Is dual SIM a complete battery hog? Anyone with experience using dual SIM cards?
Thoughts, tips, etc...
Nothing noticeable on mine. Been using them for a coupe of weeks now.
Actually depends on your carrier. If your carrier has bad coverage your phone will keep on searching for a signal and use up more power. If both your carriers have good coverage, then battery life is great.

is it good? i will be using it on ATT as it is unlocked. i had a fascinate on VZ before it was updated, and it was a crappy signal compared to my others. hows the vibrant?

I'm not an ATT but reception was fine, but mainly depended on your modem. Some modems gave great reception and data speeds, but gave poor battery, while some gave mediocre reception, with great battery.
As long as you live in a area that has wcdma 1900, the vibrant should work fine on at&t.

well its half and half where i live and work. i am totally fine under EDGE. dont use data much. i just want c good cell reception since it is my pnly phone.
has the wifi issies been fixed?
Mine has always been great. No complaints at all. I can't speak for Att Network but you should see good signal if you are in a city
I'm on ATT and the reception is very good, even in elevators.
my vibrant has one of the worst antenna. I can't hold the bottom part of the phone if I want to have a 3G data.

Really good and YES, depends on the modem you use.
I have found that I get the best signal when driving over 120mph. My emails loads like you wouldn't believe, and text messages seem to send and receive much better at those speeds. Although the new KB5 modem may let you go a little slower. Haven't tested it as I drank too much before I got in the car after flashing it, and I forgot which pocket I left my phone it to see.

In his defense he was bit tipsy.
pff, i went 160 and my gps couldnt keep up with tellin me where to turn on time
in my defense i was bit high , in my phones defense sh!t is retarded
Well i am on Bionix 1.3.1 Rom. There is slight difference in different Modems. Anyhow i have seen that the reception is actually better than Iphone 3gs when running in difficult areas with low reception.
Any Aussies here with a Telstra XT905 but on Optus and with 4G active?
I'm finding with 4G active I get intermittent signal dropouts - it will go from even 5 bars to none then re-connect shortly. This is intermittent and random, I don't know how often its really happening unless I just happen to see it when I've got the screen on. I started noticing it as it seems to drop voice calls when it happens, normally doesn't kick in on a voice call until >5 minutes.
If I turn off 4G all is fine.
I tried freezing modem fast dormancy and modem stats service as it seemed to be triggering lots of wakelocks, but that didn't affect it.
I'm feeling dumb now signing up for another year and enabling 4G, could have kept trucking on my cheaper non 4G plan lol (and be coming out of contract around now!).
Note I'm on Optus, i have no idea if this happens if I am Telstra. The problem is too intermittent for me to pop in a temporary Telstra SIM and notice it (as I don't want my 'real' number to be offline for more than a short duration). I'm hoping it is indeed carrier related (i.e. so problem is fixed if I go back to Telstra, as opposed to hardware issue). Its intermittent enough so that its impossible to demonstrate in a store, and further I've unlocked/rooted so there goes my warranty anyway!
I'm the only one? Even if you don't have any issues w/ Optus 4G pls let me know so I can distinguish between a phone issue and a general Optus 4G compatibility issue.
3G appears rock solid, switched back to it (battery life FTW) and no issues again.

Not sure if I agree. We've all purchased this "niche" phone so it has a market, but Motorola phones are generally not anywhere near as popular as say SG3 or the like.
Personally I've always used Moto phones since I had the Moto Z6, what a beast! Best sound on a phone ever (ok may of that generation!).
A lot of ppl got put off by the allegedly crappy screen and price.
Wife and I got a Note 3 each. Mines on T mob and hers is on ATT networks. She consistently get more signal strength than I do. Both units are on ATT. Apps show mine as approx -111 db and hers as -107db . Signal strength bars wise, she has two and I have one or zero mostly, and thats outside!

I can't help you, sorry, but I have been following your posts for several days so I am subscribing to see what you are able to find out. Good luck buddy!
This is one of the main things that concerns me about running t mobile version on ATT. It may technically work, but is it optimized for their network? I would like the fully unlocked bootloader, but not at the expense of phone funtionality.
And to that end, does visual voicemail work with the T Mobile phone? Just curious.

