I started last night battery life test.
this day all of them are active and I'll try..

I'm no expert, but I think with similar settings I could get about 5 hours of SOT with all those features disabled as well.

Nice picture. How did you change the position of the wifi and signal. And theming the navbar, very nice!

Right, this is why i wanted him to post sot without any mods, just stock with only those features disabled, to get a baseline.
no baseline we can't tell how good or not this is.

Will there be H811 variant rom? Would love to flash it asap! up and ready at anytime to test for you on h811

ofcourse everything is fair, otherwise why even try ?
have you tested with a cpu monitor ? can we see time spent at every cpu step ?
i just tried your settings and well neither the governor nor the min mhz stick as the cpu monitor does report some jumps to 1.4...
probably something lg set as a must to eliminate any kind of lag which definitely sucks the life out of the battery
i know for a fact that we can get better SOT using better/optimized cpu/core governor as my cpu monitor reports hell of a lot of time spent at 1.4 and 1.8
im guessing this cant be solved untill a kernel is released with a controller like synapse or something direct
big props on getting that much SOT :good: but it doesn't make sense limiting the phone that way to achieve it
if only we could get Dori here, his kernel is a beast when it comes to saving power/pumping performance when needed

its not really so bad when theres not many things running in the background, some lag is noticed but nothing that will halt the system crippling slow... go ahead and try it u'll understand what i mean
but for sure that is not the way to go either.
lets wait for some kernels that will have better control and then judge how much better our SOT can be :fingers-crossed:

Hey guys, what is the RAM usage? LG G4 H815, 10D rooted, bootloader unlocked, TWRP, Xposed. My ram is always at 1,7Gb minimum, which means in better case only 1Gb free. If I have several apps in the background, I must say it is quickly filled.

I would love to know if anyone can describe what their battery life is like. I am using cm7.0.3 and after full charge, on stand by mode I have 80% left after 8 hours. Is it good? Bad? Tips to improve this please!

Tips: amoled therefore use black background
- lower brightness
- disable data connection
- use task killers
I get around a day's use with fairly heavy usage. But games do suck the juice up.
@Drupad yours sounds good, although I'm using N78.
Use Green Power from the Market to turn off Wi-Fi when screens turns off.
Don't overclock.
For my 2¢, I've been using the SMARTASS kernel governor for a while with pretty good results for standby (CyanogenMod settings, Performance, CPU settings).

Hi Oly, Nice to see a familiar name in this forum I was wondering if you are as regular here
If yours is bad - I guess it's because of CM7.0.0 - upgrade it, they have fixed that bug (read on CM7 forums)

My brightness is set to 'auto' - should I stop that?
I don't use data connection for anything other than email sync. However good you mentioned task killer. I have installed advanced task killer and set it to kill all tasks when my screen is off. However, as soon as I activate the phone from sleep mode, I can see at least 8-10 apps already active! - could it be a dodgy task killer?

I get more than a day actually now that I've upgraded to latest nightly CM7. They seem to have fixed to battery drain. I charged my phone last night. I've listened to about 45 minutes of online radio while travelling, made 1 call (about 2 mins) and played angry birds for 10-15 minutes. It's been 9 hours since I first used my phone and I have 53% battery remaining. I am also using a live background with auto-screen brightness.
In a nutshell - I think CM7 N85 is better than N78 - give it a go if you like!
I don't use Wi-Fi. I only use data connection from Orange (they seem to have given me unlimited internet so will get as much as I can - yes because I don't like Orange.)
Overclocking doesnt seem to work on my blade. Anything more than 604 and my phone restarts if I use more than 2 apps!

hi drupad
task killers are different in android apps need to constantly run in the background
its just the way it is (not like WM task manager!) it's normal for the apps to start running again after standby
thanks for pointing out cm7.0.3 changelog thingy! i'll try to reflash to 7.0.3 when im free sometime
unfortunately i'm not as active in SF forums as much... (more in sgs2 + sgt forums)

I spend almost 3 nights (nearly!) reading Modaco forums, but nothing impressed me as much as CM7! CM7 was the only ROM that had most if not all feature functioning. I am presuming android custom roms have more 'functionality' issues than WM! And if you are going to 7.0.3 - also get nightly 85! It's Gingerbread 2.3.4!

