Asus T100TAF Won't power on. Rapid white flashing led power button - Windows 8 General

I have the T100taf. Its about 5 months old.
This morning I decided to do a factory reset on the tablet (Windows)
The reset was working away, it was at 66% done. I went out for a bit I came back the tablet was off.
It will not power on. I have tried all of the suggestions I could find with a google search (holding power button, home button power button combo etc) . I even called Asus who also had my try all the same combos. Asus tech support suggested I send the device in for repair. I have no idea how a simple Windows reset can be causing me so much grief.
When I press the power button the led next to the power button blinks rapidly about 8 times (white)
When I plug the tablet in the led is solid white. The battery was full when I began the reset and as far as I can tell it still is.
I can not get anything out of the screen...nothing. No logo, no white light on the front of the tablet nothing. Nothing happens, not a sound...just the rapid white blinking LED next to the power button when I press the power button.
The support guy at Asus actually asked my for my Microsoft account password for when they get it going again!
I am really not comfortable sending this into Asus for repair with all my personal data on it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi! I have the same problem. One day the battery is discharged, then I used a smartphone charger until the light was white, but when I hold the power button occurs the same thing, white led blinks rapidly about 8 times .
You found the solution??
PS: Sorry my bad english, I don't speak english.

You need to open up the case (search for videos on this) and disconnect the battery. After a short while (~30s) reconnect the battery. It should power up again normally. Go to the Asus website and get and install the latest BIOS to keep this from happening again.

That didn't work for mine
I have an Asus T100TA tablet and keyboard 32GB Eee Transformer pad. I have had the problem before and just had to do a hard reset on it. Then it happened again and I had to get it replaced. Now it isn't under warranty. I have managed to charge it to the point where the power light turns from orange to white, indicating that it is fully charged. So I know the charger I have works. However, the power still won't come on every time the power indicator light flashes 4 times rapidly and that's it. If I get it to do the hard reset, the pattern goes W>O>W>O>W>W>W>W then stops. The screen never does anything, I have tried disconnecting the battery as mentioned in the previous comments since this is out of warranty now and it has yet to do anything beyond the W>O>W>O>W>W>W>W. otherwise it just does the 4 white flashes, W>W>W>W. Anyone have any other tips for me on things I can try?

Can't turn on my xda :(

Hi. I recently bought of ebay an almost new XDA Exec, but when I got it it doesn't want to turn on. The guy who've owned this one doesn't understand anything from hardware. I think the device has stayed without the main battery for a while (after being charged) .. let's say 2 weeks. I've plugged in the battery and charged for 1 hour already, but when I press the POWER button nothing happens. Any ideas how could I fix this? (With turn on I mean absolutly nothing happens when I press the power button)
Bloody well send it back & ask for your money back!

Hi i-nZ,
Does the LED light come on to indicate that it is charging when it's plugged in?

No light. If I remove the battery while charging there is red light and if I do a soft reset there is a red light blink again. What light should I expect?
When it's plugged in with the battery, there should be an orange or green light (orange if it's charging, green if it's fully charged) in the upper left along the hinge in pda mode. No light when it's plugged in would seem to indicate that it's not charging, so it wouldn't be surprising that it didn't do anything after being plugged in, even for an hour. I haven't had a battery die on me yet, but I'm wondering if that might be the case here.
The red light that comes on after the battery is removed is throwing me as I wouldn't have expected it to do anything when the battery wasn't in. I guess that's a warning that there is no battery?
Have you contacted the seller about this yet?
Hmm. I think it is a warning that there is no battery and it is charging, so this is actually great news, cause this means the charging plug is not damaged(i think :S). I will receive my secondary battery soon. The problem with contacting the seller is that it will take ages for him to reply and such. I will surely get a refund for the dead battery if that's the issue, but I must travel in a few days, so I need that gadget working
I've got a brand new replacement battery and it doesn't work again! Again there is no green/orange/red light. Any ideas what could be possibly broken?

Sorry to say, but I think you just killed it by doing this. I believe I read it from the manual that you are not supposed to plug it in without the battery on it.
I've been actually told that the battery has been charged, so it's not a dead battery
I know this might sound stupid; but can you get it into boot mode?
The first xda exec I got had a fault where it wouldn't turn on, however if you pressed the reset button it would come on.
Of course this one went straight back to the shop. My advice is to try and return it.

