I am having a rooted samsung grand prime. I installed roehsoft ram booster in it. But whenever i try to create swap file in external or internal memory it gives the error of invalid argument. It only installs swap in cache memory which is only 300 MB. Can someone help me solve this problem. I dont have partitioned sd card and dont want to partition it. Moreover is it good to have swap file of 200 mb in cache.

Hey, look
Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime doesn't support Roehsoft Ram Expander or Booster
Sometimes it says it works, but after all it doesn't do the job that's supposed to do
And you're welcome :

Yep, I tried it couple of times. It seems after setting up ram expander it just makes the device slow and laggy, even after uninstall the dullness remains.

Mine Galaxy 3 lags a lot and sometimes took ages to load applications. Due to this I sometimes miss calls also because it shows black screen while receiving a call. What could be reason- loads of apps installed? Less Free space? Wrong Firmware Installed?
I am using Kyrillos V5.5 Non OC ROM. It was fine when I newly installed firmware and no apps were installed. Maybe less free space on memory card could be reason? I have 70+ MB free space in phone memory but 20+ in MC.
Please Help.
If you partition your sdcard (with an sdcard lower than 6class), your phone will lag. If you install more apps => more lag
Thanks, would you recommend a good SD Card? I am currently using the one which came with G3.

I am on indroid 4.3 with fugmod kernel 2.4 beta 3 and a 4GB class 4 card partitioned with 1gb ext4. There are around 70 apps installed on my ext4 partition and still the ROM is superfast. no lags at all. Have to say an app called Auto Memory Manager also helped me a lot.
I am tired of using link2sd, and low memory of x8.
Is it possible to make effective swap file for x8?
That will give ability to install everything in ram, and then it will be moved to swap, so no linksd is needed.
Also all software which need more than 90 mb of free memory can get that memory becouse system lib will be moved to swap file.
As i know guys from Cyagen made even support for it, but it should be activated.
Is any rom builder can add swap support to their roms?
1. Supposed be in general section
2. We have native app2sd or you can go to cyanogenmod settings then go to applications then select install to external memory.
Hope i help

Not unless the bootloader is cracked.

The swap file does not work that way. Swap is used to augment the RAM. The X8 has:
1. RAM space - memory to run programs in. ~176MB
2. ROM space - Internal Storage - ~212 MB
3. External Storage - Your SD Card.

You can, theoretically, use up your entire RAM to run an app. The Android System, has a "smart (???, others might disagree )" way fo handling tasks in which it "caches" background apps until they are called again. Although this is also periodically cleared. But some apps are required to stay in RAM, these are responisible for keeping your phone working.
Google "Android VM manager " and the "Android Memory Manager" if you want to learn more.
In short, having a larger RAM or using a swap file will just "imrpove" multitasking performance. notice that i put the word "improve" in qoutes.
Honestly, I've tried on Froyobread v015, and it lagged the whole rom down like sh!t >.<. After removing it was I able to have a decent fps. You can try it for yourself by using swapper on the android market or CWM recovery .

Did you verify it was working. Open up the terminal app and type in "free" without th quotes. It would show you the disposition of your RAM. if swap is zero then its not working.

Can Samsung galaxy y have a increase of Rom and internal memory or just Rom and have the latest android KitKat 4.4 ? plz help
You cannot increase internal memory but you can link apps to sd to free up your internal memory.
And for ram you can use swap as in a pc..
And as for kitkat probably not until Broadcom relaeses cpu and gpu sources.....
If helped please hit :good: 'thanks'.........

Dont get your hopes up. Galaxy y GT-s5360 probably wont get the update but galaxy y gt s6310 will
HnnnnnnnnmnHmmmmmmmmGpuuuuuuuuuuuuu
You cannot increase your ROM (the place where your stock/custom ROM is installed). But you can increase internal memory and RAM.
You can use Link2SD to move apps to SD card. Or use Force2SD(check it on play store).
To increase RAM you can use swap.(it decreases memory cards life)

It is impossible to increase internal memory from the phone. Instead you can borrow some from sd card.
Your phone must be rooted.
Make a second partition in your sd card and use private apps such as link2sd, app2sd, etc to move the apps to that second partition.
Also set the install location to sd card.
You can use swap partition to speed up your phone.
But it will shorten your sd card's life.
Feel free to PM me. I will always be there to help.
Press thanks if I have helped you.
@DeniablySam: Samsung Galaxy Young GT S6310 will be one of the last devices to get the Android Kitkar 4.4 update and it can atleast take a year. So keep no hopes for that phone.

what you are saying noob, there is data2sd amarullz script, ad2sd, int2ext... you have a million posibilities to increase your internal memory

none of these increase internal memory - internal memory is a hard drive - it has a fixed size it cannot be increased
look at the names of the scripts you have mentioned - some have sd in the name - thats the clue - they free up internal memory by either moving or linking files to sd card
you are using your sd card as virtual internal memory - you are not actually increasing physical internal memory

Can't you read what I have mentioned??
Only the manufacturers can increase the memory in the phone. You can just get some storage from sd card.
And you know what the scripts does?? It just mainly uses/optimises your sd card. Just Google it if you want to know.
Read before you post.
Now you are the one showing as a noob. Read before you post.

to be technically and symantically correct your're increasing the total available internal memory - physical which never changes + virtual which is on sd card

Np man.
No
Rom and internal memory can not be increased because these are hardwares. But you can increase internal memory by amarullz script. You need at least 8 GB microSD card.
im sayng this in firs comment...
Now im using gt-i9082 with 4gb rom storage did any thing problem with my device or its just 4gb model because i see many people have 8gb rom storage

I think 4 gb is system reserved. Its required for rom to work
Ur phone is having 8gb Internal memory, but only 4 gb available for Apps & Data. Remaining 4gb is reserved by system.

See relating our Grand It has 8GB storage out of which 4Gb is system reserved and 4Gb is User Accessible. the 4Gb System memory will be hidden and will be used only for system purpose and it will occupied everytime that is 4Gb is alloted only to System u cant do anything to it. It has ROM , Recovery and other partitions which are vital to your phone. This can be seen when you Root your mobile. but don't touch that unless ur familiar what your doing or can create havok particularly efs.img were IMEI is stored. So don't access or modify it without knowledge of what you are doing...
CM11 based on 4.4.4 is great...but I dont think that the 4GB of missing memory is actually used by the system. I googled about it and many people have been complaining about missing internal memory on CM11 so I guess its a CMish problem..
