Upgrading to Lollipop 5 Z3
Hi Guys,
I have just purchased the Z3, just wanna ask you guys about upgrading to Lollipop, are there any much more improvements or any bad exp on Android 5 ? About battery time, and other factors... I'm thinking about upgrading to 5 but I personally like the UI of 4
Thanks a lot

To me, lollipop is just fine. to see something different you should do benchmarks of the feature you want to compare.
for the update. just be sure to flash via PC companion... you'll be double sure everything is fine.
do a backup first because PC companion's flash erases the internal memory (all you user data)

Thanks for your reply,
I tried the upgrade through the Update Center of the Z3, but sometimes it displays as "pending network" so is this the reason you said about doing the upgrade by PC ?
Thanks

5.1.1 works just fine on my Z3, I don't know what all the fuss is about

Old new!?
People with non rooted phones do not surf around much in developer section
I'm running on Rooted KE8.. Rooted using CF Root with insecure kernel method (chainfire). Can I use Odin to flash the new firmware (on an already rooted phone), or will my phone get bricked. No worries about losing root; i'll just root it again once I update the firmware.
No update for me
No update for me here.
Kies still not detecting any new firmware. I am in KE8.
Why is that?
updated to new KF3;
Its more fluid then previous one ;
didn't noticed any other enhancement

[Q] Downgrade on N7100 ...

Hi there,
I need a hint.... I have a N7100, updated to firm 4.3 from 4.1.2, but I would like to go back to the previous firm version.
I know that there are several issues about it, but before the update to OS 4.3 I did the full backup with CWM on my external SD card. Basically, I should have everything backupped (I guess, including the EFS folder...), and I was wondering if it may be possible to do the step back in this way...
I have already rooted the mobile to install the last available version of ClockWorkMod (..so, Knox is now 0x1...as I had previously fully resetted the mobile status with Triangle Away, while it was running on 4.1.2), and I would really like to go back to the OS 4.1.2, get rid of the knos issue, and wait directly for the 4.4 (whenever it will arrive)
Is it possible?
Baseband: N7100XXUEMJ9
Build version: JSS15J.N7100XXUEMK9
Thanks in advance!
KK 4.4.2 is already leaked and therefore no reason to go back again. First custom rom is in successful testing and the official update not far away

Androidwizzard said it already. The official 4.4.X is not far away. You should live with 4.3 till the official 4.4.X arrives. It will be much better than 4.3
First thing you will encounter when downgrading is losing your IMEI,hence no service, and that's a pain in the arse to restore it back.

I totally agree with what Androidwizzard said that 4.4.2 is very smooth with even lower memory usage! Try it at least once and I believe you will love it at all!
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Gentlemen,
Thank you all.
Considering all the issues, I will keep the 4.3 till the new version arrives!
Thank you again!

You should try new DN3 Rom V4 beta...
Just like you, I wanted to switch back to 4.1.2, for battery life and stability because none of 15-20 custom roms on 4.3 that I've tried fit my criteria.
So, I thought I'll try a new beta version of DN3 rom, just to see what's new...
Visually, not much has changed, just a bit faster and smother... Since this was the beta version, I knew I'll have to flash the final release pretty soon, so I started to mess with the rom, deleting unwanted stuff like (Samsung apps, account sync, S pen futures that I don't use, google packages that always run in the backgroung tracking locations etc...) Removed 50+ bloatware/system apps using 2 different tutorial that I found here on XDA...
I was expecting the phone to die after all that, as there isn't much left on it Instead I got a huge improvement in battery life and performance. For the first time, the battery lasts two days! Ram usage is only 500-550MB as opposed to 1000-1.2GB average on previous DN3 builds. Left the phone with 51% woke up 7 hours later - still 51%. All the futures like screen mirroring and syncing with my google account are working flawlessly, no reboots, no FCs, everything seems to be very stable, I even did a full backup of this rom (which I never do unless the Rom 100% perfect)
I encourage to try it and you'll never miss 4.1.2

lollipop vs kitkat

am really tired, when i updated to lollipop program take alot of ram space and make some app to re open it again when i returned to it,not save it,so i returned to kitkat but the battery drain fast about 1% every minute.
that crazy so what to do? am not expected that from note 4.
advice plz with abuild version or area which work good,no matter kitkat ot lollipop.
thanks
I also returned back to Kitkat & after returning I reset my Note 4 (factory reset) , and every thing working fine
Lollipop is full with bugs so maybe my next update will be Android M when it will come, I believe Lollipop is a no go with a lot of bugs and issues even the coming 5.1.1

what is your product name and which baseband version u on ?
IR work with u?
my phone is N910H
My Note 4 n-910G is working good on lollipop. I'm on stock non-rooted 5.0.1 and i cant wait to get 5.1.1 (M would be heaven but i'm not holding my breath for it). Lollipop for me is quite fast and just tiny annoying bugs, nothing major. Kitkat 4.4.4 was blazing fast for me before. It's suffered a little after i flashed L but i wont go back now. I'm lucky i haven't got the battery issues i keep hearing about, or those lags/bugs. That would make me throw the phone across the room.
Here's to Samsung to give it's best flagship of late 2014, early 2015 Android M