thanks for advice mate
also to my previous question, i have my brightness set to around 50% (not on auto)
also, i advice to use normal wallpapers, not live!
(as pretty as they are, they suck up power!
also drupad, coming from an fellow spb shell winMo fan, you could give SpB Shell 3D a whizz on your SF
i made a thread abt this (tg01 forum) some time back comparing it to spb 3.5 winmo.
it is faster than it was on tg01 and a bit prettier
also it may save some battery.... (if you should, try launcherpro - i think its really good for battery too!)
cheers

Thanks a lot for that advice mate! I had completely forgotten about the SPB Shell! It will be very interesting to see how it integrates to already beautiful android layout! I am going to give it a go straightaway! Will report back soon.. I used launcherpro for a few hours, but soon realised as customizable as it might be, it's only good if I buy a full version (gives more options!) So ended up uninstalling. Won't be spending much on market just yet, may be after a couple of pay days
It's AWESOME! Definitely better than Stock, AWD and LauncherPro! It's sleek and smooth. I like it already.. however, will give it some try in over-all functionality. The app drawer scrolling has improved by 150%... Doesn't lag AT ALL..
Thanks for suggesting this mate.. If the functionality is good for day to day use and if battery drain is minimal, then this is my THE APP!
Already searching for themes and tweaks

yeh it's very smooth somehow! launcher pro / stock app drawer is laggy and choppy to scroll through, but buttery smooth on spb!
new carousel is a nice improvement on the android version compared to wm3.5 right?
it is actually incredibly smooth on SF ! it is also cheaper than WM version..
however, i only use it on my SF, not on my other devices... (some reason it lags a bit on my galaxy tab... )

Kernel governors from my understanding help determine the way the device responds to dynamic frequency scaling.
Performance is the best for device response but consumes the most battery as it's hitting the upper frequency constantly. Powersave is the opposite as it's hitting the lowest clock speed constantly.
Interactive polls cpu demand based on a timer rather than just currant demand (uses a bit more juice than ondemand).
Ondemand gives a good balance between response and battery.
Conservative is similar to ondemand but ramps up/ down to currant demand more smoothly (at the detriment to response).
Smartass governor caps the max sleeping (ie. screen off) frequency to 352Mhz, so uses less battery. However it acts like Interactive when the screen is on & can use more power than ondemand.
For me Smartass works best on my blade, however on my N1 ondemand is better - go figure

Yes 120% smoother and improved carousel! I think they've got it almost right this time.. I've noticed the reduction in SPB widgets though. Thought they might give integration to most of the shell. I wonder what WM users might do without these integrations, widgets. I think buying SF is one of the good decisions I've made this year - it's worth the money for android phone! (Still jealous of your SGS2 though!)

Thanks a lot for that Harmohn, that makes sense now! It's more or less CPU performance profile in a way, right?
Now it makes more sense to put it on SmartAss! It's been working fine so far, but I am not overclocking at all. Will stick to 604, 122 for now and that saves me a bit of battery hopefully!

[U8800 BATTERY Issues] Some tips

This research is completly based on previous posts here on xda by other members + based on my testing:
1. Get app CpuSpy from the market. Observe with it if your phone goes to "deep sleep" or not.
2. If you see your phone doesn't enter deep sleep, go to Applications, Battery use and close all applications like default Email app (that caused my phone to constantly use ~245Mhz of my CPU when idle), also check your widgets for various weather updates, ...
3. Apply latest franco kernel (with my experience, this kernel also improved my battery life)
4. Make sure you have turned off in Settings, Date & Time, "Automatic".
5. Disable data transfer under Wireless & Networks.
6. Set Brightness level to Automatic as screen drains the battery alot.
7. Apply the custom roms provided here (MIUI, Oxygen) which are based on Gingerbread (2.3), which also has better battery usage than FroYo (2.2), especialy on U8800.
Hope this helps for some people here
Thanks for the information

only the data connection otherwise ur right as hell
THE BIGGEST impact on battery life is as you all may know- DISPLAY. You can disable everything, but those things only takes 20-30% of battery everything else is for display. So.. turn ir off D Its very bad that all roms allows you only to minimize brightness to 11% but i want to minimize it even more, but they do not allow me. cause at nights 11% is too bright for me.
I even thinking to compile my own modified franco kernel just because of that DD But with MIUI rom it shows bull**** in battery usage.

