Sony Xperia Z2 tablet 5.1.1 root video tutorial (easy) - Xperia Z2 Tablet General

Hey folks out there... I have made a step by step tutorial video on how to root 5.1.1 of our z2... Hope it will help everyone

This is downgrade method which use two tools which can root KitKat 4.4.2 firmwares on this device. So there is no point to use Kingroot method to achieve root. Simplier method is downgrade to 4.4.2 firmware by flashing correct ftf -file with Flashtool by @Androxyde and root device with Flashtool or XZDualrecovery by @[NUT].

Click to collapse
- your firmware now?
- what firmware do you want flash?
if you have already 257 no rooted you must return to 534 and root it
then you can upgrade with OTA and have 257 rooted
or flash a custom rom LB.

How do I root if I'm on B0A8? The link to root Lollipop doesn't mention that version

Hi. I recently manually (Odin) updated to 5.0.0 or version G900VVRU1B0A8. I s it possible to root while on that version? I see this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
But it's talking about bootloader versions different than mine.
Any help is appreciated.
The link is talking about a method where bootloader downgrade is no longer an option.
In your case, you would need to odin back to NCG, root it (using Towel root), install FlashFire. Then following instruction on below:

Rooting sm-s975l

Sm-s975l is what i have and it's running on 4.2 jellybean can i 1. upgrade it to 5.0.1 lollipop 2.how do i do do and 3. Will the oneclickroot method from AndroidRoot work
1. Yes.
2. Go to about phone, there should be a software update section and you should have the update available for download.
Or do it with Odin.
3. Once you update to lollipop, you better use Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root rooting method.

Downgrading to a rootable firmware

I know with the Z3 i was able to flash an older firmware without unlocking the bootloader or doing any changes in order to be on a easily rootable version. Is it the same way with the X Compact?
There are some DirtyCow-tools to root phones, but I don't know if root is persistent or if it even works on the XCs ROMs. You can just download the earliest ROM you can find and try it youself. There are some ressources around, although not in this forum.
So yes, you should be able to downgrade and root, but so far nobody has posted any first person reports wether it works with the X Compact.
Thanks. I installed the firmware listed by Androplus in his advanced stock kernel 34.1.A.1.198 and worked from there. I guess in time there will be a way to root without unlocking bootloader but for now i'm happy. Now just waiting for a way to mirror the screen with the unlocked bootloader.

Rooting G900VVRS2DQA1

I did a bit of looking and I was wondering if this guide is the latest way to root from this firmware. So I flash back to PB1 and follow the root guide? Thank you very much https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...oot-method-t3561529/post71202995#post71202995
