Hi there,
I'm using CM 12.1, 20150817 version. It's working well, apart from one really annoying thing:
My wifi will not reconnect to networks. Or at least most of the time.
If I set up a new network, it all goes very well, but as soon as I'm out of reach and come back in reach, something goes wrong. My phone sees the wifi network, but doesn't connect. It's in the list of available networks, but just doesn't connect at all. If I manually tell it to connect, nothing happens. The only way to get wifi data again is to tell my phone to forget the network and hook up to it again.
It's not just my home network. It also happens with the work network.
I told it to not avoid bad connections, so that can't be it, besides, the connection is typically very good. Other devices hook up without problems.
Any clues as to what could be going wrong here and how to fix it? My mobile data is going through the roof because of this.
Another thing, less annoying, but probably quite important to the developers is this odd phenomenon:
I traveled to China recently (from Holland) and after I arrived, I set the timezone manually to Chinese time zone. After doing that, time is in sync with local time.
After I did a reset, the phone's clock had shifted on hour back. The local time was off by one hour, and so was the time my phone showed for my home timezone.
I had to manually set the time to the right time, for things to be normal again.
Same happened on the way back, but the other way around. After a reset, the phone's clock was suddenly an hour ahead.
One other thing; somewhere in the last update I managed to loose root privileges. How do I get it back? I would like to give some apps root access.
Cheers,
Menno

Hey, Im not too sure about the Time changing problem, but I've found on CM12 that Root Access is disabled by default.
You need to open Developer Settings, Root Access; then change the setting accordingly.
Hope that helps

Are you running a Lollipop modem? If not, flash a Lollipop modem.

Hi Lenny,
OK, thanks, but how do I find out if I'm running the right modem?
Or where does one find the right modem? I just flashed the files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lop/exclusive-antaresone-alucard24-s-t3066696 , using TWRP. I came from the previous version 12.0, but my OTA update had failed, so I did a clean install.
I'm assuming the correct modem would be in the zips?
If not, where can I find it?

Oh, go into About Phone, then find Build Number.
You have to tap at this button 7 times in quick succession and it should enable the Developer Settings back in the settings menu.
Be careful messing around in Developer Settings though, some options in here are harmless, but others can really screw with your Android

Hi,
There's one thing that bothers me in every ROM out there and even on my own. I don't have an unlimited data plan and I hate the fact that I have pull my SIM card every time I want to try a new ROM. The problem is that if I don't, I'll be charged for access cause every ROM has the mobile connection enabled by default.
I can't find any setting anywhere in the ROM files to change this behavior... Maybe I overlooked? Does anyone if it can be done and how?

AFAIK you can just press menu when you're in setup and then choose to edit APN. Go to your APN and just put a random letter somewhere in the address to prevent it from working.
At least it's possible doing that using a vanilla ROM, not sure about sense
IIRC, during setup it asks if you want to connect through mobile network & wifi or wifi only. Just select Wifi only.

Exactly, "during setup" and not at startup. It always connects through before I can select "wifi only".

Indeed. The setting is initially set to Mobile Network & Wi-Fi, until you change it in the setup wizard or settings. It's really annoying for people with no data-plan.
You could remove the APN list from your ROM to prevent it. Also, there are a few XML files with default settings. If you are lucky, it contains the Data Connection settings, and you can change it.

Maybe for you and your country network operators. It's not about the data downloaded or the time it takes for me to disconnect it. As soon as it makes a connection, I'm charged a fee.
just hold the END button and chosse turn mobile network off?
Yeah, this is a problem for me. ROMs never used to do this so it wasn't a problem, but recent ROMs have started connecting as soon as I first turn them on, which costs me 99¢ each time.
(The pricing is: 99¢ per day for 50MB, and anything extra is charged per KB)
I've lost a couple of euro to this. It's not a big deal, but it's a pain alright.

Hey everyone,
After installing Android (THIS VERSION), I can't use data connection. I can use wifi, and that works perfect, I just can't utilize the data network. I set my APN correctly manually (checked it a thousand times). I can see the "G", "H", "3G" etc signs next to my signal-bar, so it looks like the phone DOES pick up that data connection can be used here. It just keeps giving me the same error saying there's a network failure. I'm quite new to all of this, so I may have forgotten to do something that would be considered standard by everyone here. Do I perhaps need to set my internet settings in the WinMo first?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

its hard to say what the problem is since u double checked the apn settings
sometimes the culprit is the kernel....but if others running the rom have no problems.....
you might have more luck posting this question in thread of the Rom u flashed.

He's on an SD ROM and is therefore unable to do this. At least, the ROM is SD and he mentions the settings in WinMo.
I changed ROM's and I cant get data back. Ive tried multiple and its a no go. I NEED my data. What do I do? Ive checked my APN settings....help!!!
what network are you on?
have you tried deleting all other APN's except the one you need?
Do you have signal at all / are you connected to the phone network and able to take / receive calls? or is nothing working?

