I recently replaced my charging port as it stopped charging recently without bending the charger when laying to make it charge.. When i turn on the phone the loudspeaker no longer works, and i cant see why it shouldnt. Yesterday i recieved a new speaker in the mail, in case it somehow got damaged in the first replacement, tried that one, same issue..
I tried cleaning the contact points on the board the speaker has its contact on, but same result. Is there a service code or something i could try to enter, or any suggestions what other things to try?
All ebay purchases and the phone itself should be G900F model. The front facing speaker works
Running latest nightly CM12
Tried flashing a stock ROM?
Tried that now, no help.. Seems like the new chargerboard ribboncable may be damaged, as they both state F, guess thats for G900F, and tried the old board withj just holding the speaker in place, and the sound worked. New 3m tape is really necesarry when replacing parts in this phone, my screen barely sits in place now!

Hi all... This is my first post and and just want to say what a great community... Thanks...
Now for my problem. I have spent a lot of time reading posts and trying to solve my problems and haven't found anything that relates to what I am experiencing so hopefully someone might be able to help me out. It's a fairly long story but I'll try to give you the quick version.
I bought a new Softbank X01HT from an ebay seller. The phone arrived and when I tried use it all I would get was a bright white screen. I tried emailing the seller and got no response. (They sell several phones every day so I don't think he deliberately ripped me off, I just got a dud and the seller is too lazy to reply to emails).
I opened up the phone and investigated, my brother has an I-Mate branded version of the hermes so we swapped parts around and decided that the LCD/front ribbon cable was causing my problem. I ordered a new cable from cnn.cn. When it arrived I fitted it and thankfully the phone came to life. I did all the usual mods then, updated the ROM etc etc.
When I got it all back together the front earpiece was working but only very very quietly, I could hardly hear the person on the other end. The speakerphone works fine though. I tried hard reseting and even flashing a different ROM but this didn't help. So I opened the phone up again, thinking that I hadn't seated the earpiece properly. This time when I started it up again I got absolutely nothing from the earpiece. I also found that the front camera just doesn't work. I tried my swapping back the original ribbon cable, although I couldn't see what was going on I was still able to get someone to video call me, answer the call and still found the camera wasn't working, doing this I couldn't test the earpiece though.
I put the camera in my brothers hermes and it works just fine. We have swapped all parts around including main boards and they all interchange fine. I only strike a problem when I am using my camera with my main board. As for the earpiece we couldn't succesfully make it work in my brothers phone, but also couldn't make his earpiece work in my phone.
I have read the posts about the contacts on the earpiece, but trying this hasn't solved my problem. I guess there is a chance that the new ribbon cable I got is also faulty, but to have the same problem from two ribbon cables seems fairly unlikely. The speakerphone works fine and so does my bluetooth headset so I am fairly confident that it is not a software issue. I have used Black Satin ROM and now I have installed Schaps 3.6 (both nice ROMs btw)
Thanks to anyone who has spent the time to read this post, hopefully someone may be able to shed some light on it for me. I got the phone a fortnight ago and still haven't been able to use it properly and it's starting to drive me nuts.....
Thanks
Craig
One day when I plugged out my headphones from my phone it didn't seem to notice it. I couldn't get any sound from the speakers, and when I plugged the headphones back in nothing happend, like it didn't notice they were gone. I rebooted my phone several times and still no sound from the speaker. Even the radio (which you need headphones to use), works when I disconnect them (except no sound of course).
It's probably a software bug. Any ideas?
UPDATE: It seems to work now

