Random Reboots on GTi9505 int'l - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

*made the topic cuz I couldn't find a fix on previous ones*
Okay so. I am selling the S4 and going for something else. I flashed my Australian OPS 4.4.2 back and noticed that it was not black edition (my hardware is black edition) ... So I downloaded 4.4.2 BTU and flashed it. After a clean flash I rebooted and found out that WiFi was broken so flashed OPS again and since then I get random reboots (soft reboots) on certian conditions:
Calling*
Multitasking*
Third one is more common and annoying:
I have 15 seconds timeout and after 15 seconds the screen goes black (not locked yet) ... when I try power button when the screen is turned off the screen turns on and sometimes it doesn't respond and sometimes it works normally and then the phone crashes either way. It does not reboot like normally. It soft reboots, from boot animation. Uptime doesn't get reset too. And battery drains like crazy. Battery was so cool when using CM. It all happened after I flashed that firmware with odin
TL-DR: Flashed BTU on OPS. Reverted to OPS and things hit the fan! Happens mostly when locking / unlocking.
I'd appreciate a solution without needing Xposed cuz I'm selling this.

I would but I'm afraid if it gives me WiFi issue or SIM issue. OPS doesn't have LP either. And I don't wanna custom rom cuz I'm selling this out. I can't downgrade once up to LP right? :/

If it is not carrier locked then you can flash any stock tw rom on the device.
You can downgrade. There are some guides. You might want to read those guides first to make sure you're up to the task.

Oh really? That's so cool I didn't know... Thanks buddy and yeah mine is Optus Australian ROM but I am using UFONE Pakistan SIM so it is unlocked. But BTU just broke my wifi. Well, clean flashed OPS and it fixed RANDOM reboots. Till yet probably.... Clean flash BTU might get WIFI working too. Thanks

[Q] Galaxy S4 i337m - NO AUDIO WHATSOEVER

Total Noob here. I have a GS4 (Canadian Rogers Model i337m). When flashing CM 10.2 I wiped dalvik cache, system, data, internal storage, and cache (to get all the samsung stuff off my device) and formatted data. After flashing, everything worked perfectly EXCEPT there is no audio from anywhere. No systems sounds, no notification sounds, no music (headphones don't even work), absolutely nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been racking my brain all day trying to figure something out. Thanks.
Stock firmware?
sent from my mobile device
Ive got the same issue, I was running OMNI rom until i got fed up of the phone powering off on its own. I decided to flash back to stock rom with odin then flash CM11 nightly. Thats about when I lost sound. Not only do I not have sound, the phone freezes up every time I use an app ( even dialer ) which requires sound. I've since tried flashing back to stock again in Odin, even trying different stock firmwares. I've still got the issue and the phone is basically useless as a phone without sound... Please help. Is this a modem issue? If so, how to I flash a new modem that will work, and doesn't flashing stock replace the modem anyway? Could this be a bootloader issue? I've been flashing roms and playing around with android for a while but I'd still consider myself a noob.
Same
I got the same thing here, No music plays at all, My phone completely froze when someone tried to call me. also complete noob at this stuff.
I did find a couple ROM's that were i337m 4.3. But none did anything, but did the same thing. All had no audio at all. I also get screen flashing a lot (That could just be my water damage)
Wouldn't mind finding an answer for this either!

Flash i337m 4.3 official firmware
You might wanna try flashing a new kernel. That usually fixes Wifi issues at least.

Hi, guys im having some issues and would like some expertise. Okay so i have an s4 the model is m919v but the model is unrelated to the problem. I was running custom roms and have been for a few months and i have a phone that has a locked sim. I heard from someone that i can flash an older version of my modem and get the service menu to unlock... point is i did it and it didnt unlock BUT THATS NOT MY ISSUE. I decided to then revert to stock because my phone was being really glitchy after i tried the unlock. Now i restored my phone and got a custom recovery installed a custom rom that was working flawlessly before is now also being glitchy the same way after i tried to unlock it,
These are some glitches im experiencing:
1) phone app is taking a long time to load and it doesnt type in numbers fast
2) when i call someone it just freezes and i cant go to the call screen
3) no notification sounds coming from my phone it just vibrates but doesnt ring
and im sure a few more
IM SURE THESE HAPPENED AFTER I WENT INTO THE SERVICE MENU AND TRIED TO UNLOCK MY DEVICE.
Someone please tell me what i can do to fix this because ive already reverted to stock once.
EDIT: omg MY CAMERA ISNT WORKING EITHER! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP IM SCARED

