I have a rooted Nexus 10 with 5.0 on it. I have made no changes the underlying aspects of the os. For all intents and purposes it is stock.
I am staying at a hotel that offers its guests free wifi. You have to connect to the wifi and then open the browser for the splash screen and login info. The wifi signal is very strong.
When I try to login using my Nexus 10 both chrome and firefox give me a "timed out" error and never connect. I have both a windows laptop and a Galaxy S5 that work just fine. The galaxy is NOT rooted.
To verify that it was the network causing the issue, I set my phone as a hotspot and tried it. It worked fine.
Everything I have done below has failed.

* I found another forum that suggested the clearing of the Google Services Framework Cache. I noticed that it never was above 12kb and clearing it did not change it.
I am here all week and REALLY want to use it.
When I posted this issue this morning my nexus would not connect to the wifi. I took my tablet with me and left it in my car in a bag for the day. Got back to my room, pulled it out, woke it up and it connected just fine. I do notice i have an ! next to the wifi signal but it works.
inop again
And now this morning (Tuesday), it is not working again. This is very frustrating.

Seem to have started having issues, but only started today.
Using Codename android rom 3.3.0
Anyone have any ideas on how to force it to happen etc.
Tried rebooting my router, but seems to be the same,
Have you tried Force closing the services under settings, apps, running, Google Services , then try syncing your GMail or logging into Gtalk to restart it
Ill have a look. rebooted my device several times and rebooted the router too.
I dont use Gtalk or Gmail. Just cant access the play store!
Wiped all the google apps data and cache. Seems to be fine now
Hi all,
I'll come straight out with it, I have an issue I'm finding hard to debug and was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what to do next.
I'm using a Nexus 4 with android 4.2.2 (JDQ39) and Kernal 3.4.0-perf-g7ce11cd
The issue occurs via my home WIFI connection only.
Downloading apps on google play store results in package invalid.
Sync with Google Currents gives the vague error "An error has occurred, please try again"
Browsing seems largely unaffected, there is definitely an internet connection to the phone
*However*
When connected via 3G or when connected to works wifi none of the above occurs.
Both work & home wifi use the same technology, Apple Time capsules hooked up to broadband modems.
I also have a nexus 7, running 4.2.2 and this works fine on the same home wifi.
My previous phone running 4.1 also worked using this same home wifi connection.
After hunting around I have tried the following
* Removing data & cache from google play store
* Removing data & cache from google play services
* Removing data & cache from google services framework
* Giving my phone a nickname on google play
* Factory reset
* Removing and readding my google account
* Opening up gtalk before and after removing my google account
* Open WIFI with a simple 1 word network name
* Asking it politely to just work with my home wifi
Does anyone have any ideas? or even just some comforting words would be nice :crying:
Thanks
Rob
I would flash a custom rom
Good morning,
For my Galaxy S4, my Gmail and Playstore apps are not connecting when I turn WIFI on. They will only work with 3G/4G data. Everything else works fine except apps that require a Google account. Browser works fine with WIFI. Games that require a connection work fine with WIFI. Whatsapp works fine with WIFI. Pretty much everything except Google works fine with WIFI.
I have tried:
Disabling the firewall.
Clearing Google Play cache and data
Clearing Gmail cache and data
Deleting my Google account from my phone and starting over
Deleting Google Play Store app and installing a new one from a .apk file.
None of the above has worked. Everything was connected fine with WIFI until about 2 weeks ago. Not sure what happened. Any suggestions?
Thanks
It's a Google issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44555985

Are you rooted and on a custom rom. Only had this issue on GE/Aosp. Have you tried reformatting your sdcards. Carefully and correctly of course.
Yours problem sounds different if you are not getting the Package Failed message--

I'm rooted and still with the stock rom. Do you mean formatting the external sdcard? That one is empty. Or did you mean doing a factory reset?
Thought about formatting internal card. Back it up first. Something I do when all else fails. Still may be the Google issue others are having. I read something about clearing caches and data like you did to include Google framework. Then reboot to recovery and clear both caches. Then reboot.

Just did a Wipe Data/ Factory reset from Recovery and still nothing. Google just refuses to connect when WIFI is turned on.