When i press the POWER button nothing happens. Dunno how to get into boot mode...
Tried to do a hard reset by pressing the two buttons with horizontal line and poking the reset meanwhile, but it doesn't seem to react...
It's the power button, light button and soft reset all at once.
Also what happens if you try and charge it off of a USB connection minus the battery?
Red light, but if with battery - no light.
P.S: Did the light + power + reset. Nothing happens. There is no light blink or something (as I Had on an old pocket pc of mine).
I think it is time to return it and get a refund. Any way you just bought if right? Better do it as early as possible otherwise whoever sold you the device might not take the responsibility.
OMFG!!! The reset button was stuck... Found that myself
All fixed now?
What happened here as the fault looks exactly the same as my current issue....

Ran into Serious problem, please help

Last night my x1 was fine, before I went to bed, I turn the whole thing off and charge it with the charger. This morning I can't boot up the device at all. Tried remove the battery and put it back still no go.
I notice one thing if I have the charger still connecting to the phone and when I press the power button on the upper right, i see 3 red blinks from the side panel, but again, phone won't power up. What does the red blink means?
I have this phone only 4 days. Should I send it back to manufacture?
you can try to hardreset it
the manual should state how cant renember
somewhere under the batt pressing something
I had the same problem - occasional three red lights flash, occasional red light under power button. I solved the problem by using the search

Perhaps this should be added to the wiki in the trouble shooting section - seems a few people have had this issue?

[Q] Dell Venue Pro screen not "turning on" while keyboard does

Hey Everyone,
Just recently encountered this problem with my old DVP. When turn on or plugged in the screen appears on (at night it looks like its powered) but nothing comes on the screen and the keyboard lights up (and remains lit). I cannot turn the phone off from this state without removing the battery. I had assumed the phone to have a dead battery at first but it's not clear that it does have a charge since the keyboard will stay lit forever.
I have tried to leave the phone charging over night, didn't fix anything... I have also tried leaving the phone unplugged with the battery out for a time to see if it needed a power cycle of sorts... Didn't work.
I see a bunch of people with the "not turning on" problem but this is different since the keyboard turns on and I've tried charging it for a long time. I also tried one person's suggestion of holding the power button until the keyboard turns off briefly then release and press power again to get it to restart. When doing that, I can't even get the keyboard to turn off briefly, could hold the power button for 2 minutes and it still won't turn the keyboard off. I can get the screws out of the phone to take it apart if need be (I did the memory card upgrade so my warranty is already void)...
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

Stupid stupid mistake!

I think I have fried my Nexus 7.... didn't even think about what I did how stupid am I....
I decided to wire up a Hella connector to a USB cable the idea being to plug it into my phone for charging on the road... I then had a not so smart idea to use my OTG cable to connect the USB A connector to my Nexus 7 to see if it worked...
Nexus 7 booted past the bootloader and then nothing.... I realised then how stupid I had just been...and still nothing...
Presumably I've run a shed load of power down one of the data line..... what a fool.....
ARGH!!!!!!! anything I can possibly do to salvage it.... please!! :crying::crying::crying:
you could try something ASUS support told me, press all buttons (volume + & -, power) for 30 seconds, and if it won't boot after that, you should get a RMA

Going the RMA route would be costly. If it is dead, he'd be better off just bring a new N7.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Thanks for the suggestion but no it hasn't worked...
I've had the N7 plugged into the charger for the last 30 minutes or so and when I went back to it the screen backlight was on slightly (you can see if you look at the screen from the side)... but the whole unit was really really hot... I've obviously disconnected it but now can't get the thing to turn off, if I hold down the power button the screen flicks off but then back on.

