Windows 10 and Odin compatibility - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering since I got a new computer that is a Windows 10 platform if there is a new Odin version I should use or if 3.09 is still good to use. I still have my old pc that is fully functional but I don't what to have to use it if I don't need to.

Why not try and let us know?

Well I did try it but I think I had a bad file download and got a fail that then gave me a update error and directed me to use a recovery tool to get my phone back up and running ( stuck in download mode) couldn't get the phone booted up. Tried different files in Odin and all failed. Not 100 percent sure it is windows 10 and Odin 3.09 compatibility issues. Fired up the old pc and got my phone back.

trouble with ODIN

Hey guys, been trying to recover my phone from a bad flash and am having some trouble getting past EB01.
So i heimdalled to EB01 and seem to be stuck there, I've done OTA updates and tried to Odin imnut's ED03 recovery but both seem to fail to update regardless midway through the update. During the OTA i get a triangle with a "!" in the middle and my phone reboots and during the ODIN my phone while in download mode - the bar will actually just stop at the 60% mark or so.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Could be a corrupt download, did you check the md5 of the file. Also I have two machines, and my Windows 7 x64 has issues with my fascinate and download mode, but my 7 x86 machine works like a charm. Also im sure you already did this but make sure your selecting PDA mode.

Odin not recognizing s4

My computer recognizes my phone and can transfer files and everything but odin will not. Using original cable too. Neitger of my gs4 will work with odin. Tried installing the correct drivers also. They literally tried installing for about 5 hours and still wouldn't work. Any ideas?

Make sure you're on odin 3.x and get your file and everything loaded and ready, then plug in the phone while in download mode. That's the way it works for me.

Yep that's what I've tried. No luck

Try different USB ports/cables. Or another laptop.

:silly: lol
anyway, I had the same problem but WITH the down menu.so not a solution for me.
Just write here for any future needs -- I uninstalled the drivers from the device manager, as it was showing one "Samsung blabla device"
after reinstalling the drivers (google SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.9.0.exe)
it detected 2 devices in Odin mode (down+up+power) "Samsung modem" and "Samsung blabla2..."
so now it detected all OK
Possible solution
Hi, I can have found the solution for this, when i conected the galaxy S4 to the computer (already on Download Mode) it pops out a message saying that the driver could not be installed, I went to the advenced and clicked on the option "Yes" and then after a while a looked to Odin 3.09 and it was with the BLUE rectangle.
Hope you understand!! Thank you all!

[Q] Boot Loop of sorrow

I need Major help with my phone. So here's the run down.
Starting on a Tuesday my phone started acting funny, it would get to the AT&T logo and stop, but then if I removed the battery and hold down the power button for roughly 20 seconds and start it up it would come on without any problems that I could see. Through the week it got worse, and by that I mean that it would restart on it's own, randomly. By that Sunday pulling the battery and holding the power button no longer did anything and from what I understand it is stuck in a boot loop.
I should have started by asking all of you, but unfortunately for me I tried fixing it myself by searching for the answers.
This is where my phone sits. It was rooted, but there is no back up. I can get to the Android system recovery. I foolishly did a reset and cleared my phone (I have all of my info and pics backed up so I'm not worried about that). My computer does not recognize my phone unless I go into the ADB setting in recovery mode and as far as I can tell the computer just knows that something is connected through USB but can't quite tell what it is. Kies has been installed on said computer recently so I have the newest Samsung drivers. I have a 32 gb sd card for my phone if that helps any. I forgot to mention that my phone is running Version 4.3 of the S4 software.
I am a total noob when it comes to these types of problems so please help me.
Do you know what firmware version you're on? Did you do a factory reset in recovery? Kies is junk you're probably going to have to use Odin. But even that may not work based on your description of the problems.

I am running Version 4.3. I only installed Kies to make sure I had the right driver, but you're right, Odin doesn't see my phone. I did do a factory reset in recovery, hopefully I didn't completely screw myself.

Reboot issues

I bought a att s4 that has been rooted and is running 4.3. Using it with Straight Talk. The previous owner that did the root said it still was on stock rom. I'm new to the rooting and custom roms and find a lot of the info on here confusing so please pardon the ignorance.
So my main issue is the random reboot (about 6 or 7 times a day) problem that I have learned is very common with the s4. It only happens when I wake the phone and swipe to open home screen. I have read that rooting would help but that doesn't appear to be the case for me. I also read that I should update to 4.4kk but I can't do that ota because of the root. At this point I could care less if it rooted and I'm open to all suggestions to fix the reboot issues.

You should not be having reboot issues. I would recommend you flash the nb1 tar file in Odin. Then let it ota to nc1 and root with towel root. You can find the nb1 tar on the general forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50912149
Then read this,

You're going to download then to your pc. The nb1 file is a zip, extract that and you'll have a .tar.md5 file. Use that in Odin in the PDA slot

Any advice on getting Odin to open. I have tried multiple download sources and have ran as administrator using win7 64bit professional. When i click on the .exe It will bring me to the pop up screen that says OK and the program opens for split second and then shuts down.

WTF ODIN!

So I'm trying to restore my note to stock, and for whatever reason Odin no longer recognizes my phone.
I have used Odin on this phone on this computer before, but now nothing. Kies will detect the phone, but not Odin
Updated drivers, and reinstalled Odin but no luck.
Can I use kies to update if i'm on a rooted stock rom?
There appears to be a Windows 8 & Odin issue, tried everything to make it work with no luck. Tried on my wife's laptop with windows 7, and it worked instantly

Unless something just changed, Windows Pro 8.1 (64bit) w/Media Center works fine with Odin 3.09. About 2 weeks ago I updated my modem via Odin and it worked fine.
At the time, latest updates to Windows were installed. There's been one update to Windows since a couple of days ago.
