Samsung tab 4 7.0 backlight bleeding - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I suspected that my tab 4 7.0 had some backlight bleeding and I just confirmed it using the "Backlight Bleed Test" app from the Play Store.
For those who want to test their own units, simply download and run that app. It will display a black background and also boost the brightness level to 100%. If you do this in a dark room then you may see the white backlight of your tablet shining through some of the edges or corners of your unit. If you do see this, then your tablet has backlight bleed.
When I testedTab 4 7.0, I found some bleeding on the bottom left corner. (I tried taking a picture of it but couldn't get the lighting right). In my case the backlight bleed is not too severe, but it bothers me to know that it's there in the first place. I'm wondering if all our units have this issue, or if some are better than others...
So...does your Tab 4 7.0 have any backlight bleed? If so, how bad is it?

Problem caused by samsung book cover!
I found out the problem caused by the samsung book cover. After I took out the tablet from the case the discoloration disappeared.
So now the question is, if is it a normal if you push a bit the bottom of the tablet, there is a severve discoloration (it' s easy to see on black background and higher brightness).Anybody else got this with tab 4 7.0? I don't now if is it a individual problem or not...

[Q] white vertical line

I have had my note for about 2 weeks now and noticed a barely visible thin vertial white line about 1.5cm from the left edge of the display . It is only noticeable on white display at low brightness and if you know where to look for it. I am not even sure if it has been there from day one. Anybody having seen anything like this? I am not sure if this is a defect or acceptable since it is barely visible and not distracting unless you know about it and look for it. Any comment will be appreciated.
update
Today I played with the brightness control to see if the line will still be there at different settings. From automatic went to manual and gave it full brightness and then back to minimum. Opened applications with white background and the line is gone.Hope it will not reappear

Screen Brightness Issues..

After long consideration I decided 2day finally update my (amazing) Galaxy Tab 7 to the new 7.7. I saw 5 units in hand but they all suffer from a screen issue. Even with Auto-Brightness OFF, when displaying bright images or there are large portions of white, the screen always self-dimms. I tried all possible settings, all units the same.. nothing 2do w/settings or the ambient-light sensor.. its the nature of this Tab. Ad a real-world test I tried displaying a small white square in the center of the screen w/maximum brigtness and as I enlarge the image the whole screen darkens progressively. By the time the image is in full screen (all white) brightness is less than 1/2..
Is this a hardware/ software issue? Has everyone else noticed this? Is there a fix? Its an absurd flaw.. needless to say, Im not buying the 7.7 till there is a remedy for this behaviour..

Thank you. That makes sense because its under full white that AMOLED screens use more power. Where is that setting? Im used to Gingerbread.. Honeycomb is a mess, I cant find anything I wanna get to
Thanks again

Its a tick box I cant recall exactly where it is but I think its like 2-3 options under screen brightness.
Though you have to take note that the white levels on the Tab7.7 are lower than compared to the 8.9, 10.1 and almost all other high-end Galaxy phones.

[Q] Blue tint, not everywhere and not all the time

Search did not reveal any post with this particular screen defect.
The phone is a collegue's of mine so I can't troubleshoot it directly or tell you baseband etc. It's brand new, 4.2.2, and a 4G so probably i9505 (bought in europe, sweden). It has not been droppped, collegue would have said if this was the case . What collegue told me was it was like this when collegue got it.
Sometimes screen becomes blue, but only parts of it. You can see this clearly on the attached photos. It's most promient on white areas, which are not white at all, but, well, blue!
Especially note the partial blueness of Whatsapp icon borders.
Screen lock is being used, blue tint appears on lockscreen as well.
Could not isolate when this occurs. I did not experiment much with the giroscope, don't think that's it. I also seem to recall viewing angle not making a difference. I did have it in my possesion for 30 min, during which the blue tint did not occur. Auto brightess was already off, took brightness down 2 or 3 notches. This is what I changed in settings -> display:
Screen mode: standard
Auto adjust screen tone: off
options that should not be relevant
Screen timeout -> 5 min
Wifi -> off
After this I gave it back to collegue, about 10 minutes went by, collegue took phone out of pocket and activated screen. Now the blue tint was back. At this time I took the attached photos a well as did as screenshot capture, which is not attached, but the blue tint was present there as well. It looked exactly the same as the actual OS/what I had seen with my eyes.
Device was a this time lieing on a flat surface.
I told my collegue to turn in the device for another one, but collegue would rather try/hear about/research a DIY- solution first.
Is this a common defect? Is it sw or hw? Can it be fixed? Etc...

edit: it seems to occur when the phone's screen has been turned off for a couple of minutes. Yesterday I unlocked device after being dormant for some hours, blue tint was there. Screen timed out by itself and when I unlocked blue tint was not present. Waited 4 min then unlocked, and sure enough blue was back. Turning on-off screen solved it once again. Also tried repeatedly locking-unlocking without blue tint reappaering.

Note 4 Screen

in direct sunlight in the screen of my note 4 i can see gray dots (pattern) beneath the screen is this normal (white background only) ? but when im in a shade it will disappear.
I'd take your Note 4 back to the retailer or a Samsung Repairs Center and get to take a look at it. You may have a faulty unit.
i already did and the technician said that it is normal ? i forgot what he mentioned, something like digitizer or the sensor of the touch screen.
by the way, it will only appear in very bright sun light and white background. it is not appearing when using other kinds of light (flash light, led lights, room lights, etc)
p.s. , when i hover my hand or head in the screen it is disappearing

Problem with screen backlight

Hello,
When I checked my phone today, I noticed that on left and right side of the screen, backlight seems to be different than on the rest. This causes screen to have different colour on the borders, like a little bit brighter. Is this a common problem? Anybody else had this issue? Any way to fix this, or should I replace the whole panel?
Mine has screen bleed as well. And every P8 that i saw had an amount of light bleed. So the chance to get a new screen with same screen bleed is high..
Mine has a little in the bottom left corner, unnoticable though unless I install the Backlight Bleed Test app & run it.
I was going to ask you to post a screenshot to see how much BLB there is on yours (would've posted mine too), but it doesn't show up in screenshots.
