sigh let's start the horror story. So I rooted my verizon LG G2 (VS980) phone yesterday using this guide:
http://theunlockr.com/2013/10/25/root-lg-g2-versions-video/
I found that pretty easy so i decide to then be more adventurous and load cyanogenmod 10.2 on my phone since I heard it was officially on nightly release for verizon phones. So then i came across this youtube video explaining how to do this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s3eO-jvNWk
I make 3 mistakes in this process:
1. i don't do the settings part
2. i don't wipe the phone
3. and most importantly i download the wrong cyanogenmod 10.2 version. I put the 802 international version on it instead of the verizon version.
Now my phone is stuck with fastboot with a black screen.
I can go into download mode and have tried the following guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
In this one it gets stuck at 49% loading when i use the verizon version
the second:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
here when i start to load it says my device is the wrong model because i loaded the wrong cyanogenmod
Now that i know why my phone wouldn't load the verizon rom (because i had cyanogenmod 802 international). I have successfully loaded the stock 802 rom on my phone. the bad part is the touch screen is all wacky and i can't get into setting to go into developer mode and finally fix my phone.
Any ideas on where i can go from here? If i could just get into developer mode i can restore everything by loading TWRP then loading the cyanogenmod for verizon.
Just an idea, but maybe you could use a mouse via OTG in the meantime.

thanks i didnt know i could use a mouse. I will try to find a cable that will allow me to do that.
I was able to help a few peeps with the same prob get back to stock. Pm me if you need help.
some updates.
I didn't get the mouse to help me around the touch screen. I just memorized where all the new locations where for example the middle of the screen clicked the bottom left
I have been able to get this european 820 stock ROM running on my verizon phone and have it in debugging mode.
All the other flash methods are failing me because i get "different model" error.
I'm currently trying to update my build.prop file so i can get the other flash methods to work since this is the file they are looking at to see if it's ok to flash with the rom you have select. Personally i find that kinda silly. I mean i'm flashing the thing give me an option that say "are you sure you want to do this? you are about to flash your phone with an compatible rom". Yes i'm aware i put the wrong rom on the thing now flash my phone with this one.
Oh it would be great if someone out there could post me their verizon build.prop. Would really appreciate that.
update
don't change the build.prop model number to VS-980. my phone is now in a reboot cycle.
I can get into download mode but i fear that i still won't be able to flash with the right rom because that build.prop is wrong. can i skip this verification step?
I also have twrp running but again it's the European version so the touch screen doesn't work properly. i can't swipe across to do anything even if i wanted to.
I would just do this and start over...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960

I can't help myself, I have to speak up..
nothing against the OP BUT this is exactly why I DO NOT try to do this stuff. There's really no benefit that the stock ROM on this phone cannot do...and more...and I read so many reports of people turning their beautifully working phones into little black plastic paper weights. Simply not worth the trouble, time, and possible money :silly: to get a little more screen space, or a smaller NAV bar, or whatever.
And then so many people want KIT-KAT...WHY? Will it REALLY be that much better than what this thing can do now? Or will it just introduce BUGS like every other update always does to an android device? If, and when this phone gets an update to KIT-KAT or whatever version they decide upon, and it actually works without new bugs, then I will be pleasantly surprised. Here we have what just might be the best android phone to land on earth so far, and people want to "improve" it??? My $0.02

Totally unnecessary to make this post. Unless you have something to contribute regarding the prob at hand, please keep your opinion to yourself. The point of these forums is to ask questions and provide help when possible. If you wish to voice you're opinion, I suggest you start your own thread.

I can't speak to everyone else's why but I do it because I'm an engineer and here is what i mean by that. Ever since I was a little kid I would mess around with stuff even though I had no clue what i was doing. I remember the first time I took apart a stereo was because our living stereo broke (the CD player wouldn't play anymore and that's what it was used for mostly). I told my mom not to throw it away so I could see if I could fix it. I was maybe 10 at the time so of course she knew i couldn't possibly fix but she let me. In the end I couldn't fix it (hell i had screws left over) but it was just fun looking around and exploring. As I grew I still kept doing the same thing, taking things apart and explore. Sometimes I can improve the thing I took apart other times I completely break it but most of the time I can just put it back the way it was originally. That's my why.

Sounds like my childhood and I'm an engineer aswell.
Software to me is pure magic, but I'm very happy there's people that can code Roms.
Good luck mate.
Once you fix your phone and it's back to stock it will feel better than sex.
Keep stock for a couple of days and that itching feeling of "i need to do something with this" is gonna come creeping back

Just try searching in Q & A thread. Maybe search "brick"? Read everything you can read. I'll help and comeback when i see it.
Try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534511&highlight=brick
Same issue. Fastboot mode.

