PIT file SM-N915A - Note Edge General

Here is the PIT file for a SM-N915A for those who may need it.
Click "PIT" and select the PIT file associated with the Android ROM you're flashing with ODIN. Click "PDA" and select the TAR file for the ROM. Click "Start" to add this ROM to your Samsung phone. The installation is complete when your phone automatically reboots.

ODIN buttons explanation:
BL refers to the bootloader
AP refers to the build version of the software/firmware
CP refers to the baseband/modem version
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. it contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either
PIT refers to the Partition Information Table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. its very likely you may never have to use this, at least i hope so however KEEP IN MIND there is a HIGH chance of bricking your device with a bad partition table if you do this wrong!! dont forget to check the box re-partition if youre gonna use it!
if the package only contains one .tar md5 file then it will have everything, AP+BL+CSC+CP, in one file
a stock firmware downloaded from sammobile or samsung updates will contain all of these in one .tar md5 file
if it has multiple .tar md5 files then:
the .tar md5 with modem/CP in the name is the phone/baseband part of the package
the .tar md5 with CSC/multi-csc in the name is the csc part of the package
the .tar md5 with code/AP in the name is the AP part of the firmware package
the .tar md5 with BL in the name is the bootloader part of the package
if this is the case you will need to put these .tar md5 files in the specific areas of odin to flash the update/stock rom

[Q] anyone mind extracting the rfs files from JMA firmware?

I dont have access to a linux box and I think in order to flash the latest JMA firmware from samfirmware i need to extract the rfs files in order to load them up via odin...if im completely off please disregard or point me to the correct path..
if any helpful souls out there that wouldnt mind extracting the files and uploading them here?
thanks
Im just a noob trying to flash the latest JMA firmware on my JM6 tab
thanks again..
EDIT - Thank you all for explaining it:
For anyone else presented with the same issue; use the zipped JMA file in odin in the PDA box and the pit file located at the bottom of the samfirm page when flashing the latest JMA firmware.

Extract them yourself by opening the file with 7Zip or WinZip. They're just archives.
Also - Should be in the General section.

thanks for the tips. I just installed both winzip and 7zip and could not extract the factory.rfs file with either.....
im guessing I have to extract the factory.rfs file and zip as a tar file for odin right?

The file you download is a zip file. Unzip it. There should be a tar file in there, tar is an archive format (similar to the way zip is, only it's uncompressed), so use 7zip or other unarchiving software to untar the file. There will be all of the JMA files including the RFS images contained in the tar file.

when flashing JMA what file do i put in PDA box? i pressume thats the only file i will use besides the pit file given that i dont want to replace the modem (phone) file...
I'm sorry if this is not making any sense

Use the JMA file here on XDA. Extra JMA.tar. Select that file ALONE as PDA. No repartition, PIT, Phone or CSC. It'll update PDA, Phone and CSC automatically.
If it doesn't reboot on its own after flash is complete, reboot into recovery.
You should be upgrading to JMA from JM6.
If you still need to extract/unpackage RFS->

[ROM] Stock JMI PDA with JMG CSC & JK5 modem

I packaged up a mix of the stock JMI PDA, JMG CSC and JK5 modem for my own Tab and thought I'd post a download link in case anyone would like to try it. The JMI PDA is stock, I haven't altered it at all. The JMG CSC has carrier data for UK carriers amongst others (the CSC that comes with JMI is only Russia). The JK5 modem is the stock one for UK supplied Tabs so (theoretically) should be best suited for UK mobile providers. The ROM can be rooted with SuperOneClick and it's nice and fast. The only issue is that you have to copy and paste a folder called T9DB into /system after the flash otherwise the Samsung keypad doesn't work properly. I've attached a zipped up copy of the folder here, just unzip it, copy it to your SD card and use something like Root Explorer to copy in into /system. Samsung have included the T9DB folder in their CSC file instead of the factoryfs file this time (why???).
Here's the link to download the ROM package. Note that it does not contain bootloaders! I have only included factoryfs.rfs, param.lfs, zimage, cache.rfs and modem.bin in the package. When I flashed it onto my Tab it didn't overwrite any of my settings and all my applications were still present and working, it just removes Root and resets your home screen. http://www.multiupload.com/5L68OTH9QY
Flash as PDA with Odin 1.7. Select no PIT file and do not re-partition.

[Q] How to Extract Stock ROM from Phone and create a Tar.md5 file

First of all - There isnt any thread about Extracting The Complete Stock ROM from the phone, and then Creating a flashable Odin file ( Tar.md5 )
So heres my Question that can any of the XDA People give a procedure to extract the STOCK ROM from the Phone ( CSC, Modem, PDA etc ) and creating a Md5 file which can be later used.
The xda people already have procedure for you sire

make sure the radio is correct (phone.csc) since that contains the telephony device drivers and you must exersise extra care,
remember most SGY roms are built for GSM/Intl. Version,
try and asking anyone with a CDMA version if they have successfully flashed a custom rom with it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777579
From the link above - there are several dump codes fro example system , recovery, modem etc.
I want to know
is PDA = SYSTEM ?
Modem = Modem ?
then Which dump to take as CSC ?

