I ordered the Nexus 6P for the price and the premium build and the better specs. I have never used a phablet before. I am really anxious of how big this phone will be in actual day to day use. The hands-on videos and the Google event doesn't really show me how big the phone actually is.
Anyone else in the same boat and pulled the trigger on the 6P because of better specs?

It's pretty much identical in height and size to an iPhone 6 plus.... Go to a store and check that out to get a feel for the size
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Having gone from a note 4 to iPhone 6+ (almost identical dimensions to 6p) I can tell you that it's not a big deal. Unless you've been using phones like the z3 compact then it'll be no big deal.
If you want to get a feel for the size, weight, and thickness go pickup an iphone 6+... I'm not joking, it's insane how close they are.
iphone: 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1mm (6.22 x 3.06 x 0.28in) and 172g (6.07oz)
nexus 6p: 159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm (6.27 x 3.06 x 0.29 inches) and 178g (6.28oz)

I am planning on it. I made a little mockup in paint for the dimensions. Drew out a rectangle and tried to feel it in the hand and it feels huge. I guess it will be more compact because of the design and the curves on the side and the back but still a little anxious.

My wife is 5'1" and has a Nexus 6; she has really tiny hands and thinks the phone is small. Her and I are both a little disappointed that they dropped to a 5.7" screen but its still better than a tiny 5.5" one.
The first phablet I bought was a note 2. The first few days my hand cramped up using it. I thought I made a mistake. Now I can't go back I've had the note 2 3 4 and now 6p.

Seems from what I am hearing from everyone, your mind will just get used to it. The wait till November 4th is also making me anxious! This is the worst feeling ever! I am going to check out an iPhone 6+ just to see how it feels in the hand. Never owned a Phablet before but I really don't want to get the Nexus 5X since the 6P is more premium and better specs wise for only $70 more.
Google should not have gimped the 5X.

I have a Nvdia shield but its source too big to easily use one handed. I used to use my Nexus 7 (2013) one handed all of the time while walking around campus. I can settle for the 5.7" display becuase they have a huge battery in the phone
My first phablet was the Note 2. When i first got it the damn thing felt huge. I kept saying "damn this is so big I'm not sure I can carry it around all the time".
I used it for about a day and after that I couldn't go back to a smaller device. Now anything under 5.5 inches screen size isn't on the table for me.
If you use your phone a lot the larger screen size is amazing from a usability standpoint.
It's not the size of your pencil that counts, it's how you sign your name.

Coming from a tiny little iPhone 4, being 3.5 inches, 4.7 is already overwhelming. I also don't think I have that kind of room in my pockets since i wear Skinny Jeans. The biggest worry I've had so far with getting the One will be fitting it in my pants. xD Definitely not disappointed, and really its only .3 inches more. Not that big deal. It's still a gorgeous display. When i saw ZTE is releasing a 5.7 inch phone earlier i was wondering far people are gonna go until people are saying phones are too big. Only 1.3 inches away from the size of the Nexus 7. o.o

I agree I think it should be the full 5" but not at the expense of a bigger form factor, like more screen size w/ less bezel.
Well it may not be 5" but with the pixel density it'll be the most amazing screen. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm mad at my phone for not being the one! hmph!

I wish it was 5 inches as well... I can only hope the 4.7 inch design means its more ergonomic.
for me is best this way, better pixel, and size is great!
I think it was probably a good call, as much as I like 5 inches, I think this is the phone that iPhone users can be confident in, especially after I've owned the DNA and converted a few that I wouldn't have recommended to previous models because of their usage and what they want in a phone.
The 4.7 is a nice median size for those upgrading from smaller form factors and those used to large form factor.

I was disappointed that it was not 5". But Sense 5 looks great, the camera software looks great, the screen looks great, the design looks great, the speakers look (and sound from what I've heard on videos) great. As it stands, there is so much great about this phone, it is making me easily forgive and forget about the 0.3" missing from this phone. I expect and hope, the next One flagship will be a 5" screen..

I worry A LOT about its size because according to the most recent rumors it will have a 5.7" display while even the previously rumored 5.99" one disappointed me...
I think these rumors will turn out to be accurate seeing how Samsung recently made the S4's display slightly bigger than the SIII's while actually making the device itself "SMALLER".
I really hope they will offer at least 2 display sizes: a 6.3" one like the Mega (which I can't buy because of its too low specs ) and a smaller one which I really don't care what it will be...

