Anyone experiencing connectivity issue in Whatsapp while in cellular network? While app is running in foreground, there is no connectivity issue. But when it is in cellular network, incoming messages may or may not come; they will start to come once app is run in the foreground. There is no such issue when phone is connected to wifi. I have made sure background data is not turned off for Whatsapp (for cellular network) nor background data is restricted. There are no issue with viber, facebook messengers. I thought it was because I had my phone rooted. Recently I re-flashed stock and did not root but problem didn't go away.

I think the problem is gone after uninstalling updates, disabling, enabling and updating Whatsapp (Whatsapp is baked in Note 4 firmware).

I have been facing a strange problem off late. After a long usage of Wi-Fi, the 2G/EDGE/GPRS does not work properly. I mean the strength is weak even though the signal is strong. I can Sync, use Twitter, Facebook but not WhatsApp. Messages sent through WhatsApp when I'm on 2G/EDGE (after long usage over Wi-Fi) does not send/get delivered fast unless I refresh, switch to and from Airplane mode or reboot.
Any solutions? The problem seems to be peculiar. I could not find any solution yet.
Thanks
Bump!
So recently many of us have been having whatsapp delaying incoming/outgoing messages. I'm trying to investigate the issue and would appreciate it very much if you guys could help me by posting a few simple things:
As there are many threads about the problem occuring when connected to Wi-Fi, I will dedicate this one to people who have the problem while using mobile data only.
- How many times Whatsapp has awaken your phone according to Wakelock Detector, and over how long.
- Is Whatsapp working perfectly for you? Do you ever receive delayed messages/have problem connecting to whatsapp (ie. trying to send a message and seeing a clock for a long time)
- Have you removed/modified anything in your phone (any system apps, google frameworks/services etc)
Thanks in advance... Hope we can solve this problem.
I had this problem too in the past. I found out it was due to my modem that was working as a modem and a router at the same time. I fixed it by turning off the router function of it and using a seperate router. It's been working fine since then.
It maybe due to a firewall blocking outgoing connections on port 5223.
Anyone who doesnt use WiFi?
Hi
I used the proper guides and got the new firmware (7.0)
It actually made my phone much better except for one thing:
Certain apps have constant connection issues.
Waze, WhatsApp, telegram - they look for network connections for far longer than they used to.
Could this be a modem thing? Is there a solution?
Connection issues
I too am having connection issues ever since I updated to Nougat. I am constantly rebooting my phone in an attempt to get good signal. I am often on the H+ network instead of the LTE network. Certain apps have trouble connecting. Sometimes, if I force stop the app and restart it, the app will connect.
I have a 6P running stock 8.1 January update, rooted with Magisk 16.
I connect to a restrictive WiFi network at work, which blocks things like Snapchat, Instagram, and others. I have 6GB of data per month, which I rarely reach over 2GB of because I'm almost always in a WiFi zone.
I tried using AFWall+ and Tasker to turn off/on the firewall based on the SSID of the WiFi network connected too (so that it would only activate when connected to my work WiFi and not my home network), however it refused to work with the app.
I eliminated the Tasker bit for troubleshooting reasons, but the Instagram app "couldn't refresh feed", because it's blocked, even though I whitelisted every app except for it.
I tried switching to blacklist mode within AFWall, so that it would only block WiFi connections, applied the settings, however still, it always tried to use the WiFi, which was blocking it.
Can anyone help with this please? I don't actually use Snapchat or Facebook or anything.. I just want Instagram to not use WiFi when connected to a specific SSID.

Hello guys, I have some problems when using Whatsapp on my mobile data network (Telcel México). I'm using the LS997 (Sprint) and it's Unlocked.
Everything works fine, I had set up APN and I can surf the Internet, use Facebook, Instagram, etc.
But Whatsapp rarely works (just for some minutes) and I'm never able to send photos.
Everything works again when connected to Wi-Fi.
I have the latest version installed.
I have uninstalled and installed it again.
Any troubleshoot to my problem?, Maybe use some VPN or something like that...?
