Question on 5.1.1 - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Quick background. So my note 4 is currently on 5.0.1 boe1, stock rooted knox flag tripped so I cant update via OTA to 5.1.1 which is fine, I'm already readying myself for a manual Odin update
Question is that if there is a 5.1.1 firmware avail on my country for my provider, if I flash the stock 5.1.1 firmware does it also flash the 5.1.1 bootloader or will it retain my 5.0.1 bootloader? I'm pretty sure it will also update the bootloader but wanted to ask anyway to confirm.
Main reason for asking is that I know you lose root when you flash stock firmware via Odin. I'd still want to attain root after upgrading to 5.1.1. Not sure if there are any methods to date to root on 5.1.1 bootloader, or if its safe to flash the 5.0.1 bootloader after the 5.1.1 stock firmware flash.
TIA for those who would answer. [emoji1]

Simple bro. Don't forget to backup your data!!!
Poland 5.1.1 comes with 4 files including bootloader, modem, csc and system. Country or provider means nothing for it, it will work anyway. So, here are the things you gonna do:
1-) Flash Poland 5.1.1 with odin (be careful to place all files in correct section in odin!!!)
2-) Enable usb debugging from developer options
3-) Flash twrp with odin
4-) Lastly, flash which 5.1.1 rom you like, all of them are rooted now :good:

Bumping up since 5.1.1 is already avail on my country. Wanted to know if flashing the 5.1.1 firmware would wipe the device or will it be just an upgrade.?Haven't tried flashing an official firmware on top of an official stock (lower version).

It won't wipe your phone data, it will be like an upgrade.
Secondly tripping knox does not mean you will not receive OTA. As long as you are fully stock and when you check the system status in settings and it states 'official' you will receive the OTAs

Thanks! Yep, realize that now. I believe the reason I can't receive OTA is due to the custom recovery I've installed. Will try reverting to stock recovery first to see if I can OTA upgrade. If not, will download the full firmware and flash on ODIN.

The ROM might still consider your device to modified, You may have to flash stock from Odin and then check the status, if it still says modified then a factory reset might be required.

thanks for replying but is it save that flash 4.4.2 via odin and after flash will I receive the official update from samsung?
And one thing, after flashing to 4.4.2 I have to root the phone again or not.???
Thing is, odin 4.3 or other old firmware and then OTA to 4.4.2 , or odin 4.4.2 firmware in the first place, it's same process you have to do but with different firmware.
Yes, if you leave newly flashed firmware untouched.
You will probably have to root again.
You can also choose odin flash recovery and then flash pre-rooted ROM to have everything done in less process

Hello,
Yes it is possible to downgrade from an official Molitor to an official kitkat (the latest).
I do it, when the flash is end and the mobile show the logo Samsung
You can put out the battery, reboot to the recovery and wipe all user data.
Before do that save all your data.
It's an official administrator from Samsung who say me do so.
Hope that can help you.

what do you mean by the kitkat (latest) because not all country have the same latest version.. like in my case my mobile is originally from KSA. and i think its not the latest kitkat out there.

Isn't the bootloader required to flash the ROM?
I'm very afraid of trying stock lollipop. I was on Temasek's CM12 build but I had abysmal batterylife. This was probably not attributed to Temasek's build but rather to CM12 as a whole, so I went back to my nandroid containing Crash Rom V19 on kitkat 4.4.2 and I literally have less than 1% drain per hour with the phone idle. I love this batterylife, and I feel I'd like to try and see if stock lollipop TW will give me the same but I would like the option to go back to kitkat if it's worse. I like lollipop a lot but the promise of batterylife seems to hit and miss, makes me stay on kitkat.
I know Crash Rom has a lollipop version, but beside this, which ROM is the MOST stock with the least amount of modifications?

How to disable towelroot?

Hi guys,
I have the following official rom :I9505XXUFNB88
I only rooted the phone using towelroot with Knox 0x0. However after two years of using it and now loosing my warranty I would like to update my phone to 5.0 or even flash a custom rom 6.0.
Theres a small hiccup, I can't ota any update because it shows me an error when flashing. I bet it has something to do with towelroot.
Do you know how to disable it?
Many thanks!
Download a ROM from sammobile, using the device model, and narrowing down the results by country and carrier. Flash that ROM through Odin, as it will be the latest provided by Samsung. That will upgrade your bootloader and baseband to the latest versions. From there, download the latest TWRP recovery available (link in the AOSP 6.0 thread located in I9505 Original Android Development) and flash that through Odin. Then flash the custom ROM of your choosing.

Safe to upgrade rooted N910C to Marshmallow using official Odin FW?

I have an N910C currently on 5.1.1 with an OXX CSC. A few days ago Samsung finally released an OXX version of Marshmallow, so I'm preparing to upgrade.
Is it safe to simply flash using Odin, then reroot and restore any tweaks? Or is there something nasty hidden in the bootloader (e.g. mandatory dm-verity or signed-kernels-only) that requires flashing in some custom way?
Odin is THE SAFEST and most recommended thing to flash a ROM for a Samsung phone.
But is it safe to flash the unmodified full 6.0.1 ROM from Samsung, including bootloader and everything? Or is there something nasty hidden inside, like a new bootloader lock? I'm asking because that has happened before on Samsungs.

Bootloader is locked in n910c after COJ5. Having that said ypu won't be able to downgrade to Kit Kat
How does one upgrade to 6.01 in the first place? I just bought a note 4 and it seems stuck on 5.1.1. I don't have a PC to use Odin. They haven't pushed MM to the N910C? All my Google searches seem to show up articles of that occurring back in April, but it is not so for my phone.

Looking for Stock Lollipop firmware for SH-i337

Hi, I meant SGH-i337 in the title.
I beleive I posted this in the completely wrong phone section last time, so I am posting this here.
My device model is the SGH-I337. I downloaded Odin version 3.12.3, downloaded the official drivers for the Samsung S4 USB, but I can't seem to find stock Lollipop 5.0.1. SamMobile only gives the 4.x versions for some reason. I started following the below link for a method to at least flash an older firmware to my phone, but I want to flash stock Lollipop. Is there even a way to get Lollipop back without root?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/help/guide-att-samsung-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337-t3383078
I was able to downgrade, but I still need an official stock 5.0.1 firmware. My virus protection says towelroot is a virus, so I don't want to go that route. If I do an OTA upgrade after I flash the old firmware from the above link, will it brick my phone? It's rootable NB1 ROM. I already tried to install the stock 4.x firmware from SamMobile, but that doesn't work, so it seems I need stock Lollipop.
AT&T never released a stock lollipop firmware that can be flashed with Odin. All at&t updates were released ota.

Hi I am running goldeneye custom rom on my i-337 5.0.1 with ok2 kernel. If you go to that forum thread in development, you will find very detailed instructions to get att s4 to 5.0.1 stock. As a side note I can assure you if you just download towel root on your phone, install and run there is no virus of any sort. Make sure you download from towelroot .com
On second look through I don't think there is stock 5.0.1 using safestrap....