Pit file for i9505 (16Gb) i9505XXUHOJ2 CSC=btu

Pit file for i9505XXUHOJ2
I have a hand-me-down 16gb LTE GT-i9505 from my son in London. (I'm in Australia). After a system crash during an OTA update I was unable to flash with Kies or Odin; tried different computers and OS's so then tried with heimdall using a downloaded pit file (I stupidly didn't save the original pit file beforeflashing) and the stock rom (i9505XXUHOJ2) from Sammobile. I don't know whether the pit file was suitable for my 16gb S4 or not, but heimdall still wouldn't flash the unzipped rom until I created a heimdall package with it. Even then, heimdall reported a failure to flash after successfully flashing eg one partition, so I just kept stopping and reconnecting to heimdall (Linux Mint 64 bit) until all partitions one at a time until all seemed to flash. Very messy process! (On my part not really understanding what I was doing)
Now my phone is crashing and rebooting constantly after working ok for a couple of weeks. This was the same issue that led me to update in the first place. I replaced with new battery. No change. Reinstalled stock again today without error using heimdall, but I'm still getting the random crashes. So I thought trying to reinstall again with a correct pit file this time might help. I'm thinking hardware problems after that as it also crashes in recovery and reboots.
Can someone direct me to a correct pit file ? - I have no idea which ones are compatible with my device and the stock rom I'm trying to get working again. This is my primary phone.
My hardware details are:
Device type: jflte
Name: jfltexx
Qcom/MSM8960 (32BIT)
msm8960/apq8064
GPU adreno 320
Modem: mdm9215m
Hardware revision MP 0.900
Bootloader i9505XXUHOJ2
PDA i9505XXUHOJ2
Baseband: i9505XXUHOJ2
CSC: BTU

I have been searching all day through xda and found nothing that seems to help. Googled for days without result either. There are pit files out there. But none seem to match my device/stock rom combination. And I've read (newbie on these matters) that it does matter which pit file is used, and could be the cause of my constant crashing problems if partitioning is not quite right.
If you could narrow my search options I'd be happy to keep searching but not for lack of trying on my part so far.

I think there are no specialized type for your phone (unlike my GT-I9500). Any pit files for regular GT-I9505 should be okay.
If you still 100% unsure, download BTU stock firmware via SamFirm with "Nature..." checked. It has pit file bundled with it and has 4 files when extracted (Pit is inside CSC's tar.md5).

Thanks for the follow up. Much appreciated. I hadn't heard of Samfirm before but have downloaded it and will get the stock ROM today using it. I was under the impression that the pit file did matter depending on the capacity of the phone. (16gb,32gb,64gb). Unfortunately, my son can't remember which he purchased - he bought it online unlocked and the original invoice gives no indication, and I'm not sure whether PhoneInfo just looks at partition sizes or whether it actually interrogates the hardware to assess internal flash memory size (It says I have 16Gb).
If the pit file version really doesn't matter then I'll just use the one in the downloaded stock ROM, but I was hoping to verify this first.
Edit: It seems there is no CSC tar.md5 in the extracted download. Only the flashable partitions etc. I have attached an image of 7zip extraction. Any other thoughts/ideas?

Many thanks for the search tip. I'll have a look at magic pit too, but with a little more observant attention I also noticed the CSC*.tar.md5 file and it did indeed contain a single file called JFLTE_EUR_OPEN.pit. So I am beginning to assume there is only one pit file for different i9505 international (and unlocked) variants? I have found several pit files now and had a look at them with pit magic (EMS Professional now) and they all seem the same as the one I installed on my phone and the one I downloaded with SamFirm.
What I would like to be able to calculate is the size of the partitions, but not sure how block size and block number fit together to calculate that number. Any advice?

Yes, that's it. Flash all files (AP, BL, CP, and CSC) on the corresponding section in ODIN. You don't need to provide additional pit because your phone will be partitioned using pit file inside CSC tar.md5 (re-partition should be checked). It'll do the magic.

you can use the pitmagic to do this, it shows the starting block [block count] and the block size of each partition... one of the pits I´ve got was wrong, I could check it at sva partition table.
about what you want to know, I do believe the userdata is left alone only marking the starting block but the size is just identified by the program and not limited by the pit for start.
I'm still trying to figure out if my phone is 16gb or 32gb storage. If I use phoneinfo-Samsung it reports 16gb. If I input the device imei into imei.info.com I get 32gb listed for my device. All the other info for my s4 on that site is correct. Which source is likely to be correct? I am a little bit suspicious that phoneinfo-samsung might only look at formatted partitions to calculate storage rather than reporting on the hardware flash memory chip. I am wondering whether my constant system crashes may be because of incorrectly formatted partitions. Any advice?

I will tell you how to do it for the modem, but the same applies for the bootloader as well.
You download the program i linked you and extract it in a folder on you C drive (example C:\img2tar ).
You open the firmware you downloaded from sammobile with winrar or 7zip.
You extract the modem.bin from inside.
You place the modem.bim inside the program's folder (example img2tar) and run the batch.bat
A file named modem.tar.md5 has been created.Flash that file via odin.

Awrsome man, nice job. It's really slow to download the whole firmware so theese tars are handy .
I didn't downloaded it yet but from its name i saw that on bootloader you packed only the sboot.bin.
If you look at my release and open the allfiles.tar.md5 with 7zip or winrar you will see two files inside : sboot.bin and cm.bin.
Those two files are needed for the boot loader.
Now to make those two files a single .tar.md5 you need to copy them both inside the program directory (example C:\img2tar)
Then you run the batch.bat file like normal.
This time you go inside the created folder mame AllFiles and there you have the allfiles.tar.md5 witch is the complete bootloader with both files inside (you can open it with winrar or 7zip to be sure)
I kinda forgot to tell you the method above.By the way it would be a bad idea to renane the files.