I've been having headphone problems for a while, (it kept asking me what was plugged in with nothing plugged in). Up to now, it didn't hurt too much, but today it finally made my Omnia II unusable and I had to put my SIM in an old backup phone.
In the past, I've tried sticking a needle on the physical contact to "exercise" it, and putting some WD-40 and alcohol on it with a toothpick. Today, however, nothing worked. I ended up taking the phone apart, (since it was unusable I figured I had nothing to lose), and found that the headphone jack is a single component with a ribbon cable and connector to the main board. I found an online store selling this headphone part via Google and have ordered it, (I had to buy three as that was the minimum--if they work, I'm keeping them all as future replacements, sorry). I won't say what store because I don't know them or if this will fix the problem, but if they deliver and it works, I'll re-post with details. I really hope this fixes the problem because I've spent a *lot* of time and money getting this phone up to replacing my old Palm TX and was expecting it to be around for a few more years...no other mobile OS does what I want right now and I'm totally fine with the O2 hardware/software other than this bloody headphone issue.
I received my new headphone jacks yesterday and replaced the one on my phone. And...it works!
The new jacks are a different design. The "plug-in" sensor is at the top now and the whole thing is a lot tighter. Also, when I plug something in, (I tried headphones and a headset--not TV out), it no longer asks you what's plugged in. It seems to auto-sense the type of plug fine.
It's only day 1, but my phone is usable again. Yay!
The store I bought the jacks from is globaldirectparts.com. I had to buy three jacks, but it only ran about $20US. I'm keeping the others as spares in case this ever happens again as I plan to hold on to this phone for a few more years, (bought off contract).
After getting the back off and exposing the internals, I was able to just lift the top edge of the main boards with a popsicle stick use a small, flat screwdriver to unplug the old jack. I then slid the new jack in, made sure it was lined up, (it does this pretty much on it's own--not much wiggle room), and pushed down on the board until it "clicked" on.
Hello People,
All of a sudden i am facing a issue with my SGS i9000,
My phone turns the screen OFF when is start a call, Dialing is OK, and the screen goes blank when I hold the phone up to my ear. But at the end of the conversation the screen remains blank, Pressing any buttons wont turn the screen back ON.... after a min or so te screen comes back.. or even when i connect my phone to a charger it works....
what might be the issue? has anyone faced similar problems with their SGS?
I hope there is a solution for this, even the warranty is over for this phone.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Have you found a solution? I have the same issue, I don't know if this is a hardware or software problem. I got back to stock rom (froyo JPY) but that didn't solve the problem...
I had the exact same problem and symptoms as you two described a few months ago with my I9000m. So I got fed up and opened it up and found the ribbon cable connecting the speaker and proximity/light sensor partially torn which is why the speaker was working while the proximity/light sensor was not.
You can also try Z-DeviceTest from the market. There's a proximity/light sensor test.
If you've still got a warranty on the thing, I would take it back to shop and have them deal with it. If your warranty is out then you have to do what I did and buy the part and replace it myself.
Here's the good news though. The module itself is pretty cheap at least on ebay.com (search i9000 speaker parts).
I replaced the one on my I9000m and bought another one of these (one to use as spare) because those ribbon cables seem so flimsy (you'll see what I'm talking about if you actually open it up and see for yourself ).
Thanks! I don't have warranty so I've bought it on a Chinese website ~10$ with shipping costs
I have seen this a few times. What appeared to work for me was simply covering the proximity sensors again with my finger for a second, then uncovering again. I say "appeared" as the timing could be a coincidence - but it has happened maybe 3 or 4 times on my phone - and I waited it out the first time, and each of the other times I did the above and it came right back.
Heya guys, to make a long story short, bought an S8 on ebay, Verizon G950U, and was told the camera didnt work and there was no IMEI etc...
Upon checking, the front camera has a torn connector. I fiddled around with the daughter board where the antenna connectors etc.. are, (breaking the speaker and its entire cover in the process) and sometimes I randomly get cellular back, but it doesnt stay for long. i'm not sure whats faulty, but I'm certain it has nothing to do with the mainboard. The latest time the connection popped back was when I tried moving the back cover back on, I guess something must have clicked. I already reinforced the wires and the surrounding connectors, but I cannot get cellular at will. Would replacing the board in it's entirety be a fool proof solution? Hoping for help on the matter.
EDIT: Not sure if it was coincedental, but Also during one of the times the cellular service returned, it was immediately when I plugged my headphones into the device.

I had a note 5 that cellular issues because the quik plugs for the antennas wore out and it did a similar type thing Once I swapped mbs it worked like a dream
Hey guys I'm new here. A few weeks ago i happened to not notice that some liquid spilt on my phone while driving and i left it there like that for a while . then When i got a call and answered couldn't hear the other person. Then i noticed water on the fingerprint scanner as i had a spigen case and it had managed to get into my phone. I turned off my phone immediately and disconnected everything. Next morning i happened to removed the board and dry it out as i have done this many times before when i changed the thermal paste. The water damage indicator was red. After ensuring everything had dried out i put it back together and my phone powered back on and it charges well. But when i go to play an audio file. I get an error Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file. The audio recorder hangs and i camera app also works but when i switch to video it hangs. Phone has been reset to factory. Same issue. Sorry for the long story. Need some Help on what part to replace. Is it the mic and speaker that's busted or some component like the DAC. If so where is the Dac located and how can i go about fixing this. Any part websites you recommend I'm from India.
Any help is nice guys. Please
My first V20 was one I bought on ebay that had sound not working. Also the camera was not working. I though it would be an easy fix, well, hoped actually, but it was not. I didn't pay much for it so I though it was worth the risk. The problem you have sounds exactly the same. Software reset won't fix it.
I did get it to work though temporarily. I put the motherboard in the oven for 10 minutes. It worked for a few days only.
The problem is that the DAC chip is now faulty due to water damage I'd say. You need a new motherboard. I would suggest buying a new v20 and keep the old one for charging your spare battery on quick charge! Or you can buy a new motherboard only on alliexpress for about 50/60 euros.
Thank you. I did consider an industrial oven. Could you please help me with temps you used? Was it the same error you got while trying to play a track?