I would think that "broken displayā€¯ units on eBay/CL probably have working mobos and batteries, as the owners are trying to dump them because of the broken screen. But, buying used is a crap shoot.
Nice that Google is selling N7s at cost (or even a loss) - but it does mean that any oem component replacements will be a significant fraction of the original price.
I was reading in Play Books when my N7 shut down due to low battery. I plugged it in and it wouldn't charge or boot and I noticed a faint light bleed and faint dots streaming from right to left on the display. I tried things like holding the power button for 30 seconds to reset, holding vol down and power to try to get to recovery, but it wouldn't take. Finally, with it plugged in, I held down the power button for just about 10 seconds and backlight and dots stopped. A few seconds later without pressing anything, it booted up. It would start to charge, but if the screen timed out, I was back to the earlier state and it wouldn't come on. So I got it started again and immediately went to developer options and checked Stay Awake while plugged in. Eventually the charge built up and I'm back to normal, at least my N7 is normal. I only mention this because the OP talked about the faint backlight and it may be worth trying.

A standard hella charger outputs 5V at 2A which is the same as your N7 original wall charger.
I doubt your problem came from the charger, it might be softbrick at an unfortunately moment.
I came across a similar problem when i was editing a custom kernel.
If you tried every method to shut down the device and failed do the following:
1. Open the case (it's quite easy to open with a plastic card)
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+Nexus+7+Battery/9895/1
2. Unplug the battery and hold the power button 30 seconds (with the battery detached)
3. Let it soak for 10 minutes
4. Reconnect the battery and close the lid.
5. Put your nexus 7 in the wall charger, and you should see the battery bar on the screen.
After that, let it charge a few minutes and boot the device.

How to turn on wileyfox storm after battery fully drained.

Hello to all experts.
1- Accidently my wileyfox storm battery was fully drained at night and i was not at home during that time.
I connected mobile to wall outlet it was showing red colour on home button when connected (as a battery charging indication) but after near about 8 hours i tried to turn it on but no luck. I pressed power button for many seconds, many times but no luck.
Now what should I do to turn on my wileyfox storm.
2- My second question is how to open back cover of my wileyfox storm. i did not find any notch or point to open back cover to see inside.
Thanks in advance.
Plug your phone on charge but not in usb, and wait about 20mn
I am having this problem as well right now, how did you fix it?
I too have the same problem , it was off because drain , but then put in office is no longer lights . the light is always red . what can I do?
Leave it charging for a while from the mains. Red light means charging on low charge, the screen doesn't turn on until it has some charge.
it is normal to be in power for eight hours, and nothing has changed ? Red light always on and off screen

I am no expert, but I've had the same problem after fully running the phone battery down. While looking for an answer I managed resolve the issue by to hold the power down and down array while the phone in chagrining for around 2 minutes and the phone started up, almost by complete accident.

I had the same issue you are having, battery ran down to empty, charge light would always be red no matter how long it was plugged in, slow charge, fast charge, holding down the power button, even with the inclusion of the vol down, nothing worked.
I fixed it by opening up the phone and disconnecting then reconnecting the the battery. After doing so the phone started to properly charge (phone booted up and displayed the battery animation). Everything now operates as normal, though I won't be letting it drain to 0% again, that's for sure.
If you're able to, give it a shot and hopefully it will do the trick for you as well (though I'm probably way to late).
Hello to all
I again have the same problem, the battery of my storm has fully discharged, but although is it charging for many hours the LED light is always red and the phone will not turn on. This time even while holding together power button and volume less nothing is happening.
Can anyone help me and tell me how I can fix ?
Level1imp how did you open the phone to disconnect the battery ?

After I read your message here, I've tried and finally I solved this problem in my phone.
I was getting crazy because there isn't place to fix this phone in my country and the company Wileyfox wanted me to send my phone to someone in europe to them send to Wilefox to fix it. I've spoke with the company today to see what could they do for me and the solution they gave to me was this and to I try to open the back by myself. But this last solution it isn't a solution because would make me loose the garantee. Why the technician didn't told me about this solution? I'm so disappointed with them.
hi i have a wileyfox storm it is not going on when i press power button .now i connect with wall charger so it show a red circle on the bottom and phone show logo on and of .how can i put it on
This works!!
For anyone who needs it, this also works on wileyfox swift 2
Had this too, but solved
Just had this problem occur on my Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus. Completely drained, left on charge for 4h but it got 0% charged in that time.
For me, hooking it up to a slightly stronger power source (5V 2.1A) USB port of my power bank,
in combination with Power + Volume UP
Got me to a boot screen I'd never seen before.
Hit Fast Boot, it looked like it just turned off again but a few seconds later I saw the normal boot screen pop up
