Me too... sad for us, that even with this premium flagship the software is only getting near of the modded ones that we have, made by starters in programming, instead of sony engineers.
Hope this year for real camera and not another self proclaimed one again.
I don't care for Raw support as much. Just wanted decent manual controls, ideally like the G4 has. Hopefully it does, if so I'll be back to Sony, first one since the xperia Arc.

Z5 doesn't support:
Manual White Balance
RAW support

A lot function of this app crashes on Z5. They'll have to update it. Also, I couldn't find any manual shutter speed?
I tried this app last week, shutter mode doesn't really do anything. Also, it fc alot, uninstalled

they didn't give us the botton to switch the iso
how can they treated us like this
i just had have high expectation on them, now i'm so disappointed
and how's everyone's thought of the new camera apk
the size of those photos really improved, but i just can't distinguish the 2.3.4 & 4.0.3 's photos which has the better resolution
ISO switch is either not implemented in camera driver or the sensor simply doesn't support manual ISO switching.
Do you mean that the sensor itself doesn't have the ability to be changed its iso by user?
Correct.
The camera performance is better after the ICS update, though the JPEG compression is still aggressive and that's never something good. I mean, zoom in after you have snapped one picture and the loss of details is horrible.

But i don´t regognize any diffenerent in the Pictures.

The Exmor R sensor is improved and newer on the Xperia S, that's why it supports the manual ISO-feature, specially camera driver softwarewise, compared to the Arc S.
It sucks though that the macro mode is removed, Arc S macro setting is one piece of fantastic eyegasm on real close-up shots!

how about video recording ?
I noticed they are so laggy, already you can find some tests on youtube made by an italian forum boy.
it's a bug i think, ram management isn't releted to video recording, and in ics the system could be slower, but the cpu is the same and the gpu also
so, why not smooth video ?
I had high hopes that ICS will improve the camera, these reports are a big dissapointment.

Yeah, but I use normal mode and chose the stuff like macro on my own, that's impossible now
Sent from my LT18i using XDA Premium App
The camera performance is not good on my Arc. I'm hoping it's because I'm using Arc S software on my Arc but the ISO seems to be locked on crazy high.
Looking back at pictures taken on 2.3 seems to be most commonly between 80 and 160. On ICS it's defaulting to the region of 320 with the lowest I've managed to get it being 160 (and that was using night scenery mode) and sometimes going up to ISO-800 taking a normal picture indoors in descent lighting! Something dodgey is going on here.
Someone needs to somehow come up with a fix to sort out it's mental auto-ISO settings.

I didn't notice this flaw until you mentioned it
Truely, when I was recording the car's movement,I could easily find it moved not so smooth just like there's a traffic jam
And I was surprised to know that the frame is only 26fps
Hope Sony rectifies these issues and fix them in upcoming ICS update for Xperia arc

Hmm how come lenovo camera and lg camera are possible?
timeshift function... could someone explain why is it that important to use? I highly doubt that anyone would be constantly using it after couple of times of shooting vids with it.
First of all is a new feature in smartphones that allows you to make beautiful and funny videos.
Second, it's good that it is a vital function, but if there why not use it?
And third, if the hardware is pretty much the same because they can not have a similar software?
I personally used it several times, although I'm not very happy with the effect it has in low light circumstances and the quality is too low in my opinion.
After searching and searching por an application to, for example do the thing I like in timeshift ( Slow down only part of a video) I found, Android Studio. Of course is not the same but I least I can do that. It will be great to have Timeshift directly, but in the meantime I'm using that. I hope you guys can check it out
Hi everyone, I've been reading around a bit about the Z2 camera and I'm finding some very conflicting opinions. GSMarena did a camera shootout not too long ago for which I'm pretty sure the Z2 came last or at least did horribly. (http://www.gsmarena.com/camera_shootout-review-1104.php) What makes this interesting is that DXOmark (http://www.dxomark.com/Phones/Sony-...ed-model-takes-first-place-in-Mobile-rankings) did a review on the Z2 camera and it scored quite highly. Am I missing something here? I don't think the stills are amazing to be honest and I mostly use superior auto. Is superior auto just garbage?
Camera has been improved with the new 4.4.4 Android update.Second of all,yes - Superior Auto is complete crap to be honest. The real deal is shooting in Manual Mode.So you need to play with the camera options abit to achieve the shot you want to see.Apart of that i don't beleave that the scores from dxomark are true.Sony has a crappy software (we all know that),so if u have time to shoot something - do it on manual. You will be surprised with the results.Use superior when u need to take a fast shot only.

Try googling words you dont know such as:
Exposure
ISO
Metering
White balance
Anything else you dont understand
I usualy like to use these settings:
ISO400(always)
Metering: Spot or multi
2MP size
Apropriate exposure and white balance
Flash i try to keep off

Sony only pretends to allow other apps to take control of for example ISO (FV-5 Camera comes up in my mind in particular), but doesn't do so. The onyl camera, which really can use manual settings like ISO from user is crappy Sony Camera app unfortunately. We should all pray for Sony not screwing up 5.0 update with all it' new camera APIs being open.
So it seems to be unanimous that superior auto is crap, I'll start using manual then from now on
Thanks guys!

Really, Samsung don't have it, LG don't have it either. Or has that changed?
sony wouldnt implement it in its camera firmware anyway, but i was hoping that at least they would include the support for it for 3rd party camera apps, but acordingly to xperia blog, all features are disabled.
This is a shame really, sony ****ed up big time. Galaxy s6 has RAW option, manual focus, manual everything, and all this in the default camera app. You can go even further and use 3rd party apps that have more features.
we cant even get away from the mediocre camera results from sony now, this is sad.
i expect that they implement some of the advanced camera api features from lollipop on Z4, so soon or later it would be ported to z3 series, but this is just a speculation by me.

No, we can't because the camera binaries for the Sony Exmor IMX220 camera sensor have to support it and the only phones to use this sensor are the entire Sony Z Series and the Meizu MX4.
Can someone say if it's possible to use another devices camera binaries for the same sensor?

meh,
because YOU want RAW doesnt't mean other want it, 99% of customers don't care about RAW so don't say stupid things.
Would have been nice to have to play around with and to show off to my iPhone friend . In the end it all depends on your point of view. Compared to smartphone camera a few years ago the Z3c is amazing. I've made some beautiful shots with it. And compared to a "real" camera all smartphones are garbage (except maybe Nokia?).
So for me the camera is perfect. I don't want to make a photography album with my pictures I want to have a quick shooter to capture some memories. And with the auto mode and the dedicated button the Z3c is exactly what I need.
It's frustrating because the camera hardware in the phone isn't being utilized to its full potential. Yes, it's fine for the average user, but for some, and I think many on this forum share this mindset - we try to get the most out of our devices. Not tapping into our camera's full potential is like leaving our device unrooted - it's neutered.

The main difference between the S6 and the Z3 being that the S6 is running Lollipop out of the box, where the Z3 is running Kit Kat. Implementing the Camera2 API is a lot more work than just porting the legacy firmware on Lollipop. That's why all OEMs chose to port their old firmware and stop here.

Did the Xperia Z5 premium get (or will get) the new Camera app from Xperia XZ? This should boost a little bit the quality of some shots, with the shutter speed 1s.

The new camera app is only for 7.0+ android os. We may get it in Dec when we receive 7.1 update.
