could be Stagefright fixes too.
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/08/31/moto-x-2nd-gen-vzw-soak-test/
I don't think they would "soak" for stagefright.
Not sure .... David Schuster hints it is stagefright, but I hope it is VoLTE.
"26 Aug 2015:
Hey Guys, the recent StageFright issues resulted in us having to replan and respin a lot of releases. Last week we started to rollout the 5.1 Lollipop upgrade with the latest StageFright patches to Moto E (1st Gen) for US Retail along with a respin to Moto E (1st Gen) and Moto E w/ LTE (2nd Gen) for Brazil retail with the StageFright patches.
Over the next weeks we will be continue to deploy additional releases with the StageFright fixes."
Interesting, I didn't get that invite.
I hope they fixed the brightness issue (lowest setting too bright in dark environments)
So was there ever actually a soak?
Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk
No. The only things "rolling out" are emails about an anticipated soak roll out. It's a clickbait article with a misleading title. A story about something that may happen in the future. :-/

I forgot to freeze the Motorola OTA with TiBu and got the Update notification this morning....does anyone recall where the OTA file is located so I can delete it?
EDIT: is it in the /cache folder?...if so, I think I found it and moved to my SD. Also, that is the locatiuon of the OTA, it's only 2.88MB....called Blur_Version.23.16.3.victara_verizon.verizon.en.US.zip
EDIT: EDIT: That is the file location...I did capture the Update .zip file if anyone needs it.
I just got the OTA.
It's an 18Mb update, specifically says that it's for Starfright.
No new features.

Please do post it (or pm it to me.) For some reason my phone doesn't think there is an update.
It just says "Android security patches." Stagefright seems like a reasonable assumption.

What's the normal difference in roll out between regions? By that I mean - if an update pops up in the US, is it normally quite fast that it rolls out to other countries? I would like to think that would be the case for the "pure", unbranded devices.
Definitely no volte in this ota? That's ridiculous for a phone that was supposed to have it Q4 2014...

The update for the xt1096 Verizon models included a new fsg.mbn file, patches for the modem files (normally found in the NON-HLOS. bin file.) It patched some binary files in /system/bin, /system/lib and then many of the included apps had patches for the odex files including some of the Verizon apps. This means that the update for your carrier would be different from another carriers update and probably needs to be approved by the respective carrier before being released.

Definitely no VoLTE although the line enabling it in build.prop was already there in the previously released version.

Hi there. I appreciate that the release for Verizon will be Verizon specific but here in the UK, the Moto X only comes unlocked direct from Motorola. There are no carriers over here that ship a "branded" device.
I'm a little surprised Moto managed to get the update out to the Verizon specific models before the unbranded ones! Hopefully we won't be waiting much longer...
Yea, but no way to edit build.prop without root
or is there?

LATEST UPDATE [06-19-2015]
Full deployment has started for US Retail, Brazil Retail and Rogers in Canada.

UPDATE [06-09-2015]
"I wanted to give a quick update on where we are with the Lollipop upgrades for the 2013 Moto X (1st Gen) devices.
We have started full soak testing in France and Germany retail this week with the expectation of full deployment next week if all goes well.
In addition, we have addressed an issue we found in a previous soak test and should start full soak testing in the US and Brazil for retail later this week. If all goes well, full deployment can happen the following week.
There were some questions about support for Lollipop upgrades from our carrier channels. We are in a number of the carrier labs now so we don't anticipate issues in getting the upgrades deployed. As you guys know.... the carrier channels typically take longer.
UPDATE: If all goes well with the soak testing this week we expect to start deployment for 2013 Moto X (1st gen) in India next week."

Do you mean those who installed 5.0.2 test drive?
I don't think Motorola would leave the official MFN testers on an incomplete test drive version, furthermore it makes sense to use the same testers to test 5.1, so as soon as those users get 5.1 it will leak and those who sideloaded 5.0.2 will have the upgrade.
Otherwise, it would be as easy as return to 4.4.4 temporary (skipping gpt and motoboot) and sideload the 5.1 upgrade, not big deal.
No matter what, the situation is not to feel bad about them, maybe they'll even get the upgrade before you do.
I have an brazilian XT 1058 and take the soak. I will be able to update to 5.1?

I'm not saying Moto did or did not fix anything, but so many people keep saying "Ohhh its version XXXX which has XXXX bug!"
1.) We don't run AOSP
2.) When google updates android, all of those changes are published. 5.1 is NOT a full re-write, sections of code are fixed. These fixes are published and if moto REALLY felt like it they could apply all the same code changes to a 5.0.1 base... At that point what is "version number" is is kinda semantics....
Moto started work on 5.0.2, so that is what their build is called, there is no reason they cannot include the already published bug fixes from later versions of android so they they can release their tested a developed build rather then throwing everything away and starting with a new base every time google updates.
I am not sure why no one is talking about it. but the update that was being tested is now being released to everyone. I think I have better wifi and blue tooth then before then update.

If you really want to root, I'd wait. Potentially there is a bootloader unlock coming which may provide it for 5.1. If you upgrade, who knows what happens.
No one knows when though. UItimately, if root is important to you, not updating is always the best decision.
My WiFi speed is the same it has always been and it's still vulnerable to stagefright.
Ok it doesn't seem like a very important update so I'll just hold off. Are you referring to the rootnija's work on unlocking it?
When you put your phone on a wireless charger, a full-screen dialog no longer pops up to tell you that it's wireless charging (at least, while playing a video in the YouTube app).
It is stagefright patch at 30 mb but it still left 1 vulnerability. I hate vzw. I use zimperium detector

With the BIG warning on the page about be sure to backup all your Photos and Personal data before applying the Update, does this means that it will delete all your data for just applying an OTA update? Sorry, but this being my first Nexus/Google phone what I know for OTA updates was just a simple process that doesn't delete anything on the phone, and I just want to be sure how it is here before I proceed, thanks in advance.

Yeah, I understand the risks when updating anything so I always do a backup of the most important stuff just in case, but as you know it's not the same to have to do a Full backup/restore. I needed to be sure but if you did it and you are fine then with what I already have backed up I should be fine too, thanks.
I just restored to stock my L and then checked for updates before rooting.
It said I'm already up to date.
I'll try again in a little while before rooting.
But simply being "unlocked" might be what is preventing me from grabbing an update. Not sure.

Yes, I realize I can typically install my own updates.
But as of right now, nobody truthfully knows which phone should have which build. P is so far looking Verizon Only.
Nobody I know of on Verizon has the H or L images.
So I'd rather be safe than sorry and let my phone CHOOSE it's update, and it did not so I mentioned that here to prevent others from restoring to stock and trying for an OTA

Valid question. @jcase has clearly stated that "X" would prevent VZW bootloader unlock. Regarding U and V, and which is 11/1 and which is 11/5, I don't know for sure. But it's clear from the Google dev link that each of the 3 builds include an incremental increase in patches.

That's not the reason, I received it too and my Z Play is not registered on MFN.
The changelog says it's about the security patch, improvements to Moto 360 connectivity and a fix for long boot times while using large microSD cards. Kernel compilation date stays the same, so I'm guessing it doesn't change the scenario for Magisk/modules

Still the same
Then better to wait for official September patch.
Vzw, It breaks the stock dialer ability to send tones to phone cueing machines. Effing amazing!
Fortunately the Z2 dialer from some app section works instead! Can't remember where Z or Z force.
Both the broken stock and this dialer must be active.
This is same as attached but a newer version, it will replace the attachment app.

hmm... Magisk throws the error "unable to repack boot image". Works with Valeryian but that breaks the camera/wifi.