A mobile phone should be the largest size possible which fits where I have *always* kept/carried my mobile phones/smartphones. 7" tablets are too big but not by much (a couple of years ago I tried the original Galaxy Tab 7" as soon as it came out but returned it), a Mega 6.3" would be more or less the perfect size for me. Eventually we will get there, I know it.
I have *always* wanted something like the Mega 6.3", even when people gawked at the first 4" smartphones or, later on, were saying that 4.3"/4.5" were "just too much"...
I think the market will coalesce around a couple of "standard" sizes: 5" and 6.5" (of course with small bezels, light, thin etc)

I am not interested in one handed operation in the slightest. I have always found "irritating" trying to operate touch screen mobile devices one handed, even when smartphones had less than 4" displays.
Large displays may be "overkill" if you look at it (and use it) as a "mobile phone", I see it (and use it) as a "pocket computer" because, well, it is.

Sent From An Incognegro Galaxy Note 2
7 inch tablet and 6.5 inch phone may have almost the same screen size but ease of handling and using it is not comparable because in most cases phones have very small bezel while tablets have wide one. As stated before if Note 3 has 6 inch screen and is still not much bigger than Note 2 then there is no problem with handling, it would be even easier than Note 2 to use. All that aside, personally I have used 2 hands approach since I got Note 2, the only gripe I have with it is I can't answer phone with one finger without serious stretching... I think it would not be hard to code answering (or not) mechanism that looks like Pie control in shape but from right or left down corner, or even better when phone is ringing and you touch the screen, then from that point sliding left answers the phone, right denies the call (with sliding directions to be configured as you like).
Forgot to mention I have big hands, so this is why it wouldn't be a problem, unlike someone with average sized hands,

I think it would be noticeable if you were moving, say, from 3.5" to 3.7". From 5.5" to 5.7" I'm not so sure it makes much difference. With the Mega 6.3", Samsung proved that the Note 2 bezel can fit a bigger screen without increasing it's size. I believe 5.7" is doable with the current bezel size and 6" with a minor increase in size. Maybe just a couple of millimeters more in width and height.

I had the S3 and the S4, you definitely can notice the difference between the 2 phones in use. It won't be a HUGE difference from 5.5 to 5.7 but it'll be noticeable. Same with the Galaxy S2, I had the I9100 that had a 4.3 inch display and also had the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 which had a 4.5 inch display. You could definitely tell the difference.
I think 5.7 inches would be perfect in order to keep a decent amount of ppi with a 1080P panel. 6+ inches would be too big, in my opinion

After almost a year of using my ONE, I don't think I'll be able to go back to phones smaller than a 5.5 inch screen. At first when I got my phone, I found it to be too big for my smallish hands but I got used to it quickly. Now if I were to upgrade to another phone, I think I would consider the size of Samsung Note or even Google Nexus 6 being my ABSOLUTE limit.
How about you? Is 5.5 inches your limit? Are you looking to downsize or get a phone with a bigger screen?

Yea, I was helping someone with their Samsung Galaxy 4 phone and during that whole time I was wishing the screen was bigger .
Android is Always About New Opportunities and I'll always be interested with whatever is to come
I don't think I would want to go bigger than 5.5, it's nice having a big screen but a bit pointless to go to 6", especially for me as I have a 7" tablet. I think anywhere between 5-5.5 is the sweet spot, probably 5.2.
LOL, I know what you mean. Everytime I pickup my GF's S4, I can't believe how small it is. I don't remember it being that small when I was using it. That said, I don't think I'd want to go much bigger than 5.5". Maybe 6", but I'm not sure. That's one of the thinks I love about Android though, there is always someone willing to try something to see how it works in the market so we can push the boundaries and experiment.
Yeah, even My Nexus 4 feels so tiny. I picked up my Nokia E52 from the abyss of my bag and bam, it was microscopic Fascination how technology changes so fast.
Well, i look down at my friends iPhone 4's and ask if it's a toy.
I've got used to it very quickly. After a couple of weeks I've noticed how small my Xperia Z was. Bigger screens are just much better for reading
I love the screen size now. Had a S3 Mini before and it now feels tiny.
Finally i am able to read ebooks properly on my phone!
But i think that the screen size of the Nexus 6 would be my absolute maximum, not bigger than that.
The only thing that i would like to see is some progress in the stock launcher/Google launcher.
As Screens get bigger i think gesturres are even more important. For example Nova/Apex launcher, swipe down on screen and open Notifications.
Why isnt this implemented in stock launcher?
Big screens are addictive, I had an og droid and liked it, then got a galaxy nexus and thought it was the perfect sized screen, then got a droid maxx and thought 5' was actually perfect, now I have a one plus and of course 5.5 is perfect. I enjoy the screen size when using the phone, but I still find the phone too big for carrying around. I have my M7 here and, while it would benefit from a slightly bigger screen, it feels so much better in the hand and doesn't take up nearly as much space in the pocket.
I'm enjoying my OPO, but would probably prefer a 5" phone, with minimal bezels, for use on the go and have a 7-8" tablet at home/office.

