Can't send or receive SMS when on LTE - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Apologies if this a known issue... I'm on Three UK and found I can't send or receive SMS when on LTE. If I turn off mobile data or switch to 3G, the messages send/come through.
Anyone know of this happening elsewhere?

Never mind - fixed by changing 'APN type' to *

Spoke too soon on this - it's still happening intermittently.
Spoke to Three support who confirm that others are having similar problems, and think it's due to issues with their 800Mhz spectrum rollout.

Slow Call Pickup Solution

I have been reading here that almost all of us are having to deal with a rather annoying lag when receiving an incoming voice call. As per a previous post and suggestion by "dherrero"...
<<I had the same problem and now is solved.
In phone/options/band select WCDMA (not automatic)>>
...I have changed the band setting to WCDMA, which is the 3G cellular network instead of the allied 2G GSM standard and I can report that my phone now rings instantly and the pickup button also works right away! Of course not all areas have UMTS (3G) coverage, but when you see the little "U" next to the signal strength, then normally you are in a WCDMA zone and this should then work. I am using the latest QTek ROM, should any of you be curious about this.
If anybody can report having success with the above as well, we would be able to more easily confirm this as a fix and not me and dherrero having a "one-off" success at solving this problem.
Ok, I'll give it a go, but what happens when you're not in 3G coverage?
EDIT: checked, no difference
Might just be me, but I found assigning a ringtone to a contact sped up the phone ringing.
I only have ~250 contacts though

shot boet - I havent come across the problem but I will keep that in mind. I always take auto-cell selection off too, not sure if it helps but I dont want my phone hunting around for other networks.
This has been tested by members on Modaco, and after it seemed it worked intially, it seems, that it is NOT a fix.

Incoming calls go to voicemail with active data connection

I've got a T-mobile UK touch plus.
Currently, if I am using the data connection then all incoming voice calls are being sent to voicemail. This occurs with a GSM connection, which is part of the spec and is fine, but also with the 3G connection, which should allow the incoming voice call through. I have spoken to t-mobile and they acknowledge this problem and say they are working to fix it.
Is it likely there will be a fix for this? Is there a radio ROM already available that fixes the issue?
Sorry if this has already been covered - I searched with a pretty wide variety of terms and didn't find anything conclusive.
I have the same phone, same network... and it still rings while i have the "3g connected" symbol (3g with two arrows pointing left and right) showing.
Havent tried while connected to GPRS cuz im not sure how to force it into G mode while im near a phone.
Sorry, I should have been clearer - the phone will ring with an unused 3G connection, but not when data is actually being sent/received. This is the behaviour you would expect from GSM, but the 3G spec should allow voice calls through regardless of data - my Vodafone v1605 has no problem with this. T-mobile say it is the device not the network, I just wonder how likely I am to get a fix for this? It could be a problem with activesync using the data connection quite frequently.
A good way to test it is with google maps, or something that will maintain a constant connection, then call your phone. 3G should put the call through, but it will be rejected to voicemail instead.
FYI to put into GSM mode;
Settings>Phone>Band>Set top option to GSM, leave bottom on Auto
same problem here. but i only expreienced that randomly
i know that gprs can not handle data and voice. but 3g should, right?
Yes, 3G should be able to run voice and data streams simultaneously without any problems. I'm surprised there is not more interest in this because it seems to be a pretty major problem with the device if you cannot receive calls while browsing or otherwise using the data connection.
Me too
I experienced this too. I have an direct HTC Touch dual rather than the t-mobile branded version but I'm using a t-mobile sim. I use Exchange Activesync and am missing calls all the time.
fwiw, i experience the same with a Nokia e61 on 3-AT network with exchange active.
It seems that T-mobile have fixed their network today to allow calls while using data. Bonus.

sprint network issues

So has anybody been noticing that sprint has had "network failures" alot lately? I cant send texts or sometimes even make calls as if my phone was deactivated. I was just curious who else has had this problem.
Hello...
Here in the Detroit area, we are experiencing the same issues. It's known by Sprint... Just be patient - unfortunately!
Haven't seen this in New York.
I can't receive incoming calls today -- data is working fine (internet, text messaging, & email) and outbound calls are working... I'm also seeing a roaming triangle that I usually don't see... Earlier today calls to my cell phone got a busy signal -- now they get an "all circuits are busy" message...

