hi there,
finally i found a more easy way to root my z3tc.
it works with out flashing an other firmware and it keeps the drm keys and your bootloader locked.
its not even necessary to wipe the device, so you can keep all our apps an settings.
so here are the steps i did to get root on my z3tc running the latest kitkat stock firmware.
1.) download and install kingroot 4.1 its an oneclick root, similar to towelroot.
take care that it is v4.1+ and not below !!!
2.) install superuser from playstore (just because you well be asked for it in the next step. i use kinguser for granting permissions later)
3.) download an install XZDualRecovery
(choose option 2, install for superuser.)
4.) download and flash (via recovery) SonyRICDefeat
enjoy full root on your device
nvm

i concur with TS.
But be warned that kingroot's SU binary sometimes have issues with granting access to ADB even though you have allowed it by default.
I spent the entire day troubleshooting my friend's tablet trying to root via kingroot, flashing dual recovery and giving it proper root via supersu. needless to say, it was very educational as it was frustrating.
once you ran the bat file for ric defeat, you still need to dl the app called SDfix (by nextapp) to fully write to sdcard. and yes, the sdcard write bug is still there from kitkat!
Hi There,
Does this Method work with Lollipop?
Is it possible to use Supersuser instead of Kinguser to mangage permissions?

Yes works with Lollipop. After running the latest Kingroot (KingRoot-4.1.0.249.apk ), before rebooting I installed dual recovery for locked bootloader. Then rebooted to TWRP and flashed BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip, which will uninstall KingUser on first run.
However I got the XignCode3 error from com2us and gamevil games. So I booted back into TWRP and flashed UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip and everything was peachy.

is there a special reason why you flashed supersu v2.49 first and v2.46 afterwards? i mean flashing just v2.46 would work as well right ?
@frostmore did you use 4.1 ? as far as i understood ric defeat gives you write access to the system on the internal storage on sony devices (for what normally root would be sufficient) and has nothing to do with the kitkat writing limitation on external cards. so you have to use one of the many apps in the store which will fix this. (or do the trick yourself in an xml file) since i installed xposed as well (this was btw the only reason why i wanted root to be able to use app settings again) i did it there.
It works !!!
Finally. Thx a lot.
Worked great on my SGP611. I didn't bother unlocking the bootloader. I performed this on 23.1.A.0.690. I first replaced with SuperSU 2.46, but it seemed to have issues removing KingRoot. I then flashed 2.49 beta, and it removed KingRoot, then I switched back to SuperSU 2.46.
Cheers!
I tried rooting my SGP611 with Android version 4.4.4 and failed. That is when I decided to manually update (flash) it to 5.0.2 with the build number 23.1.A.1.28 (currently the latest version Sony had released). And suddenly the magic happend thanks to KingRoot. On the first try I have successfully rooted my device.
Then, without rebooting, I immediately installed NUT's XDualRecovery via the second method (install on stock modded ROM with superuser).
Next thing I rebooted into TWRP recovery and flashed the latest available BETA version of SuperSU by Chainfire (2.49-BETA).
I rebooted back into system and opened the SuperSU app and removed all the KingRoot apps, updated the 'su' binary with 'Normal' mode in SuperSU and finally rebooted my device again.
The result was satisfying.
At last I have root access on my Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact 16GB Wifi model running Android 5.0.2 with Chainfire's SuperSU, XDualRecovery, Bootloader locked!
I tried RIC defeating my device and wasn't successful. But apperently that's not a big deal because XDualRecovery may have already killed RIC. (Maybe I am wrong(!), so please correct me...)
My favourite apps like AdAway, Titanium Backup, SD Maid and Busybox work flawlessly. And rebooting my device didn't remove my root for now. Well, I have to test it for some days to see if root is permanent.
A big THANK YOU to the KingRoot team.
I tried Rooting my SGP 612 with stock 5.0.2 but got stuck at the first step. Kingroot couldnt root the device succesfully.
Edit: Dont mind the commenct, worked fine on the second try.

i can't root my SGP621 with kingroot 4.1 :crying:
it says "root access is unavailable"
it's on Lollipop 5.0.2
thanks guys
sir, can i root the sameway ?
@stavro this is my device info...thx
i am not the developer of the root method nor do i have experience with rooting (via kingroot) of other devices then mine (sgp611).
its just a list of things i did to get root in a more simpler way then it was already possible before.
i would expect that it works for the sgp621 too since you have same firmware version then i have.
but if you are not sure you better go to the general kingroot thread and see if other people can confirm that root is working for your device.
Do I have to flash XZDualRecovery and SonyRIC Defeat when I only need root?

