How to get rid of "My Calendar" account - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use Google calendar and in options or when I create a new event, I see a calendar named "My Calendar". Previously I had also a calendar named "Samsung Calendar" but I managed to get rid of it by disabling get Samsung's account (using PackageDisablerPro). Still I cannot get rid of this annoying "My Calendar" account. Anyone knows how?
Thanks

My calendar is the phones calendar (which I guess don't sync to any other device, stay on the phone). When you are creating a new event, in the new event screen you can press the calendar and then change to the one you want to create the event for. There after the selected one will be your default.

You can also try (don't know if this works) open s calendar and the press more and calendars and try to deselect it. Might work since you are using a non Samsung calendar, no idea.

Google Calendar

I'm brand new to android, and smart phones in general. How do I access google calendar, other than through the web browser? Like is there a way to access it through the gmail app? I hope my question is clear. Thanks!

Add your Google account under "Accounts & Sync" in the settings menu and check the box for Calendar syncing...
It will then show up in the stock Android calendar on your phone.
I'm new as well. Coming from a Blackberry. Does the my calendar that is on the phone sync with the Google Calendar online? When I am adding entry's it ask where do I want to put them...
Laristech, the calendar on the phone syncs with google. I just tried it. I assume it works the other way around too.

Correct, it Syncs back and forth between computer and phone as the information is stored in the cloud. However, when adding new events on the Phone I always add them to the Google calendar, not to "My Calendar". Which is a pain because it always defaults to My Calendar and I have to change it each time I add an entry.

Gmail calendar problem

I bought my g/f a d2 and she has successfully enveloped her entire self in it, lol. And this from having only a trac phone b4 I knew she'd love it.
And now my question:
She managed to get the set up done by herself..entirely..
She created a gmail acct on the PC and everything except for her calendar syynced. When I attempt to add a calendar acct there isn't the option 2do so when selecting her existing acct. And when attempting to "add acct" it takes me to a screen that asks if I want to add or if I have existing acct.
Tap on existing and fill in username/pw it tells me there is already an acct under this name!! Of course there is I selected EXISTING acct!
.....basically her phone won't allow her to edit info on her calendar because it thinks she doesn't have a calendar acct. But won't let her use her existing gmail she started the phone with.
Any ideas?

When you go into Accounts & Sync, there is no option for cal sync at all? Or within the calendar you dont see the specific calendars she wants to sync?

Touchwiz Calendar

Hey all,
I am having trouble using the touchwiz calendar. I have four calendars to sync and only two of them are successfully syncing. I have toyed around with the settings to no avail. Has anyone had similar difficulties?
When I was using the tw calendar, I noticed it had a "my calendar" option. If you enter items on this calendar, it does not sync to Google. It stays only on your phone.
When u enter an appointment in tw calendar, I believe it defaults to "my calendar". You have to change the calendar manually to one of your Google syncing calendars.

Thank you, that is useful advice, but that was not the problem I was having. I actually found a solution.
I exported the calendar as iCal, deleted it from my google calendar settings, added a new calendar, and imported the events back onto it. Then I re-synced my account and the calendars appropriately synced.
Glad your squared up!

S planner and calendar syncing , feature or bug ?!

Using the s planner app,I have realized its got a bunch of useful and intersting features integrated with the s memo app, like linking handwritten memos and transcribing them into events or tasks. The quick add feature within the s planner is a very good addition too.
However, its still missing some basic stuff and features, which is quite irritating and annoying.
One of those features is the ability to add those quick events into the Google calendar by default !!!
No matter what I do, it adds that event into "my calendar" .. which is for some whatever reason, it cannot be synced with Google calendar !! So its only stored locally.
Even if I uncheck "my calendar" from the settings , it still adds the event to it but it only won't be visible unless u check the box again.
Removing Samsung account didn't help neither.
Is there anyway around this? Or an option to force the app to use Google calendar only?
could be a bug , or thats how samsung intented the way this app be used ?
Such basic features as calendar syncing with Google has been around since ages, im quite disappointed as this is my first samsung device. Samsung, by Not making the app behaving like normal calendar apps , will only make it useless and the whole point of this device (organizer, note,s pen) would be diminished
Edit:all the above applies to Tasks too.
any kind of help is highly appreciated.
Cheers

