Before I call up EE and ask for a replacement I would just like to check if these temps are normal and if anyone else can run the same test and check what there temp gets to on the Note 4.
Firstly my Note 4 idles at around 36 degrees C which is pretty normal from what I can see. When running the Epic Citadel Benchmark on max Quality the Temperature reached a very hot 77 degrees C before I decided to stop it and shut it down.
It also reaches temps above 70 degrees C in Grand Theft Auto Vice City aswell on max settings.
Could a couple of you guys with the Note 4 please download and run the Epic Citadel Benchmark.... and use the CpuTemp app to measure the CPU temp while its running. This app has an overlay feature so you can watch the temp while the benchmark is running and I would love to know what the max temperature is that it reaches during it so I know if my phone is normal or faulty.
I get a score of about 52fps but the temperature just seems to high to me even though my idle temp is normal.
it would be very much aprechiated thank you.
That sounds about right. I just downloaded it and ran the benchmark on High Performance and got 56.4 FPS avg and the temp was around 52 degrees (started at idle, which was about 35, 36 degrees). Actually it basically spent most of its time during the benchmark at 1.5 GHz and just over 50 degrees. Then I let it cool down a bit and ran it again on Ultra High Quality and got a 48.9 FPS avg and the temp was around 77-78 degrees, spiking to around 80, but even at 80 degrees it was still fully clocked at 2.7 GHz.
But at least for me I notice even when using a couple pop up windows to play a youtube video (music, static image) while browsing Facebook and having Messenger chat heads up that the phone heats up quite a bit, going towards and around 70 degrees the more FB posts I go down and I can see it mostly around 1.5 GHz but it's still stuttery. I use CPU temp and frequency in status bar from XPosed Framework so I did have to keep dragging the status bar down to check. I'm curious what the scrolling performance would be like using ART instead but I'd have to give up XPosed and I don't think I'm ready to do that yet.
My note 4 n910f after updating to android 5 always very hot the cpu cooler app gave me 35 c wile cpu temp app gave me 50 to 60 c without heavy work at all
why this deference between the two apps? What is the right value? ?
That phone is making me crazy sometimes can't hold it with my hand
I'm using a Galaxy Note 4 N910H (4.4.4). During normal usage (web browsing, texting, etc) the temperature is 45-52 °C. The main problem is, when I play games for 15-20 minutes the temperature reaches 60-75 °C and the GPU throttles to 160-266mhz (CPU-Z). It makes my games laggy and unplayable. How do I fix this? Will upgrading to Lollipop solves this problem?
I have the same issue. What i did was i underclocked it with an app called 'Performance control' and it has significantly reduced getting too hot. You should try it
I play GTA SA in high quality and in a few minutes it is slow, Temple Run 2 loses many FPS, GodFire falls from 60FPS to 30FPS or less, Asphalt 8 begins to have low FPS.
I analyzed the performance of the GPU and CPU:
The phone heats up, reaches an average temperature of 70 ° C (158º F) ~ 80 ° C (176º F) , gives peaks up to 90 ° C (194º F) on hot days.
The GPU performance drops a lot.
The GPU performance falls gradually from 578 MHz to 190.73 MHz and no longer increases until the temperature cools.
I live in Brazil and in recent days made a lot of heat - 32 ° C (89,6º F), is now doing 15 ° C (59º F) and the GPU performance drops to 305 MHz in less than 10 minutes.
I have the S5 makes a week! I received from the Samsung because of problems with the S5 Mini GPS.
This is normal? Or my S5 has problems?
Thanks in advance!
It is G900M - SnapDragon Version
It has no root
Version 5.0 Lolipop

Which version of the phone u have? G900f?
And what version of android are u running?
And are u rooted?
It will throttle if it overheats, playing GPU/CPU intensive games on a hot day is a good combination to overheat the phone
Find somewhere cool and try playing them again, see if it still throttles

Today is 18ºC (64,4ºF) and it heats up to 85ºC (176ºF) according to the CPU-Z and GPU reached drop to 190MHz, as well as on hot days.
The average temperature is 45 ° C (113ºF) today without using it. It is normal on hot days is higher than 50 ° C (122ºF).
The processor did not exceed 70ºC (158ºF)
I don't know how high it is acceptable. I mean, lose the GPU performance in a few minutes.

That's pretty high, have you done a reflash/factory reset? Some process must be making it run like that.

I've tried, I have almost nothing installed. If I do not use the S5 the processor is almost stopped.
Also this occurred in 3 Lolipop updates I have received beyond the first.
The first time I turn it on and I set it up, he came to be very hot, downloaded CPU-Z and marked up to over 80 ° C. (The day was hot)
(Sorry for my english)
Can someone help me? Share the experience?
thats hot,i live in malaysia where the temp as same as there and now the weather became more hotter than usual in here , but my s5 g900f just acting like normal,no fps drops , even when im playing with heavy games together with vpn apps.
maybe your phone hardware got somehing wrong wih it.
Thanks for all the answers. I took my device in technical assistance for analysis and see what happens ...
If anyone else has expriencia, please share.
Hi All,
I mainly play COC and Clash Royale and notice the phone overheat up to 70-80 Celsius. Sometimes its so hot, you feel your face burn when answer phone calls. Any ideas which ROM doesn't heat up this much? or its normal for Note 4 to be this hot during games?
Device: N910C
Current rom: Dr. Ketan M6
Kernel: Emotion R26

It's normal issue with all the note 4 because of 1440p 2k qhd screen.
You can try any note 7 rom and turn down screen resolution to 1080p orr 720p and use custom kernel turn down cpu max frequency from 2.7ghz to 1.9ghz and minimum frequency to 300mhz
This will probably keep your phone cool when playing games.
you also have to turn down graphics from max to medium or low in game options you are playing.

I also play Clash Royale, but I have to put the governor in Performance because if not the game goes with stuttering. With Gametuner I lower the resolution to 30% but the cell phone also heats up a lot. I have not tried in the stock rom to compare. I use ManuPro AstraRom
