Hi, I faced the same problem. I need to enable lte band 3 (1800 mhz). Is it hardware or software issue?
Appreciate any hints or comments.

So has anyone tried to unlock additional LTE bands, specifically band 17? If this is possible using this method I'd love to get this phone. Otherwise it's not worth it on AT&T. If someone can confirm that this works that would be awesome! Thanks very much.

Same boat here - just got my Vivo Air LTE today and as it's such a stunning device I really want to make it my new daily driver. As such there are a few things I want to change that I need root for, namely the ability to change the DPI scaling so I can essentially get more space on the display as I'm used to my previous Nexus 6 and it's 1440p display.

Well it seems I'm just stupid. I tried KingRoot and had no luck but didn't realize it was an old version. I went to the site (www.kingroot.net) directly to install the latest and bingo, worked like a charm. Now that it's rooted I was able to change the DPI to make everything smaller so I can effectively get more screen space. Given I'm used to 6" devices things are a bit smaller than I'd like but not too small. All-in-all it's now the greatest device I've ever used.

htc Wifi Hot spot app from Evo4g, possible porting?

Hi,
is there a way to extract the htc Wifi Hot spot app from Evo4g shipped rom? the rom has been released today here http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
I'm not really into the rom modding, apk creation and app porting but if anyone more capable can look into it that'd be awesome
Thanks in advance, i'm really missing this feature from my old touch hd~
I have extracted, de-odexed and signed the apk. It installed successfully but i get FC if i launch the app. Unfortunately my skills end here, i dont even know how to get app crash logs and stuff, and chances are i wouldnt know what do to with them even if i had them .
It is also possible that the hotspot app is somehow bound to WCDMA protocols and ****..
I'm attaching the apk if someone more skilled than me is interested in taking a look
Nice that's something, atleast you try'd
Nice thread. Hope you can get some help from others.
On this occassion, have you tried perhaps the video app, it supports 720p.
One more thing, the EVO4 has a different kind of Snapdragon than Desire, this could be the cause of force close.
They're not that different, the Evo4G snapdragon is just a new revision with WCDMA support, probably there's more stuff to port, maybe some library in the rom.
We've to read the error log to figure that out

The EVO does not support WCDMA!
EVO supports CDMA (3G) and WiMAX (4G) - WCDMA is part of the GSM standard upon which HSDPA is implemented, and the EVO is most emphatically not a GSM phone.
Regards,
Dave
I can see how people would get confused though, what with the GSM Forum calling their 3G standard WCDMA - I appreciate that it's a description of how it works, but it was bound to create confusion regarding the existing (and totally unrelated) CDMA standards.

[Q] Q700i: 3G on both SIM slots

Hey guys,
I purchased Q700i recently and could not find a way to enable 3G network on both SIMs. I understand that I can use only one SIM at a single time for data, but I have 2 SIM and both are 3G enabled and I need to alternate between using them. Moto G supports 3G on both SIM by default.
Earlier, I had a very basic entry level android phone (Micromax A50) and even this INR 4K phone supported 3G on both the SIMs.
Any idea if this can be done? Or basically it is a hardware limitation with Q700i?
Thanks
First if all you are using xolo not mmx a50.
2nd its software limitation.
And bro before creating a thread search is must..

Thanks Rajit for your response.
Yes, I understand about the difference between the two phones; but my question was regarding the limitation. If software, we can probably patch it. If it's hardware, we are stuck. Also, comparison with MMX was to differentiate that even a 4K mobile had this functionality (had it been a hardware limitation).
I tried searching around, but could not find it. Can you please share the link if you have it.
Edit: Also, if you can tell me how to enable it without installing custom ROMs... it would be great.
Thanks,

Rajit: Are you sure the 3G not enabled on SIM2 is a software limitation? I went to Engineering Mode, and in the Band Mode it shows UMTS only in SIM1 and not SIM2. Not sure if this is any indication.
Please comment. I need to understand if I would be able to use 2 3G SIM cards on my phone or not (of course using a single 3G at any particular time)

When you flash the newest version of the Enabler it will also flas the latest hybrid modem. THe you go to your dialer and tap in the following *#*#4636#*#* and a screen will pop up and select phone information . You will then be presented with a screen that will list all the phone info.. move down to where it says select prefered network type. Press on it and it will offer you a selection of options.
I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes

This enables LTE on the phone. It has the physical capability to operate on LTE, however, the phone never got FCC approval for it, so LG left LTE off by default, with HSPA being the fastest spectrum it is capable off without modifying the modem and files. Flashing this package will modify your modem an build.prop to allow it to operate on the LTE Band 4 spectrum, which is what is used in the US. If you are outside the US, you will only see any benefit if Band 4 is used in your area.
Cliff Notes is that it makes your mobile data a whole lot faster.

Did someone try to unlock LTE bands?

