[Q] Heating while using Maps/Waze - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all guys,
I am often using the phone (not yet OPT as I still don't own one) with Waze and I am wondering if this can cause it to go to high temperatures.
Do you have experience to share?
Zeno

do you have any issue geeting gps fix/lock while using mobile data in (WCDMA/LTE) ?
i am running oxygen os 2.1.0. i have this issue.

Hi,
as soon as I'll have the phone delivered I'll let you know. I am using quite often maps so I hope I will not have the problem you mention.
Regards,
Zeno

Nope, it doesn't heat up exaggeratedly. The temperature is around 45° just like OPO. I had been using it for 45min and that was the final temperature.
2nd is i using it under direct sunlight in my car for roughly 40min. The temperature is 50°. I would say its normal for me

Hi,
thank you very much for your feedback!
It seems so that the temperatures are ok then
I am looking forward to have my phone at home
Zeno

Just a reminder, screen brightness has somethings to do with the temperature :/ so i wont recommend the 2nd option paired with high brightness.

DHD on 100% CPU Usage

Just wondering after downloading OS Monitor and SeePU, it shows my phone running at 100% cpu all the time, the process taking it up is something called /init, can someone enlighten me?
Thanks

Also very curious! There seem to be a few people with this issue and not just on the HD. Could some Android wizard please take a look? There is not much to be found via google.
Funny, people said that hard resets and all dont do anything but i just restarted my phone normally and it just sits at 0%, i did unistall SeePU but dont think it had much affect on it, duno what was wrong with it
imo first thing if there is an issue like this is to get the RUU and reflash it.
if you are still experiencing this issue you might wanna have a look at this thread.i was on the same boat.very annoying.

Just set HTC Sense Sync from automaticaly (like 1/2/3/5 hrs) to Manually or push update ....
I wonder if you enabled USB Debug
on in Settings > Applications > Development
This will help the 100% CPU, which is a bug in HTC Rom
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
You need only a complete CALENDAR cache cleanered

Yes, please do this!
And if it solves the problem, please let it know so this thread can be closed.
GPS seems to send the cpu to 100% DHD
Had to enable to GSP to use the Car Panel app after that the CPU went to 100%.
Just disabling didn't work. I had to restart to get the CPU back down.
Best option: go to sync accounts and remove you htc sync account. I've heard thid helped many people
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I was having this exact problem, I had automatic sync off, turned it on and changed everything to every 3hrs or so and what do you know, CPU usage dropped to 5-15% at home screen from 100% constantly.
Maybe that's why my battery died so fast today
As someone said a few posts before: activate USB debugging. Your phone will vibrate, will be unresponsible, after 10 seconds it will vibrate again and then your CPU usaage will go down like the titanic
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
I was also facing 100% cpu usage.
First i disabled htc sync and others leaving only the necessary accounts. And my CPU usage was unde control to 3-5 %
Now after two days cpu usage was 99%. I enabled USb Debugging, and exactly as previous post said phone vibrate two times and cpu usage is stable to 3 %.

[Q] battery drain is horrible.

okay so recently i have noticed that my battery drain has gotten worse. i was not like this before tho. i have installed the GPS fix. could it be that that is messing with my phone?
anybody have anymore ideas on how to make my battery better.

Is this idle or screen on? With the screen on, a draw of 241mA is within normal limits. I've hit over 500mA before.
I would agree with the previous poster, that is normal when using an app. I have seen higher numbers if WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth are all on at the same time. I have a highly modified gps.conf file on my phone. It does not affect my standby or actual use battery drain. So I don't think that is the problem. Make sure to go to Settings and go with the manual sync and not auto sync. You can also go into your WiFi settings and go to Advanced to set the WiFi to sleep when you don't use the phone.
Why is it that so many people who ask for help dont even give any relevant info?
What ROM are you using?
Are you using SD/NAND?
What solutions have yu tried so far?
My suggestion is to make sure your have latest version of your rom, Install SetCPU and create a profile for when your phone is sleeping and set both min/max to min value. Also make sure you remember to turn off stuff you're not using like GPS/BT/WIFI etc. Also try other roms. The 0one is my dig has great battery life and is also runs really smooth.
what is the name of app that you use for calculate consumption. i try to find that program in the photo.
Maybe it's because of your rom

