Ive been running stock again unrooted for a few days now with no problems until today. Battery drain is happening again. Have brightness set to auto and dont ave facebook installed anymore since ive noticed tremondous battery drain with that app. First 2 days battery life was very good. I had about over 4 hours screen on with around 30% left and close to 3 days no charge. Today i have less than 2 hours screen on 17 hours on battery and already close to 40%. It seems the longer i run stock the worse it gets. I really dont have much installed on my phone. Wondering if anyone has this happening to them.
Try to use greenify and suspend apps that are running in the background ... That helps
I have this deadly battery combination that I can't shake off :
com.android.systemui + Samsung Sview cover + pin lock screen = huge battery drain
I have a Note 3 N9005, 4.4.2, stock, with the original Samsung Sview cover and the screen is locked with a pin. From time to time, say once every 2-3 days the com.android.systemui is draining my battery, taking hours of CPU time and resulting in heat and battery drain. The phone is new, had 4.4.2 when I bought it, so I don't know if I should perform a total wipe/reset.
I've read some threads that other people with other Samsung phone models (S4, S5) have the same problem as mine, in fact the combination proves to be a problem.
Is there a stock firmware that I can flash to get rid of the problem?
As more info for the screenshot, the talk time was 40 min and the screen time was 2 hours
Also I am under the impression that the drain takes place faster when I am using the phone (screen on). Yeah, I know that it is normal that using the phone would drain battery faster but this is WAY faster... like droping 1% every 2-4 minutes or so

Try the 3 consecutive Wipe Cache method. Some reported it fixes this.

Thank you for the hint.
Went into recovery and performed 3 wipes, one after the other...
Just o be clear, I did not perform a restart after each wipe.
I will come back with the results... it might take a while because usually after a restart it used to work ok...
I am hoping for the best,
Thank you !
I am sorry but it did not work... for the first 2-3 hours since the cache reset the com.android.systemui showed a decent, low 2% battery usage but in the last 20 minutes (after 7 hours of use) raised up to 18%, the phone is lagging a bit and the com.android.systemui shows :
CPU total 18m 46s
CPU foreground 19 seconds
Stay awake 27 seconds
The funny thing is the CPU total does not stop... as i am typing the com.android.systemui raised up to 22% and battery dropped by 2% and all i am doing is looking at the battery menu section
I am open to suggestions and ideas... maybe a link to the latest stock stable european firmware... anything
This com.android.systemui acts like a virus, slowing down the phone, eating the resources and battery.
The build number for the os is KOT49H.N9005XXUENC2... if it can help anyone.
Thank you
L.E : the com.android.systemui shows 28% battery usage now and the battery dropped by 6% in 8-10 minutes, i am so happy
from recovery make factory reset and wipe cache then flash a new stock rom from sammobile.com
Cocoooo thank you for your input but I am trying to avoid that ...if possible.
I flashed the phone with Samsung stock N9005XXUFNG2 rom... I'll let you know how is goes...
If this is not working i will backup, wipe, clean and reflash it with the same N9005XXUFNG2.
So far it is working... hope I can dodge the full backup/wipe/reflash thing
It's still working... although I see Cell Standby eating more battery then my previous firmware.... anyway... so far so good
Hi ..
I faced a terrible lag with my SM-900 after 4.4.2 update and I read a lot about this bad combination (S View + Lock with PIN) but I was forced to use the lock screen bcz of the company email server.
So, I decided to go into some experiments:
- Wiped cache partition: didn't solve
- Flashed stock Rom: didn't solve
- Used stock back cover: didn't solve
- Removed the exchange account and lock screen: didn't solve
So, I decide to start from scratch. I flashed the stock rom with Odin then a factory reset without the S View cover. I didn't install except very few apps (FB, Whatsapp and viber). The lag disappeared and the system was snappy and very smooth. After couple of days I put the S View cover and the system kept running smooth as is. After another couple of days I enabled the lock screen with PIN and the system is still in a very good shape and the clock of the lock screen always shows the right time and the home button response to wake up is perfect.
That eliminates the theory of SV+LS cause of lag. However, I 'll wait for few days then I will configure the company exchange account and update this post again.
My device is not rooted and on stock rom, I upgraded it to Marshmallow. Offical version, I have done a hard reset with wiping cache so that it works best. Which it was but suddenly now it drains a lot of battery. It was on 76 % and in 4 hours (when my screen was off but only 3G enabled) it drained to 20 % when I checked in the screen off section it shows whatsapp used 82% battery while the screen was off.
I want to know if someone else is also facing this issue, Also I have installed greenify after that to notice it.
Question to ask here is why did doze not work when my device was off and also it shows that whatsapp is on optimise ?
Even when it was on Lollipop just whatsapp never drained so much battery, even after upgrading it to marshmallow I did not notice such a huge drain for a few days ( probably I was not noticing it ) so suddenly what went wrong ?
Any help is welcome.
Thanks Again.
screenshots for whatsapp battery stats?
As I have tried many things now and even charged it back do not have that. Sorry but it was showing as whatsapp usage of 81% when screen was off.
Hi guys,
I have read countless threads on battery life & wake locks on XDA, Reddit, etc. Trying to find a solution to what I still find the Achilles heel of android, wake locks.
I am running stock on MHC19Q build
Adaptive brightness off
Wifi scanning off
Bluetooth scanning off
Battery Optimization on all apps except for DMService and Google Play Services
Some days I will go 2-3 hours with 30 minutes SOT and my battery only drops 10%. Doze works as it should. I will get through a full day at about 4 hours SOT (6am to 10pm).
On other days (like today) I am unplugged for 3 hours at 80% with 10 min SOT. I have rebooted the device 3 times since unplugging it and my wake locks are still occurring. My signal is perfect green through and through. Bluetooth off and connected to wifi.
I find the issue comes and goes. Some days the phone will start out great, only to have wake locks start occurring mid day. I think Android OS appears to be the issue.
Anyone else encountering wake locks that come and go?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :victory:

Absolutely same situation. No new application in monthes.
Google play services is usually the battery waster I found when moving around, I tend to place phone down when I can to save juice but you really need to identify your wakelocks first. I'm rooted and use bbs.
Disabling location may help, if rooted and using xposed, amplify may help too.
Google play services get updated when it's pushed out, sometimes it has bugs.
Maybe if you haven't updated any of your apps for months, then possibly one may need updating now.
I am using Note 4 (N910C) bought new 4 months ago but some times device behave weird. Sometimes device stays awake (cpu stays active) while screen is off and the device is not being used. When this state happen in the battery stats it can be seen that the awake line becomes strong and permanent and only solution is to restart the device.
After restart, device behaves normal for about 2 to 3 days and after that same problem persist. During this situation 4% per hour battery is consumed when device is idle.
In battery stats Android System and Android OS consume most of the battery when this problem happens. Otherwise device consume normal battery and I get about 6 hrs of screen on time.
I have tried several solutions like
Cleared cache.
Disabled some pre installed apps which i don't use like svoice etc
Disable sync services
Installed Gsam battery monitor but no-special process found other than android aystem which consume battery in problem state.
But nothing mentioned above really helped. The only known solution is restarting the device which help for like 2 days and problem comes again.
Device is not rooted and I am using original Samsung OS. Lollipop 5.1.1 and Marshmallow 6.0.1 both have same problem the later was updated via OTA. But nothing addressed the problem.
Please guide with the possible soultion?
I have the exact same problem, would be great if somebody can help

I also have the same problem, i'm going to search deeper in the forums if someone solved this months ago
So far it ends up wasting the battery of a generally idle device and stays up long enough for my screen and body to heat up when left unattended.
Have you already fiddled with the screen settings itself? Particularly Settings>Device>Display and Wallpaper > Smart Stay? I turned mine off and it did reduce some of the battery drain issues.
WiFi and mobile data (even just the plain mobile signal) seems to drain the battery too a little quickly.
