Thanks,

Hello all,
While messing around I found a folder on the root of the phone named "root". Is this supposed to be there in a stock setup? If anyone could provide the directory structure of a fresh 2.2 OTA flash I would really appreciate it.
I'm ultimately looking for any differences in a rooted and stock directory structure. I'm trying to avoid an unnecessary flash, was hoping somebody had it handy.

Even if you only answer the question of the" root" folder at the root of the phone file structure. I really appreciate it.

That is always there...has nothing to do with rooting the phone...
Hi everyone!
I have the problem that I want to change the GPS settings in the etc/gps.conf file. But I have no chance to get root access to my device. I tried the "super tools" root file explorer without success.
Does anyone have a short WORKING procedure how to edit/copy/replace the gps.conf on a HTC HD2 with stock desire NAND froyo image??
(Whats is adb? cwm? cwr= how to "root" my android??)
Thanks in advance!

Hey ladies and gents I rooted my atrix and even learned how to change the splash boot animations and now I am ready to use root explorer to clean my phone of junk files and left over files left over from un installed files. Do you have a list or for way of telling which files to delete without messing up my ATRIX?? Thanks

How would the app work without root? It has to have permission.

No. No software is able to access that partition without rooting. It will not have the proper permissions.

There's always adb!
Its what developers use to test apps.
You can access system partition(can only copy files from phone not push), and data partition. android commander is something you would like to use as a ADB file manager. There's many guides online to get adb working. But this is all done on a PC.
Also you can access data partition with a non-rooted phone, and I'm sure you can copy stuff from it with root explorer for example. I'm not sure about putting files in that partition and editing .xml and .txt with root explorer though.

Yeah, phones fully rooted. I'm using fx explorer with root add on and it's had permission by supersu
I dont personally use that, but i think theres something you need to tick or to get it to work properly. Maybe try googling otherwise wait for someone who uses it responds.

Apart from having root your file explorer should also have a option to mount system partition with write permissions