[Android 2.2+][11.11.2011][v1.3] CF.lumen (for Chainfire 3D)

THIS APP AND THREAD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY THIS ONE HERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711912
CF.lumen changes the colors of your Android device's display based on the position of the sun. With the default settings, your display will get a warmer tint (lower color temperature) when the sun is down, to look more like indoor lighting and less like the sun, which causes less strain on your eyes and doesn't keep you awake as much.
This is an addon for Chainfire3D, you need to have both Chainfire3D and Chainfire3D Pro installed to be able to use CF.lumen
With the default settings, blue tints will be reduced in brightness when the sun goes down. This reduces how much looking at the screen keeps your brain awake later at night. If you have sleeping problems, you should definitely be using this. Do yourself a favor and install similar software ("f.lux") on your PC as well - it fixed my sleeping cycle.
There is also a full-on sleep mode that runs on a pre-set schedule. By default it shows the entire screen in red, so as to not destroy your night vision when you look at it.
When you want the screen to look normal for a bit (for example for gaming or looking at pictures) simply tap the notification in the notification tray to disable CF.lumen until the next time you turn on the screen.
Additionally, it can also use the light sensor to automagically switch to sleep mode when it is fully dark. HOWEVER, you should be aware that most devices do not have a sensitive enough light sensor to detect the difference between house light and darkness, so this function may not work very well on your device.
Last but not least, a function is also provided to turn off the screen based on proximity sensor activity.

Chainfire: Which software do you recommend.
Thank you
F.Lux is one..
Yeah I use F.lux as well. App updated to v1.1, by the way
This seems to be draining 8% of my battery in battery stats. Is it supposed to do that?

I did have it enabled for about 3 hours before realising that. After that I turned it off. So this probably means it was the sensor services?

+1, show 1.0 as installed.
I can't get it to work, because when I click Location it just keeps trying Finding location... I left it there a couple times for 15 mins... nada. (GPS and Network location turned on).
Maybe a simple Latitude/Long field would help?
Thanks for another interesting app!
Ohh, and Chainfire3D Pro working with NVIDIA plugins here.
Chainfire, just wanted to thank you for your ingenious work, your out of the box thinking is the reason I run nearly all of your apps.. Never stop making me say "I didn't even think that was possible!"

Works pretty well, except for that when it's enabled, it seems to somehow turn off the fade screen transition in CM7 when you hit the home key. The screen still correctly shrinks, but once it shrinks it just waits for a split second, then disappears. Normally it shrinks and fades at the same time. This isn't a big deal really but I figured I'd post it here in case I'm not the only one.

Still thinking about how to best do that. In the newer Android versions (Gingerbread and up) you actually HAVE to have that icon to make sure Android doesn't constantly kill the background service.
Alternatives are for example to restart the service on a timer, I think I'll build that in at some point.
CF.lumen updated to v1.2
Changelog:
- "Sleep in the dark" now checks for proximity as well as light levels
- "Bright light" mode added, switches to Day mode in bright light even when in Sundown or Night mode
- "Notification Mode" settings added. Can remove notification. WARNING: Doing so may lead to CF.lumen being shut down by Android at random times.
Can you add the option for the bright light mode to switch to night sundown mode instead of day mode? I'm also seeing 7-8% CPU usage with the proximity sensor enabled. I like the idea of this feature for battery savings (example, putting the phone in my pocket and having the screen turn off immediately) so if there is any way to tweak the battery consumption it would be great! Would you be able to have the icon displayed change to reflect the mode it's in? For example a sun for daytime, moon for sunset mode, etc.?
One last thing, noticed that the Sleep filter setting does not get saved with version 1.1. It says Unknown even after you have selected a filter.
v1.3
Minor bugfix release v1.3:
- Minor crash fixes
- Current color filter display no longer says "Unknown"
- CPU usage reduced
- Power usage reduced

