I dropped my N5 a bit too many times, and the last drop this morning was the last straw I guess. The screen no longer works. I need to revert back to my N4.
I'm going on a 3 week trip in a few days, and need a responsive, stable ROM with a long battery life. Tweaks and features are not important to me. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I go M or stick to L, or even K?
Blisspop, Lollipop Rom, it's very good
Can't go wrong with stock kitkat man. Clean flash through fastboot.

I'm seriously considering flashing carbon. I love all the customization involved. However, I really want a stable ROM. Is carbon stable enough for everyday use?

Best bet is to just read the thread. Yeah it sucks having to read a ton but by the time your done you will know if said ROM is stable enough for you

Been running carbon for a few days now (with franco kernel) and I've been impressed. Battery life seems to be great especially when sleeping (very little battery drain) but that could be the kernel.
The customizations are great and offers just about everything I could ask for. I would recommend you take it for a spin for a couple days.
Its been a few hours; why haven't we heard from you? You asked a question, we responded, we, or at least me, expect a response.
This is important to the ROM developer if they're paying attention but more important to the end user.
Feed back please!!!!!
I tried Carbon also, but randomly the phone turned off and stopped working. When i tried turning it back on, it would get stuck on the Google logo, then it would move to a black screen. This happened spontaneously. After a few failed attempts i got into recovery and flashed a previous ROM, which fixed the boot problem. Therefore i wouldn't really recommend Carbon, but it did have all the features i was looking for, and quick boot up time also. Give liquid smooth a try, its been running great with the kernel it comes with. I've been getting over 4 hours screen on time, and usually its 100% brightness.
Alright appreciate the feedback. I'm trying xylon ROM currently and kinda hesitate on carbon now. Especially since reading the threads I've noticed people have little hiccups with the ROM. And dude sorry I'm not on xda every day.

About two months ago I upgraded my Maguro Galaxy Nexus from 4.2-BETA1 to 4.6-BETA6,
and since then my phone has a lot of bugs,
it take a lot of time to switch between screens,
sometimes it just lock itself for no reason,
and I get a lot of 'System.UI has stopped', and recently my phone just turned off while charging (I had to take the day off :crying, and to turn it on I had to pull the battery out.
do you have any idea why it happens?
what is the last known stable version?
can I downgrade without wipe my device? I don't wan't to install all the apps again.
thank you.
That's a big jump. You should clean flash.

Hello, dear XDA-Community
a girlfriend of me has CM 12.1 Stable installed, but it crashes pretty often as she told me.
I'm looking for a stable ROM for her that she can use.
I personally have a S4 and can't test the S5 ROMs for her, so could anyone give me a good advise which ROM she could use?
I've been looking around ofc but couldn't decide which one could be the best for her.
Thanks in advance!
Stock
I offered her to install the stock ROM again, but she doesn't like stock.
She wants to explore more and likes to change stuff. So I'm looking for a stable ROM for her. It'd also be okay if she has to update only once a month. I teached her how to flash and so on.
Anyways, thanks
I'd say the CM13 nightlies work pretty good.... they're nightlies but stable enough. Never crashed even once, and I've been using them for a very long time. You don't need to update every night of course, you could do that once a month if you like, or every two weeks.
Just make sure to install xposed and greenify and enable the aggressive doze mode. She'll love the standby time. Overnight (8+ hours) less than 0,5% battery drain.
Also use the Boeffla kernel for CM13.
If nightlies isn't what you're looking for I guess best thing would be stock, or something stock based.
I was previously on CloudyG3. Then to get a taste of Marshmallow, I installed Fulmics rom back then. The rom was buggy for me with terrible battery life. I then switched to Stock Marshmallow and used it as my daily driver for some time. The screen on time was decent at 3h. Seeking for something that was a little tweaked, I opted for the N&N rom. It turned out to be the best MM rom that i used. It was super smooth with no evident issues. The screen on time was 3 hours for this rom as well. There was one defect with the rom though (Fulmics had this as well), the charging times were very erratic. Sometimes it would charge in 2 hours while sometimes leaving it for 8 hours plus would have charged it to just 80% from 20%. The unreliable battery charge times resulted in me having to limit essential working on my phone. The other thing that bothered me about MM roms (don't know if any body else had it) was that the phone would continue to lose charge if I used the phone while it was charging. I tried Fulmics 6.1 after that (clean install) but it was unbearably laggy, from the lockscreen to switching apps. It was unusable for me. So, I couldnt take it anymore and decided to go back to CloudyG3 2.5 with Xceed Kernel. Turns out it was a wonderful decision. My charging times are back to normal, my phone doesnt lose charge while working and charging at the same time and best of all my screen on time has gone way up to 4 hours. It is as smooth as any marshamllow rom and practically bugless. It doesnt heat up as the other roms. There were a couple of old apps that i used that were not compatible with MM and they are working flawlessly on Cloudy G3. So it is back to Lollipop CloudyG3 for me. If anyone of you all are having issues with Marshmallow roms, hop back to CloudyG3.
Tottaly agree!!! The same about me! I was on CloudyG3 2.5. I tried lot of MM Roms (Fulmics 6.1 , N&N and Zoe 2.7) but almost all of them had terrible battery life, tha is the most important for me! Finally i flashed again Cloudy G3 2.5. I think a made the best move. Battery life turn to normal again. No bugs. I was thinging on going to Stock MM, but maybe not!!
you should try limitless rom with Xceed kernel right now my battery at 51% and screen usage is 2h 35m from these numbers you should get 4:30 to 5 hours of screen usage. i've been using it for 5 month and i'm very happy with it and most importantly i get like 65000+ on antutu
Hello, I am experiencing some issues with my battery. I replaced the battery with a genuine one directly from Samsung. It is quite better than the old one but still can't get over 4-5 hours of SOT. And my phone does not last to the end of the day, often have to plug it in at work or school. I have the newest one ui 4.1 version. Should I downgrade do an older version or install a custom rom? Maybe also recommend a Rom for s10+ that has great battery life? Or is this just a software bug/glitch? Any help appreciated
Either optimize what you got or go back to what worked (easiest). A custom rom opens a whole new can of worms... really it's your call. Bigger, radical changes will require more of your time to try and get it running right.
Upgrades/updates can and do break things.
This stock N10+ is still running on Pie. It's current load is over 2 year old. Still fast, and stable with minimal maintenance.