I am horribly confused as to why you are an XDA member. :-/
Support your Devs......
I'm having the same problem and haven't been able to get it to work. As soon as I flash the stock d802 (my phone is really d803 but I had a d802 custom rom on it before) the touch screen goes all weird and my phone keeps restarting.
Hey guys and gals of XDA, I'm new. My name is Brandon, I have an LG G2. And I have some problems. My first problem is I have a D803. (canadian)
I will tell you guys in short what I want and would appreciate it GREATLY if ya'll could help me out.
1 ) Acquire noob guide to CustomROMing, recovering, and all that gibber gabber. I rooted my phone because it was extremely easy and debloated it using Titanium backup already. I literally have NO idea what i'm doing, I've tried to read through guides but I always get stumped considering i'm using a d803 and the backup program thing didn't recognize my phone.I'm not asking ya'll to sit here and pour all your knowledge to me, just a link would be cool. Although if someone wants to do that it'd be appreciated.
2 ) I want a Nexus5. But I want my G2, physically. lol. long story short I love the stock google feel of a nexus5, I've tried launchers but I can't find any ones that have transparent bars. So, instead i've stolen the nexus background and emulated the look as much as I can. I'm having a hard time finding any support for the d803 that has the Nexus 5 look , Hoping ya'll can help me on that. I found a Paranoid Android one but I don't know how to actually get it onto my device so I gave up.
3 ) More of a question; If I succeed in custom rom'ing my phone, do I lose all 'normal' G2 functions? As in Quickmemo, Slide aside, Knock on, etc? Quickmemo is extremely important for me as a tech salesman being able to write down SKUs real quick and not all over my hands is awesome. But I would be willing to part with it. Knockon, not so much.
More info that may or may not be relevant:
>D803
>Debloated using titanium backup
>Rooted
>32gb black
>access to a computer
So, in closing, I guess i'll sum this post up in a word. Sorry. I seen the intro video to XDA and about how im the devil if I ask a question that's been asked before, and I know this probably has. But it doesn't have the info i'm looking for. Anyone who can just throw me some links in one consolidated place so I have a set starting point, information and a goal, gets a gold star from me.
Thank you for listening to me. Appreciate any and all help in advance.
-Brandon

^^ I've noticed the 4.4 roms are advancing at a nice pace for the G2, give it some time.. I tried some of the earlier 4.4 builds that I couldn't deal with the instability, but I've been running one of the later ones for the last week with very very few issues, so the best of both worlds is hopefully, rapidly approaching.
Hey guys from XDA, I joined this forum a while back to download the S6 port firmware to S4, as I rooted my phone during that period and was excited to try out new things: I wanted to talk to the developer (Albe95) about some question, since I was (and still am) a bit afraid that any mistake would make my phone a useless brick.
Things went smoothly, he helped me and I thanked him for that, playing with my new ROM. Eventually I stopped browsing XDA but I came back to ask this, since a lot of people talk good about you guys.
After a couple of months I wanted to try out the famous CyanogenMod, which looked really cool and, since I knew what to do already, installed it with no problems whatsoever.
What to say? It's actually stable but I want to make my phone new again at the same time.
Now, my phone has a few problems which I'm aware of, but I don't know any fix to them, so here's a few questions that I'd appreciate if you could answer them.
N°1: when I first rooted my phone I remember I flashed a rooted stock rom (I vaguely remember that, so I might be wrong) whom Android version was 5.0.1 to root it. After done such, I noticed the rear camera (the one mostly used to take selfies, hehe) would crash whenever I switch to it in the Camera app. I just went on with it since I'm not really a selfie-obsessed kind of person but still I don't mind the occasional mirror . After a while, I installed the firmwares I listed above and I still get those problems. I'm afraid that it might be due some hardware-level problem, and I need to get it to any technichan/support center or try and fix it myself, perhaps buying the kit for the rear camera complete of screwdrivers and other parts. So, is there anything I can do, software-ly, to fix it? If not, what's the best option I have? Would it be hard to eventually fix/replace the camera?
N°2: ever since I bought this telephone (from mid-2013, the year it released), due to various falls/smashes etcetera its silver part (of which I'm not aware of its proper name) is damaged, some small parts are even gone and it just ruins the phone's look. I have no issue with that, but is it possible to replace it, and if it is, can you tell me its proper name (so I can buy it online and eventually try and replace it by myself)? If you still didn't get what part I'm talking about, I'll be glad to clarify. I'm not a native speaker, so I guess that you might find some trouble with my grammar or spelling.
N°3: whenever I start the phone, I always read the following text, coloured in red and yellow: "KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING - Set Warranty Bit : kernel". I know I rooted my phone ergo I violated KNOX's counter, but is there anyway to just remove that party? It's a bit annoying also.
Well, thank you guys for reading and I hope you have a nice day!
1) Flashing an actual stock rom might fix your problem.
2) I think it's called bezil. Bezel and midframe also works. It can be replaced.
3) There is no way to remove it, except by using official firmware.
Thanks man, really appreciated! About the third answer though, just to clarify, you mean stock rom by official firmware right?

Yes, I mean the stock touchwiz rom that Samsung made.
Any modification to the bootloader (like flashing a recovery) will give you that message. It's basically like a warning.

Thanks a lot mate, you helped me a lot. Have a good day!
Hi everyone. I did the dirtysanta root, went great, flashed the us996 deox rom, great again, but on neither the us996 nor the stock ls997(im sprint) the camera app is broke. Kind of. When i launch it the views are switched. When in selfie it uses my back camera and vise versa. Now i can install another camera app to work around it so its not a huge deal, but i like the stock v20 camera app. I dont know how or even if its fixable. Any help will be of use. Thanks to all who help in advance. Ps. If in wrong section im sorry, never posted before, please just let me know.
Same here...
Eager to see if there's a way to fix...hadn't realized how much I used the camera!!!:crying:
Weird how it's crapped out like that, never heard of that before on any phone.
@raenemaker are you on the same variant, ROM and network as the OP? You'll stand more chance getting help if you include as much info as possible.
