Will our device, the Nexus 7 v1, get the official Androidd 4.4, KitKat upgrade?

I'm pretty sure that even the GNex will get it. Google will continue to update any Nexus devices that have enough HW.

Oh hell yeah. Adding on to that statement, you also realize that Android 4.4 KitKat is supposed to be supporting older devices and be hardware friendly. Sure it'll come to the Google Nexus, probably the first devices to receive it too. It might even hit the oldest generation of the GNex as well. I have an S4, but my fav ROM is the Google Edition 4.3 which is what I'm running right now! I've been looking on various news articles about 4.4 and I'm extremely excited for it! Apparently, there's rumors that we're going to be receiving a launcher with 4.4 called "Google Experience". It's not a huge update but there are some subtle UI changes which is what I'm dying to get to use. Hopefully it's all what we're looking for!

I predict the 28th of October. The rumors I've seen suggested the 18th or 28th, but I believe it should be released on a Monday and that would suggest the 28th. Anyone else notice that in recent times Android releases have rotated between Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday? 4.3 was released on a Wednesday so 4.4 should be released on a Monday.

Hehe, yeah, I always try to be patient, but I admit I'll probably just use fastboot to update on the first day. At least that way I get a clean start. If I don't like it I can always restore from a nandroid backup.

Gingerbread was released on a Monday, honeycomb on a Tuesday, ice cream sandwich on a Wednesday, jellybean on a Monday, 4.2 on a Tuesday, 4.3 on a Wednesday... 4.4 on a Monday? I'm surprised no one has noticed this before, but then again it could just be a coincidence.

It is and has been a rumor as far as the release date goes. People now would like to say it'll be released on the 28th due to hints on KitKat's twitter page. Who knows. As far as that goes it's all just the media's speculation and none of it is 100% legit.

I was updating my apps in Google play and I noticed that Samsung is now providing 4.4 support in their apps. I'm assuming that 4.4 is coming sooner rather than later. Who knows maybe even this month.

I'm in US so I'm assuming since the app is being updated for kit kat here already maybe it will be coming here soon. I know it was pushed out in poland, but I guess even when it is released here the carriers will take their time to push the update out.

i am guessing you didnt seen the 20ish threads in the general section that say "4.4.2 released" or something similar...before posting your question in the general section..

the apps being updated doesnt mean its any closer to being released for the US variants.. they have no choice but to update the apps now that they relesed it for the international version.. actually they probably would have updated the apps even if they hadnt updated the n9005, cuz they HAVE to updated it since they WILL update their phones

Unfortunately not. They don't come with the necessary modem and camera code. I wish it was that easy to get stock lollipop on here, but at least Sony provides more info than some other manufacturers.
