S5 (G900H) - India - Some concerns - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have just ordered an S5 (G900H model) in India. Got it at less than half its original price from Flipkart. I decided to go with S5 for its SD card support and replaceable battery both of which I hugely enjoyed in my old S2. I know the support for Exynos based S5 is quite limited here. But, unfortunately, this is the only model we get here in India. I got couple of questions.
1) Can my Indian friends tell me if rooting voids warranty for S5 in India? I just like to gain root and remain stock only to be able to use AdAway, TiBu, and debloating some Samsung junk unless I am able to see a very stable stock custom ROM here (still searching)
2) Does rooting trip Knox as in S6? If I unroot and flash the stock firmware will the service center people have any ways of knowing I had rooted it ever?
3) What is the experience of those who upgraded to lollipop in terms of both stability and battery use? Is it really worth it or should I just wait for 5.1.1 upgrades (if at all that is coming) or M?
Thank you.

Need some input and advice regarding Galaxy S5 LTE-A (Prime)

Hello
I have an opportunity to purchase a Galaxy S5 LTE-A. I have been considering it but was wondering if I can root it and then put custom ROMS on it. The device comes unlocked from factory but don't know if the bootloader is unlocked as well.
I know that most of the ROMS here are for the standard Galaxy S5 and the internals for the "Prime" are a bit different.
Would custom ROMS work with the "Prime?"
I also want to know the same. The problem is that not many will be have the phone to test so we will probably not get an answer to his.
Yea. Also I'm wondering if Nova launcher prime works and if zooper widget works with 4.4 kit Kat
yes to all of those questions.

New to Samsung

I have been a Sony user since 2011 and never tried other brands but now I switched to Galaxy S5 and I'm kinda feel noob now
The model number is "SM-G900F" and I noticed that there are other Galaxy S5 aside from this.
Is the CM12 on official nightlies "klte" is the same for all? or is there a specific baseband for each. I wanna try some kernel and AOSP based rom.
By the way my phone is still on 4.4.2. Ive heard there is 4.4.4 and 5.0.
Im used to doing modding on sony locking unlocking first bootloader before flashing kernel then flash rom. Is there a big difference when it comes to samsung? particularly Galaxy S5
First......DO NOT allow your phone to update to 5.0.0........It REALLY screws things up......
Second......research KNOX as this will have a direct bearing on whether you decide to go the whole custom route or simply just root, debloat, and customise your stock firmware.........

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active on 4.4.2

Hello,
I recently bought an S5 Active off of Ebay and I'm using the bring your own phone plan on cricket wireless. Currently my phone is on 4.4.2 kit kat, and I know that lollipop has been released for a while, but my phone tells me that it is up to date. Is there any way I can update? I'm completely new to the world of ROMS and all this other stuff, so any help would be appreciated!
I asked this question on toms hardware and got a response saying
"definitely do not upgrade your phone over the air if you have 4.4.2 and it is a galaxy s5.
s5's that are on 4.4.2 kitkat are not bootloader locked and are highly desireable in aftermarket sale. your best bet if you "want" lollipop is to root and do a custom rom like cyanogen 12/13. i think there is even a 6.0 marshmellow rom too.
otherwise if you upgrade to stock over the air 5.0+ you will be bootloader locked, unable to ever revert back to kitkat, and unable to root and do a custom rom. 9 months later and nobody has cracked the bootloader and at this point it is likely nobody ever will with 6.0 marshmellow around the corner.
because of that your phone is probably worth $50-100 more than a 5.0+ s5 for that reason... there are those out there that would love to get their hands on your phone and root it and will pay more since you are still on kitkat and fully unlocked."
Honestly, I have no idea what that means so if anybody could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!

G900F or G901F

Hi there,
I have a Moto X 2013 and feels like time to change it. I went through all possible variations to have a newer and rootable phone with decent developer support.
I wanted to have a G870F S5 Active, but they are hugely overpriced if available, so came to the decision that the S5 will do.
So, the question is: G900F or 901F. I know the differences, and really would love the S5 Plus... but the S5 is much more "developer supported".
Anyone tested both? Does it worth to go for the S5 Plus even if there is only minor development going on for that?
Thanks for any experiences!
well, as long as you can root it and put TWRP on it, you can flash pretty much any ROM that was built for the snapdragon processor on your phone, just dont Odin flash anything that wasnt built for your phone.

Rooting the S8, Installing a custom Recovery, etc.

Hello guys and gals. I want too root my Samsung Galaxy S8 (T-Mobile) and install TWRP on it, so that I can flash a custom rom. I have however read very negative things about people trying to modify their S8 devices and I am not sure it is as easy or safe as modifying my previous phone (The Nexus 6). I want to ask if it is currently safe, and if so, some reliable links to what I am looking for. Thanks.
You can't root the tmo s8 since it has a locked bootloader, you need the exynos s8.
