Read this article today. What a great contributor to the Android world! Wow, http://androidcommunity.com/chainfi...ersu-app-will-pursue-other-projects-20151001/
A little off-topic, device-wise, but we'll leave it in place for now.
Unless things get out of hand...
I got a shield tablet K1 today and when I saw this I thought he was giving up rooting it
He is a great developer. I can understand his ppavement although it's someqwhat disappointing to a degree. I hope he can create another breakthrough. I've been using his work of art since 2012 and it's great
Sorry to hear that, switched from superuser to supersu when it came out. Great app. On the other hand if this is what he wants/needs then more power to him.

Hi guys and gals, first I'll introduce myself properly. My name is Chris, I'm 22 and live near leeds in england. I'm currently setting up a small blog interviewing android developers to give the general public a little look into the life of a developer. My aim is to try and help people realise that developers however great or small have a life beyond programming. It will also help advertise work created by some of the lesser known devs out there.
Currently I have only interviewed one developer and am uploading that at some point today, but I do have a list of others I intend to speak with.
I've even had a suggestion from one of those developers to interview an XDA moderator, to show you guys how much junk they have to put up with and clean on a regular basis to help give you the nice friendly happy community we have now. (Mikey, your name was mentioned but any mod can participate)
So without further ado, the blog address is interviewing-devs.blogspot.com
As a comic twist to the whole thing, I intend to do the whole thing from my G1 which is proving a little complicated as I seem to be getting a few FC errors with androblogger, and the blogger website looks a little funky on the G1.
As a quick note, there is no profit to be made by myself doing this, but I will be placing donation links for each developer interviewed.
So, if you're a dev and want to join in, let me know. If you know a dev and would like to see an interview, let them know about me and get them to contact me
Code:
Interview with Maxisma online now
Many thanks to all the devs on my list so far for making this whole thing possible, and also a huge thanks to everybody here for having a community worth joining.
You should interview the Wrecking Crew to show what we have to put up with too.

Mornin I sent you a shout out in another post. It looks like it's gonna be me and you and codini today. Gridlock told me he ain't gonna be on til like 8 tonight. I think he just don't want to get flamed like friday.
Interviewing devs is nice but if you want to catch the entire view of the G1 hacking/modding/rooting whatever term you want to use world. Then you need the point of view from new users, seniors, and devs. Remember devs don't deal with problems unless the problem effects alot of people and is verified by themselves or people he trusts. Also there wouldn't be an interest in a dev's interview without the masses following his work. Get those interviews first so you can ask the correct, hard hitting questions to the devs.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm at work at the moment but once I get home, Maxisma's interview will be posted, and I'll move onto another dev. At the moment probably the biggest names I have are Cyanogen and manup456. I did ask haykuro but he hasn't got back to me, and I'm still asking other devs.
Your constructive critisism is greatly appreciated, and ideas taken on board
Ladies and Gents, the second interview is underway, and you're all going to be surprised at who I'm speaking to. Keep watching this space for more news. Hopefully I'll get everything asked and answered before Monday, but due to a time difference of several hours there may be a delay, just depends if my dev and I can get online at the same time.
But anyway, provided everything goes well, it should be finished by Monday for your reading pleasure.
If you have any questions you wish to ask a dev not already interviewed, let me know and I'll add it to my list
First and foremost I Praise be to the Devs on this site, you are gods to the android community
Second: I looked around the forum and I swear I didn't see a post about this so I apologize if it's a repost.
I was sitting in my house tonight and had a friend come over that I decided to root his evo for him and use the current Mikfroyo. So I get done with the root and rom and start going through things to make sure it was stable. long story short, I opened the Hulu app and it stated that it wasn't supported (ArGH!). I tried the same on my Evo that I rooted two weeks ago and it didn't work either (Loving the Rom BTW thank you for making it, donating when I get the cash)... anyway are any devs aware of this (I tried different versions as well and got the same)
Posted this here just to be safe, if this needs to be else where I hope someone will move it.
Thank you Devs for all that you do and I'm learning to create my own rom on here hopefully one day it will be good enough to post side by side with you guys

Hey guys, I've been following the Adam for months now and have only seen the video from Longbox for comics, I was wondering if anyone had posted a video of comics on the Adam that I haven't found yet. If not could someone post a video of it? I was hoping for something along the lines of Arkham Asylum or Ultimate Spider-man.