I already raised this frustrating issue in another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361732
I think the only hope is for a developer to have a stab at adding this functionality

I just got my Note today, did the 2.3.6 update, added an event in My Calendar, then it says "cannot sync with Google Calendar"
That is weird, and troublesome, for sure.
It's actually written in the user manual that it DOES NOT SYNC with google calendar. Nice "feature".

meh , why on earth they would do so !
Mine syncs perfectly. I looked in settings under calendar. I have "my calendar" and "my task" unchecked. Then I have a space with my name and a down arrow. I push the down arrow and it open a calendar with my gmail address. That is checked. Syncs perfectly.
I think the default for task/calendar is the local store, but you can choose another calendar. The option is covered by the keyboard but if you scroll down you can find it.
The problem is not that it won't sync with google calendars - it does. The annoying issue is that when you make a new calendar entry it defaults to 'My Calendar' rather than the google one. You are given the option to choose the google calendar but it is such a pain having to do that for every entry when with all other calendars you can choose your default calendar.
If you don't need the 'My Calendar' just tick it off in the settings. Then it defaults to the google calendar. Works this way since sgs 1 I think at least for me. I never have to choose the calendar when entering a new appointment with splanner in my google calender.

Agreed.
Either idiocy or arrogance on Smasung's part.
Do you need both calendars? If not you are talking of a non existing problem if I got you right (see my post above).

Hmm. this DOESN'T work for me. I have My Calender unchecked in the Calendars option, but it STILL defaults to my Calendar. very annoying. In addition, S-Planner is not syncing any of my events to my Exchange server. It pulls them down fine (if created elsewhere), but then doesn't update the server correctly. Grrr.

unticking the "my calendar" doesnt solve those issues , if u try to add an event via the "quick event" tab , or even from the s memo (which is supposed to be a great feature for GNote) , then it will default to "my calendar" even if it is unticked , it will be added ! but hidden!! since that checkbox is made for "display" not "enable/disable calendar" .
that's the way it is for me,so the quick event and s memo/planner events linking and organizers are nothing but useless ! (which is supposed to be a feature for this phone)
I have to admit I don't know what the 'Quick event' tab is. I just use the + button within the s planner (if I use it at all as I prefer other applications to enter my appointments).
Also when I create an appointment via s memo it defaults to my google calendar.
Have you checked your sync settings of the google calendar (there is an extra sync checkbox for the calendar)?
To be more precise there is a checkbox for calender sync as part of your google account reachable via calendar or general account settings.

Very interesting. The + button does default to google calendar if I have My Calendar unticked. But quick entry by tap and hold still defaults to My calendar, which is stupid and annoying.

The settings you refer to are purely "view settings". IE what calendar you see when looking at s planner, nothing at all to do with sync.
The point here is There is NO SETTING to uncheck the calendars you do not wish to select from therefore you need to select one every time you add any event which is a massive PITA...
Mine happens to default at "reminders calendar" which is a twat because I myself use icloud calendar (caldav).
Top and bottom of it is the s planner is shi t e.

Just had this email back from week calendar Dev: -
"Hi Peter, I have good new for you! We have a team working on a special Android version"
Cant wait!
Agenda & Agenda widget + birthdays
lol , this s planner thingy is either buggy or its got some kind weird , ridiculous and unproductive features !!!
i just stumbled upon another issue there , when i synced facebook contacts using friendcaster app , their birthdays were showing on the calendar (imagine the mess !) so i wanted to disable them.
since there is an option is s planner settings to untick the box for "show contacts birthdays" then its supposed to work right ? well it did somehow , the birthdays r no longer there on calendar monthly view , but on the agenda , they r still there !!! even on the agenda widget (which im using)
so to wrap this up ,, contacts birthdays will show up (and clutter) yr agenda and the agenda widget , no matter what u do (even if u untick birthdays display in the settings)..
please correct me if i am wrong but i dont think this is the way its suppose to work (at least it wasnt like that on my HTC Desire HD) .
Cheers.