You mention the word "optimized" in vocabulary this means nothing until now. So perhaps, you have a point. We shall see. Generally speaking I go by whatis on the "box" if frequency is the same and then some then its good to go. I guess we shall see....:good:

Please do. I don't mind sacrificing my self for the majority LOL. Too many variables as my unit maybe within certain tolerences of Sam"soog". Hence why I posted here.
You might wanna do a more proper test than just "Outside"
I'm talking both phones in the exact same spot.
This should be expected, until maybe both phones using the same exact modem. At that point the comparison should be closer but even if you had purchased 2 att n3 and 1 was made from date xx/xx/xx and 2 xx/xx/xx the results might still vary.
Also the csc stuff that happens on first boot seems to be relevant for data speed.. don't give up your hopes yet

I have had similar experience to the OP in the pass with an HTC HD2 and that was the last time I bought a Tmobile phone to use on AT&T. AT the time what I experienced was AT&T given data priority to their own phones vs. imported or other network phones. According to the 3rd level tech I spoke with during my issues, If you bring a non-AT&T IMEI on their network, they will give it the lowest priority on their network. The device will work but it won't work as good as the AT&T device. The device show up on your account as a unknown phone. It was true back then I am not sure if it is true now. But given the circumstances with the lock bootloader, I would not surprise if AT&T was up to the same old trick but using the different technology or methods.
Keep in mind AT&T has nothing to lose by making sure their phones perform much better on their network. The Note 3 just hit market and the truth will come out soon or later. At this point I am going to stick with AT&T Note 3 and wait for the dust to settle a bit.

Ran same more amateur radio testing side by side with wife's note 3. This time it was in the bedroom. LOL. Her db figures were higher slightly but showed two bars where as mine showed one bar.
I'm thinking the AT&T phone is set to display signal better.

you are correct. the at&t displays a better signal when in reality, the differences between the two versions are insignificant.
I remember comparing the htc one developer edition to the at&t htc one and observing similar conclusions.
You are definitely right about priority on the network. That is still true today.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk 5
By priority, I presume you guys mean when there is congestion?
With all those who are running T-Mo on ATT, I presume this would become prevalent during peak times or heavy congestion?
I think a good test would be a side-by-side ATT/T-Mo during peak hours to see if the ATT gets faster data...
At the same time, the SIM is an ATT SIM, which is an ATT account. I just wonder how the switch makes the decisions if in fact it prioritizes: Is it based on hardware IMEI or foreign accounts (roaming)?
I'm not sure how it's prioritized. But it would be in times of congestion. I can't explain how he gets less service than his wife.

Lets not forget that AT&T fakes signal as well. Its been known when you run an AT&T ROM over a 3rd party ROM. Just some food for thought.
It may fake the bars but it can't fake the dB. That's the issue with the OP.

If that is still the case then I will need a much better case to go out and buy other network phones to use on AT&T's network. My experience was pretty bad with the HTC HD2 during that time.

I believe one of the triggers was the IMEI because AT&T already have database of all the AT&T IMEI. When your IMEI does not match on their database, they normally don't know what kind of device you have. Essentially the network look at you as a step child and put you in the not an AT&T device bucket. I would presume if would definitely take effect during peak congestion time but I think it also play a role in other scenarios too. Again I am speculating on these scenarios but I recall my experience was not good. This was around the time where we did not have any LTE available. Either way, time will tell how they foreign devices with LTE on their network.
Anyone else having these issues? I've noticed that places I always had at least 1-2 bars with my note 2 I will not have any service with my note 3. Also I have been dropping calls in areas that I never did. Could this be my new sim card or should I exchange my phone? I also feel that my wifi connection stability/range is slightly worse than before.
Mine is the same way, don't get the signal my note 2 would and 4G is weaker also .

I hope this is just a first software or sim issue. Or at the very worst a first production run issue. I will likely be bringing mine to Verizon this weekend to test and new sim or exchange if that doesn't make any difference. Annoying.
Idk how much it will help you but I noticed I was in 3G a lot of the time as well. Definitely more than my N2, I switched my preferred network to LTE/CDMA instead of Global and I now have 4GLTE way more. As far as the wifi and phone reception, I myself haven't noticed any huge difference but I did read the international version of the N3 already received 2 updates and they supposedly not only improved the wifi and antenna signals but also battery life. Who knows when we'll see an update though. We are on Verizon.

Tried that and it actually made my signal significantly worse. I switched back to global and my problem seems way worse tonight than any day this week. Can barely hold onto a signal in places that I never had an issue before. Battery pull didn't help at all. I constantly get a message that says I can't send messages and then asks me to retry. Frustrating, will be going to Verizon tomorrow or Friday to return/exchange
Just now noticing this
I wonder if this has anything to do with being rooted? it seems like I just started dropping calls like crazy just today. I do remember getting the sent error on some text messages, though I can't remember if that started befor or after rooting.
Haven't had a single issue with signal or dropping calls. Also my 4G speeds are pretty insane. I'm thinking there are some units with defective radios.
So not sure how long it's been doing it but the Sim 1 slot on my phone gets god awful signal, 1-2 bars best, but it still registers as 4g LTE (speed about 70-100Kb/s). if i put my sim card into slot 2, i get great signal but it locks into 3g and the speed only just exceeds 10mbps. anyone had similar behaviour on the dual sim? on Telstra network in Aus if that means anything
thanks
Do u get 1 or 2 bars across all areas or only at a certain place. That could relate to operator network issue and not a phone issue.