Have you checked your camera pictures ???
Observe the viewfinder, the way everything looks, it will all show like some paint effect compared to the pictures that came sharp while on kitkat.
Please do compare pictures when on kitkat and after lollipop update.
I have created a new thread on it. Many have not observed their camera picture quality post update.
ok... now i'mma worried. will try it

Ok go back to lollipop and flash the 5.1.1 kuybi rom. It's fast and smooth. It's been debloated and is very good on battery life. It's much better then any of the other lollipop and kitkat. In fact I would go as far to say it's the best lollipop build here on xda for now.

HTCIR gone Android 6.0

Hi,
Working quite for sometimes on an APP ( not published for the moment ) to make your own remote control.
I started it first with Samsung GS4 and purchased last year the ONE M8 for its TRUE IR leaning capability ( love truly the device )
Now since the update to Android 6.0 ( I use T-MOBILE NL ) HTCIR blasting/learning is gone, the standard Android IR CONSUMER still working.
It's a pity and I have sent a message toHTC but doubt this will go anywhere.
I believe the problem is not the SDK (HTCIR.JAR) but the ROM / KERNEL somehow removed that feature.
My question being, is anyone aware of that issue. Not sure if there is any solution? anyone an idea? (rooting changing ROM etc..but what's the point) or the reason from HTC why this got removed ( voluntary or not )
I guess I will purchase a second hand HTC ONE M7 as I believe it will never receive Android 6 update and from what I believe it has learning capability like the M8 right ?
THANKS
If you are curious about the APP you can see this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290996
It is no longer upated but lot happened since in the APP and I really wanted to post the APP for HTC one user.
Here video on last version including learning capability when it worked fine/
I can confirm IR Recording is not working on MM. Tried several apps without success.
cant you just downgrade to lollipop ? or is that just a dumb idea.
Thanks for the answer and sorry for late reply.
About downgrading, yes this is what I will do, truly that learning capability was great and just don't understand why they removed ( if intentional ) this say I know IR start to go away even blaster IE Samsung EDGE 7. So only half surprised but when you compare the usefulness of a very un-precise HR monitor VS IR blaster/leaning IMO it does no make sense...
Now my HTC ONE M8 is from T-MOBILE NL and is not s-off.... So RUU is not possible AFAIK. So will have to ROOT it, this is no issue ( I did once) but not sure if I can flash IE HTC_One_M8_Lollipop_5.1_LMY47O.H9.zip (ORIGINAL from HTC) via TWRP without issues...I say this because when I got the HTC one M8 not knowing much about it I broke WIFI ( no longer switched on ) and T-MOBILE wad nice enough to replace the phone. So if anyone can confirm I can do this of course at my own risk...
Thanks

You don't need s-off to flash roms, only for ruu's
If you restore the nandroid from this thread you should be fine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

You mean WiFi didn't work after you flashed a custom ROM? If so, this is usually due to firmware (hboot, radio, etc.) being too old, such as KK firmware, and you flashed a LP ROM.
But going "back" such as the case of what you want to do (running a LP ROM with MM firmware) is usually not an issue. Meaning, the firmware is usually backwards compatible. And in fact, there doesn't seem to be much difference between LP and MM firmware; no reports of broken WiFi that I've seen, even going forwards.
In any case, do a TWRP backup of your current setup (as you always should before flashing a ROM), and you can easily revert if you flash a ROM and run into issues.
Many thanks for the reply.
Since I have ONE M8 T-MOBILE NL it is hard if not impossible to find the RUU and anyway no s-off.
So I will go with that nandroid backup busy right now with it.
The WIFI issue I had was back one year ago or so when I unlocked the boot, installed TWRP, routed the phone and installed a marshmallow ROM and kaboom... could not get wifi back so went to T-MOBILE NL and they changed the phone no question asked this was after only couple days I got it. Thsi chilled me to play with HTC and custom ROM ( I'm more familiar with Samsung )
The fact that HTC removed learning capability somehow demotivated me on my project though I have a server for my APP that uses USB-UIRT if I need learning capability. But for sure HTC ONE M8 for me at the time was the best and the difference with the other.
So I will revert / try that ROM so to have truly universal remote control and be again motivated
Again many thanks for your reply that gives me extra confidence in proceeding AGAIN I KNOW AT MY OWN RISK, but I have nothing to loose I have another phone and intend to use now the HTC ONE M8 as a glorified remote control.
Thanks

