Gmail calendar problem - Droid 2 General

I bought my g/f a d2 and she has successfully enveloped her entire self in it, lol. And this from having only a trac phone b4 I knew she'd love it.
And now my question:
She managed to get the set up done by herself..entirely..
She created a gmail acct on the PC and everything except for her calendar syynced. When I attempt to add a calendar acct there isn't the option 2do so when selecting her existing acct. And when attempting to "add acct" it takes me to a screen that asks if I want to add or if I have existing acct.
Tap on existing and fill in username/pw it tells me there is already an acct under this name!! Of course there is I selected EXISTING acct!
.....basically her phone won't allow her to edit info on her calendar because it thinks she doesn't have a calendar acct. But won't let her use her existing gmail she started the phone with.
Any ideas?

When you go into Accounts & Sync, there is no option for cal sync at all? Or within the calendar you dont see the specific calendars she wants to sync?

Google Calendar

I'm brand new to android, and smart phones in general. How do I access google calendar, other than through the web browser? Like is there a way to access it through the gmail app? I hope my question is clear. Thanks!

Add your Google account under "Accounts & Sync" in the settings menu and check the box for Calendar syncing...
It will then show up in the stock Android calendar on your phone.
I'm new as well. Coming from a Blackberry. Does the my calendar that is on the phone sync with the Google Calendar online? When I am adding entry's it ask where do I want to put them...
Laristech, the calendar on the phone syncs with google. I just tried it. I assume it works the other way around too.

Correct, it Syncs back and forth between computer and phone as the information is stored in the cloud. However, when adding new events on the Phone I always add them to the Google calendar, not to "My Calendar". Which is a pain because it always defaults to My Calendar and I have to change it each time I add an entry.

[Q] Google Calendar setup on Droid2?

First, hello. First post, I'm an HTC Incredible owner (root, s-off, SkyRaider 2.2 ROM), and my wife just got a Droid2.
I'm stumped on trying to get her Google calendar to show up on her Droid2.
Accounts shows her Google account and when I tap it, it shows options for synch of email and contacts, but there is no entry for calendar like there is on my Incredible.
When I go to the option to add an account, there is no option to add a calendar to synch (not that I expected one).
So, basically, she has a useless calendar app, you can't even add entries, because it wants something to synch with first.
What am I missing?
That's strange. Sync Calendar is there on my Droid 2 and works fine. Has she set up her calendar through Gmail online yet? Might need to do that first.
Yeah, I thought that might be it, you're right, it is a new account.
I set up her calendar through Gmail on line and added one event about an hour ago.
Maybe I should just give it some time...or, maybe I need to delete her Google account on the phone and re-add it?
Yeah I would delete and re-add the account.
Yup, that did it...of course, I had to go through a full factory reset to delete that account, but after a bit of setup all over again, she's in business. Thx.

GMAIL Calendar not appearing in list

When I go to my GMAIL account setup, Calendar does not appear on the list (Contacts does). Does anyone know why and/or what I can do to make sure that Droid 2 sync's with my Google Calendar?
no worries.
Android only allows one account to sync calendar information. But, you're not out of luck. You can share all of the other accounts' calendars into the main (initial) gmail account you entered. I'm doing this with multiple calendars through the one main account, and it works great.
Go to the 'other' calendar accounts through a computer browser and share (full permission share) with the one account that is synced properly. It's easy, fun, and fulfilling!
From my research ... this solved it for me:
From a different forum ... this worked for me:
1. Go to 'my accounts' on droid 2
2. Click on 'create account'
3. choose google account
4. Follow the process for creating a new gmail acct not just adding your original to create a dummy account
5. Make sure all sync options are checked
6. Finalize account creation
7. Go to your calendar and create a new event using your ORIGINAL gmail acct not the new/dummy account
8. Save event
9. Go back into my accounts and check your original account sync options, calendar should now be there
10. Remove your dummy account from your phone
Awesome!!
Simple process and it works

[QNS] syncing phone contact with gmail account

Hi there,
I have two gmail accounts set in my phone.
I have no problems syncing contacts from phone to my first gmail acc or vice versa.
But I couldnt get to sync my phone contacts to the second gmail account? Is it meant to be like that? if not, how can I get my phone contacts appear in my second gmail account?
I'm not too sure why it won't sync but I guess each device will sync with only one account at one time...so if you need to get device contacts to your other account, you could do a manual export from device and a import from your gmail account...

I beg your pardon as what you just said is certainly not correct.
I myself have my contacts, emails, calender synced with not one, not two but three gmail accounts.
usually when adding an account it asks for what all to sync. and if incase it didnt, i recommend going to Settings -> Accounts -> 1) remove the account of which contacts cant be synced. 2) add an account, input the credentials of the affected account. 3) it must give you 3 options for sync, respectively ("Contacts", "email", "Calender").
I assume you are using a stable build and not some experimental/DEV ROM.

How to get Facebook contacts to show up in the People app?

On my Galaxy S3, when I ran the Facebook app for the first time and signed in, it popped up a screen asking if I wanted to sync contacts and I could choose to sync all contacts, just the contacts that were already on my phone, or no contacts at all.
I installed the Facebook app on my Nexus 7 and that screen doesn't appear. When I logged in for the first time, it just went to the regular status updates page.
If I go into Settings - Accounts, and click on my Facebook account, there's a check mark next to Contacts for them to be synced. Also, if I go into the People app's settings and go to "Contacts to display" my Facebook account is listed there and I have it set to display all contacts, but none of my Facebook contacts are listed.
Any idea how I can get this to work? Thanks.
Haxsync!

You need an app like HaxSync or a custom rom that has Facebook sync baked into it.
Nexus devices don't have it stock apparently because of Google and Facebook dispute over the API or something its the same on Gnex and Nexus S
Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried HaxSync, but unfortunately it doesn't do what I want.
HaxSync pulls down Facebook info for the contacts that already exist on my phone, but that's all it does. What I want to do is add all of my Facebook contacts to the people app, even if they're not listed on my phone already.
Go into the HaxSync account in settings, click Preferences, Contact Settings, and uncheck "Existing Contacts Only" ..you may need to delete the account and re-add it to force it
Exactly! ^
The only reason I use haxsync is for photos for contacts. It does its job flawlessly.