Yesterday i discovered a nice app called 2X battery and tried it today.
As usually my battery goes from 100 to 50 by 12hrs, so with this 2xbattery on, its almost 15hrs and batter is still 67%
nice app 10p

I got 4 days and 13 hours with mine, using GingerDX aswell.
There's no secret for that, just chage the configurations for max battery saving and disable background apps or services you don't need.
Calibrate battery, maybe some build.prop edits and that's it

4 days? maybe you seldom use your phone.
just several sms,phone
Yes, maybe wifi and network data not work
i used a bit of 3g while out and about FB and news, used wifi when i was at home again just bits and bobs, sent quite a few texts as well as some calls. was just average use nothing major.
the only thing i did was download Battery Calibrator charged to 100% ran the app to clear the battery stats and got a nice 4 days out of it
7days 1hour with 11% left.
Now i do use phone for a few calls/sms only, but hey, it's even better than my old non-android one!

Well,
First of all, this (note that smartass is preinstalled on GingerDX, at least on v013 it was; screen brightness for me is set at minimum level, 13% which is more than fine indoors and outside if cloudy);
V6 supercharger from here (yet i do have some troubles with it, as described here);
Autostarts to remove many processes from the autostart list, but play carefully around with them! I won't provide the entire list of enabled/disabled apps (reason: too lazy, it's 4 am in the morning);
Advanced Task Killer to kill all the unnecessary ones (incl messaging and some more, don't forget to kill the task killer along).
Android Assistant launcher widget to free some memory (i do keep it in memory, it doesn't seem to cause any trouble by staying there);
Signal quality also plays a role in how fast your battery goes, better quality = longer standby; so play around with places in your home to find best spot, it can take a few days though;
Also i use my phone mostly for a few short calls (10-30 mins total per day) and an sms or two, this also helps, since i'm most of the time at home near my computer (i work at home lol);
Charging from ~10% from computer (slower charging) seems to help a bit too, not entirely sure;
Static wallpaper! Live ones are a power hog.
And generally - the less you toy with your phone, the longer will the battery last

yup, unhappy with battery backup eventhough it has 3000mah. also due to Android 5.0 bug
21% of Android OS bug for 2% screen use, yeah, Android OS seems to be THE issue of battery draining.
Here is the link to the 8 hours SOT http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/orig-development/rom-slimlp-t3169982/page11
It is infuriating. Seems to be impossible to get the phone to sleep properly. Today mine seems to have stuck permanently awake. And the WiFi seems to be almost always on, even when it is supposed to be completely off.
ZE550ml user here. I can easily past 5 hours SOT in 20 hours standby time.
-Stock rooted and Cpu governor set to ondemand

Bad it needs root.
I've installed Doze and when the screen is off, i see the difference.
Also don't use the buildin music player with bluetooth, this will KILL your battery.

At first i am only rooted because i am using TB and AdAway. No problem with battery life what so ever. I had also tried to use build-in music player for around 2 hours with wired earphone many times, but seems like it doesnt have much effect on the battery life too. Could be the bluetooth issue? i rarely turn on bluetooth.
BTW, have you turn off WiFi scanning option?
Could be that it is a Bluetooth issue then but I don't have it with VLc and Bluetooth playing.
If asus doesn't improve, I will try your setup.