I see a trend emerging. No freakishly large hands are required. Just about an hour of practice.

Or keep the 5.5 screen with smaller top and bottom bezels. That is one of my issues with the phone. It could have been great with those bezels smaller. I still love this phone though.

I got used but the next one will be smaller anyway.
I have a Nexus 5 (2013), before more of the specs came out, i was adament that within 3-4 months i would upgrade to the N52015.
Looking at the specs, i am kinda disappointed. Is the 6p going to be smaller than the current Nexus 6? or the same size?
The 6p looks like the phone to get, in terms of an upgrade to the current N5.

The 6p is more equal to the note 5 in size. It will be easier to hold than the nexus 6

nexus 5 owner here and planning to upgrade to the 6P once google finally decides to put up preorders here in germany....ugh hate the waiting game...
Do you think the bezel sizes are a little much on the new nexus'? I've been trying to read around but cannot find much talk on the subject of "bezels". My 6 is the same length but has .26" of a bigger screen. I have the 6p ordered but not sure what to think.
i think the bezels are appropriate for the size. the 6 is unwieldy wide and i'm anticipating the 6P to be super comfortable in the hand.
Yep, this badboy should feel super handling it!
Screen-to-Body Ratio
I'd like to bring this topic back up now that we have some prior 6 users with the 6p in hand.
It does feel nice in hand but the thought of a longer phone with .3 inch smaller screen.
What do you think?
6 - 74.03 %
6p - 71.60 %

has been beat to death already. thinner phone. different tech. bigger battery. metal vs. plastic.
Hi all!
I am used to phones that are around 5.2" sizes like the current z2 I'm using. Although z2 has 5.2 inch screen, the overall phone is slightly bigger than other similar ones due to bezels.
The only factor that is preventing me to switch is the size of nexus 6p. Need some input from people here who changed from a smaller phone to nexus 6p.
Thanks

When I switched from a smaller phone to a large phone it took me a few hours to get used to it, now I'd never go back. You won't know until you actually do it though.

I switched from an lgg4 and I'm loving the bigger screen.
I've had mine about 24 hours. Coming from a moto x 2014, it's definitely large. Still trying to get used to it.
You adjust quickly and probably never look back.
I came from the Note 4 5.7", but prior to that I had the Note 2 5.5" then Galaxy S2 4.3". The jump from the s2 to the note 2 was an easy transition. Takes a day or so to get use to it. You won't regret it!
used to have a razr hd (4.7") went to a note 3(5.7") and refused to go back, was so happy when the 6p was announced to be same size.
yeah I remember jumping from the HTC amaze with a 4.3 inch screen to my note 3 5.7 inch. you can no longer one hand your phone.. but the display is awesome. after awhile it doesn't even seem big just right.

My dad had a blackberry q10 with a 3.1" screen and when i recommended him to the 6p, with no prior experience to other android/iphone smartphones, he actually really likes the 5.7" jump that he'll be using for the next year or two. One notable quote from him is "i can see more stuff on the screen"

I came from a Galaxy S4. I absolutely love the 6P. I can still use this phone one handed, for the most part. Have a case on it has helped the phone stay in my hand.
Wow everyone who posted here gave positive feedback I guess I will have a go . Thanks everyoneee!
