Intro:
For many years I used to use 1 DIN headunit connected via BT with my android phone. Phone was nicely mounted in bracket hard fixed to the dashboard.
So, I was getting into the car, putting phone into the bracket, starting the car and phone was connecting BT with headunit automatically. Could do phone calls, playing music etc. in 10 secs. Done, finished. No extra configuration, setting up, pressing buttons...
If I needed to use Google Maps, I had to use the phone screen, but it was ok with me, just two clicks.
But... I've upgraded my car and I have to redo my car-audio-phone connectivity
And now..
I'm browsing the market of 2din android based headunits (HU) for a couple years now. They are getting better and better, having more and functions (too many?) etc. Are they not to complicated in daily using? I seen many YT videos where people showing many options of their HUs, but there is completely nothing about daily using.
I'm thinking to purchase one of the latest Joying 2DIN HU and connect it to my android phone via BT, but "The more I know, the more I know I don't know"
That should cover my phone calls and music needs, however I have some doubts I cannot find answers to:
1. Does HU will connect to my phone every time by itself (BT) once paired?
2. How do you Guys, use Google Maps? Screen-mirror (via wifi using phone's "external display" option) or preinstalled in HU Google Maps app?
If phone's mirror, can it be turn on by itself automatically to see my phone app on HU screen without getting into phone's settings?
If preinstalled app, how HU can connects to my Google account? Does it mean I need to buy extra SIM card? Or it can use my phone's data, if so, does it mean I have to go into phone's settings and create a hotspot?
3. DVR, again, does it can be turned on once HU is up by itself, or do I have to turn it on by myself? I hope it has the time loop feature like proper DVR cams do?
4. Parking camera, does it turn the camera on (and screen) once I put R gear on?
Does the latest headunits can be driver friendly or it's still to early and I expect too much?

1. Yes, it does. It does not show contact names (only numbers) right after start, but they appear after 1st call
2. I can not see any reason using screen mirror (or Android auto) on HU with Android 6+ - PlayMarket apps are almost all yours on HU. My Google account is accessible via WiFi hot spot (USB dongle (auto) or Phone - you have to start hotspot on it), I can pay for apps from HU.
3. Joying DVR does start automatically. It has some issues making additional files until GPS locks, but anyway "ends" still can be put together. One drawback - J.DVR only uses 20Gb on max allowed 32Gb card - too bad.
4. Reversing camera works properly if connected properly, everything is on screen when R gear is on, including dynamic parking lines.

4. i can not seem to change the boot logo to a personalized upload

5 - cannot find accessibility settings to approved some apps like maps navigation or any app required to accept service (error service google play)
6 - brightness app is always automatic at boot (even if I untick auto)
I'm starting to think it's a bad deal

me too ... i am sorry to hear you are having the same issues ... i do feel if i could access the factory settings i could probably fix most issues
is your unit also xonrich?
i was wondering if it is possible to flash 7.1 software on to the unit as it is so so much better to use
the manual they send does not match the 8.1 software it is for 7.1 as ive had both units maybe if we could lay our hands on an 8.1 based manual this would help ?

I am sorry to hear your issues . Maybe this brand unit is not ready for Android 8.1. I am owning ATOTO A6 Pro. It works great even though it is Android 6.0.

I also own an Xonrich unit and the only problem I have is that when the radio tuner is working, the audios of other applications, for example radar announcers, do not sound, but if I turn off the tuner or put another audio source, including internet radio, TuneIn for example, these radar announcements are perfectly heard. The only thing they don't hear is with the radio tuner working.
I could not find the appropriate configuration to achieve it.

