone for good