Note 4 (SM-N910F) dropping calls and can't receive calls when 4G enabled

Hi All,
I have a Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F with BTU firmware N910FXXU1ANK4 (UK) which I flashed from the older O2 UK firmware N910FXXU1ANJ4 when I bought it.
I am having problems receiving calls and making calls when 4G LTE is enabled on the phone (I get 4G signal bar). When someone calls me my phone rings and the signal bar is 3-5 bars usually and when I slide to answer the phone it seems to answer (timer starts clocking up) and I can't hear anything (sometimes for a split second) and the other person can't hear me, then the person is directly kicked to my voice mail!
If I try to make outgoing calls with 4G enabled it sometimes works but other times it sits there saying "dialling..." then after 10 second or so gives up and stops. If I do manage to call out I get terrible phone recetion breaking up and high pitched noises sometimes. Sometimes it is ok for a while talking but eventually the call drops at some stage.
If I force my phone into 2G only or 2G/3G only then the phone seems to work completely normally.
I have had multiple SIM swaps with no luck.
Samsung walk in repair centre was useless as the empolyees all appeared to be undertrained kids.
O2 was no use saying there is no transmitter faults reported in my area.
Before I try a hard reset and flashing back to the old O2 firmware and then possibly sending my phone away for repair, is there anything else that might be going on here? Has anyone else seen this or know if it is a known problem?
Cheers,
Richard.

Most mobile providers still don't support VoLTE (don't know if that is the case in UK) so your phone needs to go down to 3g/2g when phone call is received.. So maybe there is some problem between BTU and O2 firmware (I am no expert, but may be CSC related)..
I suppose your network selection on 4g/3g/2g automatic mode, not LTE (4G only)?

I only have the option of :
LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) - Have the issues with this mode
WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) - No issues in this mode
WCDMA only - not tested
GSM only - No issues in this mode.
In phone dialer hit settings. There should be a volte toggle if there is turn it off.
I don't have any issue like that. 4G turns to 3G or 2G when receiving/taking a call. May be u hav an issue with ur firmware
I've tried flashing back from the BTU UK firmware back to the original O2 UK firmware and the problem remains. I also tried a hard reset afterwards leaving the same issue.
I have noticed that the issue does occur with 3G as well as 4G but it seems to be a bit more stable. 2G seems the most stable.
I have arranged with Samsung to send my Note 4 for repair so hopefully that will resolve the issues.
I have the same problem using 4G. Sent for replacement. Waiting for feedback..
got information that warranty service did find the problem and in a week or so I will get new one
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!!! THANKS A LOT !!!!! I WAS LIKE CRAZY TRYING WHAT CAN BE WRONG WITH THIS....
In my situation i can

I can call in 4g but i can't receive calls when im on 4g... - just only hire is a issue
Last time my charger when i was charging in night get burn and i think meybe form that time... i have phone 3 weeks brand new.

[Q] NZ N910U hangs on 4G, can't send SMS

Hi there,
I need help. I am on a NZ Note 4 N910U. What often happens is that my phone prefers or "hangs" on low 4G reception instead of changing to 3G or HSPA+. While this is occurring SMS fail to send constantly until it decides to change down to 3G.
Has anyone else had this problem? My carrier is having difficulty accepting this as a problem because the SMS that fail to send apparently do not show up on their servers and I am currently at a stalemate with them over this.
There appears to be some spotty coverage of this type of issue on the internet but nothing with a solution.
I have tried a logcat but it only seems to show that the messages fail.
