Hi All,
So I've moved over to "Ting" from Verizon and I paid off my Galaxy Note3.
Is there a way to root this device and get rid of all verizon notifications etc, my phone works fine, but I get the verizon start notification and notification that my sim is not verizon etc, obviously I will not be able to get any OS updates too from verizon or TING, How can I install a custom ROM still be able to use the TING service, which is I believe a sister company of T mobile.
Thanks.

There is no way to root it. You cannot install a custom ROM.

Ting........
What OS is on it currently? If it is 4.4.2 or lower you should be able to root it to a custom Rom. If it is 4.4.4 or newer, you are out of luck.

That sucks! Thanks for the advice. Does this mean I'll be on the Verizon/ Samsung ROM forever?

I am also looking to root my sm-n900v on 5.0 lollipop because I cannot stand the Verizon nonsense clogging up my device. Also, I leave for Europe on the 9th and was hoping to use local sims instead of Verizon international. I was under the impression Note 3 was unlocked for this kind of use, but when trying to use a local sim in Mexico, I was told the phone was locked. Is a rooted phone necessary to switch out and use an international SIM? If so I must scramble to figure out another option as I was hoping to root my device, not understanding this was not possible. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

So there is no possible way to root a lollipop Verizon Note 3? That is a bit crazy but the only reason I wanted to root was to remove the pre-installed apps. Please update if anyone has figured out some way. I wish these phones didn't come with all this bloatware. The Samsung apps are fine but Verizon are the ones I'd like to get rid of or at least some of them. Thanks!!

There is no root for the n900v 4.4.4 or later versions, and it doesn't seem anyone is working on one.
At least that was a direct answer! ugh just bummed out now because I was forced to come back to this phone after my other one got a tiny splatter of water on it and freaking DIED.

Recently I purchased a note 3 off ebay to use tell Im available for an upgrade. I'm not sure what software version is on it cause I haven't gotten it. Just have a few questions.
Is the only way you can root is in 4.4.2 ?
If the phone comes can't I downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.4 and them to 4.4.2.
Please understand I'm new to Samsung so not sure it all works. Coming from all htc devices like DNA and one max.

no, you can root Lollipop as well.
there are ways to downgrade but you have to be careful...
Look out for threads in General section and work on the method specific to your model (about downgrade)

Verizon version is not rootable, nor does it accept custom recoveries. You better choose another variant, if that is important to you.

You are correct. Samsung phones all come bootloader unlocked, unless the carriers wants them locked (as was the case with Verizon and AT&T for the Note 4).
The locked versions have almost never successfully been unlocked.
So if you can, stay away from these two variants.

Then why are people saying I can root it.... I do know the phone is coming networked unlocked. I find it crazy that if you can't unlock a verizon bootloader that there are roms that support verizon.
So what your telling me is there's no possible way to root even on stock so i can run xposed framework.?

Some firmware versions have vulnerabilities, which can be exploited to gain root/install safestrap. Some versions allow downgrading to vulnerable versions. But not all.
You should check the Verizon forums for more information http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3.

No. Verizon uses CDMA and will not allow 3rd party phones on their network. T-Mobile uses GSM and will NOT work on Verizon network. Period. You MUST use a Verizon branded device on Verizon network.

Well, just got the phone in the mail and it seems that it came with 5.0 so I guess I'm outta luck for root. First phone I've ever had that I can't root. I'm sad aha
Hello all, i have a Verizon note 3 model sm-n900v, im running lollipop v5.0 stock ROM from Verizon update, i have a few questions that i need help with
1. i need root access to use some apps that require root, i know there is no working root method for the v5.0 update right now, i don't care about the Knox counter if i trip it or not, i just want root access,
2. is there any way to flash a rom that has root access ? if so whats a good rom to try ?
3. i want to be able to use my note 3 on straight talk service, i looked at the APN settings and its greyed out, so i cant add any APN's to the list, can this be done with a new rom?
4. how can i tell if my note 3 is locked ? my wife has a galaxy s5 through a different carrier named Appalachian Wireless and i took her sim card out and put it in my phone and made a call to our home phone and
her number was shown on the caller id, so i know i can use sim cards from that company, but what about straight talk?
any help with these questions would be great, thanks in advance

Because this is the Verizon version. The bootloader is locked and can not be unlocked.
As far as I can find...there is no root method for the Verizon Note 4 or Note 5.
Sent from my Note 3 via Tapatalk
Root is over for this device. If you buy this version of the Note with 4.4.4 & up you will lose any ability to root, permanently. If it's that important to you search on Swappa or Fleabay for a model that has 4.4.2 or lower OS.
There really should be a sticky note with this headline as it seems this question keeps getting asked. I think some hope the more the question gets asked, sooner or later the answer will change.
im on nc4 (4.4.2)
i didnt know there was a android 5 out.
if i want to manually update from 4.4.2 rooted to 4.4.4 where do i get the verizon 4.4.4 tar at?

You can use wondershare mobilego to root the phone. The software has one-click root. This is the easiest way however the software also install a lot adds on your phone.
If you want to do the clean manual route...
1.You need to downgrade your phone to Kit-kat 4.4.2 NB1/NC1 .
2. Use towel root to root the phone.
3. Install safestrap or flash fire.
4. Flash the desire Lollipop rom via safestrap or flashfire.
You can find all the instruction and files in this post.
question after downgrading can i upgrade back to 5.0.1 or do i have to use a custom rom ?

Don't know much about magisk on i-337. . I am not sure whether you need a unlocked bootloader to use magisk. I saw magisk on zenfone 2 though. Then again zenfone 2 bootloader can be unlocked. All the i377 BL are locked. Only the initial one (ADB, MDL) could be exploitable (not unlock).

Then you better be on T-mobile
Most smart phone make for US came with locked bootloaders.
To avoid that I bought international version. The problem with international phone on ATT network is that you can not get 4GLTE signal for mobile data. You can get either 3G or 4G based on your phone. ATT told me that only phone make for ATT network could get the 4GLTE signal.
I heard international phone can get 4GLTE signal on T-mobile network.