I9300 going boot loop

Hi
I am using 4.42 on my rooted i9300.
my mobile goes to boot loop too many times.
like i got a call ... once i am done and cancelled the call, my mobile restarted and went into bootloop.
Had to take out the battery and put it back to get it working.
this happens at different times with different cases.
one more thing i am facing is -- FCs sometimes with play-store, sometimes with facebook and sometimes while playing games like fifa 14 or real cricket.
downgraded my i9300 back to 4.41 with gapps-modular-mini-4.4.4-20140708. lets see if i face the same issues now.
Also currently downloading 4.43
Install the 4.43, I had the same issue and it has fixed it. Don't know what is was though.. You should also flash Boeffla Kernel !

BOEFFLA KERNEL ... from where to get?
Flash ... as a normal rom flashing way?
You can grab the last version on boeffla-kernell.de, BE SURE to download the CM version. I'm a newbie here so i can't post links.
Flash it throught recovery and download Boeffla Config from the play store to configure it.

Solved! (Urgent problem) Update touch keys FW

Hello! Just god my phone out of service today (screen replacement) and I saw that the capacitive buttons weren't working all the time. I looked up on the internet and found an option (dial *#2663#) and it'll open up a menu. From there, you can see 2 important things that leads to this problem.
Phone's Touch key FW version :0x10
Part's Touch key FW version : 0x06
When I press on the Touch key FW update, a popup message appears on the screen saying (Now Updating... Warning! Do not turn off!). Because of multi-tasking I can use the phone at the same time and when this message is showed, the capacitive buttons are working without problem. The thing is, the message never disappears so it never completes the update. I've changed to stock GS4 ROM but still the same. Any help? Tried looking up on the internet but didn;t find anything useful.
Thank you!
P.S: Btw, they are working fine in Recovery mode. Isn't there anyway to restore the keys' FW to default? Also the Phone's FW is bigger than the Part's shouldn't they be reversed? I'm really desperate, thanks...!
P.P.S: Not only in recovery, but also on CM 12 (lollipop) it works without problems. What should I do? I don't really want to use CM my whole life, I'm more into TW.
Just did more "testing" on CM it is ok on the launcher, but it also has problems while being in some apps like internet they are pressed by themselves. How can I upgrade/downgrade the touch FW, I found some posts but they were htc only. I can't believe no1 knows what to do on here. help please
Have you tried kies?
Or
Install an older official samsung rom (like the one before the latest update) and then upgrade using ota.
Hopefully this will also upgrade any older firmware.
Ok, so after hours of pain, I ended up downgrading from HOA7 ROM (Lollipop) to 4.2.2. It took me some time, but meh... Anyway, after the downgrade, I accessed the same menu again, and the update for key FW have finished this time. I restarted the device, but it was still 0x10 and 0x6, nothing had changed. What should I do now?

When I said update using ota, I was talking about the rom.
The firmware for the touch keys should come bundled with the update.
And I didn't mean you to downgrade as far as jellybean. Some older kitkat build would've sufficed.
Try updating the rom to the newest variant using that OTA. If it works.
Also, the dialer code doesn't work on my lollipop GPE rom.

Hey! Thanks for your answer again! I know you didn't mean jelly bean, but I had troubles downgrading from lollipop (damn bootloader). Just finished installing Kies, will come back with a follow up. Thanks again!
Btw, which method would you recommend me more, OTA or Kies?
Both get their updates from samsung, I guess. So I don't think it matters.
But my instinct tells me to use OTA
Ok, then I need to fix the Wi-Fi first, flashing NON-HLOS.bin and modem.bin didn't help atm.
I can't find a way to fix the Wi-Fi on this version. Should I go for Kies?

