HI - posted this in the question thread, but didn't get any help;
I have an i9505 and have rooted it to use with a Pioneer Appradio and ARunchained
All works perfectly, except MHL drains the battery faster than it charges via a 2A charger. I've been pointed towards a fast charge kernel as the solution to my issue, but the threads for the head unit online are all a couple of years old, so the kernels and roms are all now out of support.
Can anyone point me toward a kernel and rom (if a rom is essential too?) that supports MHL and fastcharge? (i've been warned away from Cyanogen because of MHL issues)
Thanks!
Hi - resurrecting this, as I've now been pointed towards this kernel, which is supposed to work well for the use I need - MHL out and Fastcharge.
[KERNEL] [INT'L][AOSP/TW/GE - 5.0/4.4/4.3/4.2][04/06/2015] KT-SGS4 - NAE - KTweaker
can anyone point me towards a ROM that will work with this kernel and has working MHL out? I'v been warned away from Cyanogen Roms for this reason previously.
thanks.

So, I finally bought an HDMI cable for My EVO, but when I did some research Most Kernels Do not support HDMI Output..!!!!
FML RIght!!!
so, I was wondering.....................
Which Kernels support HDMI Output while not sacrificing most of the Benefits of having a Custom Kernel..
I am currently running Netarchy Toastmod 4.1.9.1
I would greatly Appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction!

If you are using one of my kernel builds you already have hdmi output support.
I am Using your Kernel !! Love it by the way!!
Just that whenever I hook up my cable to my Phone nothing happens?????
Is it the Rom thats causing this then??? im using Virus Rom Sense RC3
if So, how can I fix this?
HDMI output doesn't work for every function on the phone, only certain ones. So you won't get your home screen on your HDMI TV, for instance.
Slideshow, YouTube and gallery video will play over hdmi. Nets roms all support hdmi except the fresh compatible cfs 4.1.9.1 does not do Slideshow. If you flash that first and then flash anything else other than the stock kernel Slideshow still won't work.
I was Using Netarchy 4.1.9.1 but when I connected the HDMI cable. Nothing popped up in the homescrean showing that I had connected an HDMI Cable to the Phone.. its like if nothing happened!
So i bought the usb adapter and tried to connect a 360 wireless controller with it. I saw a video on youtube claiming 360 wireless pc receiver can be directly connected to motorola xoom and recognised, the wireless controller was then connected without problem. But when i tried this on g tab 10.1 it just don't work, always told me unknown usb device connected. Does it mean i have to find a driver for this device? How come xoom can detect it without problem?
I'm using star burst rom. Could anyone tell me what i should do to make it work?

Think you need a kernel with the 360 module loaded, like Pershoots kernel. Seems like Samsung didn't include those drivers, which is weird because one of the new features in Honeycomb 3.1 was support for input devices like game controllers.

Pershoot's kernel released today just added support for the UX ROM. I just flashed Pershoot's kernel on my tab running Starburst and it runs great.

which kernel did you flash? I will be flashing starburst again and do this all again.
Just go to the thread and flash the latest from droidbasement, the reason your tab get getting bricked is because pershoot hadn't released the proper kernel yet, I'm running the latest and its awesome + Game controllers work =)
Hi all.
I'm real surprised that more kernel devs (apart from ziddey/franko) haven't released otg versions.......... Or have they and I'm just not aware if them??
I'm after something faster than ziddey/Franko
Cheeers

Because for the most part USB-OTG is broken on the Nexus 4, you'd have to have a portable power pack and a split cable to power the device you're plugging into it. Where as on a Nexus 7, you can just plug it in straight via a OTG cable, can't on the Nexus 4.
It's a hardware fault (or design per se) by google/lg themselves.
That is because there is only really ziddey who has been working on otg support.
And at this stage his implementation is still very dirty. (Not to knock him or anything, he is making good progress)
But presently there are issues with correctly detecting an otg device. Meaning certain chargers are been confused as otg devices. Which then doesn't charge the phone. Amongst other issue which put off kernel Devs from merging it.
I'm sure he will get there in the end though

I've been using ziddeys with y-cable & 5v battery pack with awesome results.
I'm currently using (& loving the speed & smoothness) matr1x kernel but have to jeep swapping between the two kernels.
As much as I love the franko based ziddey kernel its not as quick as matr1x.
Both awesome kernels though : )
Also I know mathkid is working on making matr1x otg : )
Hi all,
I'm back to using cm11 after tinkering with cm12 nightly's and am pretty content.
I installed the Ktoonez kernal last night and added a few different profiles to try out as I'm not one to twesknindiviual settings myself.
I added the ktoonzified v2 and wow my battery life has increased ten fold and i also think the performance has increased. I am so stoked as this was a bit annoying previously swapping batteries all the time or using the device while plugged in to charge.
Anyway one thing i would like to know is what is up with the IR blaster not working? Its not a huge issue but before root I was using a Samsung remote app (not samsung stock) as the TVs in my house are mainly samsung. I've come to live with the fact that NFC is not operational and the kernal tweaks seem to have turned it off rather than greyed out and on in settings so this doesnnot seem to affect the battery as much as before.
If someone with more experience than myself (which wouldn't be much) could explain to me why it is not working, if I have done something to cause it to not work or if there is a fix. Is it a known issue with flashing cyanogen ROMs on galaxy s5 klte.
I can definitely live without it but I would just like to know a bit more about why this issue occurs as I can't seem to find any info what so ever about others having the same issue.
Cheers.
Hello community from XDA
I recently got an S4 GT-I9505 from my sister because I needed to return my last phone. I never really had a Samsung before and I don't really hate it atm but also don't quite like it yet. I am looking for a rom that can support wii mote pairing without a bluetooth adapter(something that stopped working from 4.2+). So I either need something like a trimmed stock 4.1 rom or something that can actually support pairing with wiimotes. I also would like better battery life because it seems to drain the battery really fast. I was browsing the internet with almost no brightness at all and I lost 20% in 30 min and mind you I have no extra app running its pretty much stock lolipop. I hope you guys can reccomend me some roms or if there is any trimmed 4.1 stock rom for the s4.
Time to do some reading and flashing from the development sections to find a ROM that suits your personal tastes
We can't suggest a ROM as our requirements will be different to yours