Hi.
I also have some issues with the time on the unit being one hour fast, but after it's been on for a minute or two and GPS is fixed the time changes to the correct time.
Where did you buy your canbus for the unit? I have a Volvo V70 '04 which I want the steering wheel buttons to work with.
I'm also having trouble with the Bluetooth option missing in the settings list. Its only possible to pair the unit with Bluetooth trough the phone pair function on the unit. I really want to pair my OBD2 adapter to my unit but am unable to do so when there is no Bluetooth menu.
Is there a possible way to add this function to the unit trough a software upgrade or such?

i have some issues with a 10.25" Android Navigation display i bought.
i also did some chat with the sellers but it seems their english is not very good...
From what i saw the system is the same PX6 System 2GB ram /32GB flash as sold for all other E Series BMW cars, only the additional mount is different.
Unfortunately i can`t attach pictures or extranal links yet, so i`m writing the Android spec here.

1st "issue".
when booting the device it does display the Lockscreen, not directly the BMW GUI, i have to swipe to unlock the screen.
any way to change this to go directly into the GUI?
I haven`t found an option yet.
2nd. issue.
Bluetooth does not work like it`s meant to from an Android Device.
there is only a bluetooth menu at the BMW GUI, where i can search for Bluetooth devices and connect them.
the problem is now, it only does find other mobile phones, it does not find the original CIC, not a BT headset, also not a BT mouse or BT keyboard.
when i go to to normal android settings "connected devices" i don`t have an bluetooth option here.
the BMW configuration has set "WenqiangBC6" BT Module enabled.
I want to use an additional Tsumbay Ai01 controller, but i also can not connect this device.
is it possible to reenable the original Bluetooth option there, i think it only has been disabled ?
3rd issue.
It has been delivered with an additional "pseudo" Idrive controller that is directly connected to the Android screen.
the problem is, that the controller will always only work for about 30-60 seconds, then it will not respond anymore, i have to reconnect the controller to get it work for again 30-60 seconds.
does someone also has this controller and had such trouble , or a fix for this ?
4th "issue".
I`m using google maps as i lost the Igo Software because a "factory reset" has been made.
when doing navigation, half of the screen is consumed by grey (bottom) or green (top) surfaces including the Status bar.
is there any chance to change the visuals of google maps to look like Android Auto or at least to make the bars smaller oder disable automatically disable the status bar ?
i have found no option for this, also not for scaling, probably it`s also disabled ?
5th "issue".
the harness does have alot of "CAN" connectors, "CAN A" "CAN B" "CAN C" "CAN 1" "CAN 2".
there did came no description whith the device, does someone have a description of the harness ?
i already updated the cartype.xml and factory.xml to get ID6 back, but that does not help for the other issues.
i hope someone can help me at least with some of the issues

I was able to "solve" the 3rd issue, when the Android navigation is set between Car and original CIC-HU, the original CIC controller does work fine so the pseudo controller isn`t needed anymore
The only thing is that i found a new issue,
7th issue,
the Aux Autoswitch option does go to the wrong menu point.
so when selecting "Music" it does not switch to AUX.

I had the same exact issues like chris i did a factory reset and eventually i lost everything i did something wrong and now i have the unit is infinite loading on android and it’s not turning on. I am wondering if someone can help me with this and by the way the factory reset code is 1314
Has anyone solved the bluetooth problem? I just want to load normal android on it to be honest. Their audio bluetooth and phone stuff is taking control somehow. I don't even care for it.

meanwhile it`s a known common thing that Bluetooth is locked on this devices so only smartphones for playing music and do handsfree calling is possible, it is not possible to add other bluetooth devices like OBD dongles, mouse, keyboard ect.

Just got a 2020 Subaru Outback. When I connect my Essential with USB cable, nothing happens (other than charging). Works fine on my wife's '19 Nissan Rogue.
Also connected my wife's Samsung Galaxy S8 to Subaru, no problems - Android Auto popped up right-a-way.
Any '20 Subaru Outback, Legacy owners here?

Have you looked under your notifications to see if the USB options are set to charging only? I've never used Android Auto but I know I have to set it to File Transfer every time I plug my phones into my computer, otherwise it only charges.
I had the same issue, but by connecting a unpowered USB hub it should work. I know it sounds stupid, but give it a try.
@levpri I've got a Crosstrek and I was having similar issues. When I got the car I'd found a thread that mentioned a bunch of working and not working USB A to C cables. I ended up getting a couple of these cables and I've not had a problem since.