Obviously
Damn, this thing really pisses me off. Kies 2.6 is stuck at "connecting" and kies 3 says it's not supported (4.2.2). O.O

It doesn't matter. There my be a fatal flaw in this idea.
The phone's firmware version might be provided by samsung, but the part's firmware version is provided by the manufacturer. And I don't know if samsung manufactured that.
Are you sure it not a hardware issue?
You said that they replaced the screen. Are you talking about the glass only?
The digitizer is connected to the motherboard (and I guess that's where the firmware for it is stored) So there shouldn't be any reason why it would have a different version if you replace just the glass.
It was the entire screen (LCD/Digitizer too). In recovery, the buttons work perfectly.

The firmware seems to be stored on a partition that is not affected by changing roms. That's why it is the same even after all this rom flashing.
Even if it is in recovery, it uses the same firmware.
I would check mine but I can't since that code doesn't work.
Yea, I know, it only works on stock. Am I able to change it somehow?

Ahh, wait. I thought you're talking about the buttons. But you were talking about code.
Yes, I was talking about the codes . As for the buttons, they work flawlessly in 2 cases: 1. In recovery and 2. When I enter the menu by typing that code and choosing to update the touch key's FW.
I think this is what I'd need. The bad thing is that this is for nexus. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2800308

G900F Marshmallow random reboots on lockscreen

Hi, i really have big problem.
my phone has random reboots after trying to turn the screen on when its locked.
I can use the lockscreen around 30 times until i get a reboot. The screen doesnt even turn on. The phone vibrates and reboots.
On Lollipop everything worked fine,no random reboots or else.
I've got the newest BL and modem, otherwise i wouldnt have the chance to use the rom correctly.
I'm currently using Alexandrs rom , v3.2.
Can anyone help me?
Greets
Does this also happens on stock rom?
tapatalked
For me it works great with the same rom.
I also tried the ported version of MM on my G900F (G900M Marshmallow) and had the same problems.
Currently i am using alexandrs rom v3.2. I didnt try another MM rom.
Isnt there anyone who could help me? :'(

I still have this problem on cpe2 any fix??? Thanx
Hi,
I also have the problem. There is one thing that looks like related: It only happens if you have the fingerprint reader enabled for unlocking. Is this the same for others?
I also tried latest CPEA ROM by alexandr -> no change. I did not update TWRP because this should be unrelated to lockscreen.

Do you have fingerprint unlocking enabled? For me it only happens when it is enabled (e.g., when I am not at home). At home my phone unlocks automatically and I can unlock it as often as I want. When I need to use the fingerprint reader it reboots every 10 to 30 times.
I had random reboots on my device after updating from kitkat to marshmallow (stock, no root, over ota)
I didn't wipe after updating (I would suggest to wipe as the first step)
I came back to kitkat because I didn't like the new marshmallow ui (especially the white settings menu!) and because of the reboots. however after reverting to kk I don't have any reboots anymore. so i would suggest just to wipe everything and if it doesn't work go back to kitkat

For me stock ROM has the same problem! This is why I went back to Alexndr ROM.
I just checked CPF3 release today. I was able to make it reboot on lockscreen again, but only when fingerprint reader is enabled. Does never happen without!

Stock firmware on unbranded fone is no option for me, because it does not have enabled VOLTE in Germany. The one with right CSC is still on Android 5.
I just tested stock ROM for a day, but gave up after doing a loop of "lock - unlock - fingerprint - lock- unlock - fingerprint - ...". Very easy to reproduce, you just need to do it about 20 times. So it has nothing to do with Alexndr.
The firmware version you mentioned is the same kernel and changelist as the recent Alexndr one.
Interestingly the reboots were slightly different with CPF3: Instead of just rebooting with only the button lights on but dark screen, in CPF3 it woke up partially, but screen stayed black, button lights on. But it did not reboot. To make it reboot you had to try to wake it up again. Before that it was rebooting after 2 seconds automatically.