Bugs in 10.4.B.0.569 update

Even though we have finally received the 4.3 update from SONY,
it seems like shipped with some noticeable bugs.
It's better if we can mention the bugs we have encountered after the 4.3 update
1. ) SONY Select
As many people have reported this service is not working in either mobile broadband or wifi connections.
Only a error text is shown as "No network connection. Please try again later"
2.) NFC icon
It suddenly get disapeared while it's already activated by quick settings.
3.) Airplane mode
When the Airplane mode is turned on by power button menu, it cannot be turned off using the same menu since it's disabled.
I had to go to the settings menu and turn it off from there.
4.) Network mode switching
3G networking and LTE network mode switching does not happening correctly in automatically (sometimes).
work arround found :
Had to go to the network settings and disable the mobile data
turn on the airplane mode on and again turn it off
enable the mobile data again then it will correctly jump to LTE network type
5.) Battery bug
Battery suddenly dropped from about 40 % to 8% (without any downloaded applications.)
6.) Overheating
Phone is incredibly overheating while using the HSPA+ or LTE data connection.
with 4.2.2 i didn't had this much of overheating issue.
Please share your findings also :highfive:

1 - No, it is working fine since 2 days ago.
2 - No, this is a customization thing, if you flashed a firmware from a different region it may have been disabled. It is normal, you can re-enable it editing build.prop.
3 - No, it works fine on mine.
4 - No, i don't have this problem.
5 - It happened to me in the first two hours of installing the new firmware, but from 13% to 0% reducing itself in 1% increments every 2 seconds (and it turned itself off), it may be some kind of battery recalibration after installation, it hasn't happened again since then.
6 - I don't feel like it is overheating more than before.
I thing you should do a factory reset. I did it after 4.3 update and the only bugs i have found are:
1 - Progress bar overlaping text while installing applications
2 - Standalone wifi hotspot toggle widget not working (the one in the configurable toggles in notification area works fine)
3 - Bluetooth A2DP music streaming skips a lot in my BMW Car Infotainment system while not charging the phone. It could be some kind of energy saving feature on the bluetooth that it is screwing things up. It worked 10 times better when i was in Android 4.2.2
cheers.

Camera Bug
Tho only bug I noticed is in Camera Addon AR Effects. The Pictures a very dark and there´s no chance to activate LED Flash....
my phone's screen timeout resets back to 15 seconds every once in a while, and wakelock bugs also present
Sometimes SMS received without Notification
I have issues with access to OpenXChange Servers. No new mail can be received.
Just a wakelock bug for me, Suspend_backoff (Android OS) eating battery, it drains like ~5% hourly.

So you reinstalled 4.3 and it didnt fix the problem? Some users said they reinstalled 4.3 (which means complete data loss and having to set my phone from the beginning ) and the problem remains. I dont want to go through a clean istall for nothing.

GPSS accuracy when screen off and on battery

Lately I have this problem with my gps. When screen is off and the device is not plugged in, the accuracy is bad. it seems as though it switched back to "cell towers" only. When recording my position using any app (like Strava or Locus) the position is far out of range until I switch on the screen: I can see the pin being restored to the correct location and follows me correctly until I switch off the screen again.
I did a lot of research but I only can find suggestions like "switch on high accuracy" which I obviously have switched on.
Anyone notice this same behaviour?
Any solutions?
I'm on the latest stock ROM: OxygenOS 9.0.5 (non-root)
thanks!

Maybe you did not exclude your apps from battery optimization? I have no issues using orux maps (OB33).
Thank you for your response. I should've mentioned the battery settings I already activated:
battery optimisation for the apps are off.
apps are locked in the recent apps so that they're not being killed and removed from memory
Deep optimisation and Sleep Standby Optimisation are off
Is it possible that I missed an optimisation?
Btw, it seems to be app unrelated: when I lock the GPS in Locus (recording position) and activate Strava as well, both apps record the same inaccurate position.

The GPS on the OP5 is known to have glitches where it suddenly shoots off to another location. I've found this yusing my Canon Connect app to record the location of my pictures.