I use AA on my outback /18 without issues got a new phone that was on android 10 now my AA not longer works, it connects I get my maps but it won't take any voice commands from the steering wheel.
not sure if it's my LG phone or that it's because it's on Android 10 I may try my old samsung phone set it back up tomorrow just to test.

I'm having the same issue. I have a new Subaru Outback 2020. My Samsung S8 connected with AA with no problems. I just got a new Samsung Note 20 5G, running Android 10. Now Android Auto is not launching the map. I get voice driving instructions but no map. I see on my phone, a notification saying the phone is connecting to AA, but it eventually goes away and still no map showing on the head unit. I've tried several different USB-C to USB-A cables and none of them help with this issue. Google markets they've improved AA access by combining it with the Android operating system. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have done sufficient testing with this change. Typical of software giants sending out updates without full testing and ensuring it's functional.
GOOGLE: Get your act together! This is a serious issue. AA is supposed to aid drivers and the map on the head unit stops individuals looking at their phone. Well, you've just increased the chance of a crash now. It won't surprise me if GOOGLE gets sued for someone's death.
If anyone finds an update or resolution to this problem, PLEASE post the fix!!!
PS: We should not have to go through this ridiculous back and forth just to link Android Auto from our phone to our car. This is the 21st century, is it not? We send people to the moon, have smart(?) applicances, and even self-driving cars. Surely, we should be able to get a simple mapping system to show up on a car head unit!
Have you gone into your Android auto settings by any chance? It's an integrated app now so there's no icon for it in Android 10 (depending on phone).
You should be able to easily find it by using the search bar in the app drawer on a Samsung and it will find it in settings. Search key words "Android Auto".
I have both an Essential and Samsung Note9. My Essential phone still has the actual app on stock. I have had more trouble with Essential connecting to AA.
If you haven't tried anything in settings, you could look there and forget all cars to clean it up and start fresh. You could enable developer settings similar to actual Android and try things in those settings. You'll be able to change/set:
> Application Mode (Developer gives AA Server)
>Add wireless projection to settings
>Clear all data
>Unknown Sources
>Debug options
>Video Resolution
>And more...

I started receiving the same "Launching error.. check clock or upgrade google play services" error all of a sudden while I was on a road trip on 2020 subaru outback.
I noticed the time in the display console was off by 1hr so it was definitely some clock issue so I manually tried to set it but still the android auto won't connect. I figured there was some Subaru software issue because when setting the daylight saving to AUTO it was not sowing the correct info, while previously there was no issue with AUTO settings.
Then I tried my wife's phone and same issue.
I tried different cables and same issue.
I tried factory reset of subaru console from settings but still the same issue.
Then I came across some other post and tried the android auto phone app downgrade approach but it didn't work either. With lower phone app version it was not supported to connect to the subaru outback so the phone app forced me to download and install updates again. And then the same issue.
Finally, I went to the service center and asked them to look into this. They checked and fixed the issue in 3-4 hrs. They verbally told me that they updated the head unit and that fixed the issue. And then in the inspection report they had exactly mentioned as below:
"Performed inspection of vehicle and was able to verify customer concern of vehicle not being able to access android auto or apple car play, found TSB 15-261-20R which has an available update for the stereo head unit. Will perform update to make sure latest software is installed. Apple car play is now working. Old software version was F11GHM042-380 new software version is F11GHM072-582"
This is as of 17th Dec 2021. Since then the android auto is working fine.
I am sharing this post so that in case nothing works for you, try showing this message to subaru service center guys to help you fix the issue.

