Galaxy Note 4- Can't Install TWRP - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Note 4 Can't Install TWRP
Hello,
I'm in the process of installing a recovery mod rooting my root 4.
When I try to install TWRP using Odin, I don't get any error messages, it says PASS, everything looks okay.
When I try to boot into recovery, it shows the android bot with the message (installing system updates) under it, and then it loads the default samsung recovery instead of TWRP.
I made sure that I have the correct version of TWRP downloaded (N910H Exynos version, named twrp-2.8.7.0-treltexx.img.tar). I aslo ran Odin as administrator, but it's still not working, the knox counter was tripped however.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I can't proceed with the rooting process without TWRP.

Did you root your phone before flashing the recovery?
EDIT: By the way, when you have flashed the recovery, you MUST immediately boot into recovery, or else the stock rom will overwrite it with the default recovery.

[Q] Can't install custom recovery - Note 3

I upgraded my Note 3 (N9005 LTE) to ofiicial kitkat 4.4.2 with Odin. I'm also rooted and everything working flawlessly, except I can't install neither TWRP, or CMW recovery, i tried both but geting bootloop with following messages:
Kernel is not seandroid enforcing
set warranty bit: kernel
And it just getting bootloop over and over. I can force download mode, and restart phone, and everything works great, except recovery.
I flashed recovery trough Odin, it's note first time I'm doing it, I followed instructions carefully, so doubt it was my error.
NOTE: After flashing CMW, after couple of bootlops,ODIN actually said PASS, still can't acess recovery, though...
Hope someone have a solution for this?
Thanks in forward
Make sure you are using the most recent recovery version:
[CWM] Kitkat compatible version by Chenglu
[TWRP] Kitkat compatible test version by the twrp maintainer
[TWRP] My (unofficial) kitkat compatible version
I am not getting bootloop but..
I do not have bootloop, but when I try to enter recovery mode the phone it says: Secure Fail Recovery. Then below the yellow triangle it says, System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has not been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest store for help. I was installing CWM for the Note 3. Anyone know how to fix this and install a custom recovery? I cannot enter recovery at all.

Here is what I used on both jb and kk. I went to twrp home page and downloaded the latest version (img.tar) and flashed it via Odin 3.09. I then downloaded downloaded the custom ROM and flashed using the recovery. If you are wanting to stay stock with root download the latest version of superSU to your SD card and then flash using the custom recovery.
Here is one thing I found out after updating to KK when holding the buttons to boot into recovery only hold them until you see the text "recovery booting" (or something similar). If you continue to hold, the phone will bootloop and actually turn on. Hope this helps.

please where to download this file please? you said you go to twrp home page, where is it?
Second, you said: If you are wanting to stay stock with root download the latest version of superSU to your SD card and then flash using the custom recovery.
I don't understand what you mean, can we root it without flashing the firmware? only using the latest version of superSU to my SD card and then flash using the custom recovery. that's all.
Other questions:
Oneclic root software can it work with Note 3 N900T 4.3 T-MBIL , Such as: VRoot_1.7.4. or kingo Android root ?

Twrp: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
(Make sure you download the correct version for you OS. Kitkat or Jelly Bean. If it were me I would make sure you are updated to KK.) Make sure the file you download is the one ending with img.tar and flash with Odin.
You do not need to flash a custom ROM to achieve root. You can use the base android version and have root. If you want to use a custom ROM there is no need to mess with SuperSU as almost every ROM will have it prebuilt in. If you are ONLY wanting root without changing your ROM then you will need to flash SuperSU using a custom recovery, I prefer twrp.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Here is the link to get the .zip file for the most up to date version of SuperSU.
Here are some instructions:
Flash twrp using Odin
Enter recovery mode (if not sure how to do it, Google it) Make sure you only hols the buttons until the words "recovery booting" appear and then release.
Once in twrp you can then flash your ROM or SuperSU. If you do not know how to use twrp just look it up on YouTube.
Once you have twrp and SuperSU OR a custom ROM you should be rooted.
WARNING: Rooting your phone with my method WILL trip Knox!
Extra questions: I did research and did not trust the companies performing the one click root. It's up to you on who you trust. I have no experience with the one touch rooting, but as long as they say you device is supported by them then you should be good to go.

Troubles installing custom recovery on Note 4 910G

I have a Note 4 - 910G (India) currently running 5.0.1
I have managed to root the device. I can confirm that I have root access with an app like root checker. And yes, I've managed to trip Knox. At the custom boot screen, it shows Knox status as 0x1 (4).
My problem is that I can't install TWRP or any other custom recovery. I have followed the usual steps to install a custom recovery with flashify, TWRP installer and adb commands. Each time I try, the device reboots into odin mode (high speed) mode only. I then have to flash a custom recovery with Odin and the device reboots. However, even then.. if I try to boot to a bootloader, it still goes into the odin mode.
Is my device completely borked? Can I still install TWRP and then CM12.x on the device?
Any help/pointers would be appreciated.
I too have a note 4 sm-n910G. I think ur TWRP file is corrupted or you got the wrong file. It should be easy to get custom recovery. I rooted my Note 4 using CF auto root and it had CWM recovery which i tried to flash in Odin but it wasnt working. So i changed to TWRP 2.8.1.0 and it worked perfectly. Maybe try changing the TWRP file, or use a different one like CWM or philz recovery. Good luck...

Note 3 will not accept new firmware install

Hi,
I have searched these forums and i am surprised to see that i am possibly the only one with this issue. I have previously rooted and flashed custom roms on my note 3 (SM-N9005) without issue.
The last flash was back to stock 5.0. Now when i try to flash recovery with Odin it does pass then i reboot manually into recovery and i either get boot error odin mode or it just reboots. When i flash a stock firmware the phone does not wipe even if wipe partition in odin is ticked.
There are a few roms i'd love to try out but i'm stuck on the current stock as i cannot flash recovery on my device. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
It looks like you flashed something wrong which mada all these problems
Try to use kingroot or any other app for rooting other than the traditional method
Root it and use rashr flash tool from play store to install recovery

[HELP] Note 4 boot loop after installing TWRP recovery (possibly soft brick?)

I have Note 4 model N910H firmware 5.1.1 and I rooted it using chainfire method. I checked using root checker and it says my phone was rooted properly. So I install TWRP latest recovery using flashify. The phone rebooted to recovery mode fine but it says that my phone not rooted so I'm confused and I let TWRP rooted it again. After that I reboot to system and I can't enter it instead it was stuck looping samsung and android logo.
So, what can I do? I can enter TWRP recovery and download mode. I know I can flash it to stock 5.1.1 but I dont know what version to use from SamMobile (XID/XSE, I'm from Indonesia) and there's different PDA/CSC version. So if I just pick one of them and flash it to my phone will it be okay? I want to avoid flashing to be honest because the rom size is so big so is there's a way to fix it without flashing?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