Sweet! Thanks a lot dude.
Btw, Did you put a bunch of videos up on YouTube under this username? I liked them a lot, they helped me decide to buy an Adam now instead of waiting months more!

Wait...those videos were you... very nice job!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
yup those were all mine
Cool man! These videos are some of the best and self-explanatory I've seen so far (even if they make the wait for Adam tougher and tougher).
I just registered here so "Hello World", I'm pretty excited to finally made up my mind and join this community. I've always read a lot about xda and admired you guys!
I hope to become involved in hacking and development as i love Android (beginner developer on it), I'm a computer engineering student and I work as a Java developer.
If I' allowed to on my very first post, I'd have a request/suggest for you.
Have you tried to sideload Worms for Android?
It's out for a while now and I love it (always loved Worms since the firsts versions when I had to run it from dos).
Although, nexus one screen is way to small for it! I wonder if it can run on my yet to ship Adam and how.
I've purchased it from the Android Market, it really worth the money.
It's wonderful to see lots of apps I mean to install on Adam already working pretty good on yours. Can't wait for mine to be shipped on 14th and start developing for it.
Cheers

Let me guess? Battery life?
Are you willing to give a shot (literally) to Worms? If it runs good on a big screen you're gonna love it!
I've purchased it, not sure how to do it but maybe I can provide you the apk for testing purpose..
nice post inspiron, good to see a nice FREE app is available for comics on the android and looks great running on the Adam. I'd also like to see how well comic reader mobi, jjcomics, and MangaWhat or Mango fare on the Adam (I'll be able to find out around beginning of next month when my Adam is delivered!).
Today is the new rebirth of the Nexus One. The Future is near.
Windows Phone 7 for the Nexus One is up for grabs for any developer who thinks they can handle this feat.
I have built a sister thread to this in the Evo 4g Development site.
Further down is some information of our progress.
We have a small team working on the Evo 4g but we need more people to help work on this for the Nexus One. Think of this as CM7 but instead of AOSP - WP7

I think I have some sort of structure now. It's insanely buggy. It fails ALMOST immediately. At least it sort of tries to boot WP7... sort of. I still have quite a bit of research and trial and error still to come, but I believe I'm on to something where before I really felt like I was stabbing in the dark. Trap the errors, trap the errors, trap the errors and debuuuuuuuug.
I think I might be going insane haha.......I look forward to the day that I have something worth posting......so shut down....naysayers. We're still a ways from that day still unfortunately.
[.....]My apprearances may be scarce for the next 4 days.......I'll be back for certain.

I'd also like to level set with all the folks that are anxious to get WP7 on their EVO. I guarantee you that this is at least 60 days out until it is safe enough for anyone other than the dev(s) to test/flash.
We should add the word "Project" to the Subject of this thread. We should also add the rule "Do Not Ask for an ETA" in Bold, All Caps, bright red text. That is by far one of The Most irritating things to a dev, and I've known it to cause devs to not post progress updates. That is the number 1 rule of etiquette for projects like this. I hope everyone in this thread can understand and respect that.

We allow these, but do not heavily moderate them. If things turn sour, most we're going to do is close the thread. I recently closed and subsequently reopened one of these....kinda the same policy as the MP...hands off / donator beware.