If you are in the 1 day, 3 days or week view, you can click on the timeline and 'Quick event' tab opens up which defaults to 'My Calendar' even though it is disabled. There is however button 'Edit event details' on the Quick Event window where calendar of choice is preselected. Thank God!!

Stock email app not syncing email

Anybody having an issue of the stock email app not syncing?
I have tried clearing data and cache of the app multiple times and re-setting up my account.
The app will download my emails the first time round after setting up.
However after that, new emails won't show up even when pressing the manual sync.
I am very sure my settings are correct as the stock email app on my S4 with the same settings are working fine.

I had a similar problem, I couldn't get push email to maintain a connection so I only got mail when I opened the app. I had initially configured it for timed sync then changed it to push only. No amount of messing with the settings would fix it!
I wiped my phone to get the MJ1 update and now my push email works, so maybe the update or maybe freshly inputting the settings did the trick?
ME TOO!
I am having this same problem. Anyone know the fix outside of an update? I am on AT&T Note 3
Same on t-mobile. I can manually refresh but it is not downloading messages even though I have push settings on.

Same problem here i have no idea what to do Im using K9 but it sucks
Rooting my AT&T phone with the MI9 firmware fixed my push email problem, but I have no idea why, or if it was just a coincidence, or what. It's been working just fine for the last two days using K-9.
Its very simple
1. Make sure you use imap and automatic (Push) is selected while u set up the accout
2 Make sure you have sync enabled under the settings /device/notification panel/then drag the sync button to notification panel and make sure its green

It's only "very simple" if it actually works, which in this case, it doesn't, necessarily. The settings on my device were correct, but that didn't stop push email from being completely unreliable.
Same on EE Note 3 (UK)
I have the same issue with my Note 3 stock email - multiple IMAP accounts, and only the default account syncs properly, despite ensuring all of the settings are the same for each account (I have 'push' enabled for all of them, with phone set to sync, obviously it's not THAT simple...).
It's definitely the stock email - I installed K9 and it works fine, but as mentioned above looks cack. When I re-set account settings on the stock email, it syncs properly initially, but doesn't continue to do so. I really hope this doesn't need a factory reset, just spent 2 weeks getting it set up how I like... Disappointed that something so fundamental doesn't work on a supposed business-oriented phone, not to mention continuing lack of Google Tasks integration on S-planner...
Any updates or did the latest FW update change anything? It didn't for me.
I have the same issue with manual refreshes on my IMAP email account. Was about to post a thread but apparently I am not alone. I have another Hotmail account on the stock mail app that have been sync'ing fine nevertheless. I don't have any problem with the Gmail app either.
For me I found 2 really dirty ways to get it to manually refresh. May not work for others.
(1) Scroll to the bottom of the mail list and drag upwards. I have a lot of residue email in my mailbox upstream so when I do that it loads more email, and by doing so it seems to get a chance to synchronize with the IMAP account. Of course, I will get more and more old email on the phone.
(2) Change the number of email to download in settings and then hit the refresh icon seems to work for me.
Both are bad. Or should we just use another email app? Any good ones to recommend?
Should set d email manually or should try with other account
Sent from my GT-S7562 using xda app-developers app
No, the problem is not with push email or automatic refresh. It's even manual refresh with the button click that is not working. And since I can get it to refresh by using dirty tricks without touching account credentials, it's not account misconfiguration either.

Tried this, it makes no difference, IMAP is still not working.
Not quite sure why you wrote this four times, it doesn't make it any more correct or helpful.