No issues at all even starting from Lollipop 5.0.2 v23.1.A.0.690 firmware, thank you!
The only thing I can't do is flash RICDefeat patch from recovery (it fails with an error I can't remember), but even without that patch I can read and write \system folder.

It's highly recommended to install
XZDualRecovery to automatically gain the RIC patch. You don't need to flash SonyRIC Defeat if you install the recovery because it's already included.
The question is, what do you want to do with root? Having system R/W access is quite important to actually have a complete root experience.
Chainfire has developed a new SuperSu Update zip, Version 2.60 and newer 2.61.
with using this update zip, you will not need a custom kernel for getting root in future, works fine on F, FY Model on Android 5.1.1 (tested).

Trust me, I've done it without root. I had xposed installed before with root then I flashed the latest stock rom from n915w8 and flashed xposed right after without wiping data and it worked. I guess it was because the xposed modules were already configured but ultimately, I did not root in order to use xposed. The functionality of xposed is increased if you root. This is from my experience
The latest xposed for Samsung probably has some loop hole I'm unaware of that allows you to install it without root.

step 2... Install latest twrp... How can you do that if your phone has never been rooted before?
for my note edge sprint (915p) i used CWM cos twrp didnt work. after flashing supersu said i dont have root access and if i would like to have it. I SELECTED NO. after rebooting once phone booted fine. took a while for supersu to take over things and now its all good

Do you by any chance have the latest twrp (2.8.0.7) in .tar file? I've been lurking around for a while now and I'm not able to find it. I can only find .img and I need Linux to convert it to .tar to be able to Odin. I've lost root and now I can't get it back.

ok now that ive spent more time with it i believe the root i got is incomplete. on many apps supersu dialogue doesnt pop and they dont recognize the phone as rooted. i used titanium backup to try and remove system apps and despite everything going fine the apps didnt go anywhere
UPDATE: problem fixed. I edited the build.prop in /system/ using a build.prop editor and now all my apps are asking for root
In build.prop look for ro.securestorage.support=True and set it to False
Also solves if your phone keeps forgetting the wifi passwords
It works. SM-915F. Just don't forget to off 'reactivation lock' in security tab in androud in order to install TWRP successfuly. Thanks a lot!
No you're right. Twrp is in img format but you can easily convert it to tar using a linux emulator. Took me minutes to convert it to tar. Google "how to convert img to tar. Running twrp fine
Does it work in 915V ??
So,it's strange how the method works on my 915f. For example; Titanium Backup can't remove systems apps. It looks like I have a root, but not fully operated. Any advices?
Does this still trip the knox counter?
I want to root, but I must keep my warranty as this N915F is on my company's name.

Just wondering if anyone was successful in installing xposed framework on the metro version of this phone and making it active? I have looked far and wide and after countless soft bricks and restores I admit defeat. As stated in the title my phone is the metro version of the grand prime android 5.1.1. I am running the trap kernel by Shinyside on this phone along with supersu.
I have followed many tutorials on several different versions of this phone and each one has ended in soft bricking the phone. When you search xposed SM-G530T1 it returns nothing but topics about stock firmware and xposed on the 530H. The only version that didn't soft brick is xposedinstaller 3.0 alpha, yet even after granting root privileges and rebooting I am still greeted with The latest version of Xposed is currently not active.
Edit: Solved using Wanams fix for samsung Link below for his steps to fix

Help me Please.
I have been going through this same problem but the other forum doesn't help as much I have the same phone a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530T1 rinning lollipop 5.1.1 the metro version. Um my rom is custom gwiz I think with a trap kernel l.. I had to install that through flash fire app. Because I can't seem to get CWM or TWRP working on my phone... can you let me know exactly what you did starting with rooting your phone to installing xposed ?:crying: :crying: :crying:

Well first I flashed the stock rom with odin waited for the phone to reboot then I set it up just like you would a new phone. Once it was completed I shut it down and put it back into download mode and flashed the trap kernel located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/development/kernel-root-root-sm-g530t-5-1-1-t3203476
After that was done waited for the phone to reboot then flashed twrp from the g530h with odin . A forum search of TWRP-SMG530H will lead you to the file.
Once I gained root and flashed the recovery I needed to find out what type of cpu this phone was running so I installed droid info from the playstore. The system info shown ARMv7 so I went to the link in my original post and downloaded XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk but did not install it just yet. First I flashed the framework xposed-v85.1-sdk22-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160 with twrp. Once it was done I cleared cache and rebooted. It took the phone about seven mins to boot.
Then installed the apk gave it root permissions rebooted and thats it. Also Note that the twrp version used cant make backups because it was not intended for this phone but it will flash whats needed. After many, I and I mean many failed attempts this was the solution to my problem.
Ok
So you don't have a Custom ROM or is trap Kernel a custom rom... I'm still kind of new to this but I will try
Thank You
Thanks it's now working
Hi!
I've just updated my android from 5.0.2 to 6.0.1 using a firmware from sammobile and lost the root I had previously (super user).
I tried installing from cf-root using the version they already have for 5.0.2 and at first it seemed to have worked, since it started to show my phone device's status as custom, and also to show kernel's status at the black start screen with the logo samsung.
Then, I tried changing an app into a system file using Link2SD and the app vanished instead of working again. When I get to install the .apk again, it shows as an update (of something that is not running anywhere) and don't ask any new permission.
I guess the problem is because of the root I used, but I'm not sure. My mobile is dual sim (brazil's trend...) and the app I'm trying to hide is Cerberus (I have the pro version, disguised, but want to make it "blended" as it was before the Android update).
I did the unroot with the SU app, but my device is still showing as a "custom" one at the system's about (the kernel's status is not appearing at initialization tho).
I want to know what to do to fix that and how to properly root the new android marshmallow. If not possible, I even consider downgrading my phone to the previous android until the root is available (security from thieves first, unfortunately!).
Same Here
Doen anyone know if there is other variant rom we can use in a500M
Wait for CF-AutoRoot

Not the A500M, yet.
Option 1: Flash CTR o TWRP with Odin. Then, flash SuperSU.zip from recovery.
Option 2: Flash CF-AutoRoot (Lollipop version) with Odin.
PS: If you want more options antitheft, you can use Xposed and GravityBox or Advanced Power Menu modules to disable the Power-Off menu when the screen is locked.
Good Luck
So I can use your "Option 1" to root my device with 6.0.1 even if it's a 5.0.2 method? (I just want to make sure to not brick my phone).
alright im thinking of doing system-less root with xposed using magisk (yes im a pokemon goer thats ticked off from its new update) just wanting to know what would be the best way to go about this. If it is possible. currently im running GoldenEYE rom android 5.0.1 dont have fastboot so i already know i have alot of work in Odin to do. would love to have CM12.1 running with a systemless root but last time i tried to even get CM12.1 loaded it never worked.
So anyidea if this is possible or not. (yes i do have stock roms at the ready from when i put on my current rom along with root methods)
You don't have to do anything in Odin.
All you need is TWRP.
Then follow the Magisk instructions.
Unroot, uninstall Xposed (if present), flash Magisk zip, flash phh root zip, download phh superuser app and Magisk manager app.
well that sucked. now have the dreaded unauthorized soft ware. found a way around it to get phone booted. going into download mode then cancel out restarting phone from there.
So I tried this exact thing two days ago because I have an S4 with the Goldeneye rom installed, and unfortunately got these results
I opened up superSU and did a full unroot, after
I deleted the xposed that was installed (v86 by dlc) using the uninstaller through TWRP.
Next I flashed magisk v6 zip along with the phh superuser zip, and ended up in a bootloop..
The phone wouldnt pass the boot animation, so i uninstalled magisk, and reflashed superSU
On my end its not working, mate.

As far as I know, systemless stuff works only on Android 6 and above.
Goldeneye is a TouchWiz ROM, therefor it's android 5.
Magisk works on Touchwiz 5.0
Magisk works on android 5.0 touchwiz. Im using lenny bard stock HPG1 rom and PoGo works perfectly
Sure you can do it. i have gt-i9500 variant with 5.1.1 port tw android. magisk work when i want to play pokemon go. the only problem i have now is the systemless xposed not working as expected.
I am under the impression I am not able to get TWRP on mine because its the later version with locked bootloader.. what options are there.. Currently Download Graded to 4.4.4 to use towel root and installed Flashfire so i can install Safestrap