I just deleted the other "ATT" apn that was there. Currently only have the ST one selected and present.
I have "H+" in the notification pane and its "blue" meaning what i thought was "active data". But nothing

has the data worked at any point before?
This is the problem that lots of people over in this thread are having ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2084706&
We are hoping for some sort of fix to this in 4.2.2, but until then we haven't been able to find a solution. If you are 100% certain the APN settings are correct (I can't help with that as from UK so not familiar with that network) then there isn't much you can do. For me, the only thing I ever find that sometimes brings it back is if I turn airplane mode on, leave it for 30 seconds then turn it off again. Likewise, you can click on the APN to reset that each time.
If you are rooted, Faux released a modified kernal which is meant to improve data drops and the wake issue which some nexus's have.

did you cut your own micro sim?
try a spare sim if you have one.
Reset APN to default, delete all and try again.
I don't know what else to suggest other than the above / phoning google / rooting and trying a different kernal and ROM / wait for 4.2.2 update.
(In the meantime please post in the thread linked above, no need for this duplicate thread just for your issue )

Which ROM were you on when you first noticed the problem?
Ok before I begin with this thread I'd like to say although I'm a new user, I have been on XDA for quite some time. My old account information has been lost.
Basically, my WiFi on my SGS4 I9505 is working when I'm at home, but I can't connect to the one at work. It used to work flawlessly, connected without me clicking the buttons, but now it says "Connecting" then straight back to "Saved"
What have I tried?
- New roms, different Android releases
- Searching forums
- Completely re-flashing the stock firmware via Odin
- Multiple modems via Odin
No matter what I do, I can connect at my home modem but not my work one, all of my work colleges are connected, I've had my friend try connect it (he was the man who introduced me to flashing ect) and he hasn't a clue.
Any advice would be appreciated & the reason I'm creating an entirely new thread is due to the fact my WiFi works at home so it's not just a bug there. Thanks.

Same exact thing happening to my S4 SPH-L720 (Sprint). Using NegaliteROM 4.4
Tried:
-Re-flashing ROM
-Updating PRL & Profile
-"Forget Network" and re-typed password (confirmed with IT dept password hasn't changed)
- Cleared google account ("Backup and reset" portion) then re-synced after failed login.
And as irscotty stated, wifi works EVERYWHERE else and it just goes straight to "Saved Secured"
Is there a way to reflash the Wifi card to an older Firmware? I don't recall updating it manually, and I believe that is the only way to update it (correct me if i'm wrong). If so, is this even advisable....
Thanks
The only other thing I can think is perhaps the contract provider has cut down the WiFi limitations?
Not sure if that's even possible but every other modem I connect to is just a few feet away, the one at work is perhaps 5-8 metres. But was working 100% prior to this, and the signal strength is saying "Strong" just wont connect

Yeah I'm literally 1 yard away from the router. What do you mean by cutting down on limitations? Blocking the amount of mac id's from the router homepage ?
No it has been known in the past for your data providers to cut down your WiFi range to force you into using their data, as opposed to WiFi.
Although to my knowledge, this can only be done through an OTA update on the original software (not custom)
My current solution to this is by changing my Mac address and have successfully logged back in. Seems like was I indeed being blocked. But have no confirmation yet. I use a program called MacChanger (requires root) and hard change my ID when I'm at work. Has been working for a few days now.
Good luck

Going to try this when I'm at work next, will let you know. Thanks
Hi all,
Greetings I'm new here. Just found this XDA forum last night. What happened was:
a. I have a G7 XT1955-4 and it suddenly has no signal. The sim can be detected, though. It's showing StarHub (I'm in Singapore) and my number.
b. IMEI looks fine, too, but noticed that it's showing Radio Off. Can't be turned on even though using *#*#426#*#*.
c. I read this forum and after many tries, I managed to fastboot using https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/ocean/official/RETAPAC/ (I chose XT1955-4_OCEAN_RETAPAC_10_QPOS30).
d. Other version such RETAPAC 9 or RETAIL 9 and 10 didn't work.
e. However, after fastbooting using the version on point #c (it can load and I configured it just like a first time setup after factory reset), the problem persists. Still no signal and showing Radio Off. What can be done here?
Note:
I'm no programmer and I just managed to get it work by trial and error.
Is Ocean same as River? Either way there is also a setting unset settings, network @ internet, mobile network, preferred network type, make sure that's right, sometimes rocking the settings will fix it. Except your is showing radio off , is a g7 retail ocean? I have not reinstalled stock in years, so I can't remember, but you know a g7 is "river" though, right?

Sorry, I'm not sure if I understand the question, but I seem to see it somewhere on the phone that it's Retail Ocean. Upon further investigation, I start wondering if it's actually a hardware problem...
Sorry was too early and messed up with auto correct, something I found that helps is, playing with settings, found in, settings, network & internet, mobile network, preferred network type(LTE CDMA and so on), make sure that's right, sometimes rocking the settings will fix it. Also there is an APN setting, make sure your carrier is right. Also there is airplane mode and data mode, make sure airplane mode is off, make sure data is on. On custom Rom the worst case Is like getting g3 instead of 4g or 4g instead of volte, a setting I have seen that will keep a phone from connection properly is APN, make sure. If its not one of the above I have never seen it. Have you tried installing a custom ROM with success? Also Motorola now has program, forgot what its called, it'll reflash a stock phone, haven't used it in a while but it'll probably automatically download the correct firmware, maybe it is called moto helper?, also Sim cards can go bad, my g7 has been threw 2-3 already.
