Upgrade from 4.3 with root - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So currently my note 3 is running android 4.3, has root, and I believe has an unlocked boot-loader. Otherwise stock Rom and Recovery.
My question is what can or can't I do to update my phone to a newer version of android while maintaining root.
On a side note anyone know if newer android versions improve BLE support? It's practically non-existent on 4.3
Thanks in advance.

Should I be updating the bootloader for 4.4 KitKat ROMs?
The tablet thread says yes because one would miss some of the 4.4 improvements. If this is true for Android, then would I not need to do the update on my S4 or does the Dev include this in their ROMs?

Questing about downgrading Kitkat 4.4.2 to JellyBean 4.3

Hi everyone,
I have a Galaxy S4 that is a Canadian version (SGH-i337m).
It is currently running Android Kitkat 4.4.2 (Latest Update) - Stock Android.
As I do not like it, has so many buys and seems a battery killer, I was wondering am I able to downgrade to JellyBean 4.3?
Things you need to know about my device;
It is currently KNOX void 0x1
I have downloaded an official Android JellyBean 4.3 that is the stock to this phone
Is it possible to downgrade at this point? I do not want to install a cusom rom, I want to install the official JellyBean 4.3 that I have
If it is possible, can someone please tell me how?
Thank you

[Q] Verizon Note 3 Root Question

Hello!
I am currently running the latest Verizon of android 4.4.4 on my Verizon note 3. As far as I am aware there is no root for 4.4.4.
Is it possible to flash back to android 4.4.2, then perform one of the older methods of rooting?
Thank you for the assistance!

Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Unfortunately, No. From what I understand, Verizon has "blacklisted" older versions so the bootloader prevents flashing anything older than 4.4.4. I believe you can flash either of the current 4.4.4 ROMS, but that is of little help.

I can confirm this; just had this happen to me and trying to flash anything other than a 4.4.4 stock ROM failed in Odin.
I've been a customer of VZW for 14 years, and I'm so fed up with this locked bootloader war with them that I'm seriously considering jumping ship. Always been happy with everything except this locked bootloader BS.

Newbie requesting help to upgrade from 4.2.2 to Lollipop

Hello,
I have a rooted i337 with MDL baseband, running stock 4.2.2 firmware. I am currently out of the US and therefore cannot receive any OTA. I want to upgrade to Lollipop or Marshmallow based custom ROMs, esp those that can still use the IR feature of the S4.
Can anyone guide me on how I do this upgrade, without bricking my phone? Would truly appreciate your help. Thanks.
Have you tried running ota updates via wifi without a SIM card in the phone.
To run a custom rom, you would need to install a custom recovery to flash the rom. Some mm and LP ROMs may not work with a 4.2.2 modem and bootloader.
If you want to use a custom ROM, DO NOT take any OTA updates. If you take an OTA and it is successful, then you will no longer be able to install a custom ROM.
Here is the Cyanogenmod thread to install CM to your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3008609
If you would like to update to official ATT/Samsung lollipop(there is also a way to have root)[remember, once you take an official update from MDL, then you will no longer be able to install a custom ROM and you may never be able to get Marshmallow]: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2926642

S5 AT&T (G900A)Best Stable Rom?

which is the best rom for Samsung S5 AT&T (G900A)regarding Battery Backup and Stability?
currently m at android 5.0 with a lot of ATT application (perhaps stock rom)
if you're on 5.0, you should probably take the system update to the latest version. I can't remember if 6.0 is out for ATT, but I know 5.1 has been available for a while.
AT&T phones have an encrypted bootloader (since 5.0), so I'm not even sure you could flash a custom rom on that phone.
so no chance for installing some good custom rom?