Don't blame the phone. Mine sleeps like a baby (1-1.5% per hour) stock, unrooted. Your setup is the problem. I'm running Greenify, Opera Max, allow Autostart to only the apps I want AND most importantly denying data access and keep awake to non-essential apps. I've also disabled the crapware including Google music, playbooks etc that I've never used.
One more thing, Facebook, Viber, Skype, Twitter etc are killers too. I access fb via my browser (CM Browser). The stock browser is another battery killer.

the thing is, the earlier firmware version was working fine for me but not the latest one. also i have enabled only greenify in autostart manager. disabled all unwanted google and asus apps. also in sleep mode i have only max 2% battery drain issue. now using Project T kernel by @TheSSJ lets see how it performs

Posts like these make me feel lucky I got the CN version.
First I was angry and rushed to install the WW firmware but my battery got terrible, I barely made 3 hours ost.
Now I'm back to CN firmware with 5 hours ost with light use Internet, Facebook, calls, what's up .and 4 hours ost if I heavy game for 2 hours or more.
I don't know why CN got better battery I wish I could help but I can tell you it's not the phones fault.

Did you turn off Wifi "Scanning Always Available"?
also stock kernel sometimes never goes in sleep mode. need to reboot and check whether it is in deep sleep mode or not after keeping it idle for a while!

Yes, although it comes back on by itself.

Exactly. You need to reboot your phone just to be sure it will sleep properly if you are not going to be using it for a while. It's ridiculous.
All these replies are pathetic. Sorry if I'm offending anyone. Learn how to use your phones properly based on how you use them. I'm sending this from my Zenfone that's been running for 18hrs and it's on 30%.
MY MAJOR QUESTION FOR ALL OF US XDA NERDS......... WTF ARE YOU DOING ON YOUR PHONE FOR 5,6,7 HOURS A DAY? Get a f****ng life!
Edit: And if you think I'm talking smack, please look at my signature and what a true battery phone is all about.
The Zenfone 2 is a $300 beast and I'm loving it.

Greenify Make Any Difference? (Nougat)

Been trying out Greenify and it honestly does not make anything magically better in terms of battery life. Is it just not optimized for Nougat?

I liked Greenify pre-Marshmallow but I don't think it works well with Doze. If you are rooted you might want to try Naptime. I didn't like the app but it definitely extends battery life. It puts your phone in Doze as soon as the screen goes off. If there are any apps you want to work with the screen off (a music app, for example) you need to exempt it from power saving or it will stop working immediately after the screen goes off.
You'd be better off using custom kernel (ElementalX or Flash) and one of the battery friendly governor profiles. Using black/ dark wallpaper and theme also helps.

Yea I use X and Drunksauce Lite + DU. Just wish battery lasted longer. I have always been using Naptime as well. Wish there were more apps that could block alarms as this seems to be the biggest killer for me. The alarm "alarm_wakeup_locator" is my mail culprit but I have no control over it lol.

Can't you just turn off notifications for whatever apps are triggering your alarms?

Doesn't really say what apps are causing it but I guess I can turn off notification for all my apps since I check on my own time. In BB doesn't really say. This is a bad screenshot cuz I've been in my phone plauingt with it for a while now after a qucik little charge.

I had the alarms cuz my gps was turned on all the time. So I installed franco kernel and his franco app which lets me set profiles for every app. Since I only need location in maps, phone, and google I have location turned off all the time and it automatically turns on in those apps. Saved a lot of battery this way

If GPS is the culprit and you don't want to use Franco's Kernel couldn't you just change location setting to battery saving and then just turn on the GPS (change location setting to high accuracy) when you are actually using the GPS?

It doesn't sound like apps are causing the alarms. I'm surprised you're having all this going on with Naptime installed. What kind of battery life are you getting?

I hate Franco's Kernel but it's known for extending battery life. Franco also made Naptime. He seems to be obsessed with extending battery life at the expense of the functionality of your phone. But if battery life is an important consideration you might want to give his kernel a try.
Here are my stats...
DU Latest + Element X
Butterfly Gov
Naptime
All App Location Access Denied
Do I have a bad battery???
I removed Greenify a week ago from my 6P running 7.1.1 and discovered battery to be the same or slightly better. I've since flashed Franco.kernel and the battery life is back to my expectations. But yeah, Greenify is useless on Nougat.

RR has alarm and wakelock controls built into the OS. Until Nougat gets Xposed, its a good alternative.
On official RR 5.8.3 latest build (with the culprit alarms and wakelocks blocked) + Franco Kernel (disable all network wakelocks in FKUpdater app) + Naptime (aggressive doze, disable motion detection), I get 6 hr SOT on average.