I picked up a Hizpo 3C from Aliexpress for my Honda Accord. Seemed like a nice little package with the custom bezel etc.
I am having a few issues with it, the most annoying being the Bluetooth not working as I had to remove my factory Nav/Tech info screen to put this in and was replacing that with the BT OBD II scanner and running Torque Pro on the head unit.
In short it will connect to my phone via BT just fine, but it either can't find, or finds and won't connect to the OBD II scanner nor my Radar detector. (If anyone can help specifically with this I can go into the details)
The BT issue and the fact that I cannot change anything on the main screen. I tried running Nova Launcher and setting it to default but the head unit just changes it back to the factory crap. This led me to start looking on this forum for rooting / rom options.
So the name given on the sales ad page is Hizpo 3C, but from what I can tell from CPUz is that it is a "Roco K706". I have tried searching here and really anywhere on the internet and didn't find anything about these nor the build numbers. Attached are images from my CPUz that I am hoping you may be able to shed some light on what I am working with and what options I may have to trouble shoot and/or root to change launcher, uninstall the bloat apps etc.
I would also like some help with how I could go about ensuring there is no preinstalled spyware/malware etc. before I start adding more than just google play.
And an explanation on the "faked" android versions I see mine say 11, but has API 29 , and if I double tap the "Android 11" in setting it then brings up a full screen that only displays "Android 10" which I thought was funny.

Nope. Nope as you can see no replies here and after months of back and froth with the company they keep trying to have me do the same upgrade after I tell them its done. They say I can get a replacement but I have to send them EVERYTHING back to get another unit. Which now I don't think I want to do because you are moving closer to confirming my fears I would pay for that and get a new or refurb unit that will have the same problem. I am considering trying to return the whole thing for a refund.

1.Download the two firmware from the two link in your computer, they are <update.zip> and <MCU.bin> , please do not unzip them.
2.Copy the <update.zip> document into your Udisk root path. And copy the <MCU> document into your Udisk root path.
3.Connect your Udisk to our player, and then follow settings-general-system upgrade, and then it will upgrade itself, please do not cut the power during the upgrade. And the player will reboot itself. This step will take about 6 minutes.
4.When you finish upgrading the system, then follow settings-General-MCU Upgrade- select the upgrade file -Confirm, and it will upgrade itself. This step will take about 1 minute.
5.After upgrade all, we also need to activate the weather APK, please set your cellphone WiFi hotspot name as FYQP5QRG, and connect the player WiFi to your cellphone hotspot, and then it will activate the weather APK. When you are using an iPhone, please do not connect your iPhone Bluetooth to our player before you activate the weather APK, it is very important. After you activate the weather APK, you can connect your iPhone Bluetooth normally.
6.The MCU upgrade may lead to the touch screen and touch panel not working correctly, please use your five fingers to long touch the screen and go to calibration mode to adjust the touch screen. Not exactly related to the problems mentioned in this topic, but I bought a similar unit from Hizpo and one thing that drives me crazy is an annoying high-pitched noise coming from the speakers that makes my ears bleed. I ruled out all external factors (external interference, grounding issues etc.) and there seems to be no way to fix this. Do your units suffer from this as well or is mine just defective?

random question, I have a roco (k706) android 12 Api 31, I bought it 2 months ago and I was wondering if there are any updates, or who I contact to get them.
Currently I have:
Firmware: QF001.20220920.205721
MCU: QF01.V01.60.20220929.002121
Or it will be that before sending them they load the firmware and the newest MCU.
My problem is that when I connect the wifi it closes Android auto or Carplay and if I connect them again it disconnects me from the wifi.
And in case I need to activate Carletter, to whom do I have to send the QR to activate it again?

I bought this second-hand stereo from a car that was being sold for parts, do you think it would be possible that if I do the update and my carletter is deactivated, could you help me by sending my QR to activate it? I have to have the car connected to the internet while they do it I guess.

And does anyone know the password fpr the factory reset?? Its not the usual 0000,8888,123456 nor my google password.
Another problem: how can i connect the head unit to my PC to use ADB? The head unit has 2 USB-A connectors. I tried an USB-A to USB-A Cable without success. Also i can´t see the usb connection dialouge on the head unit because the status bar doesn´t show any notifications...
What i wanted to do with ADB: i want to use Nova Launcher on my head unit but it can´t access the OEM "apps" like FM radio or DSP. Tasker says it nees "permission.manage_activity_stacks" to start those apps. So i will try to give nova launcher this permission over ADB. Or does anyone have another suggestion to solve this problem?