I managed to flash HTC_One_M8_Lollipop_5.1_LMY47O.H9 and no wifi issue so that is good but it seems that the GPE ROM only has the blasting capability from the standard google class ConsumerIrManager and does not support ConsumerIrManagerHtc hence no learning ...
If anyone could provide me a link of a stock nandroid HTC ROM Lollipop 5.1 (not GPE) I'be be very grateful... Even if I loose phone.
Of course better would be CID T-MOB003 but I did not find...
Thanks

Stock TWRP nandroid backup (Sense LP for your CID) is posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Note that this is not a flashable ROM zip, but rather a TWRP backup. So you'll need to unzip the folder contents, transfer to proper location on the phone, and RESTORE in TWRP (not INSTALL). See tutorial steps 4 through 9 (then reboot). You shouldn't need to do the remaining steps.

Many many thanks for that. Was busy last 2 weeks but got it to work first finding a KitKat rom (before your post) working fine with HTCIR blast/learning and then installed fine the above all working fine as it used to be before the Marshmallow update that IMO regressed in this sense in HTC sense removing IR learning (I bought the device exactly for that unique capability). The good things is now since I did backup of both ROM I can test my APP on both and think about people using M7 that might want to keep this older device to actually have a powerful universal remote control with IR PRONTO hex learning capability. Still very busy with that APP and I hope to post / update it soon here for the M7/M8 users still on HTC sense ROM with IR learning capability.
Again many thanks for pointing me at the right link, I searched searched but missed it somehow.
Cheers
PS: M10 still kept the IR blasting for what I know, not sure about learning? anyone knows?

Hi Chaps,
Ive just noticed this post, is this definitley official then, no IR in Marshmallow??, i hope they sort it in the future then, ill be dropping back down to LP myself for now.

Final Marshmallow thread (for noobs and non-hackers with non-modified devices)

It looks like after hundred years of wait the final version of Marshmallow is here
But the thread about it have already flooded with hackers and people who root and are in general very advanced users.
Most people of us here have not rooted or touched the boot loader, all the problem we might see in the other thread might be because of the reason
that they have modified the phone in different ways.
so lets discuss of this update work for us who have non-modifed devices ? And let
keep all advanced "root" and hacking talk please. Especially since that in its own might confuse people
cause modified devices might cause problems that we do not get for people who have had patience
to not modified there devices or install any Beta versions of android.
It is not much information at this point about what versions that it is compatible with
but it can be downloaded here
http://www.huaweiblog.de/android/mar...fiziell-final/
I think we are all eager to install this device but there is not much info
we simply need more people to try and confirm what works and not
I think most people in this thread will be on lollipop b331
So it would be nice if people could try and confirm if it works from this version
will all data be wiped ?
You need to do full backup ?
Let us know what problem you get into.
For more advanced rooting and hacking talking use the other thread
this thread is for people with non experience of that
I myself am on B513 and tried updating to the final marshmallow build yesterday and it did not work, i tried both methods of updating, using the dialer method would not even recognize there was an update on my sd card, the power button and volume up and down method started and got to about 5% and then failed. This was all also done on a clean Mate 7, no root or anything and I even reset and wiped the device before trying the update. Either I'm doing something wrong in the update process or this update does not work on B513. Any help would be great in figuring this update out!

From what i have gathered, we may have a problem with the 'cust'. Aparently the verion that's around only works with C432 and some of us have C900 (you can easily check this in 'about phone/build number'. I hope someone with more knowledge can guide us

I upgraded from B513
bug on B522
Hello everyone I have noticed a bug under Marshmallow, some applications like facebook or twitter messenger does not run in the background and suddenly I not receive notifications if they are closed ( the same thing with B513 ) .
All the parameters are good , apps are "protected" and have all the permissions to do it ( run in background ) : it comes from Marshmallow or must wait for updated applications concerned ?
Second question , twice I managed to see integrated into the " phone " application during a call , the keys to Register the call or forward ... it lasted only 5/10 seconds and I unable to remember what I hit to make them appear .. you have an idea ?
Thank you (you and google translate )
we all know that huawei is the most incompetent out of all android oem's, but i dont think they're such idiots to release final version software with such restrictions to who can install it. the update demands too specific conditions to succeed.. i am on c900b331 and im sick of waiting. guys, even 4 years old nexus 4 works WAY better, more smooth and stable than mate 7. i guess we're just used to how it works but since few days im using iphone se and... i think i couldnt go back to huawei. this thing barely works compared to iphone.. still got the mate7, and nexus 4 and waiting to test out final marshmallow.
my concern is this whole b522 is not a stable final yet.
So far everything is running pretty smooth, updated from c900b513 to c900b522 and works great so far, only noticeable thing is the new health app and all but one theme is deleted, but they can easily be downloaded and added again if you want them, ram management is far better, I'll see how battery is tomorrow