"The Helio X10 will be the first chip, which support all bands wordwide"
I really need band 20 for EU LTE but I need to wait for my Redmi Note 2 prime. So did someone try to unlock more bands?
How do u know it is support all bands?
[I saw at enginering mode, band 20 currently not support
I think he wanted to quote it from some sites.
Many Blogs/Shops have that sentence included, they have to do some advertisement.
But as far as I know some reviews also claimed Band 20 (which is very important in Germany) is not supported.
MediaTek sad "Our new chip will be the first, which support LTE worldwide, over 47 bands".
It support all bands but Xiaomi just buy 3 bands.
We need a tutorial, how to unlock other bands.

I think we are kind of far off for a tutorial. From what I've gathered, there are very limited phones with this chip in them at this time, which means we have very little developer support.
Hopefully there are some people reading these forums more advanced than I, but from what I've gathered we wish we had some sort of diagnostic tool like the Qualcomm Diagnostic Tools, but it doesn't appear that MediaTek has something like this. (That has been released anyways)
If the chip supports all bands, then one would think that bands could be restricted at the Baseband. The Baseband gets commands from RIL and Vendor RIL Drivers (That should be located in some of the system driver folders. I have one of the RIL files pulled to my PC, but haven't had time to try and check it out. I'm guessing because its been compiled, it probably wont have anything that is readable or makes any sense to me. Would be pretty sweet if it was as simple as hexediting some flags to turn bands on.
Also, I'm sure the baseband is compiled, and protected, so I'm not sure how easy it is to pull from a rom, or from a phone for that matter... and then once its pulled, if anything will be easy to read for clues reguarding Radio Interface, or Modem Bands...
Anyone available to lend me some knowledge on the subject? I would love a little primer or some reading information to help with this quest.
Thanks!

still waiting....
^ waiting will get you (us) nowhere. Looking through those files, it seems that the file where the bands are defined is this. It's non-trivial to "enable" them, though, seems like you have to know exactly which hex codes do what to set the radio up correctly.
That's a find there...

Hmmm... Maybe Elephone can help us? This company got phones with MediaTek SoC and more LTE bands?

My Note2 is on the way. One of the first thing I will try will be using other phone's rils with similar soc (like the mx5 that support B20). The files are in /system/etc/firmware. If we are lucky, this will be enough. Otherwise it will be a long hacking road.

First of all, make a backup of your IMEI and NVRAM.
Second, I'm attaching the firmware files of MX5. I'm not sure about which one should be replaced on Note2, but my guess would be one of the modem...img files.
So, make a backup of your firmware files, and try to replace them (you need root, and r/w mounted system, then adb from pc, or es file explorer from the phone itself can do the job), and reboot.
See if it makes any difference in available bands. Oh and don't forget to make the new files have the exact permissions as the old one had.

Is there a method to use jio sim in zenfone 5 3G??

There is a trick to use jio 4g in 3g MTK and Qualcomm devices, but i am having a hard time to find a solution for zenfone 5 which is powered by an Intel chipset....Please help
Get a device changer app( an app that let other apps think you're using some other phone) and do the necessary steps like installing all jio apps and getting the code
Still the answer would be NO because Jio is 4G LTE only network, it doesn't support HSPA or HSUPA or GSM.

Strange... Jio states that their network is 4G only. If anyhow this is possible, it is only possible through enabling 4G via software only when it is restricted. Just like Nokia did on their Lumia phones, their phones had 4G in hardware but they didn't enabled it but a few months later Nokia issued an update which enabled that.

Yes it is: *#*#4636#*#* Dial this and you can access the hidden menu without root and you can even set LTE network mode but unfortunately it doesn't work. There may be solution for MTK devices but this is Intel device so don't expect that because Asus doesn't provide a **** in open source.

Another query bro! My phone is losing Baseband time to time. Every time I fix it, on 3rd or 4th reboot it's dead again. Then after some more reboots it comes back automatically. Should I get the Baseband Chip replaced?

After a little research:
"You need to find chipset of android device. Your android smartphone must have run mediatek or qualcomm snapdragon chipset."
Basically you need a phone with LTE on hardware, even if it doesnt have the 4G LTE antenna as it still has 4G support if you "mod" hardware or find how to enable it (remember nexus 4?) tho thats not the case on the zenfone first gen series, unless yours come with snapdragon.
So please understand IT IS IMPOSSIBLE END OF STORY STOP DEBATING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THERES NO HOW TO DO IT.
good options it to learn from mistakes and use only devices with snapdragon for now on, i kept my zf5 but upgraded to oneplus

Never. The real problem is that when the SIM gets inserted, it loses Baseband (the way I described), else not. I'm using the phone without SIM since last week, no re-boot and no baseband lost issue, so probably it's something related to hardware.
I research on Google and find something like editing build.prob to enable selecting LTE on engineering mood network settings but I don't try it is there anyone try to edit build.prob

If your hardware doesnot support LTE bands then there is no way to use it . it doesn't matter what changes you do in software .
Nothing for now.
So yeah, you're doomed.
