Adding new fonts? - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
When I used Galaxy S3 I got a folder from this forum full of fonts.
Today, using S6 edge+ I'm using the same apk's and it says something like "unable to apply, uninstall? "
I'm currently using HiFont from playstore, but has not too good fonts in my opinion.
Is there any other way to add new fonts for our smartphone? Or even converting .ttf to .apk?
Thanks in advance!

Try iFont from the Google Play Store. You get hundreds of fonts to choose from and they work well with Samsung phones. If you buy the donate version you get to install your own fonts stored on your phone too.

I agree. I use ifont and have no issues at all

I'm trying it right now. Seems there're no donating restrictions.
I'm trying a font from dafont.com unzipped under custom folder. I click on set on iFont. Installation progress success but when I try to choose it under fonts option in samsung settings, font does not appear.

I think it replaces 'default font' in the selection. You can change it back to original system font later if required.

If you search flip font in the app store and download any of them they will show in ur fonts in settings.

Fonts?

Anyone manage to install new fonts that don't suck via flashable zips or any other method?

Download an app called iFont. Horrible name but great app for applying fonts! Only way I've found to change fonts. You can even install fonts to the app that are locally on the device. Good luck!
Rom Tool Kit Lite or Pro works fantastic. I had no problem installing fonts on my ATT s4 running Liquid Smooth :thumbup:

Ya ROM tool box that's the one I forgot about thanks

Personally, I use Font Changer Lite [root]. Once installed, just find a .ttf file an put it in the .FontChanger folder on your sdcard, and it changes ALL fonts (statusbar, text messaging, system fonts, everything). If you want different fonts for specific apps or whatever, you can use the advanced option to specify. @martino2k6 is the creator, and all credit goes to him. I've been using this app since I got my Atrix 4G in 2011. Check it out.

Also, I know the following font packs thread is a bit dated, but there's a ton of them here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16163558
Personally, I love the Armani font. I've attached it below. If you want to try it out just drop the .txt from the end of the file.

I use Font Changer Lite too. Just make sure to only use TTF (TrueType) fonts and not OTF (OpenType) or you won't be able to boot.

Let's Get Active Display from Moto X Working!

The new active display feature form the Moto X looks like one of the best notification experiences on Android, and I want that. A Moto X dump was posted on Android Central forums the other day and I was able to identify the files that I believe go along with the active display, it is two APKs and two ODEXs. Both APKs fail to install and I'm not quite sure how ODEXs work(but I'm sure someone could explain). So othe files are called:
Code:
Aon.apk
Aon.odex
AonSettings.apk
AonSettings.odex
Let's get this working!
EDIT: Download the four files needed, instead of the whole dump.
Can you please extract the files, so that we don't have to download the complete dump.

Are you planning on making it standalone?
I would love to see this happen!
Has anyone tried these two APK? It does ask for a lot of permissions...

Just tried the 2 apks (with odex) in PAC (PA-CM10.1) and tried to launch it via Apex Activities (obviously it won't show up in Settings), and it doesn't even show up.
Not sure if it's because it's odexed, or what.
I didn't expected otherwise, though.

Appreciate trying it out. I wonder if the settings option would enable a flag for it run. Who knows. Probably a dream to have this running on any other device other than the moto x.

Can't install them you have to drop them into /system
I also tried to push the two apks and the .odex files to system, but unfortunately my moto defy with cm10.2 get problems with them. First the systemUI stops working and after a reboot the phone gets into infinit boot loop.
(And yes I know a Motorola Defy does not have a AMOLED screen so it would be counterproductive for battery saving)
I'm going to deodex the apks and upload them later today and it would be great if someone can test it.

MotoX Active Display still looks sexier. But, i respect that developer. They did it pretty fast.
doesnt it need moto framework like motoblur?
+1 that moto active display looks sexier.
Here deodexed versions of the apks.
Download. Push to system folder and give permissions 644
Aon.apk -> http://www.multiupload.nl/9RS01TH8VE
AonSettings.apk -> http://www.multiupload.nl/FHOH9YVVWS
But watch out. My moto defy gets infinite bootloops even with this versions.

Maybe someone with a blur ROM (at least android 4.2, the Aon.apk gives parsing error on older android versions) can test. Even on other roms testing is needed.

How do I invoke or run the apk from the phone? I'm on a Telus i747m with CM10.1 latest nightly 07/08 and the apks sit there. I would have to look at how to decompile the settings.apk hopefully to find out how they launch the AonSettings.apk.

Did you try to launch jt as an activity from a custom launcher? But I think the best way to do it is indeed modding your settings.apk (I'll try it later and share de results)

I couldn't find the activity from Nova Launcher. However, I'll try using 'aapt' tonight to see if I can list the actions and I'm assuming I should be able to launch it from 'am' in terminal emulator.
Anyone managed to gei it installed? I pushed the apk, set the permissions but not even an bootloop happened. Ideas?

How can I change my system font to Roboto Light?

If I need to root, that's fine. Is there an app in the Play store that will do this? I see quite a few Font Installer apps, but I know that not all of them work correctly on different phones and OEM rom's.
On my Nexus 4 I had a Roboto Light zip file that just told the system to use Roboto Light (as opposed to actually overwriting fonts). Can the same method be used on this phone?
Thanks!

I use Font installer by JRummy. Has tons of fonts to choose from. Have to be rooted. The weird thing about it is, that when you find a font u like, and install it, the phone will reboot, and the font will look the same as it was. You have to go into settings/display/font type, and if u look at roboto, it changes that one to the one u installed. Just choose roboto, and it will be the font u downloaded with the app....
Great, thanks! Is there an easy way to undo this if I want?

[Q] Galaxy s4 clear default issue

I'm new to the forum and I've searched for a while Google and not.. No find but I changed my launcher to nova Launcher and about a few days into it every about 5 minutes it clears the default launcher and it would continue to ask me which launcher to use between nova and touchwiz. Anyone know some kind of solution or somewhere in the settings? I've explored the settings a few times and couldn't find anything. I personally hate the stock launcher. Thanks guys.
When the system ask u btw what Launcher u wanna use... Select the one prefered and click in ALWAYS button and u will have this one for everyday :highfive:

Yeah.. Sadly I'm always clicking always when I prefer the nova Launcher. I've set my nova Launcher as the home screen about a hundred times a day and that's while setting it as my default launcher.
I'd you have saved the nova lunch er to the SD card from the applications menu it will do that. You have to keep it in the main memory

Nope. Absolutely nothing. Its in the phones internal memory and still asks what launcher to be default and I continue picking nova Launcher and it would still come back up asking when I press the home button

I know the issue has nothing to do with the actual launcher because I uninsulated nova Launcher and it would come out even with the touchwiz stock launcher

Here cfautoroot by Chainfire worked for me (i9500). Just consider it because maybe it is difficult to read in there:
1) Use the same Odin version included in the cfautoroot .rar file (it is, Odin 1.85, it is important, instead of 3.0x which is used to flash ROMs)
2) If you have a 4.3 ROM, after flashing cfautoroot and reboot, DON'T touch anything, just go to Google Play, search for "Supersu", install it or update it, open it and follow its instructions to install/update binaries (when prompt select "normal" installation instead "custom Recovery" installation.

I had sent you my latest backup file for nova launcher from my S4 I9500.in this setting home button toggles instantly both launchers, nova prime and touchwiz.
Now I am telling how you configure your nova launcher for that. In nova settings _ set default home to nova launcher then open the gesture and buttons - home button-shortcut-activities- touchwiz home - touchwiz home.
