why does it take so long to get gps-signal?

hey guys,
i have a little question,
i just bought a haicom gps receiver and use tomtom 2 software. When i get out of my garage, it takes always more than 15 minutes to get a signal. sometimes during driving i also lose it. How comes?
when i connect my device to the receiver and power, i get something like "connecting to t-mobile MMS"...
oh, btw i have a MDA II with latest NL t-mobile rom. 1.60....
if anyone could help please...
thanks!
The gps should only take this long when first used, after that it should lock in a matter of a couple of minutes, to test the gps properly it is best to test it outside the vehicle, I think most Haicom mouse gps come with magnetic base so stick it on the roof and drive around, if it works better it is probably becuase your car has a metallised windscreen which blocks the signal. The message about connecting to the service provider is an error due to the com port being accessed i think, mine used to bring up activesync every time but once I canged my activesync settings on the xda to manual instead of auto sync it solved the problem.
so i should always drive around with my window open?? and stick the receiver outside the car?
I would agree with Crusin Through - I think your car may well have some form of heated windscreen or heat reflecting windscreen. What car do you have.
If when you do place the receiver on the outside of the car you do get good signal you can get a special anntenna that had an outside part and an internal part that you can fit permanently to the car so you can still move the thing about. Bit like a mobile phone antenna.
Alternatively as you have the XDA II you can get a bluetooth receiver an place it on the rear parcel shelf (I think the wider heating strips won't affect it - but can't confirm it.)
John, I wasnt suggesting you drive around with your window open, I was suggesting a way to ascertain if your windscreen is the problem regarding your blocked gps signal, by the way I have used a gps on the roof and the window will shut almost all the way however as the last post mentioned you can obtain a re-radiating antenna, this will solve your problem if indeed the windscreen is the culprit.
Re-rediating antenna - that's the word I couldn't remember
ok guys, thanks. i'll try with such an extern antenna.
thanks for your help
Before you spend your money on the re-rad antenna - try the thing on the roof - if this works then the antenna is your only real option if you want to continue with the thing in the front windscreen.
I'd hate you to buy the re-rad and then find it doesn't work.
Incidently what car do you have? (Does it have a heat reflecting or headted windscreen)
And if it works outside,
you still don't have to buy an external antenna, as normally the windshield have an area where is not metal coating...
try to check the manual of your car..
i own a toyota Camry 2002 model, it has indeed a windscreen etc...

[Q] Amplify HTC (HD2) Bluetooth signal.

So I bought this bluetooth headset a pure beauty it self.
(Blackbeat903)
I have found out that my bluetooth signal is not strong at all.
The signal is supposed to reach 3 meters across. but as soon as I put it in my pocket, it begins to loose connection and I miss parts of calls/music.
I tryed to find out waht the problem is, first I thought it was because of programs in the background, that was not it, I even turn the mobile upwards in my pocket cause the transmitter is located in the upper part of the mobile.
But I geuss its just because the bluetooth is not strong enough to transmit trough human tissue? Now I can imagen that more poeple had this problem so is there a program of is there a way to boost my Bluetooth's signal range?
Greets.
It's just the way bluetooth is, you cannot simply change power class of bluetooth unit in HD2.
Well I didn't know about that.
But you can amplify allot of signals or sounds. So I thought it does not hurt to ask around.

[Q] Automatic Hands-Free Mode Using Bluetooth OBD Adapter

Hopefully I'm not asking about something that's already been answered. But after spending hours on google, forums, etc I'm finding myself at a dead end.
On my note 3 I've got to liking the hands free mode but forgetting to turn it on when I get in the car or even worse, not turning it off when I get out is getting really annoying.
Now unlike most, I don't have bluetooth audio in the car at all. I've never needed it & never will. A simple headset is good enough. Problem is, the headset is always on, driving or not.
So I'm left with the OBD adapter on the car as a potential for letting the phone know I'm driving. But I just can't the damm thing to work.
Now the OBD adapter connects to the phone perfectly fine & I can load up the info in pretty much any app I try. But trying to set the phones "location settings" for the car (using the OBD adapter) just isn't doing anything. No matter how many times I tap the OBD adapter in the menu, it just does nothing. Yet bluetooth audio devices connect right up.
So my question now, is.... can you use the OBD adapter as an option for car location? or is there a way to hack the phone to allow it as an option? or am I just not looking at it right?
Thank's in advance.

s4 GT-i9505 Bluetooth/Wifi problems

Hi
I have an issue with my Samsung Galaxy S4 GTi-9505 with Cyanogenmod 12.1 where having Wifi and Bluetooth enabled causes one another to stop working.
I believe this was a known issue but the net is strewn with out-of-date information and forum posts and I just cannot seem to find out whether or not there was ever a solution.
The actual problem is if I have both Wifi and Bluetooth enabled, connected to Wifi but no bluetooth device the Wifi will drop after a few minutes and will switch from 'Authenticating...' to 'Saved' over and over. Switching off the Bluetooth will allow the Wifi to stay connected. Switching off the Wifi and turning it back on will allow the Wifi to stay connected for a few minutes. If I am streaming music to my car's head unit via Bluetooth with Wifi enabled I'll get broken stuttery audio with occasional Bluetooth crashes.
Specs and stuff:
Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9505
Cyanogenmod: 12.1-20151106-Nightly
Modem/Baseband: XXUHOF2
Physical environment: Wifi 54G access point
Maybe relevant: open plan office with other random Bluetooth devices kicking around.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Bluetooth suddenly stops working and can't be turned on again - fixed only by reboot

Hello folks,
i atm i am Running RR 7.0.2 and having the problem that my bluetooth is disconnecting/reconnecting randomly in an interval of ~20 minutes in my car and nearly every day the bluetooth service on the phone completely stops working and then i have to reboot it to get it back working again. It's deactivated on the phone then and can't be activated, neither by the button on the pulldown menue nor in the settings.
My issue seems to be similar to the problems these guys encountered:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/oreo-bluetooth-t3851777
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/bluetooth-off-randomly-t3971491
Is anyone maybe having an idea why i am experiencing this behaviour or how to solve this issue?
Upgraded it to Resurrection Remix Q and the issue is gone so far, but my daily driver is now a Mi 10.
Many years ago and when my phones were Nokia S40 or Symbian, i had quite short on - off intervalls, every 5-10 seconds.
In this case here i suspect that you have just bad signal reception.
The connection between my S5 and my new car OBD adapter occasionally dropped until i switched from BT4.0 LE to BT 2.1. Stronger signal.
In such a case(phone on the dashboard, adapter below and metal in between) a direct connection may be impossible, making it depend on signal reflections from the chassis. Connection to the headunit was always stable, the radio sits atop the EOBD jack, and this alone may shield the adapter from the phone.