I had done that previously and it's not the router. I didn't work with any WIFI connection.
I just fixed it by installing a brand new firmware from this page: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/. I think my phone might have had a messed up version because my Baseband version was different from the ones on that page by 1 letter. So I just picked one close enough and flashed it and it works now. Still don't know how Google not wanting to connect with WIFI on is related to having a different Baseband version of Android, but it works so I'm happy.
bro you are gonna thank me for this
[FIX]
few and simple steps
clear the data for play store
turn off your wifi
go to settings accounts
remove the google account
then add the account again and reboot
after you reboot
turn on your wifi
BEFORE YOU TRY TO OPEN THE PLAY STORE
go to PLAY NEWSSTAND WAIT FOR IT UNTIL IT LOADS
now you can test ur playstore
So I updated to NC1 and rooted and went on with my ricing as usual but I ran into this unusual problem after about a week. Keep in mind I did not change any settings anytime close to before this happened. Apps like Facebook, Twitter, eBay, Paypal, and even the Play Store stopped working over wifi but others did such as my chanu, Craigslist, email, etc. If I go to Twitter, Facebook, eBay, etc. through Firefox everything works properly but not in the apps themselves. If I disable wifi everything works fine off of 4g.
Here are some of the things I tried in order
- rebooted device
- cleared cache of applications with issues
- booted into recovery cleared my whole cache partition
- uninstalled apps but even Play Store wont work over wifi so I had to load it up in Firefox then reinstalled
- forgot wifi network and re connected
- restarted modem
- tried with the internet at my sisters house when I was over a few days ago and still did not work. She has a note 3 and everything worked properly for her
So at this point I was willing to try anything. I rebooted my device without my SD card just for the sake of desperate troubleshooting. When I booted into it all my active logins were gone. I tried logging into my twitter and it returned an error but not an error like before just saying my network connection wasn't working properly it said something along the line of "Unknown Hosts file"
Now I am fairly familiar with the GNU/Linux system (running Arch Linux for over a year) but I cannot think of a reason why my hosts file could have been modified on my device. Even if it was modified why it would bring issues like this? Shouldn't default to my Routers DNS server then?
Do you have adblock app running?

It was running originally but I disabled it and changed my network setting back to not use 127.0.0.1 as a proxy and the issue was still there. I probably should have mentioned this above. Really not looking forward to it but I feel like I am going to have to flash back and start all over with my ricing/settings.
[EDIT1]Alright I just uninstalled it completely and set my proxy setting to none and still have the issue. I am going to clear my cache partition with it uninstalled and see what happens.
[EDIT2]Well what do you know it worked after I rebooting and cleared my cache partition. I think it was more of the fact of rebooting then clearing the cache. Going to go ahead a give you a thanks for reminding me about adblock, I just kind of ruled it out as an issue when I disabled it the first time. Cheers!
Hi Guys,
I ran into this issue two days ago. I am unable to connect to Play Store using Wifi over Note 4 and S4.
Play Store works using Mobile data (Virgin Media) for both devices. I can use internet as normal using wifi but Play Store doesn't work over Wifi. So far i have tried this;
1- Clear Cache and Data for Play Store.
2-Cleared Cache for Google Play Services and framework.
3- Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache via Recovery
4-Flashed two different roms (Simplerom and BoBCat Rom)
5- installed latest Play Store apk
6- Change time and Date from Automatic to Manual.
7- Turned Plane mode, turned Wifi on Rebooted Phone then Opened Play Store.
8- Change Channels on Wifi router and restarted Modem etc
After all this still no success.
Spoke to ISP providers (Virgin Media), I have Superhub 2 which has wifi 2g and 5g and Belkin Router. I have tried both no Success.
Virgin were convinced that it was Note 4, after telling them that its the same on S4, they are looking into it. I asked them if equipment is faulty. They said internet works only Playstore is the problem, no need to change the equipment.
I have tried everything not sure what else I can do. Any Suggestions?
That's very strange.
If it had been just one device, I would have suggested a firewall on the device might be blocking the WiFi connection to GP, but allowing cellular data to pass.
Can you gain access to the Google account that's associated with GP via WiFi?
The only other suggestion I can make is create a Nandroid backup in Recovery.
Factory reset the device and check you can access GP.
Then restore or decide to start again, depending on the result.
Over Wifi GP doesn't connect using mobile browser. I did factory reset also still no sucess. I can access GP using PC. Its only when I am using wifi when i get time out error.
