I have a GS4 that is not my primary phone, but I do use it for my music player and on wifi. I want to restore it back to a stock rom, but my bootloader shows that it is write protected. I cannot use odin, I've tried several times, but with the bootloader in write protect it won't write the rom. Any suggestions?

Mine says the same thing, maybe you should reinstall the Samsung drivers, try a different USB cable and port.
That's on my phone screen, not my computer, so it's definitely not a driver issue. It doesn't matter if it's connected to a pc or not. This is the bootloader being write protected.

Look in Settings/Security on the L720T it has a write protection setting that you can turn off.

I don't see a write protect option anywhere in security. Rom is 5.0.1

Am I looking in the wrong place?

I know it's on your phone screen and not on the computer. I just flashed stock, then Wicked X, an now BlissPop, still says it. I suggested reinstalling drivers since you are having issues flashing your phone via computer and not just flashing a ROM via recovery.
Drivers have nothing to do with the boot loader. I can flash roms from zips, but most need an odin flashed modem. Making the phone mostly useless. updating drivers on a computer will never unlock a bootloader. Never ever. It has nothing to do with the phone's OS.

Drivers do have to do with how Odin works, it is a valid suggestion and you should probably try it because, hell, you don't have too many options. If it's an L720 the bootloader is not locked, period, they never ever have been. I hope you also realize that Odin won't let you flash older firmware, only newer or the same firmware.
I actually reinstalled odin and updated the samsung drivers. I will post a picture after work. The bootloader screen actually says write protect enabled. Odin recognizes the phone being plugged in and even attempts to download. But it fails every time. I've used two different computers.

Everybody's L720 says that (write protection enabled), that is not the issue. Have you tried a different cable? What file are you trying to Odin? What is the error that Odin says?
Thanks for that info. I never paid attention to notice that before. I'm at work so I can't do much right now. Odin does showthe install fail.

It could be as simple as a bad download of the file or you are trying to use a file for the L720T. There's only a few things that can go wrong in Odin.

Does it say "Booting Recovery" in blue? What's the problem you're having with Odin?
No recovery in blue. I mentioned odin because it's not showing that I'm plugged into the PC. When I try to power up or try to put it into recovery, the Galaxy screen just flashes on once and then powers off. I'm able to go into download mode, but it's unreadable by the PC. I've tried two different PCs.

On the S3 we had "debrick images" you could put on your sdcard and push it through adb, but you said that's not working. I've heard J-Tag can bring phones back too but I don't know anything about it.

that's nothing out of the ordinary... I'm surprised your Knox counter isn't 0x1 with a custom binary, everything else is normal.
Must have been a typo..yes it was 0x1. Well, I want to thank you for your time. I downloaded and installed the full sdk and so it now recognizes and I've got my baby rolling again. Thanks again, good chance we'll meet again if I keep dabbling in these affairs...have a good weekend.
If Odin is not recognizing your device in download mode, you might have luck using heimdall to flash a custom recovery, and restore a backup or flash a rom from there.
But yeah you should've tripped Knox if you've used Odin to flash anything besides a stock tar.
Edit: didn't see your post above. Glad you got it working. Those pesky drivers

The phone does not boot up anymore so i can not access to enable OEM in point 2
Start from Fresh.
Download the Stock image and attempt to flash via recovery. / Odin
I dont fully understand the OEM Option.
But if its not been enabled and the system has been modified the Device will fail to boot.
You need to unlock the OEM Option.
This is why its worth reading the instructions over and over again and even reading about peoples problems before flashing.
I know my way around android, i have been flashing since android was first around.
Regardless of how well i know things.
I still spent the time reading the threads, Peoples problems, common issues by not reading instructions properly before i even touched my S7.
You will be faced with less issues the more product knowledge you know!
Its better to know more than less
Assuming Smart Switch is the new replacement for Kies (Never used it)
But you may be able to restore the device properly from here.

I gathered that from your error, maybe I should have worded it "Did you follow this thread....."
You will probably have to try to get into download mode several times as I have heard that is is pretty tricky with the error you get but you will get there
what ever i do it always says with green writing CUSTOM BINARY ( RECOVERY) BLOCKED BY FRB LOCK,
I tried to flash twrp-3.0.1-0-hero2lte.img .tar, again same error, and when trying to flash firmware it goes through but it would not boot up and at the end of flash process i get { dm-verity verification failed need to check DRK FIRST on GALAXY S7 edge }
My FRP method this:
Phone G935A, used Firmware G935U (not AT&T bloatware)
Insert prepaid sim 0$, and 0mb internet, but LTE network...
Personalise phone start, and wifi not turn on. Google verification fail, and NEXT button active...
Personalise finish, and turn dev.opt on, oem unlock on, and add the google account.