Dear Devs,
We thank you for your service. We thank you for all the new roms that make our devices unique. We thank you for the apps that you built for us, that make our phones ours not the companies. Because of you we can express our individuality.
With that being said, we ask one more thing from you. We ask you to take our devices to the next level. We ask you to push the borders once again. Let us all come together and create a TRULY COMMUNITY BUILT PORT of WP7 for our devices. A difficult feat none the less, but we can do it, TOGETHER.
Personally I think we can build this project to rival Cyanogen mod, rival not in our perice of software is better then yours but in that the amount of community members and, contributions of sofware, are friendyer and more together. Rivals and friends at the same time.
This is an open bounty for any team of developers that can get a working port of WP7 that boots and can at least have Wi-Fi working.

it's really nice,good job
Cool
Wow, this project is awesome I hope this will be the remark of nexus one's revival
we need more devs please step up
Thread moved, as there is no active development going on in the thread. Once there is actual development happening in the thread, PM me, and I'll move it.
Seems like you've got a really neat project on your hands but your rules post comes off as really entitled and arrogant. Good luck with your work.
I'm pretty excited by this! Just the kind of thing to breathe some new life into my N1. The dual-boot option, if feasible, sounds like a really neat idea.
Hi. Just wondering, has there been any movement since? Thanks.

Ok so first and foremost, I own a samsung captivate, so I know a little about android. I've rooted it.
Now I'm looking to enter the tablet scene. Being a college student, I'm looking for cheap ones lol. I've seen a video on youtube with someone running cyanogenmod 7 with working sound on the kindle fire and so i found that to be my best bet on getting the most out of a cheap tablet.
reading up on the rooting for the KF, I found people with version 6.2.2 to have met a lot of issues.
I Plan on ordering one later this month, so I'm putting my guess on it'll be in the latest version (6.2.2) and that gives me the caution that makes me write this post
anyways what are your (the experts from XDA - being anyone not me) thoughts, and advice for me to avoid bricking and ruining a 200 buck investment (or perhaps 180 if i get refurbished)?
i bought kindle fire when the 1st time it released. during that time, superoneclick is the utility to root, now with new firmware, we can use burritoroot.. so far i haven't heard total bricked issue (i think so). common problem usually bootloop, stuck in bootloader. etc but all can be fixed... i think no need to be afraid. i already root, unroot, install various recovery, backup, restore backup, etc and not a single problem.
if u want to install cm7, that is a good choice but some minor bugs still exist but so far cm7 is most stable compare to other custom rom (except "custom stock" rom)..
The Kindle Fire is a great choice. I have two (one for my wife) and have loved every minute with them. I ran the factory rom for all of 2 weeks before rooting and eventually settling on CM9. I really enjoy the ice cream sandwich version despite the minor bugs. These are very quickly disappearing as the wonderful devs are pounding away the code to make our life better.
So as a college student get a kindle they are cheep and I have found to be very robust. Then quickly ditch the horrible and limited kindle rom. CM7 or CM9 is a fine choice you will be happy with your sweet tablet. I get comments on mine all the time.
Awesome, you guys are reassuring me with making this purchase.
I'm quite intrigued by the comparison of CM7 and CM9.
any personal opinion on the difference? (I'm watching youtube videos now, but I like cutting down false feedback from trolls in the comments lol.)

CM7 is stable and work flawlessly for me
CM9 is (yet) in experimental phase
If you want to make experiments with your rom, take CM9
If you just want to flash rom and forget about it, take CM7
I have no problem helping people out, and I hate to be the prude who calls you out, but there are tons of threads just like yours already in the forum which people have already answered. Basically you want a tutorial, which there are many of in the forums, but you instead made a new post. In the future, spend more than 5 minutes in the forums before calling out for help.
Nothing to it, see sig. Plenty of threads to help. Search and yea shall find, or browse a little.

._. I've done research for about 3 days...
As stated, most stuff Read up on was about version 2.2.1 which people used burrito1 for.
after KF was updated, I ran across the instructions to use burrito2 or 3, in which case upon searching, 3/4th of the posts found was "I'm having problems"
I simply wanted to take an extra precaution before making a big jump in a budget... I apologize if that seemed redundant to the people who take the time out to aid people like me, but I assure I thank you all regardless of this point ^^ .

good point. The price point on the KG has brought a flood of noobs who don't understand forum etiquette. And there are plenty of posts that offer bad help. I am like you and spent five days reading and bookmarking and rereading. Do all the root with adb and not the scripts is my best advice. Good luck.