I have the same problem. I can't root the phone because FRP lock is on but I can't turn it off because I can't get to the OS. I've tried flashing official firmware already.
Smart switch emergency function can bypass the FRP lock and restore the firmware.
IT is a stand alone fuction for phones with FRP problems.
You need your serial number for this to work.
I have been able to fix the frp problem when I flashed my phone but did not turn on OEM unlock.
A month or two ago my Note 4 notified me of a software update being available. I told it to go ahead and install. Once it was looking like it was done and went to reboot itself, I ended up getting a screen that said "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I called Samsung for support and after troubleshooting they told me to take the phone to the Samsung kiosk at my local Best Buy. The employees there were unable to fix it. I contacted Samsung again and they said they could reflash the firmware for a fee of $70.13 which I was willing to pay since I love my Note 4. I sent the phone in with the battery per instructions, waited for repair, and when the phone came back it was not fixed. Included was a message saying it was beyond economical repair. How did they know how much I am willing to spend to fix my phone? Also they did not return my battery. I contacted Samsung and They DID end up sending me a battery, but told me they could not fix my phone since it had been rooted. I know for SURE it had not because I bought the phone BRAND NEW. Now I am stuck with a phone that will only turn on to an error screen and don't know what to do.
This is what appears on the screen.

Go to sammobile and download the latest firmware for n910p.
Download 'Odin' software aswell.
Extract tge zip thatvyou downloaded from sammobile, you will get a .tar.md5 file.
Then, open odin and click on AP button.
Select your n910p..........md5 file.
It will take time to load, leave it alone, the screen will look as if it is not responding but give it a few minutes.
Once the file is loaded, put the phone in download mode (the one that you shared in the image, is called download mode), connect the phone to pc and press the start button in odin.
Leave the phone and pc for 5-10 min.
Once the flashing process is done, the phone will reboot.
Press volume up+home+power buttons al together for 7 sec, the phone will boot into recovery mode, select the fatory reset option with the volume and power keys.
Then sleect 'reboot system'.
Done.
The phone should not take more than 10 min to boot.

Hello everyone,
I might have messed up big time so I need your expertise on installing Lineage OS.
So I was following this guide for installing Lineage OS 19. However, I stuck here:
Manually reboot into recovery, this may require pulling the device’s battery out and putting it back in, or if you have a non-removable battery, press the Volume Down + Power buttons for 8~10 seconds until the screen turns black & release the buttons immediately when it does, then boot to recovery:
Reboot and immediately hold Volume Up + Power while the device is connected to a PC via USB cable.

I did everything correctly till here but when I try to boot into flash, I can't. I go into download mode, flash lineage recovery using heimdall, then re-start to boot into recovery but it does not, keeps looping through the images below. Now I can't turn off the device, I am just stuck at download mode. It behaves like there is no OS or recovery mode. Like storage chip is empty to the last bit. I might have wiped data before installing lineage recovery. Please help. Thank you.

First off: which Tab S6 Lite is this? 2022 version (Qualcomm) or Pre-2022 (Exynos)?
Secondly: Perhaps try flashing with Odin and following the LineageOS guide for your respective device (Qualcomm/Exynos) rather than relying on the instructions from the LineageOS page.

İt is the old one with exynos.
I tried odin but odin does not seem like recognizing the device in download mode. I tried to flash recovery but it said “0/0” so basically it did nothing.
Edit: it seems like there is no dedicated exynos instructions for old ones.

But this does not really help because I’m stuck in the loop and can’t boot into recovery. Therefore can’t do anything unless I get into recovery.
I need a way out of this loop.
Okay I figured it out.
Seems like tablet was soft-bricked due to messing up with bootloader.
I managed to get odin recognize the tablet by using directly motherboard usb ports and downloaded latest firmware from Sammobile. Then using odin, I re-flashed stock ROM and it came back alive.

I am not able to do a step by step guie due to time but tablet had unlocked bootloader and somehow It got stuck on the boot loop.
So I downloaded lates system image from Sammobile, put the tablet in download mode, opened oden, connected tablet to PC via motherboard usb ports, odin recognized the tablet, then unzipped system image from sammobile and selected relevant (AP, BL etc.) files from odin. Then I flashed it using odin and tablet was now restored.

My phone is SM-A920F
I downloaded this firmware : https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-A920F/XXV/A920FXXS7CVH1
I use windows btw
EDIT : Now the phone just stuck in SAMSUNG GALAXY a9 logo and not even showing the blue text
Shows nothing in Windows Device Manager
I put BL in BL, AP in AP, CP in CP, HOME_CSC in CSC
EDIT 2 : I see blue text and SAMSUNG Mobile USB CDC Composite Device in device manager
EDIT 3 : When i press volume up, screen brightness changed up, and the opposite with volume down, and sometime its work, sometime nope
